Hope you all enjoy this one. Just an FYI - we talk over videos! We're Irish and we can't help it but we are taking it all in. We had just listened to the album right before watching the drum cam
I’ve seen more than 100 different reactions to this video, and this was bad. Just from the viewer’s perspective (who is watching the video and has been waiting for this specific reaction), it was just disappointing, just my opinion. This is the best video ever made and the guy on the right said “I didn’t need to see that. I didn’t need to see that”.
I love how these guys criticize people recording on phone instead of listening to a concert, then spend 40% of each song talking over it and missing entire segments. Lol, but regardless thank you for the series, enjoy it so far. Just please make sure the song is audible over the mics, it's super low and can mostly hear breathing & mic ramble.
To be fair, they HAD just listened to the original audio of the song a few minutes prior; even though they were 2 separate videos. This was more of a watch Danny go and comment/talk than a reaction.
@@carlhurley6115This performance is quite different from the studio version, it’s way better, so they should have listened and paused when they talked, not to mention the heavy breathing over the quiet music, just a bad experience as a viewer, it’s part of the job of being a reactor and content creator
A click track is a metronome in your ear. I don’t know what your musician friend is thinking. He’s talking about electronic drum pads. And Danny is playing an Indian tabla drum, not a timpani. “A click track is a series of audio cues that act as a metronome to help musicians keep time when recording or performing live. It's usually generated on a computer or app and played through headphones or in-ear monitors. The click track can be a simple four-beat metronome or more complex, depending on the song's needs. It can also include time signature and tempo changes, as well as additional clicks or cues to indicate upcoming sections.”
What’s with all the extra noises on this video it makes it hard to hear the actual video without it sounding distorted. They also keep hitting their mikes and they need to pause if they want to talk instead of missing the best parts talking right through them.
Love your show Gentlemen!!! I like that you listened to the studio version of this first then jumped right into the drum cam because then you can really appreciate the wizardry of Danny Carey! More Tool please 🌀
You guys will also enjoy Sober live ( the one where Maynard is wearing the pink onesie) he preforms the song as both the addict and addiction …. Epic performance
It's like going to a museum of Van Gogh paintings. Sure, we've all seen "Starry Night", but have you been there to actually appreciate the painting? Sure, you can hear Pneuma and like it, but you were disrespecting the artist at work. (IMO) I mean, I still respect you guys and I'll stay tuned cause I think you guys are entertaining, I'm just saying you need to take the ''L" on this one.
You’re totally right. Probably the worst listeners on a reaction channel. They’ll start talking in the middle of a song, NOT pause it, and talk right through a major transition like it never even happened.
They played this last year at Rockville in FL and when he has both base drums going you feel in your chest. Amazing to watch. At the festival they really couldn't stop people from videoing. But literally just saw Maynard with his other two bands and yeah no videos till they sang Grand Canyon.
You know what I think would be a cool jester for your videos, put the videos you react to on one of those TVs behind you. I think I'd be different from everyone else's reactions.
Fans are allowed to video for one song, the last song. By the way I am the person who set up the camera that shows Danny head on. We had three cameras but the one we placed behind him kept going out so that's why only the two views of the drum cam . I work here in the Boston area for Vic Firth, which is also a subsidiary of Zildjian Cymbals which is also based in the Boston area. We had a suite at this show (TD Garden) and we all talked to Danny for a little while before the show. I got to sit behind his kit and it's funny because he's 25.4 cm taller than me so it was a little challenge for me to line up the cam so he would fit in the shot.
That's amazing to hear. And thank you for your comment. Paddy (guy in the hat) and Alvaro have become a big fans of Danny's. Hard not to be when you watch him go to work
I love watching these two and I’m so happy you guys are doing TOOL reactions because there is not one other bands like them on the planet. That being said, there is a few things you could do that are very easy that would increase the quality of audio here. I will watch and love these, no matter what, but I see other people complaining about the breathing and what not. A change you can make physically is just getting some decent windscreens that you could just clip to the mic stand. They will definitely help some. In addition to that when editing in post, use a noise gate. In your noise gate plug-in, enable the side chain feature, and set a high pass filter to get rid of those breathing frequencies. You can adjust the attack of the noise gate filter as well so as soon as they start talking, you hear them clearly right away instead of it gradually getting louder. It may sound harder than it really is but once you do it once or twice it’s very very easy. Like I said, I will love these videos, no matter what, but some people are very sensitive to those Bass filled breathing frequencies Thanks for putting these fellas onto TOOL!
