Love the fact that you don't try to hide the fact that you're catching fish. Some vidios the fishermen act like it's a secret spot. Shame the water is polluted !!!Thanks for the video.
With you having the trolling motor dialed in now and the weather breaking to the cool side its going to be some great fall fishing and great videos Dave, I think you got a 100 pounder coming!!!!!
I use braid backing mono mainline. The braid helps if you need extra line and it’s away from the cover and you can load up a low profile with line that way
Nice job on the bottom bouncing; looks like you’ve got it pretty well dialed in. Like your setup too; Okuma is good gear- maybe not the best, but nice stuff for the $.
Hi catfish Dave need to come to milford reservoir in kanas think you would love it it's has alot of big blues in it and great trophy size to. Learning alot from your channel keep up the great work.
It would be nice to have catfish Dave come to Kansas to fish. I live about a hour and a half from Milford and I’m gonna give it a go in the spring of 2022.
Those Okuma's are looking pretty nice. Really like that they have aluminum side plates. Beast of a reel for a low profile. Way beefier than my Curado K's, and only a few dollars more. Definitely going to get one next time I need a low profile reel.
Well that new okuma set up seems like it's a pretty good setup and I'm kind of like you are I'm kind of skeptical with the braid I've got braid on one of my spinners now and it is a real small diameter buddy I has the strength of a 15 lb test and all of my other spinners I've got either 10 lb or 12 lb on my baitcasters now my other bigger rods I got 17 lb on up to nearly 30 lb and casting that small diameter braid it can be real tricky when you are used to casting monofilament so I can understand you but it seems that okuma is a good setup but I enjoyed the video I enjoy watching videos with you and two other people on UA-cam and I enjoy all of the videos probably between you and Justin Johnson y'all are my two favorite Steve Douglas I love his videos but you catfish Dave when you put out a new video I normally watch it and pass it on to my kids
That looks like a way to get a lot of fish in a little time, you do make it look easy I guess that's why you're Catfish Dave. But listen, over here in Ar the river is low there is hardly any flow and the dams aren't letting any water go, so were do you suggest getting skipjack in these conditions, great video by the way!
Ha ha, I just saw this after I posted a comment saying how great they looked, and I was going to get one lol. What kind of problems do your friends have with them?
@@dave4327 when you cast it the clutch will engage the spool and stop the spool from releasing. That sucks especially on a hard cast and your bait goes flying off the hook. 🤣🤣....I've seen it personally. My buddy had one at the lake one day and I was admiring the looks but after watching that reel malfunction over and over .....NO WAY. Dave better get a refund while he can 🤣
@@brotherbrian5625 Were they using braid? That will happen sometimes to me especially using smaller braid, 20lb ish. A hook set, or pulling hard through vegetation will pack the line down into the spool, and do just what you said. (best not go for a bomber cast right after a bunch of tension) Mono doesn't much do that in my experience. Sorry for the long winded question, but I was really interested in these reels after CD showed them, and I looked at them on Tackle Warehouse.
What is the average weight of a skipjack and what the biggest one you have seen or caught? Also love watching your videos, it’s great to go with you on your fishing trips.
I wouldn’t necessarily say fishing with mono is an old guy thing, however if you’ve fished with mono for 30 plus years like a lot of us have, you just become accustom to it. It’s all about dialing in your setup..if mono is too stretchy or not sensitive enough, compensate with a longer or more sensitive rod, use a faster gear ratio reel.. and if you’ve never thrown mono on a baitcaster..whoowee..it’s so slicky smooth, long casts, durable..dial in that setup homies
Why do you not fish Big whole LIVE skip jack , right where you catch the big Skips . Big Catfish follow big bait right,. I almost got an 80-90 blue on a 2 lb live skip. Well I hooked it, and got a look as it surfaced and rolled and took my hook line and sinker lol
Get you some Better Bait off Amazon for the live well. River Certified uses it all the time. He actually has to because where he’s from he can not transport water from one place t another. And he loads his bait bucket down with numerous big Bull heads and Green Sunfish. Anyway. Sorry. I’ll continue watching now.
I know some of you youtubers are to proud to accept money from others but why not!? If people wanna donate they will if not ...no loss . Its kinda like the mask thing hahah
Trust me brother, Dave can sing. This was him just being funny by singing badly on purpose. Dave made a go at music as a career in his younger days, he's pretty talented!
I swear, NO ONE catches more decent sized fish than this man. I’ve never seen anyone come close. His consistency is insane
Nobody can out catfish the Dave. 💯 Facts
I agree with you. Dave is the GOAT
Shit richerd Gene the fishjng machine
Steve Douglas might have something to say about that!
But I do love Dave, he is awesome!

Nice bag of fish enjoy watching your videos 👍
Thanks for another great video Dave!
Mr, Dave give him a wave, catfish to us he gave, not fishing under the luna, using his new Okuma!
Great idea using the float and current to catch skipjack. Awesome.
I've been using the komodo ss 471 for a few years now, it's awesome reel.

