as a former worship drummer, former worship leader / jack of all trades in a worship band, and just fan of all music, Alex has this series down. Almost makes me think he's played in a few worship bands himself...
All jokes aside, that classic “worship sound” is always so uplifting. The ambient guitars, the big drums, the powerful vocals, it all comes together for this BIG sound that I try to implement into my own song writing. I love it.
I'd love to hear you turn this theme around and play worship songs in the styles of other bands. Give me O Come To The Altar in the style of Paramore or something.
Man this is so good! The barely audible acoustic, the stock standard drum loop, the ambient guitar, the Ableton tracks doing half the work, the extra bar into the second chorus and the 20 million bridges of the same thing. Brings a tear to the eye. Also, I don't know who the female vocalist is but definitely a welcome addition to the Alex Melton band! She smashed it.
As a worship director and being the weirdo at church who loves punk and hardcore. These videos always make me happy but this one in particular is so incredibly accurate with the meeting beforehand and just the rendition of the song. Makes me feel like I’m not alone especially in church world.
Nah, not even. I came out of the club and hard rock scene into a megachurch stage in 2003. This video nailed it. I also was possibly the ONLY pdub musician I've ever encountered who played a Floyd Rose bridge. I weathered through all the snooty trend-seekers, and just recently I saw a Floyd Rose guitar (a Hamer) being used for the song Lion by Elevation. Rock isn't dead yet. :)

Sorry for your loss. I am glad you acknowledge God, but I caution you going forward with the “big man upstairs” mentality. God is not a just our friend hanging out upstairs. I don’t say this to turn you away from him, but to turn you toward him in a more reverent way. He loves you and is always there for you in your time of loss. God bless!
I have played in a lot of worship bands in a lot of churches, and this hits so close to home in so many ways. I know this is all done in good fun and it was absolutely hilarious; but more impressively incredibly well done and produced. The song itself was extremely impressive, and capped off by a perfect impression of probably 95% of Protestant church endings right now (other than maybe a reference to a football game). When I was a kid I had a bad experience with church. I was surrounded by people who 'felt' Gods presence, who knew God and had a relationship with him. I was maybe 10 years old when during a service I asked God to come in to my life, to speak to me, to make himself known to me but I felt or sensed nothing. I was always told that God knows your heart and feelings so in that moment, knowing how desperate I was for God's connection.. to feel nothing was to me, rejection from God. I cried my eyes out because I thought I must be so bad God doesn't want me. I'm 40 years old now and am once again trying to build a relationship with God. I do believe that he has always had his hand on my life, he never let me stray too far from the path and I'm pleased to say I've learnt to recognise Him. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

Your testimony really touched me. Feelings are great, and can add to the worship experience, But can lead to experiences such as yours, where the necessary conclusion is, if I don’t feel it, it must not be there/real. Over emphasizing feelings caused your church to be a millstone for your own spiritual awakening/growth. I’m glad that God kept touching your life and that you kept seeking out God. As a worship pastor, this is freaking hilarious. Well done!
I'm so much addicted to this song, the melody of the song, your wife's harmony... Wao... Thank you.
How come I just discovered you? Good Lord, this is just so spot on! I've been pretty much everyone in these skits (and still am), and I just about lost it with your benediction, lol. Absolute perfection.
been looking forward for this worship versions of your covers
Despite the sarcastic nature of the video, I really love the cover! Gave me goosebumps.
Bro this video is genius! So well done and thought out!
Loved all the product placement! Especially the hoodie for The Starting Line!

Thank you Alex, i think you dont know how much this song means to me and you delivered it in such a beautiful way, even though it was meant to be a "Joke" i really shed a Tear there. xoxo

Also LOL "Ableton sounds great today."
Ableton sounds great today. Spot on!
Absolutely killing it lately
Thank you, Pastor Melton
we need more of these asap
I grew up playing in a worship band, from the skit at the beginning to the music, i love this. Thanks again for the content.
After being one of my favorite songs for 25 years I finally know why this song works. Thank you! 🙏 😂
This is amazing!! Everything about it!!
The bridge interlude buildup is so classic! It follows the worship playbook perfectly. The only thing missing was a key change to the final chorus!