Was soooo looking forward to your reaction - the sound was terrible.- microphone too close? I’m not an expert. And then talking through his multi limb multi time signatures patterns? I find that part mesmerizing- can’t take my eyes off him. Next level drumming.
The rhythm section in my favorite bands really stand out. Tool, Black Sabbath, and Pink Floyd. They make a good band great. And I agree, no cell phones at concerts. You can actually be in the moment. Great reactions. I saw him do a gong solo. It’s amazing the sounds he gets from it. I feel like you would’ve appreciated the build up that you talked over though.
In case you wanted to see more drum cam footage of Danny Carey there is a 46min and 2 sec video (yes 46 and 2) of him playing live back in 2002. On a side note, I just saw them live last night in Birmingham and they were amazing as always. Here is the link to the video from 2002: ua-cam.com/video/D5dh50LBtnc/v-deo.html
I have to record everything because I will not remember it by next week. Especially things with my children. Sorry if M memory is screwed, but if I don't record it and look back on it it will be forgotten forever.
I was listening to this on a very good sound system and all I could hear every 2 seconds was the guy breathing into the microphone. And it comes through as like a bassy tone. I literally had to stop watching.
That was AWSM-having listened proper to the music, loved that U just let Urselves be astounded by the talent & musicianship!! Those raging abt all the talking thrū can fuQ on abt it- Appreciate Ur sharing & looking forward to the next
Video audio needs to go way up boys and commentary down. I can hear my man breathing over the sound of tool playing 😂 love your channel this is just constructive criticism
I'm about to watch the reaction vid, but don't forget that this is a very rare professionally produced and recorded from the soundboard live performance of a Tool song. If you get a chance, go back and shut down the video so you can focus on the song as a whole or maybe just the bass or guitar parts. When you focus on just the drums you tend to miss what the rest of the band is doing. I know it was the drum stick maker that put this on YT, and the intention was to focus on Danny, but it's still an amazing sounding recording that was OK'd by the band to allow it to be distributed.
Fellows, besides talking to much and saying nothing, your microphones need better isolating from your beards etc. And, his drums kit is not a normal one - you need to do some research before making statements like that.
Too much talking, not enough listening. Should have paused it. Nothing sounds worse than when you listen with one side of the headphone on and someone yammering on.
Don't. Ever. Talk. Over. The. Song. The pause button is your best friend. Use it liberally. Say what you gotta say, as often as you want to, then go back 5 secs and hit play again. This was unwatchable for me. Sorry guys.
Wow…reaction videos aren’t really your thing now are they….turn the music way up and your commentary and breathing way down….balance….talking is the idea but not to where it totally drowns out the music
Hope you all enjoy this one. Just an FYI - we talk over videos! We're Irish and we can't help it but we are taking it all in. We had just listened to the album right before watching the drum cam
All due respect, can someone stop breathing into the mic? :)
People shouldn’t watch reaction videos if they don’t like people talking over the music. Go watch the actual video!
That's fair enough lads BUT ye talked over the whole highpoint of the tune..how is it then a reaction to the solo in pneuma if ye spoke over it?
I’ve seen more than 100 different reactions to this video, and this was bad. Thats cool and all but youre missing alot to react to when your talking and attempting to multi task.
Is anyone else's volume on the track audio incredibly low?
Gentlemen, you listened to the studio.and talked over the best live performance on the internet. I was bummed out
Talking through this masterpiece is criminal
"But how do they do that live?"
DUDE, THAT WAS LIVE!! In Boston. In front of thousands of people!
I was at that show. It was a great show at my least favorite venue.
Literally talked over the entire best part! :(
that's why i stopped watching
thank you

@@carlhurley6115 Yea, and they talked through the entirety of the original too.
Guys were talking the whole vid🤣
Need better audio balance, higher music volume, lower breathing / talking volume. Couldn't hear 80% of the song

May I suggest pausing if they are gonna talk for 3 to 4 minutes of the song.

Literally talked over the solo WTF?
It's called pneuma but I didn't need to hear you breathing the whole song. 😂
😂😂😂🥇
Lol yea mute their mics until they want to talk...while the song is paused.

That's the Reading festival from 1993.
I don't mind pausing and talking, but HOLY HELL!!! You spoke over the last half of the song! So frustrating
You know the song already though...don't you? And we'd heard the song right before watching this so?
