As stated, there are already other purpose-built cars that have very similar seat arrangements in other countries. The US is really falling behind here on self-driving vehicles and drones. Also, the entire concept of those back facing seats might work great for some people, but there are many people that have a hard time sitting in back-facing seats on a train which is many fold smoother than the smoothest car ride and they feel like puking 10 minutes in. Not sure if it's just a great design choice honestly. At least in the train you can find a seat that facing the front more easily. It is overkill. All a robotaxi needs is the ability to see better than humans. extra cameras will work just fine without expensive Lidar and Radar. In two months, Tesla will release its example. The bi-directional feature is silly.

Maybe that was her filming this segment.
I've got some questions.. But first, I know we have to advance as a species and we can't do that if we don't try out ideas. But then, creating a car like this with the tech needed to keep it functional, both on it and for diagnostics and maintenance, isn't that more expensive than having someone in the car doing the driving? Maybe this time with little input just as a taxi or bus, at least over the lifespan of the vehicle. Cause I feel with the tech and amount of support it would need in terms of maintenance and stuffs, it would be cheaper to have someone run this over the lifespan of the car, bus, taxi thing.
oh cool. I think it stopped because you waved at it. When it was arriving to its designated spot you moved your arm and it slowed before continuing. There could be a cordoned off vertical space and your arm intruded in it. Just initial thought.
No they won't. The capacity is too low in relation to the upkeep. You'd need 30-100 of these (depending on how willing people are to ride-share) to match the capacity of a single commuter bus. ONE bus. Imagine how much more that'll cost in maintience alone. And imagine the congestion in rush hour. If you intend to replace the buses of a large city with these you're talking about an influx of fifty or hundreds of thousands of vehicles into already congested cities. At best these will be an alternative to Uber... in safe, gated upper middle-class neighborhoods where there's no risk of someone just placing an obstacle in the road to force the 'driver' to stop, then treating the pod like a Kinder egg filled with isolated easily robbable passengers.

Great work and display of autonomious technology .... 🎉
this is brilliant, can't wait to commute with this kind of things
Technology is phenomenal. I would be nervous. My very first time letting the automobile control all the situations. I’m sure it does work though. It would be kind of interesting to see. Very interesting.
A moment of silence for uber drivers
Finally freed.
and Tesla self driving
@@martymarl4602nah tesla robo taxi event August 8th
😂😂😂
An uber driver can use a 10 grand car, this company spends many times more for each of these cars.
Exactly what I envisioned a couple years ago. Mine would automatically return to a charging station when the battery was low and I expect this one will not that too. Seems like it would be easy enough to build a handicap version or make part of this one handicap accessible.
It's not a car! It's a modern day horseless carriage dah!
Or a tiny small bus
here in Florida, you can turn right on red as well. traffic permitting that is. looks like Uber will get a few i'd imagine.
You need to try the world first flying taxi at shenzhen china. Cause robot taxi is already common in china.
China has been using such taxi and I have seen it on video yet she is claiming this one to be the world-first robotaxi. Jeez!
@@youme1414she did clarify after that it's the first purpose built robotaxi.
Yeah but when you look at China, all the Tech and fashion, it all looks like 'American Instagram aesthetics' 😂
even their kids dress like American Instagrammers 😂 Many of them came to American tech schools, they saw the materials in American iPhones and started making all their new architecture and technology look the same. 😂
@@DefensisIndusthey come to America to learn English and not tech, stop lying. That is why most of your tech gadgets including the phone you’re typing from is produced in china
@@ahmad305 The first purpose built bus, van or robotaxi whatever you call it were definitely in China, probably in Guangzhou. The videos are still on youtube. Just type "driverless bus guangzhou" in "search" youtube. They look exactly like the current one she is showing. Apolong by Baidu. Some as old as two to three years old.
Quite cool, indeed. Absolutely brilliant. I wanna take a ride in one!
My son lives in Vegas so I'm going to hit him up and see if he's seen these or ridin in one yet.
The shapes on the tires look so cool!😍
When they spin, the effects look so mesmerising! I can't wait till they put colors
We had driverless cars here in Austin, Texas, for a while a few years back. Where you can order a ride like Uber or Lyft. One price at $5 for a 5 mile range. Mainly in the downtown area. I've ordered rides for 6 mouths or so and they got me where I needed to go safely.
But, they seem to have disappeared without warning. I assume that they weren't successful or maybe they moved to another city... ¿ 😢
By the way, this is truly an awesome video that brings back memories. 💯 🌟 's
Thank you
Not World's First Tho! Good Video ...
Waymo by Google is world 1st 🇺🇸
Please take a look at the U-Shift vehicle from German Aerospace. Also fully built and autonomous. Another USP is that it is modular. You can attach your own capsule to it.
The one thing I see happening is people thinking they are all alone while the microphone is on without their knowledge! The laws will be slow catching up to this technology!
Won’t be able to talk about secret stuff in this vehicle even though the smartphone is still listening
Your phone is always listening as well btw
"You don't have to deal with an angry driver." Except for the angry driver of the oncoming car when the Zoox pulled straight out into his lane and then just sat there.
Have they figured out what to do when you get stuck with a drunk that hurls all over the place? not interested in that situation at all lol and it happens
It has a pull over button I think I saw on the screen
Taxi companies needs to lower the price so people won’t use expensive robot taxis
Yep, I live in Vegas and those Toyotas are an obiquitous sight here for the past several years with all the gadgets surrounding the vehicle....you'd see one of 'em every five minutes anywhere in the valley. I finally saw the end product (Robotaxi) a couple months ago around that area where Supercar Blondie was cruising....turning right from Sunset heading into Rainbow towards Russell. Maybe that was her filming this segment.
Betting on IPL matches with 4ra is top-notch with Finch involved, feels professional
Can't wait to ride on one of these! Incredible technology!
America should have is slow very slow than China China already have self drive taxi on road
Actually robotaxi’s aren’t in china they will be in three years

oh cool. I think it stopped because you waved at it. When it was arriving to its designated spot you moved your arm and it slowed before continuing. There could be a cordoned off vertical space and your arm intruded in it. Just initial thought.
This will replace public transportation city buses. There won't be bus stops or riding with sketchy passengers.
@@havcola6983 No. Negative.
@@havcola6983all you need is shuttles like this with a seating capacity of 10
If the city needs more than that they can build a metro system
Replacing busss? The cost of maintenance of 1 bus compared cost 20 of these doesn't make sense.
@@Unknown-f5d6d It makes perfect sense. Go ride a city bus, there are 5 people and 40 seats. It's always like that and unoptimized like it's 1955. Time to set aside foolish ways.
One small step for a rider, one giant leap for driverless car 🇺🇸
This is actually in China first before the rest of the world starting doing it.
Rubbish, they started operating in 2023 and there are other ones that have been operating since 2017. Look at the Robotaxi wiki.

The Chinese don't need to copy this tech- they're developing their own.

When it comes to autonomous they are way ahead of any country
No need, robotaxi already running in China. This thing here is probably running on Chinese tech anyway
Its the only concept that actually is not fake and phony
Not sure that will last long. That shit will get stolen vandalized etc. Like what happened to that autonomous food delivery robot... Fix other things first to get the culture to respect general society. Fix access to higher education, laws, etc. Probably not in my lifetime.
