WAR, the original street band, was founded by veteran record producer Jerry Goldstein and rock legend Eric Burdon in 1969. Together with the original band members Lonnie Jordan, Howard Scott, Lee Oskar, B.B. Dickerson, Harold Brown, the late Thomas “Papa Dee” Allen, and Charles Miller, they blended many musical styles and influences. The musical laboratory that is WAR yielded 17 gold, platinum and multi-platinum awards, including the triple platinum ‘The World Is A Ghetto’ and double platinum ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends?’ and ‘Greatest Hits’, and hit songs "Why Can't We Be Friends?", "Low Rider", "Spill the Wine", and "The Cisco Kid".
WAR began playing live shows to sold-out audiences in the 1970s and continues their commitment to being road WARriors, touring over 150 dates a year to this day.
The greatest funk jazz band ever and I have seen thousands as rn a club and am a funk DJ so opened for a lot of big soul and funk bands......saw them in New York 1981 after years of collecting their records since Me and Baby Brother came out in 1973 ........I was 13 and it hooked me to the funk.
I first saw War in concert at age 14, my kitty is named Sisko, the Star Trek way to spell it, for this song and my son has his older brother, Tuvok, another Star Trek character. We love War and I still have their debut album with Eric Burdon.

I beg to differ. Hall of Fame is for the ELITE! They don't even come close. Do you understand music? Truly? What skill is? They're playing very simple easily played music. He has a mediocre voice. No reason for Hall Of Fame. Education on music. I am in a recording studio now. I know what's poppin and what's Hall of Fame quality. They DON'T COME CLOSE! Sorry to completely disagree
