Bro as a worship leader, this is genius. Captured every trope in the genre, down to the “sing it again” callouts 😂 most videos like this make worship music out to be terrible and hokey sounding, this captured the anthemic feel and production level of a lot of the modern bands while also poking fun in the right places. There’s a lot of great songwriting there from a musical perspective, whether it’s your cup of tea or not. As far as hokey, we’ll that depends on whether or not you believe the message. I find most songs about getting high and sleeping around hokey, but that’s cuz that’s not how I live. Also, anytime something becomes commercially successful, the genre will be full of crap.

I usually don’t comment but you’ve struck a chord lol. I love this connection. I listen to both genres, so I like this take on Hero/Heroine. I’m not taking it at a joke either. I often hear God across genres whether Christian or secular music. And this is a good example of trying to hear similarities across genres. And there are even lyrics in the song that I hadn’t previously seen as faith related (though clearly not intended). So that’s really cool. I remember there being a lot of Christian alt/metal bands at warp tour or popular in the 2000-2010s. Either their music was outright religious, or it was somewhere in the middle with their lyrics having connections to the faith, or they just were very vocal in interviews about their faith. But I think there was some sort of shift though. I’m not sure what happened. There just seems to be fewer Christian bands with that raw emo sound. But there are plenty of them with that post rock sound (like the emotional build and ambience in math rock). Or they even take on an indie sound. Like I just found this one band, Gable Price and Friends. Their song “Heretic” is a good example of that trendy indie sound. Anyways. I digress. I’m curious, especially with your baptist background, would you consider turning a popular Christian song into an emo bop? Like “if elevation worship’s X song was an emo bop.” I’d love to see that. I think it could even be nostalgic.

The message that one version of god is the only path to feeling joy or being good. At least in the US where Christianity dominates the spiritual realm so arrogantly as if there aren’t 5 billion people who somehow find themselves capable of compassion and kindness without it - or believing in entirely different versions of god. An entire genre of music (the only genre of music) classified by its lyrical content and not by its structure - a structure that conjures positive human emotion regardless of the lyrical content (as this song proves) - these uplifting emotions are the product of the phenomenon of music reaching us on a spiritual level.

You are absolutely my favorite. I am a huge Blink fan. I went to my first Blink 182 concert with my pregnant wife and my best friend in OCT 2001 (it was postponed because of 9/11), in Anaheim, CA. My first son was born on Nov 2, 2001. We have been married 23 (almost 24) years, and he is now 20 years old and a musician. Unfortunately my best friend passed in February of 2020 but, I live every day for him.
Thank you for what you do, you are ABSOLUTELY the BEST! I hope to see you in concert some day. You have absolutely put the work in and need to be on the BIG STAGE as a headliner. I can't wait for that day! I can't say enough about what your music does for us fans, without making this a novel so, I'll end with this: Keep it up, your fans love you, your wife is awesome at vocals (can't wait to hear more collaborations), and you make thousands of people happy on a daily basis. Great Job my fiend! Love you, have a deep respect for your work ethic and ability, and will always believe you need to be among the greats! Wouldn't mind some tickets any time you're near MD...just sayin' but, love, respect, and gratitude regardless. You've earned it brother!
