Ive had my odin 2 since late February, its handsdown the best handheld I've ever... held. Every time i pick it up and start playing im in aww by just how awesome it is in every aspect
The Odin 2 mini announcement def made me very glad I never bought an odin 2 or rp4, now I can have the best of both worlds I have wanted a snapdragon handheld that is pocketable for soooo long
The mini will have a smaller battery, way worse ergonomics, and cost more. Too many trade offs imo, the big battery and ergonomics are 2 of my absolute favorite things about my Odin 2. The mini is still big enough to not be super pocketable (and imo putting a device that expensive in your pocket and not a case is wild) so it just doesn't really have any benefits over the original 2 for someone like me. I guess the panel is mini LED but I am not disappointed with the screen on the Odin 2 in any way, at least not enough to lose all those other perks
Loved my cfw vita and psp But my New 3ds XL is my favorite it can play all ds, gba, gbc, snes, NES, gamegear, Atari 2600 etc - would for sure check them out 🔥
Personally I'm in the market for picking up an Odin 2 mini post-release after people have had time to check out the quality of it I don't mind paying the extra 30-40 bucks for some peace of mind. That Snapdragon 8 gen 2 is twice as much in a flagship phone from Samsung so seeing it at this price point in a gaming Centric handheld is a win-win for me. On the note of original Hardware a significantly less portable set up that I thought about in the past year was a PlayStation Vita TV with a portable OLED screen not anywhere near as convenient as the Portables in this video but can easily fit in a computer bag. In my opinion Vita really has had a Resurgence and The Homebrew has taken off pretty hard.
Oh my God I almost forgot supposedly mini LED has dimming zones that will offer much higher contrast very close but not quite as good as OLED from what I've heard
I got my modded psvita 1000 filled 256gb sd card stolen a couple months ago😢, im hoping my (soon to have) odin 2 mini will fill the void that was left yes the lack of oled will be missed but the brightness is very much welcome (makes sense in such a portable device)
RG556 is a really fierce competitor to the Ayaneo pocket air, similar sticks, oled screen, android, it's a bit weaker but can run most of the same things with some minimal tweaking, 556 is also a lot cheaper you will be able to get it for about $190 shipping & tax Included as opposed to something like $250+ second hand
Honestly, the lit up sticks would be way to distracting to me during gameplay. Even the lights around the sticks would bother me. I just don't get all the desire for these new handhelds when Vita is still easy to find and is awesome when modded. Also, 3DS and DSI are both great modded. Really don't care about playing current games on a handheld - even the Switch I only play docked only. For the most part I don't play the big bloated games on my Series X or PS5 - the only home console I play a lot is the Switch but most of my time is spent on my Vita and my DSi XL....as well as my "new" 3DS XL.
I did a video on that with a kind of hasty tutorial, but provided another one in the video description of this video: ua-cam.com/video/DqkDHWthT2A/v-deo.htmlsi=d6Id5SIoElkFFRBC&t=480
You should try a new 3ds non-xl, the smaller size with higher ppi gets a sharper screen. Also it's easier to rest your pinky on the bottom which actually makes it quite comfortable to play. And the japan one has the coloured button that looks really nice.
I have a New 3DS as my 3DS system and it's a great size for my hands, especially since I got a grip for it that helps a lot with 3D games where you use the nub as a second stick and you need to constantly keep your fingers on the shoulder buttons. Plus like you said the picture is clearer due to higher pixel density.
very exited about the Odin 2 mini, but I wish they would have chosen an OLED screen instead of mini led. 5 inch OLED screens must not cost that much these days and I am a little concerned about input latency introduced through the local dimming algorithm of the screen..
The Odin 2 seems like a great emulation device (especially for the price), but I don't think I can consider it a "one and done" device. It can't play PC games, lots of switch games, PS3, etc. The Steam Deck seems like the best value "one and done" device, but I don't like how big it is. That being said, I actually really like my GPD Win 4 with BazziteOS for "the SteamOS experience". Suspend-resume works on my Win 4, and it can emulate literally everything with Emudeck while also playing PC games via Steam, GOG, etc. You could try something similar with your Ayaneo 1S if you want to try something other than Windows, albeit I hear the Ayaneo 1S requires some nasty workarounds for SteamOS-style suspend-resume. Suspend-resume worked ootb on my Win 4.
What is the most right and most best for me is a handheld that works in my style. My style is a SEGA style. So, unfortunately, for me my options are limited but, I do have an Anbernic Arc S handheld and one day, I'd like to get a Steam Deck as it's design is very much a SEGA style. Other than that, if it doesn't serve that. Then, there is no reason for me to purchase a handheld no matter it's power and specs. If it is not in the style I want, forget it. It won't work for me. I even have a 8bitdo M30 for my iPhone to play SEGA games on there. I'd much rather prefer a SEGA handheld but, good sized or slim one of those in a modern design but still SEGA in feel. Well, they don't exist unless again you are talking Steam deck. I personally don't get the bias against us SEGA folks but, we didn't do anything wrong and just want to be represented equally as everyone else is already.
It's Pegasus using the Shinretro theme, but I customized it further with my own music, images/videos for categories and one or two other tweaks. Not an easy frontend to setup but one of the most satisfying, has many cool themes.
@@-roetaka awesome thanks :) also would love to see vids on your music writing/producing process. Even for the music you made for the frontend. I tend to watch docos on the music making on stuff like the doom games, classic sonic, and also movies like the new dune movie, tron legacy etc. I find it super interesting to hear the thought process and creative process behind music.
@@ChitosVids I actually did a kind of documentary style video last year on Bloodborne's music and an album I did inspired by the game and trying to sound as close to the original production as possible. Don't usually do videos like that but this channel gave me the video editing experience to try it out. ua-cam.com/video/XZU8gT6q7cU/v-deo.html
@-roetaka cuz i have it too and rp3+. I just preordered the ayn odin 2 mini. I don't know if i should sell them or keep them. I'm hardcore handheld collector as well. Has 11 windows handheld in possession, but I regret getting so much. I rarely got time to play them.
The Aya Neo Flip DS is absolutely beautiful hardware - but I want it to be Android rather than Windows. I have been waiting for an Android device to use as a dedicated DS and 3DS.
I have Odin 2, but I want to buy Odin 2 mini. For 2 important reasons but I also want to let you know on one nitpick what I dislike about my Odin 2. My Odin 2 has mushy button when I press A button when playing any games but more importantly playing fighting games I press a button repeatedly multiple times and it goes down burrows itself and won't come out few seconds later and then pops back up. I'm guessing I have bad button unit. *So I'm gonna buy Odin 2 pro because it has mini led first ever screen technology used in gaming handheld can't wait to compare it to my OLED switch and steam deck OLED. And the PS Vita like design is amazing while being portable and pocketable!*
As I watch you play with all the older handhelds, my brain feels the gentle pull of nostalgia... until I remember that original hardware lacks retroachievements.
Imo the Odin 2 is perfect. Is my everyday portable device since I got it and finally stopped the itch to look on reddit or youtube about what will come next.

