Unsafe SCHOOL BUS STOP forces kids to WALK on the STREET!

  • This is a very special one. I got caught behind a bus this week and was shocked to see the stop the kids got off at! Another complete dumping ground. The kids had to walk on the street because the sidewalks were completly trashed. I knew right then that this would by my next project.
This one took 2 days but it was well worth it. Found a couple toilets, front bumper, diapers, and a whole lot of trash. Also, my truck window got smashed - but it was all worth it to see the end result!

We pay taxes to the schools, the cities, the states... and it take a random stranger with no ties to the property to make it safe for these kids to walk home after getting off a bus every day. Disgraceful!
Thank you for helping these kids out. You're a gem.

Where are the parents? They can't meet with the school board, write to their representative and ask why this isn't being taken care of, or plan a group cleanup with other parents and kids to clean it up? Just seems lazy and the kids get put into the street where it's not safe either.

@@Beach-Star-Experience-550-YT I think people don't 'see' things. They drive by it every day and just become desensitized to it. Also, a lot of people don't prioritize landscaping/yardwork, so they really don't see any problem with overgrowth. I think it's more of a perception difference than laziness.

Suburban cities don't really take in enough money to really take care of every block of road and sidewalk. They rely on new suburban areas and inner city zones to pay for the maintenance of other older areas. Unfortunately, that Ponzi-like game fails apart when they stop growing, and now they have large stretches of roads and infrastructure they need to maintain. So, they have started neglecting some areas of the city to maintain the areas that generate business, taxes, and happy Donors.

This then, is the responsible of the landowner for letting the vegetation get out of control. Could the city council gone around identifying abandoned property, and made it a project for citizens to clean up and make it a safer neighborhood, or even make it a Saturday event.

Actually, it's the city's responsibility to keep the sidewalks clear.
And yea, the property owner has probably been cited a few times but has done nothing to remedy the issue.
I would have cited the prop owner for a potential fire violation.. but that's just me.

In our community it's the property owner's responsibility to keep the sidewalk free of ice, snow, etc. They will mow an overgrown property and then charge the landowner. I live in a village of 900 though.

Had a business owner in Missouri was told to cut the grass in front of his store, but told he couldn't put a sign up because it was not his property. He told whoever was telling him to cut it that if he can't put a sign up he will not cut it so city takes care of it.

I have nothing to add to these wonderful comments! The school children, their parents, the city, the property owners on the other side of the fence, the community, everyone owes you a HUGE debt of gratitude!! Some people drive by and remark how awful that overgrown garbage dump looks, but you pulled over and made it look safe and clean and neat! Hope you got some insurance to cover the broken window. Thanks for inspiring so many people and for your dedication and hard work!!!

@@mariongerrie3840so... instead of studying, learning, and helping out their own families, you'd rather they do landscaping work for someone else for free after school?

@@LexYeen Yeah, why would we want to instill a sense of pride and connection to their community. I mean seriously, the guy was only there for 2 days, how could they possibly find the time to go and load up some garbage bags to help out? They seemed perfectly fine walking in traffic, it builds character! Pishtosh I say.

When no one takes care of everyone's problem, those special citizens emerge who make a difference.
You, Sr., are A MODEL CITIZEN.
I wonder, why neither the children nor their parents gave a hand?

It's actually a shame that the property owner couldn't be damned to give a fuck about their property and let it fall into that state. Property owners, depending on the city, are responsible for the sidewalk areas surrounding their property.

people should quit relying on guv to clean up their communities
then step up to the plate and do it, like this gentleman did.
too many complain about it n never do anything about it. but socialism seems to perpetuate victim hood. i would have loved to see neighborhood kids and teens helping too. peace~

I was thinking the same thing--early pruning will probably make the foliage on the fence thicker when it finally gets going. It will prbably look really pretty and thick and maybe the litterers won't try to use this area anymore. Don't we all love edged sidewalks?
