So some of y’all pointed out that Johnny Test was an American cartoon that was only animated in Canada. I didn’t really research much for this video but rather just based everything off of my memories as a kid, so my bad. Anyways, just pretend that fact isn’t true and act like I’m right. Growing up I saw the show as more Canadian than American anyways. Canadians, sorry I’m handing y’all an unnecessary L. Unless you liked Johnny Test. Then take the W I guess.

I would highly recommend re-watching 6-teen. As I kid I always hated when this show would come on, I found it so boring. But I ended up giving it another chance, and it is so much better watched through the eyes of an adult. The dynamic between the characters is phenomenal, and the humor and retail environment is much more relatable. The first 2 seasons are fantastic, but everything beyond that can be hit or miss imo.
The reason why there is so many cheap and low effort cartoons from Canada is because Canadian law requires TV channels to air a certain amount of Canadian made Content
They passed a bill with this with Internet streaming services. As a Canadian, I have no idea what Trudeau was thinking with this considering other than stuff like Trailer Park Boys and Total Drama, we don’t create anything that is really worth watching.
Im happy I’m not the only one who loved the Looney Tunes Show. Also I have nostalgia for when Cartoon Network would air classic looney tunes shorts and Tom & Jerry on sick days.

as a Canadian I remember scrolling through teletoon and ytv at my grandparents for like 20 minutes at a time, several times a day and I literally never found anything entertaining, I did this multiple times several months apart when we visited and it was literally the same shows everytime. It's literally a slop™ channel
I had a buddy who's mom was just frankly not a good parent. Any time I was home sick I'd try to drag myself out the door to go play cod4 on wii with him. My dad just said it I get sicker that's on me lol. But he was always home watching Johnny Test, I'd show up and we'd play cod4 on wii taking turns until we were sweaty and exhausted.
My strong-ass immune system stopped me from having too many school sick days unfortunately 😞I do have BIG nostalgia for Saturday/Sunday morning cartoons however...
I had a terrible flu when I was in 2nd grade. Couldn't go outside, run around nothing. I was couch bound. Thankfully stuff like george of the jungle, arthur, jonny test, clone wars and totally spies were at their peak. Wiah I can relive those days again.
I can count on one hand how many times I've missed school due to feeling sick. That's including kindergarten, elementary, middle, and high. It's twice. Both times I didn't even feel sick, well I didn't feel good, but it wasn't high Temps or fever or anything like that. Just my stomach acting up. Last time I've actually had a temp above 100°f was about 8 years ago on a Sunday morning. I remember because that was the only day I missed church the entire time I was forced to go. It's literally such a pleasant memory that I remember my mom calling my grandma saying I'm not going that day while I was watching stampylongnose. After watching him for like 2 hours it was venturiantale and popularmmos for the rest of the day that I was on youtube.
I'm glad it wasn't just me who hated being sick on a school day thanks to this very issue. You have no idea how badly I would've killed someone to get the computer password and play something on there instead but no... Johnny and Dukey :( Yay
Bro my mom straight up made me go to school sick every single time I got sick it was the worst. I missed three days of high school in four years, all in a row when I had mono and she made me go to school before i felt better. Spanish teacher straight up kicked me out and made me go home during first period, she was the GOAT.
Ahhh yes, sick days. In elementary school I rarely missed a day, most I've missed in elementary school was 5 days (consecutively, I was sicker than sick, food poisoning) but once I hit 7th grade, I got diagnosed with Crohn's disease, and I stayed home for literally half the year, and for the following year because of it. When I first got sick, my mom thought I was just lazy/trying to get out of school. I had been bullied before so she first assumed it was that. I explained to her that I was not being bullied, but genuinely sick. She took it well, my dad did not. He's very old fashioned, and when he was a kid, TV wasn't always on/airing something/as many channels, so when I would watch TV (I sometimes was so sick I couldn't even play games) he always said "sick kids don't watch TV, if you can watch TV you can go to school" but that wasn't even the weird part, sometimes he expect me to help him do something (rake leaves, shovel snow, etc) because I was home and if I didn't want to help him, then i should be fit to go to school. Sometimes I would (at least try) to eat something, and the response from either mom or dad was something like: "if you can eat you can go to school" because eating a bowl of cheezits means im healthy apparently.
I very rarely took any sick days as a child, but I'm surprised you didn't mention how much they used to spam tom and jerry during these times as well lol.
Nobody remembers Boomerang. It had all the weird old Hannah Barbara cartoons, and some newer ones like OG Teen Titans and SWAT Kats which would come on after dark and traumatize me before bed. Then it got pulled from Direct TV which my child brain couldn't understand.
I didn't even remember "my gym partner is a monkey" at all until you brought it back. And for some reason vague flashes "Wayside" if you remember that one
I remember there was (maybe still is? idk) a channel here in the UK (or just Scotland, idk I haven't asked anyone from England about TV channels before) called Pop that I'm pretty sure mostly played Canadian shows? idk I just watched it because they played My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop and I was obsessed with those at the time
Canada gave us Rush, and they gave us one of the best anime dubs of all time, Black Lagoon...starring one of the Test sisters, Light Yagami, Vegeta, and Nick Fury.
I love your use of screenshots from Johnny Test's first season, the only american season and the only one with thick outlines I've seen like 67 Episodes on Boomerang but like... that's normal???

