this game is not released yet but no rest for the wicked will probably take a well deserved spot in the top 5. also death's door is super good. but maybe this game is less diablo like due to no skill trees or gear
There will be part 2 for this series later, and yes that game is one of the promising titles.
I don't mind pixel games, but most of them don't allow you to change armor, you're stuck with the same look for the whole game.

Achilles legends untold - also not bad.
ARPG is one of my favourite genre, I really hope it can flourish with more worthy opponents against Diablo 4 but after playing D4, I find myself can't stand the stiff and clunky animation of 99% of ARPG in the market. The graphic, atmosphere, combat and sound effect of D4 is the king of its genre. Not to mention many of your recommendations have pixels graphic from 20 years ago.
You meant more worthy opponents against Path of Exile that basically eats the whole scene and now with PoE2 it will do it again?

Not a fan of cartoony art styles, or 16bit graphics in gaming. Spent way too much money on a graphics cards for those titles. Please make my graphics card catch fire. An abundance of choice benefits gamers, though, so that's cool.
geeez more than half of the list are pixel art. devs nowadays banking so much on "its not about the graphics its about the gameplay/story"... nope its about being lazy and pretending its about something else. zzzz...zzz.z
Dude it's not about laziness. Quite the opposite. These indie teams might be completely self funded or even be a 'one person team' whom still has to pull a 9-5 main job. Compare this to a fully funded multi departmental team where each member might only work on the game 4-6 hours a day and be paid a wage no matter if the game is a success or not (most AAA titles).
