Can I use this desk to plug 24 mic mono channels into directly and record 24 individual tracks at once using a DAW without the need for a $3k stage box (eg studiolive 32r or 24r). This would be cheaper option I am thinking to use a 24 input multi core patch bay instead since this desk acts as a multi input interface with mic preamps?

Hi thanks for the video, I need help please. I am using a 32sc console and followed all of your instructions but when I pressed the DAW button nothing happens. I'm running studio one 6 on a late 2012 imac. I have used a wifi booster as my router lives upstaris and my studio is downstairs and plugged into the LAN port on it to the 32sc via ethernet cable and run the USB from the 32sc into the computer as you suggested. The 32sc sees my computer when I press the UCNET button and it is selected from the list. (should my computers IP address match the Control network IP address?) Universal control works fine and I'm able to control the desk from my computer. When I openup a studio one session and press the DAW button nothing happens, all the scribble strips are blank and no faders move to match the opened session like it did in your video. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure what the I/O inputs and outputs should look like in studio one song setup but I just hit the default button to populate the grid.
I would contact Presonus for this. I have been told that wifi can be a issues with these boards but that may not be your issue. Go to the Presonus user fourms and see if someone there can help

Can this Presonus StudioLive console be used connected to a DAW using Studio One, Pro Tools, etc. to simultaneously mix multiple tracks at once as the song is playing (real-time) when mastering as normally done in studio? Or is it just basic live mixer with only the added feature of recording the separate tracks (which is still pretty cool)? From what I understand the older (‘classic’) StudioLive 16.4.2 etc. models (and most other similar consoles) cannot actually be used in combination with a DAW app for the real-time simultaneous multi-track mastering and can only perform the recording stage of the process. Hence in order gain the ability to do real-time multi-track recording (using faders for at least eight individual tracks) while mastering with a DAW app requires the addition of a Presonus FaderPort 8 or 16 (or similar device). Please correct me if I am wrong or confirm if I am right. Thanks.
So maybe I'm just dumb, but I cannot get my computer to appear in the UCNET screen. However, when I click 'permissions' it shows there... any thoughts?
With that much money for computer based hardware, I’d be really interested in knowing if it will maintain some usability after it becomes a legacy product.

Hiya Dave, Can you please help by doing a brief Introduction course, highlighting the pursuit of correct cabling, signal flow and connectivity for the gear we’re using, not so much the nature of out board gear, which you cover in other videos, but to know how to use various ways of introducing a fusion or bus compressor as an example to a signal chain to enhance a processing set up. If this is basic knowledge I dont want to always want to ask others, particulary this knowledge is SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE. Outside of this field no one has it and even withing the industry the availability of this specific information is shallow on the ground making it appear more confusing than it actually is or needs to newbies. Perhaps many others will benefit to have this point of reference in relation to Studio Live Series 3 Mixers, which will in turn encourage increased revenue as a direct result of confidence being raised. A BIT ABOUT ME: I’ve been a musician and guitarist for mostly all my life, and aspire toward a quite ambitious footprint for my home recording studio and have a Studio Live Series Three Mixing Console at the heart of my set up too. Its how I plan on rasing my game to take material I have been working on for years to the next level of production, so I’m not green as a musician but everything else, but my love of sound engineering at 17 yrs old should have led me to walk into the industry then, but I didnt have the education or money to get it then, but nearly 40 years later Whilst my lack of familiarity & experience screams at me daily. Dave, for all the video tutorials available on UA-cam, there is little to nothing that takes a serious look at and addresses the 'essential & specilaist piece of knowledge’ required to correctly choose cables (organise maintain cables, costs and methodds of connectivity for newbies would go a long way removiing a lot of the fog surrounding this important and almost invisible, but needful to know and accessible information. To Conclude I have viewed some pretty good stuff out there that do cover some things mentioned above, but seem to stop maybe only a few paragrahs short or a module short? I can only guess this could be at the risk of sounding to basic to their natural audience. Im hanging on every word, but even in paid for courses this information seems too insignificant to include it or to do so would take them too far out of the way? I can only guess, but I have seen you operate in a niche to represent the small guy with big dreams before, and think you’re under-rated myself, in the rgegular line up of professionals crurrently making training material accessible too. So if you were to make a 1 or two part video course i’m quite sure it’ll be ground breaking and making it available to a targeted audience of Newbies like me, no one else would needs to view it who thinks the material is too basic for them, right? What do you think? PS Sorry for the long blurb
Hi mate. Is there a way to use DAW mode but instead of fat channel on Studio One 6 use the Fat Channels on my 64S I paid £4000 for? Seems nuts reducing my investment to a DAW controller and then needing to spend £X000 on a PC to run DAW Fat Channels when my 64S is sitting infront of me not breaking a sweat.
Here's what I want: I want Fender (which now owns Presonus, and itself is owned by Servco Pacific Inc.) to buy UAD and make the Studio-Live 64 act just like an API Vision board, in the box, for ATMOS. I have written to both UAD and SofTube to create such a device. I'm just too ahead of my time for such a device. SofTube told me that I am thinking really big. Fender (Servco Pacific Inc.) has the money and power to make this happen. It's the future! They should make it happen now, and not wait 5 to 10 years to catch up to the march of history.

