Scuba Chris very informative, the music didn't distract nor make the video off put. I purchased the 471 for drop 100ft for seabass. Great execution love power handle. But was curious how to beach surf with her on the cast. I was waiting for someone to explain centrifugal drag, excellent product. I will attempt casting 75'-150' and fine tune now I know how. I was using my accurist p3 in now n' later colors. Getting very good with baitcasting. Can't wait to use on kayak over wreck
Damn, bottom jigging will be a winner! I'm almost ready to to take out the Whaler that is my friend's dive boat. If you look on UA-cam many jiggers off charters are pulling up tunas to amberjacks using that model. For the larger 471 you really need the power handle.

Gomexus handles & knobs. On my favorite units of ALL my reels i have Gomexus &/or Goture options already on them. Greatest way of combining comfort with power. If you watch my channel i'm one of the few where the US & China reps are constantly sending me accessorizes to use as i've helped them on models that they have no access to. And in most cases i modify the parts to make them work. And most US companies/reps have noticed this so when i request a unit from them they send it because if my mods are successful it'll mean that their units become more popular. In fact Jack of the US has already sent a new handle w/extras to me from last week. A new item from China & others from the US for another project. I currently have some longer handles for baitcasters from a shipment last year. Which unit do you have? KDS-364P/471P?
Hello Chris, i like to fish in coast with the Reels like de Daiwa sh20,but is a bit large for mi hands. Wich low profile reel You recomend me under 200usd? Fishes here are betewen 5kg and 8kg maximum. I like yo cast long distances, wich reel could You recommend me? Thanks
If it was me i would use the Komodo 200. Casts FAR w/max drag at 25lb. The MSRP is $220. You're other choice but i haven't used one yet is the Citrix 200. This one is $175 with the same max drag. If you really want to cast far clean that goop off the bar & just use lube. I'd suggest this for ANY bait caster (i show how to do this in my videos. Good luck.
Can you please tell me is the handle loose on this Komodo reels,I bought new one today ,feels kinda loose when reeling,like it has 0.5mm of free space when you grab the drag star and try to pull in,out.Sorry for my bad English hope you understand my question.
@@ScubaChris Its not the screw its sealed tight...Its like the gears have space and then handle moves left-right small ammount of space...I cant explain other than grab the drag star and move it left right ,and i mean not to tighten or loosen the drag but left right reel has some space....Man sorry to bother you i just cannot explain better.
Ok, when all 6 studs are in (close to the core) it means the magnets are fully engaging the spool & will slow the spool's rotation. So if you put 3 studs out of the 6 magnets those 3 magnets are now further away from the spools core thus the spool will spin more freely. Since this i tried 4 magnets out which means i can cast even farther as now only 2 magnets are slowing the spool's rotation . Now i put all studs out meaning if your tensioner's settings aren't correct you'd have a major bird nest problem. I did this gradually to get the feel of this high end bait caster.

I'm not sure to be honest with the 2 larger units i have. I have the 300 & 400 Komodos. I suspect if you use the new 200 size w/light braid that it'll be ok. Also i wipe off the grease and i use lube instead. Wow, so smooth and you can cast farther as well!
You request it when you order the reel. "P" is for Power Handle so for my 450 series the item#KDS-471P, the "P" denotes you're requesting a power handle.
So the reel is tagged as SS but the gears you removed the grease from are white plastic, kinda false advertisement in my book. If the internals are advertised as SS then they all should be not just a selected ones. Just my 2 cents.

Paddles for my smaller unit, power handle for the largest, the midsized? Still deciding.

Make sure the handle is tightly on. Just undo it & tighten it again. If you look i have the Power Handle on mine. Is yours the basic Paddle Handle?

Scuba Chris it says on okuma’s page that when then studs are pushed in that the brakes are off allowing further distance for casting

Those are centrifugal brakes, closer to the center for a faster spin out for slower. Similar to how a ballet dancer would spin

I never removed the handle, you order the units for right/left usage and dual paddle/power handle usage.
Just remove that bolt with a properly size wrench and than the screwplate and bingo I did the same on my diawa lexa 300 and 400 and put power handles

I only needed to remove the heavy grease from the plastic gears only as that slowed the rpm's. And it worked.
