I don’t know if I can remember why I wrote that since it was two years ago. 😅 The first of the Ten Commandments states that we shouldn’t have any other gods before Him,and the second Ten Commandments states not to make ant graven images. These gods are all lies of the devil that draws us away from the true God. The devil comes to kill, steal, destroy our lives, and he is the father of all lies. God can not lie. God desires for all men to be saved, but he will not force us to love Him. He desires a relationship which I think is awesome. I’m glad that my salvation doesn’t depend on me because I sin everyday. I don’t want to sin, but I’m either going to say or do something I shouldn’t; or not do or not say something I should. Just like on the hymns states “My hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frain, but wholly lean on Jesus name. On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.”

@@whoopeeshaw8806 Thanks for the reply, I am genuinely curious about this things. As a child I heard that gods don't exists, except for the only one God, and that the Scripture use of "gods" was appropriate for biblical times because people then believed in many gods. For contemporary believers, those verses can be interpreted as injunctions against idolizing people and treating material object or social values as if they were divine. I was just wondering if people still believe that there are many gods out there, like you know, Zeus, Thor, Quetzalcoatl, Osiris and that they compete with God for human devotion. Have a great weekend.

Oh man, how I needed this. I was feeling terrible over something I'm going through again, so I walked from my room to school (I'm in University) because my WiFi wasn't strong enough. I couldn't read the Bible on my own right now, so I really wanted to watch a sermon, anything. I'm glad I watched this one. Thank you Mike, I'm not in a rush to get better now, I'm going to endure this season in my life, God is good and purposeful. He can take away our problems instantly, but if He does not it's not because He can't but because there's a lesson. Thank you.

For the past year or so I've been going through trials that have been very hard for me and I'd completely despair and cry to God for help like my life depended on it. Then God would come with his grace and I would be so relieved and thankful. But then I would think, God is faithful, why am I despairing like that?? God is good! God is full of compassion! And I would feel bad about it -- my reaction to trials. As time went on and I went through trials regularly, I continued to react the same way, but each time sooner and sooner I would realize how I reacted and feel bad about it and I realized that I just kept doing it over and over again... I was like, man! God, why do I keep reacting this way?! I want to grow through these trials but I just suck... And now a year later, the moment of despair and the moment of clarity are starting to overlap and I'm getting to the point where I'm starting to remember that God is faithful while I'm in the trial! It's not perfect lol but still God is working on me and I'm grateful even though it's been gruesome at times lol. Praise God and God bless all of you in your trials. ♥ Hope in him.

I hold these truths in chapter 5 dear to my heart but hearing them really rekindled what I know to be true as we experience this lockdown through-out our nation and the world. It may be a good idea to refer to this teaching for brothers and sisters to listen to on one of your life streams. May the Lord continue to bless you, your family and your ministry!

Hi Mike, thank you, thank you for your teachings! it's been helping me so much in my bible studies which is new for me (about 6 months). Theology is what I was lacking in my Christian life, since digging into scripture, I came to learn how worldly I was and that I had been living as a Carnal Christian since I got saved and as a result I felt no peace with God, in fact I would turn away from Him at times due to the fears that He was disappointed in me like you said here (I felt immense conviction). I really needed to hear this today, it definitely helped me, especially the part about a ceasefire with God and no peace with Him. God bless you Brother, please keep up the great work you do, you're touching lives far and wide with your teachings! :)

I have been doing study along with your videos on the Bible. The thing I really like is that you show it by going to scripture, not just your own versions. I admit that every sermon, I write down the scriptures used so that when home, I can read the entire thing myself to see it myself. I am so blessed to say that the church I am fortunate to attend is a Bible preaching, Bible only type of church. That's why your style of teaching is so good. One thing, in this video, at the end, you mentioned the CS Lewis "Pilgrims Progress" type of philosophical progress, I listened and relistened and couldn't catch title. I would like to listen to it. What was the name of it. Thanks and God Bless.

Yes. One thing I very much appreciate about Mike is that he never professes to 'know all truth' but encourages us to search it out for ourselves...to test what he says to see if it lines up with the text. I love his encouragement to 'never put the teacher above the text'. Brilliant admonishment to the church.

  • @emf49

This was a brilliant teaching on 'suffering'. I passed it along to a couple of my friends who have suffered greatly under the doctrine of 'the prosperity gospel'. They are anxious to hear the kind of teaching you offer here.
There are so many people who have been injured by this evil doctrine. Years ago, a friend of mine had a stillborn baby and the parents were told it was 'because there was sin in their lives'. My 10-year-old daughter (who was attending Christian school) was also told that her baby sister was not healed because there was sin in our lives!! Can you imagine telling a child that?? Thankfully, the Lord did not allow anyone in our family to buy into that theology. Not only are we saved by His Grace, but we are kept from evil by His Grace. I am so grateful to Jesus for steering me away from false teachings thus far, and I am continually on guard against it. I believe the greatest gift the Body of Christ needs today is "discernment". These are perilous times in terms of the twisting of scripture.
Apart from all of the above, I found this teaching very helpful to me in my current situation. Life is seldom without pain and your encouragement to 'glory in trials' was a challenge to my soul.
Thanks for your sold biblical teaching Mike. :) May the Lord continue to bless you as you minister His Word to His Church.

