I'm sceptical of these add on grate kits. The one on my Aspect 4 DS seemed to cause the glass to craze despite the fuel being bone dry and burnt with a reasonable amount of air flow. Parkray said it was due to over firing but there's no way it was as the temps were never above 400f and I strongly believe the additional heat eminating from the additional grate kit caused the crazing as it only occurred directly in front of the additional steel/iron work and nowhere else on either of the 2 door glasses. I'd be interested to know your thoughts on this. Have to say though, other than that the Aspect stoves are impressive as wood burners👍

This is normally caused by the condensation from when you’re first burning. This would align with the fact that it happened near the metal work, which prevents air from dry it out. It doesn’t tend to be temperature at all, it’s moisture mixing with the fumes from smokeless fuel.
Good advice to everyone is to ensure you leave the door open until all condensation is gone. As long as you do that it should never happen again.
This is a real pain, and because the model wasn’t designed with a grate from the ground up, could have contributed to the issue. But to be fair no matter what stove you have condensation is the enemy in this case.

I have this exact stove and always thoughtif you could add some coal it would be perfect and it seems there is now a kit. Be interested to her your thoughts on performance with coal and logs together.

Only issue is if you do remove the base bricks it look like what will become the primary air supply is at the wrong level it needs to come in under the grate
