I've still got my original Man At Arms, and he's still got the mustache with pen I think that I gave him.
I did the same thing!
LOL. I remember being confused as a small kid why the toys and cartoon didn’t always match just like I didn’t understand why Superman didn’t use his saran-wrap chest symbol in the comics I had.
Same
As someone who missed Classics (found out when it was ending), I love this new line for the vintage aspect, the price point, the future releases, and play ability with my kids. Very well done Mattel!
Love the stache! Mustached man at arms is best man at arms.
I'm also really hoping they give us more filmation inspired headsculpts/characters like the classics line got. I'd love to see a filmation skeletor (also with an open mouth much like the origins figure) as well as Icer, Batros (please give me a origins Batros), Strongarm, and others in the origins line!
Love this MAA, his colors, articulation, and that STACHE! Sooo good, I think my two faves in this wave are him and Beastman. Love that updated vintage feel, plus it’s a toy not a collectible per se. Mattel are the 🐐
I'd love to see Thundercats done in this style
I'm actually hoping for a superman as he appeared in the original masters comics
I really wish, I could like this post more than once. That would be awesome. I’m glad Super7 is continued the classics style. I would love a vintage style though
No
Yeah I'd like to see that and all kinds of crossovers! DOOM Guy would be cool
Omg I said that lastnight!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Just got him in the mail today! my 4th origins figure....LOVE this line
So happy to see that gave him the *s t a c h e*
Vintage face and helmet looks much better to be honest
@@holzbergerpeter4480 but it doesnt have the mustache
GREAT REVIEW AS ALWAYS DUDE.
Really loving the new heman origins line it takes me back to when I was just a young lad with my original heman toys. Nice to to them upgraded the way mattel have done so. I'm sure we shall soon see man at arms included into the heman origins deluxe figure range. 👍
so good to see you back reviewing new MOTU figures again.. after so many years!! 😎😎
I already pre-orderd him. I'm so glad Mattel decided to sell more affordable MOTU figures for us.
$22 with tax isn't affordable
Found the first six, I'm digging them.
I was able to get this guy with a handful of others thanks to your link post. So thanks for that and the reviews.
I think Mattel should re-release all the Classic line from the start. I’m sure they would make lots of money with people like me who didn’t know about or came to late at the end for that line.
And after, release those new characters they want to develop, like they said at Power-Con 2020 for the continuation of the Classic line.
In my opinion, nothing beats the classic line so far ...
It sure would be nice to get rereleases of some of the Classics for only $20 each.
very cool Dan! thank you!!
Great to finally have a vintage looking Man At Arms with the tash!
Huzzah, it’s Man at Arms! So happy for Pixel Dan right now
I've seen battle cat and an Adam with the sky sledge at Walmart now, still no skeletor or he man though but hopefully they'll start putting em out on the shelves. Great review, pickle dan!
He looks like Dethklok's Murderface.
But after having lots of the OG MotU when I was little and collecting what I could of the 200x line when it first hit (and being far too poor to even TOUCH Classics), I can't wait to get my first ever Man-At-Arms figure.
Love filmation in this line and thundercats this is a good line to customise. Great there available in the shop
nice . I really want to get 2 of these one to keep as is , but the 2nd to go to town on and add paint apps to . like the wrist guards and the red gems .
I agree this origins line is the best to me! I was never into the classics, but these are a great way to capture the look of the animation, comics, and retro toys.
MOTU LIVES! So happy these exist. Thank you Mattel! Thank you Dan!
He is an awesome figure, I agree they will be much easier to display with the new leg joints instead of the elastic in the vintage figures, the colours are much brighter compared to the vintage figure, awesome review ☺
I used to put a blu-tac tash on Duncan. Just like this, with his face shape. My Dad said “Looks like Charles Bronson with that moustache. Being blue it matched his hair sculpted on the back of the helmet and was painted the blue colour of the helmet.
I think the new one looks like Jesse Ventura in Predator. I kinda wanna get a tiny MTV T-shirt and minigun for him. I bet a 7" scale wrestling figure shirt would fit. the torso width seems about the same between origins and classics.
Strawberry Princess oh bless you.
“Old painless!”
No, I never noticed that on the vintage one! Wow. That's insane.
8:39 - Red Dot Man-At-Arms, nice! 👍
Great review about the Origins! They are a worthy successor of the vintage;)
Love these. Great line to collect with the kids in your life.
If the kids from the 80's stop buying it all
@@jand8303 exactly 😂 kids of today can care less, I wish I could say "80s kids" I wish that the shelves are empty because of fans and collectors having fun hunting them, but no, that is not the case, unfortunately are the motherfucking scalpers that buys them all.
@@jand8303 I haven't bought it all. I know he likes He-Man and TMNT cause he plays with the vintage ones I have every time he is at my house.
MAA was the first Motu character I got as a child. Heman could not be located so MAA was my next choice. Got him at Service Merchandise if anyone remembers that store.
I wish you would do another throwback Friday
Wired thing about heman is the head sculpt looks bad in videos but awesome in person
It's Nacho Libre Man-At-Arms!! (Still prefer my Super7 5.5" one; that one IS Filmation inspired!)
