I'm floored that you manage to forge a blade, film the process, edit the footage, comment on the result, and deal with all the other aspects of life every week or so! Good work, and thanks!
It used to be every week but now i take a week to a week and half because the builds are more complex and the editing takes a bit longer than before but it is very stressful but at the same time i enjoy it. So there is that 🙃
Been using epoxies since the early 1980s… 5minute epoxies tend to absorb moisture after a while. That causes them to swell and weaken. If you really want things to last, use slow curing epoxy and do other things while it cures. Also gives you more working time so you don’t have to rush your handle assembly
I've switched over to G-flex epoxy and it's way better. I'm extremely happy with the results. It's a 10hr dry epoxy with a 75 work time and works great.
Absolutely gorgeous!! Makes me wish I was an insane younger man again so I might try bladesmithing. As it is, I'm a stove up 75 yr old who can only sit by enjoying your talents as well as other smith's here in UA-cam.
Run rabbit, run, man with big knife is coming for you! Being able to visualise the screw threads makes for a stunning visual and the different grinding levels shows off the handmade perspective of the blade. There is something tantalising about hand crafted knives.
Going out to light the forge in a few minutes myself. No matter how many i make i watch videos before making my next to look for a new idea or some inspiration. Thanks for the videos!
You are very patient and talented. I know there's so much work that went into this project. And you do a great job with the editing. This from a fellow youtuber. Excellent work!
Nice job getting the billet out of the can. I’ve never seen one pull out that nicely. Usually regardless of prep, the smith needs to put in some work to get it out of there. I also love that surface grinder. Nicely made.
Great work! It's nice to see your humility and showing your mistakes. Some videos people publish make this craft look too easy and with no mistakes either. Inspiring for the other blade weekend warriors out here.
Bunny! Awesome video man. I love how you walked through everything you were doing, owned up to imperfections and mistakes, your sense of humor and everything. I just found you but I'll be watching more!
Rabbit. I sent this video to my former high school football coach. Coach is impressed. You did a great job and we like the video. We suggest maybe inlaying the JP with copper if possible. It would really set things off even more.
You have to be a southerner. 😂Only a southerner would go through all this work to make a badass blade… just to cut watermelon. 😂😂😂 I love it! Every aspect of it. Including the watermelon slicing. Now I need to buy a watermelon.
I remember doing some carving in wood shop class. I got a little ambitious and over cut and area. The teacher must have noticed my frustration, said A man who has never made a mistake has never made anything. I think this is particularly true and people who work in crafts and art. There are the technical things that need to be learned and the muscle memory. No amount of reading and study can develop muscle memory. You just have to do it repeatedly. You are running a business so if you can save an hour using the press, I say do it. The other thing you point out is the stress on your body. It has to stay in good shape and last you until you retire. So use PPE, and use any mechanical method you can to reduce the strain on your body. I watched a video the other day of a guy who made bearing ball Damascus, without steel powder and he nailed it. If I can find the link I will post it, the thing I noticed was he spent a huge amount of time working the canaster before opening it.
If im not mistaken Hans did the bearing balls with no powder and got a gorgeous blade from it but i think we are using different bearing balls or something because i was pretty sure the process i used shough have worked but oh well ill get it down someday or maybe ill have to get in contact with him and ask him how he did it.
Ahhh. A perfect Sunday morning. Just sat down with a freshly poured cup of coffee and received a notification of this video being available. Thank you ☕️⚒️
He should make some videos with the forged and fire stipulations like prep cans, three hours random requirements for knife size and see the quality knife he can make in that short period of time also due to stipulations and making the handle like two hours or something like that to make a handle whatever fortune fire doing and also do multiple types of handles full tang hidden tang so on so on
This Knife is beautiful. Your talent is remarkable. Please keep producing these videos. You allow us to live vicariously. Thank you and God Bless You 🙏🏼
Cool knife! I think it is cool how the eye/mind sees patterns in the metal. I see remnants of screws, faces, and even some little men, with beards and arms! Cool video!
10 seconds in & I'm majorly Impressed, as another comment stated, I'm crazy super Impressed the start to finish process. Being a one person show must be tough, but as I'm continuing to watch I'm just in awe. I sent a link to family & I said Wow! You have to watch this VID, it's shot & edited like a professional, you know Forged in Fire'ish. What's better is watching the process, each & every step had purpose & though I'm unfortunately not able to learn the trade I still find it absolutely incredible that something from the ground is manipulated by processing then physically by a human. It's a dense material to work with, anyway I probably sound goofy gushing. I enjoy what you're putting out to the world. I Absolutely Love to learn which is the icing on the proverbial cake, you....to me it sounds & looks like a production did all that. Watching you entertaining for all the right reasons. Thank you

Is the coffee etch, just plain coffee or does it have some other chemicals mixed together?
It is instant coffee from walmart. The medium roast. All i do is mix it with water

I like the way you have everything ready like pre painting the canister. Great job you now have a great knife.
It takes a while to make the canister so i like to prep a few to have on hand instead of having to make one every time i make a canister build.
