They introduced an interface mode that you can find in Universal control for the series iii mixers. Joe glider mentioned it when it came out and it allows you to bypass the flexmixes and uses the mixer as a 1 to 1 audio interface so you could use it for outboard gear and so on. Its a pretty cool feature that I don't think anyone has covered so that might be something you may want to go over in your review. My live sound company has 3 of the Presonus studiolive mixers and they have been workhorses. Outside of a few limitation they are a great bang for buck tool in the studio and especially if you play live!

Lookin foward to the videos . I have the same mixer . I use it as a DAW controller but also lookin foward to recording Drums since i'm a drummer . plus i also invested in the NSB 16.8 stagebox.
Would love to see how viable you feel this would be as a studio centerpiece and using it as the main computer interface, as compared to other dedicated interfaces you've used.
I am looking forward to this. I have been sitting on one of the 32S consoles for over a year waiting for the cash to get a computer that can push it. To be able to see how I can use this with 3rd party software, BX, sound toys etc. will be very helpful.
Thank you Dave, this series is long overdue, super looking forward to it. It would be awesome for you to cover using it in DAW mode in studio one and going from beat making controller to mixing on the studio live using the on board fat channel and the lives processing . I am also looking forward to seeing you use some of your outbound gear by bypassing the flex mixes and not using pipeline. Thank you again.
I can't wait to see these videos. I am in no position to record live drums or own a mixer like this but being a drummer, I am always curious on how different engineers record them.
Been waiting for more content on Studiolive Series III mixers. I have a few of your courses. You’ve always done in depth stuff, so I’m looking forward to this series of videos. I’ve been studying up on all video content as well as the manual, but the routing and patching can get complex. We also got the 32/16 stagebox for our studio setup. Maybe Sweetwater can loan you one for the network routing setup. Anyway, can’t wait for more help with understanding this beast. Mixing with it is limited though, since it can’t handle a large StudioOne file with many plugins. Buffers only to the 2000 (approx.) buffer and not the 4000 that their Thunderbolt interfaces can get to. I do our mixing with those. For recording and live shows it’s great, though. To bad they never came out with a Thunderbolt version.
Only complaint about that board is that you can’t overdub with the SD card, which is really odd given the other, cheaper, controller style mixers (Tascam/Zoom, etc) have that capability. There are other work-around to accomplish the same goal, but someone dropped the ball on that. Will be interesting to hear the comparison between the SSL pre’s and the Studiolive III pre’s. *Better yet, how will those drums sound recorded through the SLIII, controlling a boutique SSL plugin, compared to the SSL pre’s. THAT would be a Eureka moment worth it’s wait in gold, depending how close you can get them.*
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy You're a master at it. Been watching you from Day 1 with your old Studiolive mixer. I've based more than one purchase off your vid's, and have no regretted it once. However far down it goes, it will help a LOT of people, Dave. 👍
StudioLive are the best for Studio One. I aim using the 24 and love it. I am looking forward to this series, Uncle Dave. Thanks for doing this! Note: The 24 is the same size as the 32SX. And these babies are HEAVY.
Hi Uncle Dave ! I am thinking about getting the "StudioLive 64S" for my home Studio to "Mostly" use it in "DAW Mode", may be one day I could use it for a live situation. Most videos are about 4 years old, and Since then I've seen some videos talking about, it's not great in Daw Mode. My guess is now, once we are in 2024, I assume that "A lot of updates have happened", I hope. So, I love Studio One, and some faders and more Preamp and I also have some outboard gears. 1- So, Is it great to use it nowadays on DAW Mode? 2- If I do use a different audio interface, will I be able to use the StudioLive in DAW Mode (Daw Controller), if I am not using it as the audio Interface? 3- If I’m recording a live band, can I use Studio One to capture the band, will the build in plugins print the effects? Thank you.
Hi James - if you watched my series on the SL32Sx I said at least a few times NOT to buy this if your main purpose is for DAW control. Go with the fader Port for a lot less money. in DAW mode it's "clunky" at best. Go back and watch that video. No, you can use it in DAW mode and NOt use it an an interface. Again, all in my videos. :)
That's exactly the model I own. It would be great if you could do a comparison of the AD and DA converters vs other brands that you use. Using external gear, for example. Also, explain deeply the pipeline levels together with the ins and outs of S1 to get the optimum headroom and signal going in and out to the external gear. Thanks!!! ...love your vídeos!!!
Merry Xmas and happy new year to you Dave. I commend your passion, commitment and drive. You’ve made videos for virtually every solution out there. Thank you for your videos.

Could you use some of the gear you have and also some cheap guitar pedals to show how to connect them. Thanks so much. Great series so far.
Hi David or Uncle David or even the Great David (for the good work well done). I would ask you, could please invest some time on the Part 2 of the StudioLive 32SX review, depicting details on the connectivity between the Mixer Daw and the Computer. I believe there is some unclear tech aspects like the need to have the computer out of the Wifi. Otherwise they do not work properly ( according to the S1 DAW Control Addendum EN V3 pg 3 Getting Started whereby it says "UCNET does not support dual network connections"). I may be making some mistakes there but in my case it only worked after diseabling the wifi. Appreciate a lot. Best regards. Greetings from Brazil.
Certainly! I had a bunch of issues myself regarding this so I will cover this for sure. It took me a while to get it p and running but once I figured it out, it is quite easy.
My home studio is built around a 32S. I love the tight integration with Studio One as a DAW controller. Touch sensitive motorized faders are great for writing volume automation. I don't really use it for plugin control...Pretty sure the baked in plugins work well with it, but I'm not sure how well 3rd party plugins work. I also use it to send custom mixes for Livestreams as well. Super versatile piece of gear.
Awesome. Does it connect to outboard gear and the daw like your ssl? I own one.. terrible for any DAW outside of S1. Stick with the uf8/uc1 for multiple daws.
