I hope more devs make some RPGs that aren’t souls-likes bc that market is getting super saturated and a little stale
but the hypocrites who hate ubisoft titles for being same like farcry and assassins creed all buy souls clones on day1
@@yt_hatesfreespeechsouls games are actually good, far cry and assassins are copy and paste, uninspired pig slop
I never played souls game, I'm tired of every game approaching that system
I'm with you, so tired of all the souls like games.
Build you favourite char... roll and hit, roll and hit.. roll and and hit..so fun
For a video about 2024 RPG’s, a lot of these titles don’t have release dates/have very little chance of releasing in 2024
Most likely. What I do like from this vid is showing me those games that I didn’t even know existed and will now look into following their coverage
@@Shocknfunk sure, but at that point you might as well title it upcoming RPG’s to look out for or something
And they skipped a bunch of games that do have a 2024 release window.
As usual with these "upcoming 20XX" videos
Terrible list! Most of them wernt even RPG's. I s a souls like game actually an rpg, not really lets be honest....
The original Dragon's Dogma is one of my all-time favourite games. It's unlike any other game out there! So happy that we finally get to play the sequel!
Yes, what a pleasant adventure it was. Dragon's Dogma 2 is easily my most awaited game and probably GOTY 2024.
@@gulanhem9495 I know it'll be MY goty 2024!!!
@@renamoda5450
Cool! 🥰
Dragon's Dogma has always been an underrated game with no name recognition or fame. This game will need to make an effort to attract new users. The world is in a situation where gambling-like MMO games and Soul-like games that spin gacha are easy to sell.
@@user-pb3yv5uw5m
But Dragon's Dogma isn't like that right, a gambling-like or gacha-like game?
Every time an action rpg set in the East gets announced:
“Wow this is literally ghost of Tsushima/ Sekiro!!!!”
Also everything with melee action combat is a Soulslike, whether it has respawning enemies or not.
well they were the most popular games set in east
They legit all look reallly similar.
No one has EVER said "this is LITERALLY Ghost of Tsushima / Sekiro". People just compare it to these games because they are well known and give you an idea of what to expect.
you dont see the similarities? they look almost identical at times
RPGs are my favorite genre of videogames and honestly idk about the rest of y'all but I genuinely don't think I've ever been this excited for so many (seemingly) great rpgs to come out in a year, I get goosebumps every time I remember hey we're actually getting Dragon's Dogma 2, FF7 Rebirth, more Yakuza, more Team Ninja, etc. Super stoked for the majority of these
I love rpg's as well, but personally I found this list to be kinda weak. The only ones I find remotely interesting was Gothic remake, Witcher remake, Dragon's Dogma 2, Persona 3 and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Except that every game qualifies as an RPG because people are stupid and have problems properly categorizing.
Really? I saw this list and found myself insanely disappointed.
There are too many remakes. I think it's great, but as someone that's already played the games I don't really want to buy and play them again. And it's not something new or unique, nothing to get excited about about
Just a couple of games that look good, just gotta see how things actually turn out.
I just picked up dragons dogma, very impressive for an older game I'm looking forward to part 2
Yeah and in my opinion the biggest problem of dragons dogma is the lack of content (empty world, too fast main story), the director Hideaki Itsuno told that they cut like 60% of the first game. Now we have something that the director looks really proud to deliver, i have great hope that this game will be an amazing experience.
Yes, it’s fun. I have like 400 hours in and I’m still playing daily.
@@jiufeng8454250 hours and I still haven’t beat bitter black isle
Lol it's not THAT good of a game@@jiufeng8454
Same trying to platinum it before the next one comes out
Witcher , Gothic, Dragon Dogma , Dragon Age Is my top 4 can't wait.
More new RPG's coming out in the near future:
Granblue Fantasy: Relink, TLoH: Trails through Daybreak, Ys X: Nordics, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, GreedFall 2
Last Epoch 1.0, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, Outcast: A New Beginning, Enotria: The Last Song, Titan Quest II, The Awakener: Risen,
Crown Wars: The Black Prince, Forsaken Realms: Vahrin's Call, Morbid: The Lords of Ire, Clockwork Revolution, Crimson Desert, New Arc Line
Deathbound, The Thaumaturge, Zoria: Age of Shattering, Broken Roads, Unforetold: Witchstone, Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes.