Great review! Your original Man-At-Arms may need new leg bands! :P
Awsome Action Figure review
It looks like that is a shadow of the new land shark on the card
If you take the He-man chest harness and put it on the Man-at-Arms body, you basically have a Slime Pit He-man. All you need is a green He-man head.
Hope they release the vintage head someday
I hope we'll get some kind of accessories pack later. Stuff like extra swords (full Power Swords), laser rifles and pistols, staves, clubs, maybe a few head variants.
Did you see in the card art he is fighting the land shark! I think we need to pay more attention to the art in this line!
I noticed that, too!
Did anyone notice on the artwork on the back, the shadow on the ground looks like the Land Shark vehicle?
I hope walmarts in canada will pick these up too.
If you pear him with the original you have a younger Man at Arms and then older with the mustache
I live in Lexington Ky and haven't been able to find any of these figures. I have the skyslide and battlecat but no figures.
Yay! He's got a 'stache!
I've had to on-line order all my Origins figures except He-Man and Skeletor. No Wal-Marts or Targets that I've visited here in Austin have any other figures. It's slightly more expensive to pay an ebay seller $20 plus shipping... but as a fan it's worth it to me. These figures are OUTSTANDING for all the reasons Dan lists. Although I must admit I'm not a mustache fan on ol' Man-at-Arms. I'll probably shave mine off with an x-acto knife and some careful painting.
Did you notice the shadow of the thing Man-At-Arms is shooting at? It's the Landshark vehicle coming out next wave
I would love to see these available at retail! I’ve only seen the Sky Sled and Battlecat.
They are.Check at walmart but good luck, you'll have to sleep at the store.
You had me at "modular".
They could have included the small laser pistol, though... a man at arms without arms...
I'm sure we'll get it in a deluxe release or accessory/weapon pack later on. :/
And the short sword.
My thought exactly.
You'd think a weapons master would at least carry a sword and blaster.
I'm so happy for this line. I'm buying all of them.
Pixel Dan is a Master of the Universe!!!
on the cardback you can see hint they left to the coming Land Shark
Now I am gonna buy the Origins line because they are doing Masterverse line :)
I got lucky today.
I found the whole wave this morning and got one of each.
I still haven't found Battlecat and the Skysled with Prince Adam.
These go well with the Masters of the WWE.
Pretty cool ✌👽
I seem to recall the mace head to be bigger?
One of my 11 year old brothers favourite hero’s is Man at arms so his gonna love it when I buy it for him! (He has a bunch of origins figures already)
My Plymouth Walmart is is getting he man and and skelitor on Tuesday can't wait also let me how man at arm's has a mustache
I prefer the shade of green of the original Man-at-Arms over this new one.
It looks obnoxiously bright
I prefer the color shades of all the original figures. They were more muted, rich and realistic. These bright colors remind me of '90s action figures.
Very cool, if I ever find He-Man at a Walmart shelf I may start collecting the line, but if to get him it takes paying to scalpers, then at least from me, I'll happily say bye bye to the line. Not gonna pay overprice for them.
I'm not mad at Duncan having a mustache, but since these figures are throwbacks he should have came with a clean shaven alternate head. Hopefully we'll eventually get a clean shaven Duncan head.
The shadow man at arms is shooting at is Landshark?
Awesome 🤘 love when you put the classic 80's figure at side
My favorite aside from He-Man! Remember having a figure of him back in the 80s.
I'm gonna buy one! 😛
Would be so awesome if they did these characters again:
Heroes= Fisto, Moss Man, Meckaneck, SyClone, Stratos
Villains= Too Bad, Stinkor, Triclops, Whiplash, Clawful
I am from a year the future and we have fisto, two stratos variants, stinkor, triklops and clawful so far.. i traveled just to let you guys in on this valuable info.
Hey Pixel Dan, and the comparison with the 200x line?
Greetings from Chile ...
You didn’t notice the land shark shadow?
@Brian Cairns Good reason to examine the card art more carefully in future, though, if they're going to tease forthcoming items like this.
@Brian Cairns Well, it WAS a tease when the cardbacks were printed. Blame Wal-Mart for not getting them out in time for it to be a proper tease. Wal-Mart messes EVERYTHING up. 🤣
@Brian Cairns Pffft. You need to grow a sense of humour.
@Brian Cairns Wal-Mart, mate. Wal-Mart is ALWAYS a joke! 🤣
@Brian Cairns 🤣
That makes sense, Dan! We are more articulated versions of our old selves as well! 😂
I hear ya, stretches, *Creak*
@@nicholasdickens2801 I meant verbally, but yours works too! 😅
I don't know. I seem to have gotten less articulated in my increasing years...🤣🤣🤣
I've skipped classic line as I didn't find it similar to toys from 80' (so many new characters and toys didn't look like original beefy toys), but this looks great.
Only issue, mattel seems to be shadow of the company it used to be in 80', so in Europe they almost disappeared and here everything is Lego. Finding origins here is impossible so I'm now buying it online. Too bad, kids here won't be able to buy these toys. But when I see mattel stock, no wonder they don't want to risk to include bunch of retailers in Europe for toy line that might fail.