Mike, I love your teachings, thank you so much!
Just one thing, you talked about going from church to church and how wrong it is. I cannot find a Bible teaching church in my neighborhood so I praise God, read and study His Word daily by myself. There is no greater love than His...I couldn't live this life without Him every hour. I have many opportunities to share with neighbors, co workers, family, friends and people I meet. He is my all and everything and I'm not shy about it.
Please know it is difficult out here. A church is not necessary in my case, I learn well on my own since I was 12 (62 now). Please do not teach others that they cannot find and serve God without a church....it's just not true. God is within us...He will guide, direct, grow and work in us just as He wills with or without a church group.
People are everywhere and I love sharing God's joy and hope with others. To be honest...going to church can be a stumbling block of cliques, judgementalness, improper teachings and abuse if you 'ask questions' regarding a teaching that doesn't alilgn with God's Word. Many churches in my neighborhood do not walk with Christ but rather the world or a founder of that church (there are many isms I have learned of: Calvin, Ellen White, LGBTQ (my neighbor pastors it, I shared 2 Peter with him as he shuns Paul's teachings, etc), LDS (Joseph Smith), JW, Saddleback Rick Warren, Calvary Chapels teaching new age or calvinism (one pastor bullied me as I was trying to ask how do we help two bible study group members who were not married but living together and we held them up in prayer every week for months over various health, job and family issues...maybe God wanted them to do the right thing? I started crying when he sternly told me I was arrogant...I prayed silently asking God to give me courage to finish. In the end the pastor ended up hugging me and tell me I had a good heart. They do not care about walking in God's Ways nor teaching it. Leadership is why the church is a mess and toxic for true believers.)
God bless you for your ministry online, as the churches fail to teach His Word fully, there are so many isms...He uses faithful teachers such as you to help sheep such as me, thank you

We are saved by New Covenant participation. "Faith" is not mental assent. Faith is New Covenant participation. It's active. It involves works. Not works of Torah (Old Covenant Law) but works none the less, works of faith. The Reformers misunderstood Paul and thought he was contrasting mental assent and actions. He wasn't. He was contrasting the Old and New Covenants.

"Not Ready" means I know that I have not done enough to contribute to the kingdom. I want more time to do more for others. Given that heaven is eternal, I am glad to spend as much time as possible in this life helping others and trying to achieve my pre-destination - no rush, man. Actually seems a bit selfish to get a glimpse of heaven and then desire nothing more than leaving this life to be with Jesus. Paul is the model.

@@SunnyDays70s Well thank you. I'm not sure if you have read the Bible or not, if you have you know different parts of the Bible offer those things. Plus I believe you have misunderstood those words in addition to the sermon. The Bible is to be read in context. Obviously, when someone is raped or sth, you don't just straight tell them, "it's good you were raped something good will come out of it." I think that is common sense. Or when someone is in a house where the spouse or parent is abusing them, I did previously say this verse is not saying to say sth like "it's okay bear with it sth good will come out of it." That's not the meaning of this verse. And I also did not speak in that context. Plus everyone handles things differently. Yes, I can't change the past, but my experience did produce those things. I stated that as a matter of fact not implying that you tell someone "oh bear with it, things will workout." Like I said, I think that on it's own is common sense.

What do we do if we find relief in His grace, but then immediately get tempted to go off and sin? I'm so tired.
What happens when you repent, and work and work and work, and try and try and try not to sin, because we are called to deny our flesh, but then it gets really overwhelming and we learn that we can't do it on our own, and we need God's grace, and that's the point of Jesus death and resurrection, so then we put our faith and trust in Him and rely solely on His grace, just to find out that once we do that, we fall into sin and stop doing good works because we no longer rely on ourselves but rely on His sacrifice?
The Bible says that when we truly put our faith in Him, we will grow in good works and come to hate our sin, but what happens when we really do put our faith in Him, and we aren't compelled to do good works and we are still just as prone to sin as before?
Am I just SOL? Is this just a sign that I'm too far gone and I should give up? I hate this.

So I guess you'd be happy to go to a doctor who has never been to medical school or employ a lawyer who has never been to law school but you'd rather not listen to anyone who has studied Thrology in case you become an atheist. How do you know what Jesus done for you on the cross unless you have studied His Word.

God has been dealing with me on this because I live my life always cognizant of how I treat people and what I say to them. I won’t take a boyfriend because fornication is a sin. Worried about (on the day of judgement) having to take into account the sins I’ve committed; worried that I’m doomed for hell. That’s the ‘theology’ that I grew up on. So, now, I’m actually confused.

Some people try sew that curtain back together by trying to keep the law. They think till heaven and earth pass has to first before the law is past. Jesus said till the law is fulfilled it won't pass. Some think to that fulfilled doesn't mean the law ended. They sure have their priorities mixed up.