it really depends on your needs and your budget. This mixer is way more expensive than an audio interface. However, buying a mixer like this can "future proof" you in your studio and you can grow into it.
They say that the sound quality is not good for use in the studio!?
Dave - will you be showing how to setup and control multiple headphone mixes?
Also, would to see livestream usage and working with other daws like reaper.
Pretty sure I’m going to use your affiliate link to get this before that sweetwater deal runs out. Thanks for the detailed review!
I wont have multiple musicians in here so I doubt I will be doing that, sorry. There wont be any live streams with other DAW's either unfortunately. I am sure there are other channels that may have something.
Hey uncle Dave I'm building a small home studio what's your thoughts on using presonus Studio live 16.02. Mixer Just for the Front end , for instruments and microphones, and vocals.
The studioLive is a great choice as a front end for recording, especially if you are recording bands and want to capture the band playing live
On the studio live 16.0.2 Can the inputs be individual output on the mixer,(another words track them out) hard wire separately not USB , and if so what is the set up for it. Thank you.
So I can only control my Daw if I use my Ethernet cable
That is correct
Hi, I plan to use this desk in a studio with a separate live room and control room.
Yes, you can do what you are describing for sure. No stage box needed if you have long enough mic cables. Here is my Sweetwater link if you decide to purchase from them. Thank you in advance