Crimson Desert is Delayed to 2025
@@death5talker45 Now i am sad.
@@death5talker45 really? fvck
Eiyuden Chronicle you uncultured swine
surprised that Granblue Fantasy: Relink wasn't on this list
Or Crimson Desert
I feel like everyone forgets that Metaphor: ReFantazio is also releasing this year. It looks amazing!
I was surprised to not see that game on the list, considering they ranked Persona 3 Reload so high on it.
lmao we don't care
@@_bakz_3682 Please explain why the Persona 3 remake is on that list then. I can tell that logic is not your strong point lmao
@@_bakz_3682 you might not, others do. So not listing it at all doesn’t help those who don’t know about it. And for you who doesn’t, you can stfu.
@@ripleynosgoth true
I really hope they finally release Crimson Desert as well!
The release date is delayed to Q2 2024-Q2 2025 (leaked by reddit from insider investor, just search it in google cause youtube doesnt like link)
and my prediction is the game will be launched in 2024, because GTA VI is released in 2025 it'd extremely challenging for them to compete, but if it's in 2025 it'd be before GTA VI.
and yes, i do hope the game will come out this year as well
I'm more excited for crimson desert than any of these.
Really? was the other one good
@samuelbankston2108 Tried playing the mobile version on a good phone and found it to be sluggish. This entry though is hotly anticipated by me and a few friends
Cant wait for Infinite Wealth
Yakuza Like a dragon, despite being their first venture into a game like that shot directly to the top spot of my best turn based JRPGs ever made
Gothic 1 Remake, Phantom Blade and Rebirth is by far my most favorite games on this list.
Gothic 1 remake, you have an excellent taste in games.
You forgot dragon's Dogma 2 I got you though
Gothic 2 was my entry, incredible, 3 was good didnt finish though. Not sure what this oversized glamorous gothic 1 remake will bring exactly demo was too bugged. This dogma 2 looks like some filler type stuff too much flashy to otherwise static stuff. Witcher 3 was shit I'd say almost anything bold would beat that crap. Rebirth looks like its gonna be great, waiting for it to hit pc but buy/play remake a few months before.
@@gibbleway Trust me on this. Dogma 1 was not just all flash. Was a very interesting game when it came to world, not so much actual main story. Game mechanics are pretty unique for open world RPGs too. Dogma 2 seems to double down on that. Check it out, you won't regret it.
@@NinesIng seems to be somewhat tighter of a game as far as mechanics, couldn't find much comment or review or story...probably good for a younger guy probably won't bother. We'll see on the sequel
Metaphor ReFantazio is my most anticipated RPG for this year. I am surprised it is not on the list.
I never heard of it will check it out now.
@@blokin5039 looks like a more dark & mature version of Persona 5
true , bro faded this so hard . im 100% sure this will take goty , just like how ppl laugh at me when i said baldur 3 taking goty last year
@@hanhan9487 who laughed at BG3 winning GOTY? Wasnt that the most likely outcome?
To anybody else who freaked out for a second like me, it looks like Dokev will also be releasing on the new consoles and not just PC.
One that I was hoping you would mention is Last Epoch. This is releasing in its full version near the end of February. What makes it special is the complexity level fall right in between the insanely complicated PoE and the very simple fun of Diablo 4. So, many in the Diablo style ARPG community are excited about it. It also recently released its plans to handle balancing the game for trading vs. not trading and it is so amazing sounding that it is making a lot of waves.
but there wouldn't be place for games that definitely not release this year xD
@@Huberpartad hahaha very true :)
Did they fix horrible models/animations and boring drop loot yet?
I have Last Epoch but its not fully released right?
@@TheRPGUA-camr Correct. It is fully releasing near the end of February.
I wonder how many of the people who worked on New Vegas are still at Obsidian.
Sweet fck all
Bethesda and Obsidian no need rivalry anymore... They both belong Microsoft now and if they ever gonna make new Fallout New Vegas like game they should work together...
