I dont know why everyone is so quickly going to the "gaslighting", "manipulative" and "insane" route. Have yall ever been in high school? This is like 65% of teachers!! Some teachers believe that they know everything in superiority to their students. To the point that they'll take one piece of misinformation and RUN with it, often if it means that they're "protecting us" from something. This happens most often with facebook headlines. My right-wing teacher told me just the OTHER DAY that the most crimes in america are committed by minorities...not even close to true. Half the time, all students can do is sit there, because you get accused of being [something deplorable] when you say something. It just taught me to check my sources.

    • @finchcarvingadiamond

@@rob4750 I do think that the teacher probably had good intentions but it is still their job to be informed on the subjects that they bring forth to the class, ESPECIALLY if they find it of great importance to their student's lives. My school runs training programs to teach their educators how to detect fake news and maintain political non bias. And they learn how to cite credible sources from college... so... half of it was on this passionate guy.

  • @Scrittus

Highschool teachers, in my experience, have almost always been out of touch like this. Heck even some of my college professors have been. However, when you try to debate them, or bring a different perspective as a student, it's those types of teachers who reveal just how little they actually think.
The teacher in the video reminds me of many teachers who are just there to stand in front of everyone and lecture because they believe they are the smartest in the room. They don't like being interrupted, and they don't like it when someone challenges their intellect. They just want to speak in monologue and be heard by others. It's discouraging to say the least, and one of the reasons I tend to educate myself on course material instead of relying on them.

Not only did Felix get more support as a result, but their blatant bias seems to have made a lot of young people even more distrustful of mainstream media. By publishing poorly researched and over exaggerated articles, outlets like the Wall Street Journal and Vox have pushed people away from them, and made more extreme news sources look credible by comparison. Vox is only making themselves look worse with every article and every tweet, and even their fans are calling them out on it. Any real conversation there is to be had about rising white supremacist movements online is completely defunked by them choosing to aim all of that om one completely innocent and very admired person. I feel like I can't take anyone attempting to call out Nazis seriously, cause how do I know they're calling out someone who genuinely supports hateful ideas and not just someone they disagree with? Or somebody who liked a Ben Shapiro tweet? These are the things that apparently make you a guilty fascist now. Its insane, its an actual witch hunt. No. Teachers are supposed to teach critical thinking. They're supposed to teach children to differentiate between facts and opinions, examinate the veracity of the facts, weigh the implications of those facts and the ramifications behind them, etc. Basically teachers need to equip children with the ability to examine information thoroughly and come up with their own conclusion rather than telling them what to think.

As someone studying to become a teacher, that video at the end was disgusting behaviour. I can't tell you how many times it's repeated in even the most basic courses on education that you should NEVER preach rather than teach. I don't know what this guy was thinking when he got to that point but I'm incredibly disappointed and I think he should genuinely be reviewed for malpractice. The job of an educator is to lead students to sources of information and share information so your students can come to their own conclusions. You do not; tell a student what to think on a currently undecided point (Ex; "Should countries have nuclear arms?"), ever tell a student that their *opinion* is wrong without offering a chance for them to defend their stance (questioning their reasoning and challenging them to defend their thinking would not fit under this in my opinion), or attempt to scare a student with *misinformation about the law*. Anyone who had ever done this with one of their classes is someone I would drop as a colleague fast.

You can tell he is merely regurgitating what the media has said and hasnt actually looked properly into it. He is some twat on a power trip.
I teach science and not once have I said what I think, my opinions or views on a topic. That would be incredibly wrong. I wont even discuss my political views. It is not my place. I want people to be able to form their own opinions and make sure they have enough, factual information to do so. I also make sure I fully research a topic before I talk about it

"You do not; tell a student what to think, ever tell a student that their opinion is wrong, or attempt to scare a student with MISINFORMATION ABOUT LAWS." To the last one absolutely yes. To the first two no and wrong. Those two can be beneficial for fostering critical thinking in others (students) if done appropriately/in the right manner. I mean I hear you man. But some subjects can't just be reduced to transfer of information. There are skills that are taught and, more importantly, some subjects by their very nature necessitate open discourse, debate, and dialogue about different ways of looking things. It's just not cut and dry here's the info- it's here's the info and the values and ideas that go along with it. However was that teacher losing his patience and approaching that subject/ideas in the wrong way. Sure.

    • @laurakelly434
      @laurakelly434 5 років тому +2

@@StandingForLight that is true but the teacher must remain impartial. I have played the devil's advocate and due to teaching science have made classes debate over certain topics, teaching them how to present their argument and the importance of doing their own research and presenting facts. Not opinions based as facts. Its an extremely useful tool to get the children thinking more about a topic and also thinking from a variety of different view points.

