On a 500, this can be done by lust loosening the rail with the toolhead at one end, then there's enough range of movement to add the second carriage on the other end. I removed my extra carriage this way. On smaller machines, I think this won't be possible, but I don't know.
Bro wtf if you got to the point where you want to upgrade the printer that means you got it running in the first place, so adding another head won't really be that hard 🤦

So if I'm ordering a completely new printer, and I click the "customize and add to cart" everything check is what I need to have a complete basic printer right? I don't need what is not check by default right? Like I don't need the "1 x Bed Plate - Cast tolling plate" or the "1 x RASBERY PI"? So to get it with IDEX I would need to check "...HYBRID Upgrade Kit", and all 4 items in the IDEX section?
You do. I do understand that the ordering process is a bit confusing. For the Vcore4 the only thing that is selected by default is the mecanical kit (extrusions, linear rails, etc). You have to check every item you need for the 3d printer separately. You need to select the extruder, hotend, motors, and so on. As a rule of thumb, just check everything, and go from there. You can unselect some parts, because you may have them already at home (I already had fans and the Z motors, so i did not order them) To own a ratrig is pretty involved. I would NOT recommend it as a first printer.
That stopper to prevent the nozzle from leaking is genius. So simple and then you don't have to go through all of the extra steps to purge the nozzle before continuing. Probably speeds up the process a ton. I can see basically every MM system stealing this idea (assuming it's not patented).

@@Vaynexx_ Yes, there is a BOM, but without knowledge what the contents of each hardware pack is I can't tell if I need the CAN toolboard from the second option or if it's included in the IDEX Hardware Pack v1.0. Hi! You need Hybrid to have IDEX, but you don't need IDEX to have Hybrid. The kit you're asking for doesn't exist! :) Can you let me know what did you find confusing / unclear in specific? Happy to look into it!
@@ilovetechnology8436 you need all of the packages on the list unless you can source any of the materials/parts yourself. The biggest cost is hotend/nozzle so it bumps the price up a fair bit.

They are really completely different machines tho. XL is a tool changer and that is a loy slower then ratos quick swap is. Pluses and minuses to both but once they figure out MMC iDex it will be kinda game changing, more or less instant material changes. This is what I've been trying to get my tridex to do with ERCFs but I'm too dumb. I don't think multi zone heating is needed on a < 500mm build plate. The zones would be so small and the chonky bed would soak up the heat so fast it would run 100% none stop.
@@JH-zo5gk you have to separate the bed too with a little space between. This allows for expansion and keeps the bed flat. Large beds when heated want to warp. Also, why heat the entire bed when you are only printing on a small area. The additional power cost is large and unnecessary.
@@T313COmun1s7 if you're using a big printer just to use a small section of the bed for small prints, you're better off just buying a smaller printer with less moving mass, therefore faster. Multiple heating areas in big, enclosed printers like the Prusa XL and the Voron Phoenix are cool gimnicks, that's all.
@T313COmun1s7 the power cost? Eh. The few extra pennies spent are not really a factor once you $2500 into a printer. Besides we use the bed to heat the chamber by blow fans on it and I think most people are printing materials other then pla and petg on these so a heated chamber makes things much more better. Idk to each their own. I got this cause I like to tinker and wanted a large powerful machine. Also my 400mm build plate starts with a 0.07mm mesh at room temp and flattens to 0.06mm at 75c so warping isn't a issue with a well-made precision plate.
Im not going to lie... Looks like ill be cancelling my pre-order this week. Im even more bummed to have this excitement squashed, but i just refuse to support greed and bloated pricing.
Where is the shipping to and what is the weight, is it the whole printer? You should know this is increasingly common especially with international shipping or large items. I’ve had to ship things items via freight and occasionally the shipping costs more than the item itself
They are not only charging for the hardware and assembly, but to cover for all the R&D needed to get to this point. They must have run their numbers and ended up happy with this value. Either they don't expect to sell as much as it cost to develop or they want to make up for it as fast as possible as anyone can come up with a better alternative anytime. But it is true that for this price you can almost buy two whole Bambu A1's or one P1S. They cannot be compared as they are in two complete different leagues.
