    The flow state. The process. It’s the journey, not the destination. Your Boulevard. My 5 motorcycles. Selling my last Harley-Davidson at age 75 seven months ago ended a lifetime journey on 2 wheels. But each ending needs a new beginning. And so drones and other passions lead me on in the flowing river of life, never to dry up or be choked in a stagnant pond. Keep riding my friend and keep painting an ever-expanding picture.

    Thands for the examples on design. Re color your eye and brain will automatically be attracted to any brighter color relative to the intended subject. Example. A yellow window frame next to a subway track is a distraction when your video motion is following the tracks

    Again, another great video. Just thought I'd add my 2 cents about the pigeons. I picked this nugget from another drone YTuber, so I can't (and don't want to) claim it - but I had problems with seagulls in Spain - like you, I don't harass them at all, but especially in springtime, they become very aggressive - also eagles in the Dolomites in Italy. The trick is red high reflective tape ( something you might put on a bicycle) - thin strips stuck on top, bottom, left, right and v thin strips on prop arms. It completely solved the problem - the gulls still squawk a bit but keep their distance.
    PS do you need special permission to fly over & around NY? I always worry in urban spaces.

      Yes sir, I've been trying to upload stuff to youtube during downtime and I love watching your channel for all the latest drone tips for real bro! So yeah been playing around with the Mini 3 Pro, got part 107 certified, yada yada. Just back from a shoot over some of the waterways here in FL and almost lost the drone trying to land on a sketchy old floating dock. Got to learn to catch this thing out of the air. You got a video for that? @@TedNemeth

    Absolutely brilliant video, love it! I’ll be crossing the pond from Europe to NY for holiday and plan to bring my mini3 pro. Am I allowed to fly as a tourist in NYC the way you did? I’d love to!

    Like the color grading. Wonder how a grunge texture in areas would look.

    Great video! re: which color grade... depends on the project, right? Stand alone? I really liked both! I could see using the B-W in one project and the color version in a completely different project.

    You’ve been a mentor to me. You convinced me to work on my creative instincts of recording the footage, rather than FIRST purchasing all the ND filters and becoming great at color grading like many of the drone nerds on UA-cam have suggested.

    I like to approach the scenes I shoot in with minimal expectations. Sure, I'll come in with an idea of what I would like, but I'm not married to that outcome. If everything aligns to make that vision happen, great. More often than not an element I have no control over means I'm not going to be able to get what I envisioned. So then I leave it to my years of experience shooting on the ground to find some other way to find something else to make it interesting. I like to think of it as creative problem solving to work within the limitations the situation. Sometimes it's even better than what was expected and sometimes it's just a practice run for the next time. A good example was shortly after I got the drone, I had a trip to Las Vegas and I went through the whole process to get proper permission to fly near the High Roller ferris wheel. Only I realized too late that I didn't ask for enough height clearance. So I'm shooting a cloudless sunset and only enough height clearance to go as high as the middle of the wheel. My creative solution was to get further back and align the setting sun with the center of the wheel. The shot ended up as a finalist in drone photography contest and was selected to appear in the county fair. So a situation I didn't have a lot of hope for still yielded a portfolio photo. I'd love another crack at shooting there but haven't been back yet.

    Excellent perspective as always! Can't wait to see what you come up with around the abandoned mental institution! Looks like it might be a good spot for some FPV!

    Man - I've had an agressive hawk after me, clipped one of my propellers even - and in California in my area we have green parrots that get super agressive also. No pigeons yet!

    Great video as ever amigo. The colour image of the subway spoke more to me than the black & white. Gangster Pigeons are an issue here in London UK too. Is that building Kings Park Psychiatric center by any chance? I was Google Earthing places not long ago (really need to get out more) and saw that structure. I wanted to visit there when i lived in New York many years ago but was told it was patrolled by security as a no go area. Wish id gone with my gut now and snuck in.

I was in NY for just under 2 years. Lived in Rego Park Queens…. Quite an experience 😊. I go back when I get time as I love the crazy place.

    Any tips on avoiding flying over people? I love hearing that you haven’t had any collisions with the birds! What about bugs? Trees? Any obstacles you have hit? Ever lay the drone down? Just crashed my drone the first time yesterday 😢 loving your videos! 👏

    • @TedNemeth
      @TedNemeth  4 місяці тому

      hey buddy. i have no words of wisdom to avoid bird strikes. Some have said reflective red tape helps. I try to avoid birds. When the NYC pigeons see my drone and come over and start circling it…..i just keep the drone stationary until they are far enough away then I go straight down to get away.
