Just a quick video showing the Margit, the Fell Omen boss fight in Elden Ring, doing it on a level 1 wretch without any weapon upgrades. Details below.
Just wanted to show this being done without any weapon or level reliance, as a few people on the previous Margit video were going on about being apparently over powered for the fight. There's specific attacks you can bait and punish every time, making the fight a safe one. I played a little more aggressively here to keep it entertaining and going for the stuns, but you can just get a few safe hits in each time and it'll get the job done.
Didn't get a chance to play the last two days, so will be going back to main character after this and progressing the game.

The way he timed his dodges so perfectly is so satisfying to watch, no panic dodges, no roll spam, just pure patience and timing

I was level 23 when I first beat him, utilizing magic and the summoned wolves. Mad respect for doing it with no upgrades and solo at level 1.

The key seems to be to NOT wait to dodge those super delayed attacks but rather walk in around and use the extra time to charge up attacks. Also worth noting that his stagger bar goes down quick so you gotta keep the pressure on.

This is my first Souls-ish type game and never played a FromSoftware game. Just beat Margit at level 16 after a shit ton of tries and i’m way too proud of myself for it. This video humbled me lol

I had to get to level 31 and use the summoned sorcerer, the wolves, exalted fruit, and a bunch of flasks to beat him, and I felt like a gamer god. Seeing you do that blows my mind

I was like level 22 and had 2 summoned people and beat him. I nearly died and I had to have my friend finish him lol.
Level 25 wolves and NPC dude. New to these games never played Dark Souls. Learned a ton from this and managed Godrick solo just past level 30. Didn’t end up using summons on him because it made the fight harder as they kept pulling him out of position.
I'm a dark souls veteran and still had to level up to like 25. In fairness, I'm using a DEX/INT build that I've never tried before. Estoc just wasn't cutting it. This game is great but it's a whole lot harder to find runes to level up and hard to get decent items if you're playing it blind. All the kids here saying 'omg you're so bad' are 100% following guides.

i, not even exaggerating, played for 6 hours straight trying to kill this dude i literally must have died about 300+times. My silly little old sword was only +1 and my armor wasn't upgraded yet. I was about level 15, as a confessor, so must've leveled up about 3 times starting the game.
I finished the game using mage utilizing everything the game provide.
Now I start playing this game using melee with no summon.
I can't kill this boss for almost 2 hour. I think I am bad at this game

I chose wretch in elden ring which is my first soulesgame cause i thought it would be funny to beat monsters with a club, but then i realised its not that funny cause im dying so much, so iexplored a bit of weeping pensinsula, got some armor and a shitty shield and average sword, and then came to margit. i am not sure how people are upgrading their weapons and even how any stat works except vigor. my vigor rn is around lvl 19 and i think strenght and endureacne are level 12

Is the Club secretly OP? I'm surprised it breaks his stance so quickly.
It's the 2-handed blunt weapon strong jump attack. It staggers a ton. Also, you'll notice that the player will hit with two of those attacks, then *wait* until the boss starts to get up, and then attacks for the crit. [insert chef kiss meme here]

Sent this to a friend who just started playing, picked the wretch. He did beat Margit at lvl 19 but I told him he could do it with just a club. I did it at lvl 20 and through tenacity alone... the dying... the dying... the brutal near-death victory... so satisfying.

Great R2 heavy attack use to break his poise, followed by critical attacks. You've got nerves of steel and great timing.

I was frustrated with my no hit sl1 run with him at first cause I was aggroing after 2nd phase and would always take a hit on his sword 3 strike spin. Seeing you disengage after his hammer strike keeps him from even using that move. Got it on my first try now thanks!
Man i shouldve watched this before doing my solo margit runs with vagabond. That running to his side when he does the overhead attack is so damn useful i always just dodge them
How does the stun mechanic work? Is is 3 charge/jump attacks within a certain time? You clearly know when an attack is going to stun.
It's a hidden meter, he just tested it a lot i would guess. With heavy/blunt weapont is procs more easily. Also the attacks that deal the most stun damage are fully charged heavy attack and jumping heavies then guard breaks (block+retaliate with a quick R2)
At 2:58 he does a slow sword+hammer swipe, but at 3:47 it seems a lot faster. I feel he has a different timing for this attack. Nice video! thanks for the inspiration!

At 0:11 you do a Heavy into a jump heavy, but when I try it seems he can jump before. Is there a weapon speed? How does it work?
Yeah. It is very unreliable. He will either jump before or hit with a tail spin. You need super good timing to hit him before he jumps away but then you always have a risk of the tail spin hitting you.

I couldn't figure out how to deal with his phase 2. Watching this video help so much (seeing especially the distance kept and waiting for "softer" melee attack to parry n) I no joke beat it right after, so thanks a lot!
No matter how long i wait or how many attemps he does the easy to punish charge up attack no more than twice the entire run
I had the pleasure to beat this guy, no summons, level 17 with level one starter prophet gear, you have no fucking idea how hard it is to kill Margit at such a weak state, pure skill and RNG is involved to beat him.
I was trying to figure out if I was perhaps underleveled for Margit. I think I've got a pretty clear answer here.
P.S. Is it me, or does the PS4 have a slight input lag? Your reflexes seem to be spot on, but I a feeling I need to press before he starts his moves sometimes. Didn't have that with Bloodborne.
how do you manipulate margit to not extend combos in the second phase
They have definitely buffed his stagger time since this video. I am trying to use the same strat with the club two handing it and he only staggers after 5 hits now
Depends how You have the club upgraded? Affinity? For me took 3 hits to stagger him with a club+4 and fire affinity
I came here to say the same thing. I am trying a level one run, and I hit him with a jump attack, a fully charged R2, another jump attack, a few R1s, ...and nothing, no stagger. And my club is at +5.
I figured it out. After I posted this I had to do a full charged R2, followed by 2 jump R2 but everything has to be in quick succession. He seems to have a quick stagger cool-down.
I’ve hit him all the way to a bit below half health not a single stagger in sight

Was level 21 when I beat him, 2nd try. I just summoned wolves, and the guy you get for free and used the shackles. He's easily distracted on summons so I just rear jump attacked until he was dead basically.

When I first beat Margit 2 years ago, it took me 50+ tries. Now, after playing all the DS games for 2 years, he looks SO SLOW lol
Funny how the AOE doesn’t cause damage and the downward strike stops following the character.
How do you stagger him so much? I placed a good amount of heavy attacks within a small amount of time but didnt get the staggers to go off
Blunt weapon two handed, full charge heavy attack followed by two quick jump heavy attacks all in quick succession is enough to break poise

They buffed his stagger meter for sure. I am trying a level one run, my club is at +5, and I just hit him with a fully charged R2, then a jump attack, then a few R1s, then ANOTHER jump attack...and nothing. No stagger.

Dunno much about these souls games but i guess it doesnt really matter how much you level up as long as you dont get hit and kill the bosses in the end
Leveling up gives you a buffer for your timing mistakes.
Use whatever works for you: Over leveling, cheese strats, or git gud.

Did they change the percentage to transition to phase 2? It seems he is transitioning at 2/3 health rather than 1/2 now. I can handle phase 1 but still phase 2 gets me every time. I probably have spent 6 hours. But I will endeavor to persevere.