Thank you for the video! Enjoyed it on my commute drive. We can never have enough handhelds!
I agree 💯, I love handhelds 😂
Enjoyed the free flow of thought through your collection of handhelds.
Always down to sit and hear you talk long form. The passion comes through strong and the good vibes are much appreciated
That Mario Kart gameplay was a sight to behold.
Nice comedic timing at 21:45.
I found your channel recently because I plan on getting a Odin 2 Mini, and it led me here. Really enjoy the content so far
This was great and damn your voice does not sound 36 man more long vids are appreciated
man I'm enjoying your video so much. more handheld stuff please.
You should do more of these. Excellent talking sir!

Give it to me straight!!! I'm obsessed with the Odin 2 and the mini, really considering making one my daily coucher instead of my phone.

Just for your information, the trimui smart pro has brightness adjustment for the lights, I believe it's 10 increments.

All of the psp age so well.
I'm with you on loving the stereoscopic 3D on 3DS
Rg35xx H and a Retroid Pocket 4 Pro covers all the retro gaming I enjoy and need and relatively easy to carry around.

There is an HD texture pack for OOT 3D, made by Henriko. It looks so good on my Steam Deck. Wish I had the OLED screen.
Great video friend
Now SORR works perfectly on Winlator. Just that you lose the ability to control it with the Odin sticks after a while and it drives me mad!!! 😢

Handhelds are cool.
Shout out to my fellow Pico-8 devs. The only thing cooler than playing Pico-8 on a handheld is playing a Pico-8 game /that you made/ on a handheld
did you sell your ayn odin 1?
No I still have it but it was my first emulation handheld so it has sentimental value to me.

takes his 3ds with 300 games on it. says: how do i turn it on?
the problem with retrohandhelds shown in 3 seconds.
Eh? It took me 3 seconds to remember lol, it's because it has an outer shell which covers the power button which I said after.
I’m just kidding with you mate, i always have to look for that button too on my black 3ds

Yeah but it came out 5 years ago mate.