Like always... Another super video man
Hello again good to see another video buddy always good when i wake early like this so i have something to watch very cool

Wooooooooooooo, my day just got awesome with a catfish dave video. Yeahhhhh
you do make it look easy my friend, but I know better. thanks for another great one!
It's so easy easy🎵when all the catfish are out to please me baby🎵🎶yeah it's so easy easy... I comment to support the algorithms 😆
Good job Dave enjoyed the action.
You were pushing brain in some of your earlier videos. Bought some of it, pretty good stuff. Now you don't like braid. lol Great video

they are nice but if you want an old classic that is a great reel the Shimano Bantam 50 holds the same line but is slower ratio I think.
@@MackinNC1 Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.
Thank you for the video
Love my komodos iv been using them for 3 years now try the clicker once and listen to how loud they r I love them
Those skip jacks looked like nice sized fish! We don’t have any in New Mexico.
Cool catches!!!!
Dave stay on the fish another great video
It wild how similar to hickory shad those skipjack are. I use the same bobber technique, call it trolling
Love it when the fish talk back
Best fishin channel by far
Best singer too
No it ain't quit your brown nosing
Guy in the pontoon hanging out watching you catch fish
I've been using komodo reels for quite a few years for musky fishing. They're built like a tank.
You got my Alga Dave!
Another good one
Some of those skip jacks look like they have the right size heads like you need.
You the man catfish. Dave
Good Fisher man not much on singing good video Dave 👍
Dave, You should have bought a left-handed one.Like reeling in a spinning reel. Great show. God Bless

Dave put a whole skippjack on live. In a real deep hole. Big flatty time
Just found this channel, was impressed with the fish, then looked at other video, and found out it's just bait for bigger fish😨big 🐋
Dave you got to take me out fishing
Love ya Dave and I Love Okuma gear but the few guys I know who have that reel have trouble with it.

Wait.... what? No banjo tunes?
What is the average weight of a skipjack and what the biggest one you have seen or caught? Also love watching your videos, it’s great to go with you on your fishing trips.
Just over 4 pounds is maximum weight. They average between a pound and two pounds
You do make it look easy Dave did you get that bilge pump fixed
If more folks would pile on- we might shame him into getting a bilge. I've mentioned 2-3 times.

Braid throws farther cause smaller diameter line
@@mufasakingdom8350 braid is definitely overrated

your new Humminbird -- is it a helix 7 and is it G3n or no 'N' . I want a Helix 7 mega SI/DI but don't think i need 'N'. Thanks..
Catfish Dave what size komodo reel did you get?
The season of suck must be coming to an end. Because you have been reeling a lot of fish in lately. And some big ones at that.
Dave what model is that new reel?
Catfish Dave, do you think the bumping process would work in lakes for big channel cats or flatheads?
Your videos are awesome!!
You need heavy current to bump. You just need to suspend drift and move around over prime areas
@@catfishdave8192 Thanks!!!

I sure wish it was that easy where i fish
Do u ever use inline spinners
Seriously, there's got to be a secret sauce!
When you having dieter on your boat?😆
Linda Ronstadt can't even wear CFDs jockstrap,I take him singing and fishin, you da man CFD!!!
👍👍👍👍👍
So are just trolling upriver, bumping it off the bottom?
I am drifting down river using trolling motor to slow me down
👍
What happened to the music when you are reeling in a fish
noticeably missing was the fiddle and banjo music...
I’m not complaining
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

I can’t catch a skipjack to save my life!! Fishing the Ohio river
catching skipjack looks more fun then catching catfish ....
YOUR VIDEOS AND FISHING TECHNIQUES ARE EXCELLENT BUT YOUR SINGING NEEDS HELP LOL!!!
You caught a fish with that reel so it's a fishing reel
It's so easy, even a DAVE man can do it.
I wonder if he even eats fish ??
I tried braid I didn't like it , I dug into it self I lost fish , been fishing for 60 years , each to his own ,
Hate fishing in current. A 5lb fish feels like a 25lb fish and takes just as long to bring in
I know some of you youtubers are to proud to accept money from others but why not!? If people wanna donate they will if not ...no loss . Its kinda like the mask thing hahah
i think the old fisherman and fishing machine and Grubbs have stopped their youtube channel
Richard posted one today as did Hagen Grubb. Richard has had Covid
No Linda Ronstadt when it comes to singing but she can't fish like Dave can either. It's So Easy 👍
She could be the anchor
I’ll never understand the catch and release mentality. Never. Not an insult, btw. I just don’t get it.
Could have bought a bilge pump for half the cost of that reel
Can buy a bilge pump at Walmart for 30 bucks
Sounds like a broken record to me
It's so easy
Dave you're just a non conformist. Everyone uses braid for bumping!
Dave please use some of the money you make for singing lessons.
Hillbilly music is alright but your singing has to go
