What i loved most was that most stuff you can take and use for all your subjects and the tips really helped me. Thank you so much, I cant wait to carry on with your tips next year aswell!!

so grateful for this video, the character ao revision method really caught my attention, def gonna try it out!! just started year 12 and got a 9 at gcse but was worrying for a level lol. thanks so much!!
hiya, ive got my alevel re sits next month. i havent revised at all for a level edexcel English lit and i havent done an coursework. do you think i can do it?
Yes! Of course you can! The coursework will put you at a disadvantage but… its only worth 20%, so you still have 80% you can work for! -For drama: read the plays. I study streetcar and othello, these should take you around 3-4 hours. Summarise the top quotes for each character / theme and annotate the language! Remember! You need to revise A05 critics for Othello as 14 marks is awarded for this. -For prose: Don’t bother reading the whole books, just the important chapters! Again summarise key quotes, fully annotate them! -Poetry: These are very quick to re read (I find romantic poetry the hardest) so just try to get marks for A01 and A02. Try to read the CONTEXT for each of these plays / books / poems! Essay writing tips: •What, how, why. Follow this structure for a top grade and practice writing as many essays as possible. You still have time, don’t panic! I’ll show an example of the what how why structure below (this has been done at the top of my head but you get the idea) WHAT: Shakespeare depicts jealousy as a destructive force in “Othello” that is used to ruin Othello’s and Desdemona’s relationship. HOW: One way in which Shakespeare demonstrates this is through the use of the semantic field of monsters. This is seen when Othello says: (Give example of the quote). The effective use of the… (analyse the effect of this!) Why: Shakespeare uses Othello’s tragic downfall perhaps to warn his audience of the problematic implications of jealousy if people fail to recognise their harmartias or if they quickly assume that their partners are disloyal without seeing any valid proof. Also try to weave in context that is SPECIFIC and RELEVANT to the point you are making. Here I will give another effective example of context: DON’T SAY: “During the 16th century, Jacobean people hated black people.” This is wayyyy too general and will get you a D grade. You must be specific. DO SAY: “A Jacobean audience would had been familiar with the draft proclamation on the explosion of “Negroes and Blackamoors” in 1601, which fuelled most Jacobeans with a growing dislike for people with coloured skin.” And add in some A05! This is further exaggerated by Looba’s essay on Race and Society in Othello, who claimed that black people were “godless, bestial and sinful.” I hope this helps, and good luck! I also have my real exams next month :)