@@Yuriq4 And they both make garbage games now. Bugthesda has already shown it with Bugfield last year.
Sadly I agree... Another huge disaster was Redfall. Obsidian's Outer Worlds was kind of meh. @@thomasnielsen5580
You mentioned "Dragon Quest XII" as a bonus game and I almost squealed like a child getting his favorite toy! Dragon Quest games tend to be long, imaginative stories. Wish you had a release date, but at least I know to be on the lookout for it!
Don’t know why he mentioned that, he’s a lazy trash game “journalist” who ALWAYS gets things wrong. We have no info on Dragon Quest other than the reveal teaser trailer and the director confirming that they are going for a mature story like FF XVI.
@@hakangokhan9434 Yeah, I followed up with my own quick search and found a lot of nothing. This channel does it a lot. "Here's part of a story. We put links down below. Do your own research." Thanks. Why am I subscribed?!
Theres little to no chance DQ12 drops this year
i'm really looking forward to it, but couldn't find a release date anywhere. The devs probably don't even know yet.

2024 is also going to be a big backlog year for me. I just started GreedFall gold edition for the first time and I’m loving it so far. So many great games came out in 2023 that I’m waiting for sales and enjoying the backlog.
Oh man greedfall is an amazing game I hope they continue the story
I just replayed gothic 1 last year again. Looking forward to the remake, I hope they stay faithful because my god it's such a gem.
Yeah, It's a real shame that Pirahna Bytes is closing. For whatever reason they just weren't able to keep up with current gaming development.
real gem is Gothic 2 Night of raven, now that if we got a proper remake would be a gem that we don't even deserve
@@skiddzjust1389 Ye ofc Gothic 2 and night of the raven are great too.
Dragon's Dogma 2, Persona 3 Reload, Black Myth Wukong, Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth, Fable and Avowed. Can't wait to play all these games in 2024!
👍🏼
👍🏻
I grew up in the era of Gothic 1 and Vampire the Masquerade those are my absolute favorites
Never played Gothic. Will definitely try. But I've obsessed about VTMB for a long time.
No Eiyuden Chronicles, tear
Dragon's Dogma and Crimson Desert are my most anticipated games...can't wait!
Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak is the one I'm most excited for, and it didn't even make the list? Then there's Granblue Fantasy: Relink, which has some hype behind it as well.
Well, Trails through Daybreak technically isn't a new game, since it released in 2021 in Japan
I'm not even surprised. They probably don't know about the Trails series and that's ok. But also no Visions of Mana, Eiyuden Chronicle, Metaphor Re Fantazio, Decapolice, SaGa Emerald Beyond, etc. Those are some games with actual 2024 release window or release date announced.
Mass Effect fans rejoice. It's not releasing this year (probably not even next year), but I'm super excited for EXODUS by Archetype Entertainment. If you're in to Sci-Fi RPGs with major decision elements, this is definitely a game to keep on your radar.
I feel like black myth should’ve been at no1, we’ve been waiting for years and everything we’ve seen so far is just unbelievable. I hope it lives to the expectations
Chrono Odyssey is giving me some BDO vibes. Great visual fidelity, combat being a bit more focused on the hack n slash side, the world-type bosses it seems to be going after. Definitely interested in checking it out when drops.
It's an MMO so it definitely would be similar because of that aspect. Tbh it and POE2 don't belong on this list because they are both essentially MMOs
Excited for Dragon Dogma 2 Crimdon Desert and GBF Relink, cautiously optimistic for DA Dreadwolf and Wukong, and want to see what project mugen bring
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon which is in early access at the moment, kinda elder scrolls style. As long as they optimize it well, it should be pretty good.
I honestly can't wait for dragon age dreadwolf. I'm still playing the dragon age series. Recently started playing them all again. Some of my favourite games
Palworld has been more than what I expected, hope to see a vid about it soon
It's good I got over 20 pals and I best the first syndicate
gothic 1 brings back so many memories :')
I am really excited to hear that there will be a remake.
don't be, contrary to what the video claims, what we've seen so far is the opposite of faithful
Edit: I might out of date with that claim, will have to do more research
:(@@nightomrainheart
@@nightomrainheart tell me why?