Question from a beginner.. I have the studiolive 32sx. Was using it for live purposes. I use my Apollo twin x and I love my UAD pluggins using the dsp. Is there a way to intergrate the Apollo and studiolive in the studio?
I dont think you can integrate them unless you are on a MAC and setup an "aggregate device"
I’ve been looking for info on this board as it seems like it may be useful to me. However, I’ve never heard anyone record anything through it. Do you have any videos actually recording with this board?
check out my drum recording videos I did about 2 months ago. All done with this StudioLive
Fantastic set of videos on the Studio Live 32SX, many thanks Dave - Looks like the perfect upgrade from my old 16 channel combo of Presonus Studio 1824C & the Digimax DP88 (via ADAT) ..... Sorry for the daft question but I'm assuming this works via USB c for PCs... And it doesn't use fire wire or thunderbolt better suited to Macs?
It's USB A. you will need an adapter
Hang on, are you saying it can't control studio live as a DAW controller without plugging into a router? Why would that be?
Correct. Not sure why they designed it like that. You would need to ask Presonus
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy so, just to be clear, it can't control the DAW without an internet connection? And that internet connection needs to be wired? Can't be wireless?
I can't figure this out in my head. Surely it can control the DAW via the usb connection? What exactly is the internet connection doing?
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy I don't have internet in my studio so can I just connect the mixer ethernet to the computer ethernet input without having a router involved?
Hi Dave. I bought a studeolive 32sc. I did everything your tutorial said to do, I loaded universal control and updated it along with the new version of studeo 6. But in ucnet, It does not show my macbook Pro, nor does it give me the option to select studeo one. In universal control, it tells me that studeolive is not connected. But in studeo One, I see the meter moving to my tr8s, but It won't show up in my daw controls. I know it can't be a connection issue because my faders are working in unversal control, just not in the studeo one. I been at this for hours in and just can't figurevit out. Can you please tell me what I might be doing wrong? I greatly appreciate it . Tnx.
Not sure. i would contact Presonus tech support
I could not find my PC under Software Control. I have studio one5. I connect ethernet from the 32sx to router that has same connection with my PC.
There are three to select:
None
Mackie control emulation(Logic)
HUI Control Emu (pro tools)
In which i dont need these but still confuse why it shows them on screen under software control. Please help!!
Not sure. This is a question for Presonus Tech support
Thanks.
The series 3 mixers can do what you are describing
So maybe I'm just dumb, but I cannot get my computer to appear in the UCNET screen. However, when I click 'permissions' it shows there...
any thoughts?
No Idea. Maybe someone in the comments can help with this?
With that much money for computer based hardware, I’d be really interested in knowing if it will maintain some usability after it becomes a legacy product.
Sure it would. Its all in firmware updates.
I have the Studiolive 24. The 24 is no longer available new. I bought mine from Sweetwater, refurbished and a 2-year warranty was included. It looks like this 32. Earlier this week I installed the latest firmware update from PreSonus with no problems.
Hey Dave do you have a solution for using DAWMODE in Ableton 11? I'm using a series III but my main DAW is Ableton yes I have Studio One 6 and it works in DAWMODE but I want to use Studio One as a last resort, DAWMODE last worked for me about 3 years ago with Ableton and it was all good then I got sick and was down for a few, everything worked using the Mackie XTN protocols with Logic but now I see it's grayed out and not for the life of me can I remember how to set that back up, if anyone else can also help me out I'll be a very happy camper, thanks.
No, I dont use Ableton, sorry
Hey Dave to give you an update, I got it to work again and I'm back to using the board in DAWMODE with Ableton 11 I also use it with Studio One 6 as well Landen at Presonus was really a big help in getting me set back up so now I need to play catch up with your videos with using it with Studio One thanks for the videos.@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy
Hiya Dave,
Can you please help by doing a brief Introduction course, highlighting the pursuit of correct cabling, signal flow and connectivity for the gear we’re using, not so much the nature of out board gear, which you cover in other videos, but to know how to use various ways of introducing a fusion or bus compressor as an example to a signal chain to enhance a processing set up.
A BIT ABOUT ME:
I’ve been a musician and guitarist for mostly all my life, and aspire toward a quite ambitious footprint for my home recording studio and have a Studio Live Series Three Mixing Console at the heart of my set up too. Its how I plan on rasing my game to take material I have been working on for years to the next level of production, so I’m not green as a musician but everything else, but my love of sound engineering at 17 yrs old should have led me to walk into the industry then, but I didnt have the education or money to get it then, but nearly 40 years later
Whilst my lack of familiarity & experience screams at me daily.
To Conclude
I have viewed some pretty good stuff out there that do cover some things mentioned above, but seem to stop maybe only a few paragrahs short or a module short?
PS
Sorry for the long blurb
Noted! Will see. :)
hi sir i forgot my studio live 32sc mixer administration password system is lock now how should i fix
Factory rest the mixer and/or contact Presonus tec support
I dont believe so, but I would double check with Presonus
Here's what I want: I want Fender (which now owns Presonus, and itself is owned by Servco Pacific Inc.) to buy UAD and make the Studio-Live 64 act just like an API Vision board, in the box, for ATMOS. I have written to both UAD and SofTube to create such a device. I'm just too ahead of my time for such a device. SofTube told me that I am thinking really big. Fender (Servco Pacific Inc.) has the money and power to make this happen. It's the future! They should make it happen now, and not wait 5 to 10 years to catch up to the march of history.
Ok, maybe Fender will do this
Works with 456
What's 456?
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy Works with Studio One V4, V5, and V6
The second set of LCDs is not in the 32SX version, but in the 32"S" version. I assume that the SX version is somewhat stripped down compared to the S version - the latter also has the full 32 faders, while the SX version does not.
yea, kind of strange. I wish the SX had that set of LCD's
@@HomeRecordingMadeEasy understandable. Thank you for presenting the controllers in such detail. Still I tend rather to buy the faderport 16.
