The cannabis industry is maturing so quickly. Even in heavy prohibition states like TX attitudes are starting to change for the better. The best way to ensure that this industry does not become like big tobacco or pharmaceuticals is to vote for legislature that permits home grows.

I have a problems with "permits home grows." The government's permission should not be needed at all. What we need are constitutional protections which limit the government's authority to prohibit manufacturing, possession and consumption of cannabis in all its forms.

This is exactly what has happened in Canada. Instead of opening up the market for mom and pap farmers, they made the law so rediclious that you need so much money and a dedicated lawyer to comply with every rule. Only big investors can compete in the market, big investors like bigpharma themselves.

Same for Florida here in the US. Each supplier has to be 100% vertically integrated. The licensing has been riddled with corruption and litigation. Miami's mega pot farms now generate an insane odor problem for their neighbors. The legislature is now working to limit THC levels, in the interest of "public safety".

I don't even think she fumbled a word once. She also has a way of explaining different viewpoints without even showing bias, which is hard to do even if you're not trying to. I would absolutely pay to have her tutor me on public speaking. Business Lawyer, soccer player and pretty too 👍

is it legal or not? if it's legal everyone should be able to grow as much as they want. if only certain people can grow especially large amounts than it's only legal for "special" people. those "special" people aren't really special. they're just "friendly slaves" they pay the federal government to look the other way in some way or another. how many tomato plants can people grow? as many as they want? why? because it's legal

I agree she had a very crisp delivery, (not one "um", "er", or jumbled word that I noticed), but she might have also been talking just a little too fast. But I absolutely agree with the content.

I use this as a pain management strategy, and it works wonders for my pain. I had neurosurgery to remove a tumor which took place in 2011 successfully. However, I was left with a lot of chronic pain, which this MEDICATION helps with a lot. While this helps to manage pain, this is an incredibly expensive option.

Look I can understand regulations for selling, they’re kind of needed to ensure the consumer has the information needed to make an educated decision. That’s basic economics. It’s the same reason people need to know if there’s sugar in a drink. When regulation starts to prevent entrepreneurship and only allow big marijuana, that’s also obviously a problem. What isn’t so clear is why people can’t grow it at home for their own personal use, like growing tomatoes instead of buying them from the grocery store. I fear that because it’s a “drug” in the government’s eyes, we will be forced into buying it from dispensaries as the only legal method, which I also fear may be leveraged against us in the future. It’ll be another way to track what we’re doing, and I’m not sure how but I fear that one day the government will overstep its boundaries with this, just like how they’ve overstepped their boundaries countless times in the past. It’s not good that the government even is as powerful as they are right now, but we all seem to be too concerned with all of the little issues that we forget to keep an eye on the tyrannical tendencies of the federal government.

What’s wrong with people growing cannabis at home ? Sure people will be happy to register their plants and apply for permit before growing them. There can be a limit of 6 plants per person like in some South American countries. But of course big corporations won’t make money and so government won’t be happy.

@@soulsharts 45 minutes from me to the Michigan border where recreational is legal up to 2 1/2 0Z. Too bad for Wisconsin I have to drive and spend my Wisconsin money in Michigan. I'd rather see my money stay locally to support local people, but I think we will be to last to see that happen. As long as I don't bring any back I can have as much fun as I want up there. Wisconsin added 17 drug dogs as soon as Michigan became legal to patrol the border. Anyone who says it's not about the money is blind

Its shameful that we have lawyers working beside researchers, clinicians, patients to allow them to source new and helpful medicines. In Canada, medical cannabis has been legal federally for 20 years and recreational, moving into its second year. A private citizen can grow it in his/her back yard, a private citizen can carry 35 grams of cannabis in their pocket, a Canadian citizen can fly back and forth across the country with a bag of weed in their carry-on without fear of persecution. Most importantly, a Canadian can smoke it, ingest it, drink it, whatever, for their medical need or recreational desire without the police, lawyers or judges involved. Regulation just puts money in the wrong pockets. Instead of paying this lawyer who is speaking to "navigate the laws" money should be going into research and bringing new medications to those who will benefit. Regulation and policy sometimes don't make sense, only to those who stand to profit, is where it does.

"Legalization and regulation" was the wrong path to pursue. And I say that as an enthusiastic cannabis user. This will definitely lead to Big Cannabis - and would have regardless of what path this legalization happened on. And if we know anything from Big Tobacco or Big Alcohol they will find ways to make the substance more dependency-forming and more destructive to lives.
Decriminalization is a better path. Make possesion of small quantities legal for adults. Keep large scale production and distribution illegal but deprioritize enforcement and make the penalties much less stiff. You will alleviate the worst excesses of the drug war. It will deflate the price, making it a less lucrative and less violent market. And it will keep massive amounts of capital from flowing into research on how to get people hooked on cannabis and keep them coming back.
If you want to keep your drugs safe, keep them in the hands of drug dealers. Not capitalists.

It is not we, it is specifically those in government who are using regulatory fees and licenses to provide the wealthy a protection from competition by those who cannot afford the Fees and licenses. Those in government benefit into ways. 1. the increase revenue to the State and 2. they protect the wealthy special interests who end of dominating the growing and distribution.

    Awesome speech.
We can't allow the 'powers that be' to capitalize Cannabis. This is not their choice, we are supposed to be living in a democracy. We, the people, elevated these governments to their positions.. in order to look after our best interests. When they start to put profit over the economy, environment and public health.. we have to raise our voices and be heard.
If they give the UK a referendum to determine the 'will of the people' over our fate in the EU. Then we should have a peoples vote as to the legislation governing this natural plant. A plant that belongs to all of amus as homosapians, it has been demonized and prohibited for too long.

Listening to all the arguments for and against just sound like they are talking about alcohol which can also be addictive and destroy lives.
There is one big difference between weed and alcohol and those are to do with mental health and although weed isn't really as addictive as alcohol, it sure can
lead to very high mental health issues especially when talking about super strength skunk weed.
Having used both for many years, just let people grow their own if they want to, it's not as strong, does relax you and kill some pain but unlike alcohol, when you smoke
too much you don't pass out and mostly people can still understand what you say.
But why are people so worried about the health aspects? Most things, taken to excess are bad for you but alcohol leads to far more family break down and days off work.
If the FDA is so concerned over peoples health then why is Round-Up pesticide still used and for sale, that is far more deadly to human health just like many GM foods,
and just wait and see what will be the consequences of using the CrispR technology and what may result from that.

I notice as I am aging I can see some of the benefits that marijuana can provides for relief for medical reasons. On the flip side, I have also seen the destruction it does to some people and their social skills. Work, attitude, and motivation to get the things done you need to do in order to be successful in life. Pot can hurt parents and others when their children have no ambition. It’s very painful and concerning. (Not to mention their judgement at that time. Teenage pregnancy.)
I’m actually for it. I think people should have free will but, I agree, “What are there side effects?” What will be the real price??? Big pharmaceutical company gets the money again? Who will win and who will lose??? It’s our children. Peace ✌️

+ArV!nD BoB Big Pharma. They have a lot of money and a lot invested in people using their products. If Cannabis is legalized, there is potential for them to lose money, or lose potential revenue. Even companies like Anheuser Bush make their money on a recreational substance, alcohol. They may lose money if people begin using Cannabis instead of alcohol for their recreational activities. If money can be a factor, it is. You could bet your house on there being lobbyists fighting for and manipulating government employees to keep Cannabis illegal. That doesn't mean they will win that fight, but they are fighting it.