I actually had a teacher in High School who preached the first about god the first hour of every class and then spent 30 minutes talking about the subject(Science). She also held me after class to rant to me about not accepting Jesus and how I wouldn't get anywhere in life until I accepted him. And she admitted she was only teaching until she could get and pass all 3 of her kids.
I didn't report her, despite the numerous violations to her position as a teacher; however, her children weren't that smart and no matter how much she helps them to pass, they will fail later on in life. Also, given how the school hired a previous graduate(the person literally graduated the year before) as the Anatomy & Physiology substitute for an entire semester, who forced the class to watch "Gray's Anatomy" every fucking day, before giving us the actual final(pre printed off for the entire class by the teacher she was subbing for), which all but 2 people failed(and they were interning at the hospital for a credit). Anyway, it was better to have a religiously fanatical teacher than a complete incompetent one.

There are lots of MMOs out there that use famous emotes and nobody ever thought of filing a complaint or suing those companies. I think it comes down to money. People are aware of how much money EPIC makes, so why not cut yourself a slice since, you know, they were the ones who performed that particular emote in the first place, except, I've never heard that you can "copy strike" somebody for usage of a physical action which was used in some TV show or a movie, etc. By that logic, it's the companies that make TV shows, movies and other entertainment content that should issue a copy strike against EPIC Games. Actors are just employees... unless they have it written in their contract which would state that any physical/verbal action performed while being employed as such is a property of that actor and not the company, then it's bs. By that logic, saying, "No, I am your father" or any other famous movie quote should be punishable by law. Or imagine if Disney were to copy strike every god damn person on planet Earth for mimicking the Force move set. Like, force push, force lightning, etc. That's insane. I think the same goes for video games. Actors don't hold any IP rights while employed for a video game company. Like, it's Nintendo that copy strikes people for using characters and their voices, not actors who did the job. Imagine Bethesda copy striking or suing people for countless uses of Dovahkin references or straight up using his Fus Ro Dah shout (which is an in-game sound, so you're basically "stealing") of which there are many on UA-cam.

The "fun" fact about the whole Pewdiepie thing is that the media is so concerned that Pewds has so much power and is using it to warp the minds of young "kids", that they fail to notice they're doing the exact same thing. I can't understand how so many people can try and ruin the life of one man, without doing proper research. I honestly wouldn't mind it if he were the type of person they are all making him to be... Random snips and bits like the couple seconds video where a random character with a racial/offensive name tag is running past him do not count as "evidence"... I've heard someone say that he should've exited the game immediately. If people would actually do that, no one would play games anymore...
It is a given, that the more something is off limits, the more "attractive" it looks for "kids"... this has been going on for ages... ask any parent... but it is ever-present in this "era" of the internet as well... remember Beyonce's photo from that concert.... the more they tried to take it down, the more it spread around.... same with the "Ligma" thing and so forth.... The more they'll try and bring him down with false or poorly researched, out of context evidence, the more him and his fans will "meme" it ...
I don't deny the existence of really bad people with awful ideologies, but they should at least do a little bit of research before spilling out horrendous words that could ruin a mans life...There is so much sh*t going on in this world... can we focus on that? It's what the system wants; clueless outrage culture to distract everyone from the truth. They came up with term "anti-semitic" to stop legitimate criticism of them. They're sinister capitalist Zionist who would and have murder millions all in the name of profit for the past hundred years

Correct Opinion As a former teacher let me tell you they let a lot of idiots be teachers.. it’s not exactly a high-demand job from an employee standpoint - about half of teachers (including me) quit within their first 5 years. It’s ironic because you’d think teachers should be smart because they’re, well, teachers. But it’s often not the case as clearly seen with this donkey in the video.

Surely students or parents should complain to the School.
When a teacher tries to push any specific agenda - Politics, religion, their own beliefs..
That is completely crossing the line.

I really think an educator should stick to what they are teaching and keep their political ideology to them selves. It is unacceptable to try and conscript kids into his way of thinking because he speaks from a position of authority. Now if this was a political science teacher then he should stick to teaching from a neutral standpoint. Honestly, if i were the head of the school and heard that one or more of my teachers was pushing their own bias and ideology on their students, i would give them a warning or even suspend them. Its their job to educate, not conscript/recruit.

You only have to watch a few Pewdiepie videos to see that he’s nothing but a chill, normal guy just goofing off and having fun. He’s actually quite humble compared to some other creators, too. He’s not a hero or a villain, he obviously has no ulterior motives. Seeing so many accuse him of being a racist is quite surreal and baffling and certainly doesn’t help my trust in the media!

There is a teacher shortage in a lot of places. Not many people want to teach since it's such a difficult job not exactly equivalent monetary compensation. Hiring quality teachers is hard to do when you have a bunch of empty positions in the district you're trying to fill.

One day when I was home visiting from college I noticed that the xbox I shared with my brother was missing but all the cords were still plugged in and the controllers and games were still there too someone had just taken the console and nobody had even noticed how long it had been gone because my brother hadn't played it in awhile since getting a nice pc. To this day I know it had to have been one of my brother's friends since no robber would steal an xbox and not take the cables, games, controllers, or literally anything else out of the house. My best guess is it was a kid who already had an xbox but theirs shit out so they only needed a new console and knew my brother wasn't using his often and probably wouldn't miss it. Still bogus af to steal from your friends. Eventually ending up discovering my best mtg cards were gone too probably the same person.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” - C. S. Lewis