As a Canadian what do we do with it was it created there?
Canadian here. one in the industry actually. so Canada can produce good shows but in the early to mid 2000s we were going through a bit of an identity crisis . a lot of the industry here job wise comes from Canada being hired by other countries to do animation cuz it gives tax breaks to both the company that takes us on and the Canadian studio itself.
normally this means a good balance of studios being able to fund their own passion projects and steady work from else where . however in the 2000s -2010s Canada introduced some of its first big budget independent project funds for people who wanted to pitch shows .that's actually what birthed Total Drama and 16teen which both shows ended up having their own studios be created as result of that. suddenly we had a lot of people pitching shows that ytv /teletoon / and a few other Canadian networks would pick up for full seasons after seeing the pilots. Canada has always loved whacky humour so alot of these were shows that either contained an educational subject (grossology for example ) or were slapstick filler shows that served the purpose of helping the studio behind prep for better shows.
we are now at a point in the industry where we have enough studios and seasoned writers to create good shows but are stuck in a position where we are so intertwined with being a third party for companies outside of the country that a lot of studios cant hire people right now due to the stuff going on in the usa .
there is some improvement with more opportunities opening up for studios here who have passion projects now so i do think we'll be back on track soon .
if you'd like some ideas of decent shows that arent in preschool (lotta preschool work here )
id suggest
cyberchase (this is still making new episodes i have no idea of its current quality but its aimed younger. like 7-12 )
ruby gloom
adventures of sam and max, freelance police (co written and animated here )
Class of The Titians ( its been a while since i watched this action show )
cybersix (more teen/adult aimed and inspired by a comic , if you like super heroes with a twist it could be a good one )
Delilah & Julius (a spy series that from what i recall was very well liked )
if you want the bizarre that im not sure how it ever got greenlit and didnt age well with graphics
erky perky
cant remember much on freaky stories but people like it
we also are producing Hilda off of Netflix
Dogs In Space (comedy , not atomics best work i think they were mandated to make puns )
its hard to get into but if you want a story of an interesting candaian show that could have been great and ended up decent, look into the history of jimmy two shoes theres docs here on youtube
great premise mixed result : Spliced (very whacky with hit or miss humour )
i could probably go on but ultimately its worth noting that unlike the usa we dont have as diverse an experience with the age range of shoes . its typically preschool , elementary ,teen and "general " audience . theres only 2 adult animated series i can even think of that ever were classed as actually adult animated series exclusively produced entirely by canada .
coroner gas the series (i suggest the orginal live action tbh )

I’m posting this on my IG stories haha
johnny test for the most part was written & storyboarded in America. i'd say canada really isn't to blame with the show's quality.
Bro my mom straight up made me go to school sick every single time I got sick it was the worst. I missed three days of high school in four years, all in a row when I had mono and she made me go to school before i felt better. Spanish teacher straight up kicked me out and made me go home during first period, she was the GOAT.
Oooooooh Secret Saturdays! I miss that show. And it's very underrated imo. It doesn't get talked enough.
Overrated*
bruh as a canadian the ytv and teletoon slop was literally nostalgic to me lol
Johnny test was fire wtf are you on 😂
My favorite Canadian show ruby gloom
Such a great idea for a video, great work man! I see a future UA-cam star!
You’re very funny, you got a subscriber
0:05 In my childhood, the only TV we had was the Big Three and PBS, cartoons back them were only on specific times and home video just started.
This makes me feel old.
i’ve watched johnny test about 5 times it’s by far my favorite kids show
the way that you saying "cartoon network baby" sounded so much like mordicai
Every time you select a song for a bit you do it perfectly
And I gotta hold my breath every time because idk if it’s gonna effect the visibility of the video or not
I still have PTSD from the constant whiplash sound effect
Bro TDI, 6Teen, and Johnny test were all my favorites lol
I very rarely took any sick days as a child, but I'm surprised you didn't mention how much they used to spam tom and jerry during these times as well lol.
Nobody remembers Boomerang. It had all the weird old Hannah Barbara cartoons, and some newer ones like OG Teen Titans and SWAT Kats which would come on after dark and traumatize me before bed. Then it got pulled from Direct TV which my child brain couldn't understand.
Great show! Loved the reoccurring joke F------- 😂
This ninjago and Garfield were playing hella on my sick days
I didn't even remember "my gym partner is a monkey" at all until you brought it back. And for some reason vague flashes "Wayside" if you remember that one
Subbed for the Macintosh Plus at the end of your videos.
"Why couldn't he be more child friendly?" really fucking got me.
Kick buttowski
Disney XD classic
GOATED
Watching this while being sick 👍
I remember there was (maybe still is? idk) a channel here in the UK (or just Scotland, idk I haven't asked anyone from England about TV channels before) called Pop that I'm pretty sure mostly played Canadian shows? idk I just watched it because they played My Little Pony and Littlest Pet Shop and I was obsessed with those at the time
Literally my childhood 😢
Cartoon Network in the early 2010s was straight up fire!!
TOTAL DRAMA 6TEEN AND GROJBAND MENTIONED????? this is so amazing
Canada gave us Rush, and they gave us one of the best anime dubs of all time, Black Lagoon...starring one of the Test sisters, Light Yagami, Vegeta, and Nick Fury.
I love your use of screenshots from Johnny Test's first season, the only american season and the only one with thick outlines
I've seen like 67 Episodes on Boomerang but like... that's normal???
6teen was made by the same people as the total drama franchise.
I thought that that was the introduction to a longer video, and then it actually ended already
NGL sidekick be kinda goated
12 oz mouse is the greatest show ever made, you watch your mouth
Oh my god, I loved the cricket in Times Square!
if I had strep throat my parents wouldn’t think that’s enough to stay home
Bro good job on this video! 🎉
IM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO REMEMBERS SIDEKICK!!!
The twin sister wearing socks with sandals grossed me out as a kid.
new sub from Canada
Old Cartoon Network was straight bangers
That fucking whiplash in Johnny Test.