Mike, while you're seeing the HEAVENLY MINDED, the correct way,,,many older christians used this saying in a way that is true, HEAVENLY MINDED, more like the pharisee that passed by the robbed beat up man, in the parable of good Samaritan,,,but saying too "religious" doesn't have the right ring to it.
Good example of older wisdom ! The older generation usually got the meaning

The Bible addresses two different problems (1) taking assurance as a license to live fruitless, selfish lives or (2) encouraging those who struggle with ministry and personal sin. The problem is that the wrong groups are taking the wrong message and building theological systems on limited biblical passages. Some Christians desperately need the message of assurance, while others need the stern warnings of perseverance! Which group are you in? Professor Utley

A lot of your teachings are spot on. But I can only take someone so seriously who pretends the prospect of death or Christ's return is nothing to be apprehensive about. Fear of the unknown (if it were known then it wouldn't be faith and you would have earned it) is probably the only universal human fear and pretending you're above it is either delusional at best, or at worst dishonest.
I hope for your sake it's the former because, like I said I like much of what you have to say.

    • @natediemer1306
      @natediemer1306 4 роки тому +2

I don't think it is delusional to be unafraid of death or of seeing Christ face to face if we trust his promises to us. Philippians 1:21 is clear in saying "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain" coming from Paul himself. With an understanding of this theology that we are justified through Christ's work on the cross and accepted because of faith in God, we don't need to fear one day being in his presence. We do not earn this understanding because it is only by his grace that we are able to begin to comprehend his goodness and the work he did for us on the cross. Our faith is through and because of the work he already did for us, out of love. Fear and reverence of the Lord and his majesty and power are not the same as the crippling fear that comes from our adversary, Satan.
While we don't know specifics about many things to come in the future, it is not a delusion to live with the spirit of peace rather than the spirit of fear. The freedom that we as Christians experience through the Holy Spirit removes our shackles of fear. Because of our washing with Christ's blood, we can come before his throne of grace in prayer. Again in Philippians 4:6-7 Paul states, "do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Our coming to God in prayer, and truly experiencing his Holy Spirit gives us a peace that even Paul says transcends our understanding. This peace not only has authority over how we understand the world and our suffering, but moreover, the inner workings of God's peace itself are incomprehensible to us as humans. This knowledge of this peace comes through God's word, which we trust if we trust One who inspired that word.
Just knowing about these promises does not however save us or give us peace, but rather experiencing God personally, and placing our trust in Him, defines who we are as Christians. Until a few years ago I wished so badly to experience God and live in this peace I heard other people speak about, but I refused to set aside my life, take up my cross, and follow his word. I wanted to experience God but I didn't want to change how I was living or let Him become the desire of my heart. I wanted His goodness and promises without Him, while I remained the God of my own life. Until I fell before the throne of grace, I thought this peace was a myth or at least a special privilege reserved for the most obedient of Christians which I surely would never be. It took firstly God's grace, and a genuine discipleship relationship to teach me that peace with God wasn't something that was earned, but was lived in through Trust in the person of God himself, and the work of his Holy Spirit.
I apologize for the long winder answer, I only know so much as one who is far from any grey hairs. I just want it to be known that the peace of God, assurance of our salvation, and knowledge of his goodness can overcome the uncertainty of life that lies before us.

Are you able to provide biblical support for the claim that we should say, "I'm going to Heaven?" I'm asking this because in my experience it's the most narcissistic Christian with notions of predestination that utters this statement. I am one of the people you poked at there, feeling that this is evidence of pride and a different kind of usurping God's judgement and authority. No one in the bible ever said, "I'm going to Heaven." The closest thing I can think of is "I have fought a good fight." In my understanding, a more humble/appropriate response to someone asking "Are you going to Heaven?" would be to say, "I'm trusting in Jesus to get me there." This seems to put the credit more where it is due.

If you live in iniquity you are under Gods wrath...Not living in sin is not salvation by works like you guys love to twist....
Hebrews 10:26-31 King James Version (KJV)
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
30 For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.
31 It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Know this all you born again believers: The blood of Christ ACTUALLY was sprinkled on the Mercy Seat. Jesus's blood had to end up there. It was THE LAW. And Jesus said He would fulfill every jot and tittle of the law! That earthquake at the crucifixion, opened up a pathway for His blood to go deep into the earth to end up where the Ark lies hidden to this day. 20 feet underground. At Golgotha. Near the garden tomb. PRAISE GOD. Dan 9:24... His blood "anointed the most holy". 1stJohn 5-" there are 3 in earth- the water , the blood, and the HS" (the shekinah glory of God- the "spirit" of God in the cloud around the ark). Halleluja! Praise God. This ark will come out as the Ab of Desol. when the final earthly temple is built...probably over a 3.5 year period. But first, one of the mosques must go.. the al-Aqsa, to make room for it.

Hebrews chapter 9 would disagree with you.
"It was necessary, then, for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these sacrifices, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made with human hands that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence. Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own. Otherwise Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But he has appeared once for all at the culmination of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself."
