    1. Rising
    2. Pronation
    3. Cupping
    4. Supination

      @YFun-ux5rs Рік тому +25

      I actually genuinely don’t understand the need for supination training. Even in a hook, you want to prevent being over supinated so training cup to prevent being opened up by top rollers and pronation to roll in the end.

    • @falco2296
      @falco2296 Рік тому +11

      @@YFun-ux5rs Well Devon explained u want supination for going inside ur body. And to get position for press. But I only do the top 3 exercises. Because they are very important. Rising Cupping Rolling. And tbh I dont know much about supination but those 3 strenghts are most important. To get ur opponents hand to ur side from the center

    • @YFun-ux5rs
      @YFun-ux5rs Рік тому +5

      @@falco2296 yeah I get that but rarely do you want your hand to be supinated. To get your hand close to your body, it is probably better to train cup and back pressure to drag your opponent to your side. Even for a press, it seems that being over the hand of an opponent is more effective and allows the possibility of rolling out rather than being fully supinated.

    • @falco2296
      @falco2296 Рік тому +1

      @@YFun-ux5rs I dont fully know what supination is other then taking the arm to ur side. But the other 3 are most important.

      @@YFun-ux5rs when you suppinate it puts your bicep in and advantageous position to get more pulling strength. otherwise you're relying more on your brachialis. you also can get closer to your body which loads the tricep more so you can generate more force as they are in their longest start position

    Devon, I am a huge fan. Everything that you talk about is very true and has supporting evidence in physics. I am sure that there is more than what You experimented with by trial and error. If I were You I would ask an experienced and passionate physicist on how to further improve the technique. Reason: I see leverage as the principle of arm wrestling. Improving your leverage is key to winning against a stronger opponent.

    Since i was in high school ive been strangely good at arm wrestling. I beat people easily who are much much stronger than me. I can not bench press for shit (long arms) but i can throw things a really long ways. Ive always guessed its partially natural tendon strength and then part bc of growing up playing baseball? Pitching mainly.. idk im just guessing but then also, these things he is talking about always just came really natural to me when it seems to not come to others at all. Just never have had an explanation for it. Im just over 6 feet and weighed about 185 when i arm wrestled my old buddies step brother who was in his early 30s, i was 19. He was 6'4 ish and just a enormous man, like 350 and not all that flabby but we were middle table both pulling hard (he had zero technique, just big and strong) i def wanted the win worse so i dug deep and gave it all i had and SNAP!!!! His arm broke about 2 or 3" from his elbow. Happened so fast i slammed his arm to the table while half of his arm went forward. Took a sec before i knew whos arm broke i just knew it was one or the other. He was so freaked out he started almost fainting and it was a mf'er getting his big ass loaded up in a jeep so we could take him to the hospital. I really dont know what all it messed up but he had more than one surgery i know that for sure. Last time i seen him which was over a decade ago his arm still wasnt right. Ok im just story telling now but my point was to ask bc ive never heard it discussed, how about ppl who are just naturally good at it? Does that advantage stay with you or do u kinda lose it once u are wrestling guys who are all that way to a degree? Ive often wondered if i really had somehing i should have went after or if it really wasnt all that special and just looked that way bc the other ppl just kinda sucked? Im 37 now so probably too late in life to chase that dream, or is it?
