You're a rockstar! I just got a 2006 Limited 4WD with 63K miles! A true unicorn 4th gen. Cannot wait to build out the back and turn it into an adventure overlander. Thank you thank you thank you thank you!
Yessir, genius only scratches the surface of this man's skills & creativity. The best design I have ever seen. I will modify my current design accordingly. Thank you.
Don’t have a 4runner but a Wrangler, want to use the same idea but on a smaller scale. Fantastic build man, looked all over the Internet and nothing comes close to what I would want but your design. Thank you for sharing, will be showing everyone what you do!
Hey man, been rocking these DIY draws for the last 3 years they’ve been awesome. I was curious if you ever made an addition to extend the platform to the front seats? Thanks man!
Heavy hinges are a must as there is a lot of weight hanging out at end. Lots of down pressure at box opening. A leg down to ground is extra security. If hinge should get bent. no way to close it.
Thats ok and i appreciate the concern. I agreee this is a good additonal step just in case, however, I feel confident in these drawer slides are they are 500lb capacity and i can move the whole call with them extended
I have watched hundreds of DIY SUV drawer system builds! I have hours and hours invested in watching them! I NEVER comment on them.....but in your case I MAKE an exception. I like your build, it is a very usable and well thought out compilation of other builds I have seen. You have humble and articulate presentation....well done! I do not like the leather/soft handles and the fact that the drawers do not lock but that is easily remedied. I will be adapting it to a new suburban (with quick in and out capabilities. Thank you.
Thanks for the feedback, the drawer slides do lock in and out. If you want a key lock that can be added like you mentioned. Please be sure to tag us on social media as we like to repost other project in different platforms. More platforms coming soon!
ok THIS is by a VERY long shot the BEST set of drawers I have ever seen!!!!! I am totally adapting this to my LX470 build. OMG you sir are so freaking smart and practical!
Dude i don't know anything about building anything but you are a badass iam going to get a 4runner soon cuz i love camping but this setup you did is so nice thanks for your professional way of helping others god bless ....jay miami florida
I was trying to figure out how to mount my own custom drawers in the back of my 4th gen. I stumbled across this. I will now be rebuilding my drawers to be just like these! I'm so happy there's a way to secure the drawers AND have the rear seats useable. Thank you!
Wow! By far the cleanest and best design I have seen. I’m going to adapt this design for truck bed storage system for my Tacoma. Thanks for sharing. I am subscribing to see more.
Really a professional looking and well thought out system. There are a few DIY systems out there on UA-cam that are very crude by comparison. Thanks for sharing your plans!!! Would love to see a set of plans for a 5th gen 4Runner. I am curious to see what you do with the propane while travelling. Having an unvented propane canister inside a vehicle makes me nervous!!!
You put your own creative twist on this & it's amazing.. Thanks for sharing ur video and blueprints.. This could be your very own business by creating a universal module that would encompass all SUV etc.. God bless
Very nice work. I live in Romania and also have a Pajero sport just like the one near you and I ve made a sleeping platform in the back. It s a great experience! Good luck and great adventure!
We'll be selling plans for others, but I can;t fathom charging people $1400 for something like this. I prefer our method and thanks for the kind words!
Really great job - did you ever consider putting some sort of drop down pole to add stability to the kitchen drawer pull out? Could be just a screw on pole that you store in the side with your chairs. Well done
great work mate and help is needed as I've been wanting to build my own and haven't found any good plans and didn't want to spend to much on store brought ones
Most Excellent Adventure Index! I have the same model and color 4Runner though a 2004. Years ago I put on an Airland Maggiolina rooftop tent and installed a makeshift drawer system. I just got the bug to freshen up my setup and came across your video so thank you, I will be following your design prints. Quick question, the Amazon links to the drawer slides no longer show an option for 22" and 36" but only 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 24 or 28. I'll likely find a solution with some digging but if you have the info already that would be greatly appreciated.
Love that set up! I have a Limited v6 4th gen bone stock. Do you have a in depth walk around video of your rig? I will be down loading your blue prints and would like to know your suspension set up and rim size, offset and tire size. Thanks alot!!

What’s the screw thread pitch/size of the bolts used to attach the rear of the drawers to the chassis?
Sorry I am unsure and do not want to tell you the wrong value. I assume metric but would encourage you to verify with forums or hardware store.

Very nicely done. Looking to do the same with my 4x4 Suburban for my landscape photography outings.
Really great job - did you ever consider putting some sort of drop down pole to add stability to the kitchen drawer pull out? Could be just a screw on pole that you store in the side with your chairs. Well done
It was considered indeed, but the strength of these slides gives me enough confidence to feel it is not needed.
Excellent build. Thanks for the share.

This is pretty cool, wonder if it’ll work on the 3rd gens
I have plenty of access to free scrap 7/16 OSB, would that be a material that I could effectively use to build this?
I would only reccomend high ply cabinet grade baltic birch.
