    Is it normal that I have a strong impulse to cough while throat singing for a bit? Does it improve with practice?

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal  2 місяці тому +1

      The urge to cough might be a sign that your vocal folds are working way too hard and there's an extra friction that irritates them. Normally, it shouldn't appear and the level of comfort should be at least on 7/10 (when 10/10 feels like "heaven" and 1/10 means that you feel like you are about to lose your voice).
      The most common traps causing the discomfort are:
      1. Lack or not sufficient work of the breath support,
      2. Flexing abs way too hard,
      3. Pushing too much air through the throat,
      4. Aiming for too loud or too high sound,
      5. Tension in the neck, jaw or larynx.
      You can also try a simpler method:

    hey, could you maybe talk about the role of the arytenoid cartilage in Kargyraa? when I try to throat sing, I achieve the most similar sound if I shift to what I think is the arytenoid cartilage rattle, whereas the false cord distortion only barely sounds akin to actual throat singing. could definitely be that I cannot correctly distinguish between those two, therefore I'd highly appreciate u talk about it :)

      Hello, I think that in some cases, arytenoid cartliages can be engaged during the kargyraa but I would need to make a research and take a group of throat singers to the laryngoscopy to see if that's something regular, rare or it doesn't happen to trained throat singers.
      Also, some people mistaken the kargyraa with the subharmonic singing. The main difference in such a case is that the subharmonic singing is a result of combining the vocal fry with a clean sound, instead of the false vocal folds engagement and the clean sound.
      On the other hand, I heard from one person who records vocal tutorials that arytenoid cartilages can also create a sound similar to the vocal fry but it's "heavier" and has more rattle.
      It's hard to tell what exactly you achieve without having a chance to listen to your vocals. If you have a recording, send me it on email - xvocalcenter@gmail.com

    Does going from kargyraa to fry scream by the method in your video "Kargyraa Throat Singing To Fry Scream Tutorial" produce a hybrid scream? I'm trying to learn how to fry scream with my false cords engaged which to my understanding is what a hybrid scream is, so just wondering! 😄

    • @sibilaextremevocal
      @sibilaextremevocal  2 місяці тому

      Yes, it might be called a hybrid scream. It depends on the amount of the false vocal folds engagement while fry screaming.

    Just a question. How much of the material on Imperial Sin's channel did you do vocals for?

      I recorded vocals for the album Reality Denied that came out last year. The previous releases feature someone else and those vocals sound really good as well.