It's a US Toy anyways Collect your own European stuff.
@@KirksCORNER Tell that to Megator, Tutus, Liser light He-Man... All created just because MOTU was so popular in Europe.
@@kermez9 I'm just messing with ya and I don't collect those
I would love to see the 1994 bandai megaman figures from the cartoon rereleased
Hey Pixel Dan, I finally got an Origins ManAtArms tonight!! Finally! But after having it in my hands I found an easter egg that I haven't heard anyone else mention. So figured if anyone would've it would have been you. But you didnt...not in the review anyway. On the card back art! Look at the shadow in the lower left corner. Look familiar? Im sure you caught it since making this review. Or no?
You may not have the name,
You may not have the cash,
But you'll make that girl your own.
If you only got a mustache,
a mustache, a mustache,
If you only got a mustache.
He’s gotta have the stache
I just wish they would of added the power punch features to this line... I could have sworn Mattel did say they would...
Super7 had it on theirs. My current He-Man packs a whollop!!
Tuck the forearm armor under the upper arm armor and it works fine.
Battle-ready Ron Swanson
On my copy if you turn the head too the right it turns into a bobble head
I WOULD be all in on this line, but I'm thinking the Masterverse figures might be more my speed. Decisions, decisions . . .
Plus: stache
Minus: unpainted bracers
I’m a no stache guy myself but this looks pretty good and I’m sure we’ll get a non mustachioed version at some point. I too noticed the lack of the red dots on the helmet, cool they gave him hair though.
Edit: It looks like the One that comes in the Lords of Power 5 Pack Powercon exclusive doesn’t have a mustache and has the red dots.
It’s a DIY! Just paint on the red dots yourself.
Wumpus that’s what I did on one when I started collecting them again in the 90’s, painted lots Masters and Star Wars figures, mostly just details. I should have repainted some of those 90’s Joes...
70's porn star version of Man-AT-Arms! LoL! Something I've always wondered about him is why the whole green body suit. It seems they would cut it off at the wrist and either give him gloves (brown) or just normal hands. I'm 42 and grew up in the original He-Man era (Stratos and Trap-Jaw were my favorites) and understand the quirkiness (cheapness) of the toy manufacturing process but they did that with a lot of figures. On Duncan it really stood out though...
I remember waking up xmas in the 80s and had all the first waves with castle grayskull..those were the days
I need a few wwe motu figs now to go with the origins...it’s heating up!! Origins!!!! I’m in baby!
Fantastic figures...still none on long island but thank God for eBay...over paying but worth it
I don't like how lurid that shade of green is. Evil-Lyn, Battle Cat and Skeletor were the same way, far too bright, and I much prefer their vintage colours. Why didn't Mattel match them to the originals, or even the Classics, to make sure the shades were correct?
I wish they'd just reissue the original line like they did with the commemorative series. If I want retro, I'll get retro. If I want new, I'll get new. Sick of this in-between stuff.
My cofounder Jeff of the youtube channel he and I started has one of the original Man-At-Arms figures from the original toy line, and he tried to draw a mustache on the one he owns, and I might do a video on it on my channel someday.
I hope Mattel figures out the supply issues with this line. Until they I will not be collecting them.
Supposed to be fix for next year.
Kinda of feel like the Vintage Man-At-Arms Super7 produced looked better.
I am so glad I have that one. He even came with his Stasis Ray!
I love how vivid his colours are!
Mine won't stand up! I gave up in the end and stuck him on top of Battle Cat.
Just noticed, the male figures have the 'classic' black dot/eyelid eyes yet the females have full on iris colour
if we don't get Moulok and Multi bot, people will riot
I told myself I wouldn’t buy anything from this line because revelations is coming. I lied. These reviews made me want them after seeing all the awesome artwork and newer quirks the figures have.
Anyone else getting their figure with a messed up open hand that has the fingers pressed together and bent???
I always found it ironic that Duncan, the brilliant inventor and master of weapons, uses a club- literally the most primitive weapon.
It's been slow picking for me so far. I've managed to find He-Man, Battle Cat, and the Sky Sled in stores and got Teela off the website, but nothing else yet. Hopefully I'll have more luck when wave 2 comes out, but it'll probably going to be this way until they open up to all stores.
I like all the techy stuff his mace did in the 200x series.
Great review as always, but that looks like a really sloppy paint job on the helmet, even for a 15.00 figure. Yellow paint incomplete in some places, missing the lines in others. They painted the hair in the back but left the tufts of hair on the sides unpainted and in a flesh tone. If you look at the vintage figure, they were painted blue as well. MAA is a core character so I just wish they tightened him up better, though I am sure the painting will vary per figure.
They'll do a pack-in with the red dots on the helmet and colored in a slightly different shade of green, so nerds will feel compelled to buy the toy again.
I really wish they would have painted the mustache and hair brown instead of black
Charles Bronson face
Man-at-Arms was always supposed to have the moustache, but they took it off the original toy, just to give it back for the cartoon.
NEVER heard this, before. Source?