@@nightomrainheart I think you're a little out of date with that. The playable got completely thrown away and according to some people that really know and love Gothic it is very faithful now.
@@SeliasSonne hey thank you for the update, I'll check it out, I must have missed the news
But unless the English accents are gone I'm not sure I'll have higher hopes
Should have named this TBA games of the next few years.
Every list I see, nobody is talking about Granblue Fantasy Relink coming out in only a couple of weeks! Amazing single player AND 4 person co-op action RPG. Stunning visuals, beautiful soundtrack, you don't even need to know the Granblue lore from the original mobile game since this is an isolated story unique to this game. It was announced years ago and has been steadily looking better and better with every new trailer and gameplay reveal. The demo is even out now for those wanting a taste of the story and multiplayer missions!
I like how the BONUS game mentioned for 15 seconds is the number 2 top played game on Steam of all time haha
Was searching for this comment
This really helps me whittle my wishlist down. I can scratch off anything MMO, online or first person.
That's not to disparage those kinds of games, I just can't get into them. I really tried with Cyberpunk but it just wasn't working for me. I hate my brain sometimes.
I’m right there with you. I can handle some 1st person, but I’m not a fan at all with anything MMO, PvP, or Online.
I mostly feel the same. except I’m ok with 1st person games like Skyrim.
@majorgear1021 I play Skyrim and Fallout in 3rd person. It looks a little janky, but it's the only way I can play it.
I was excited for "Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth" till i heard they are charging $15 for NG+ because its locked behind the Deluxe edition of the game.
I think they took the sub title of the game to literally..... we're not rich devs..... we're not rich 😮💨😭
I haven't played the original Gothic but the remake has been on my radar for awhile now, can't wait to see more!
Can’t believe dragon dogma beat FF7R. It’s been first on all the list so far
You mention PoE 2 but nothing about Last Epoch? To anyone interested in this genre, I STRONGLY recommend checking it out. It fully releases within a month or so(can't remember the exact date) and imo, this title is this genre's breath of fresh air. EHG has had this in Early Access for a while now and they have struck the perfect balance of build creation. Plus, regardless of your opinions on open trade, this game caters to you.
Years of experience have taught us not to get too excited before the actual game is released.
*some of us. People still purchased "the Day Before." People still pre-order for whatever reason. Companies still make garbage because people buy it anyway. At least there's 5 of us out there!😅
I did a shot every time you said “a long time”…I’m hammered.😂
Love how you put what device each game is on. So many do not do that.
Really great list. Personally looking forward to many of the RPGs included here. 2024 is absolutely stacked when it comes to new RPG releases. Very excited for what's to come later this year!
Black Myth Wukong looks so cool. My most anticipated game of the year.
Super excited for Greedfall 2, I'm glad you mentioned it at the end!
at 0:06 through 0:07 there is something freaking out near the gate for like a split second
DokeV looks pretty interesting, looking forward to play that game
Love the list, hate the video title xD Most games on this list have no release date, some have a window, but that's it. I am surprised that there are a couple that I didn't know about, so thanks for that! I'm excited for Enshrouded that's coming in a couple of days, expected that one to be on this list too tbh
As someone who doesn't know anything about Gothic 1 I'd like to know what exactly makes it unique? What is it about? What's the gameplay? What do you actually DO in it?
This year is a strong year for Jrpg's and I can't wait
👍🏼
There are plenty of exciting RPG's coming, but for me, the Witcher remake is the one I'm most pumped for. I can't wait to dive back into that world with some high def graphics and hopefully improved game systems.
One of the most over rated games ever.
witcher one wasn't that hyped up why people are happy for a remake@@Cryaboutmyhandle
@@Cryaboutmyhandle objectively wrong take

@@Cryaboutmyhandle is it really overated when both critics and gamers love the game? not even that youtubers as well. For you it may be overated but its objectively not. There is literaly nothing you can say to prove your point lol. love to see you try and laugh
Getting back to my roots of gaming. These RPGs just jolted me back into it.
Getting kinda flooded with Dodge , Dodge, Counter games lately. Im hoping new mechanics are going to show up soon
The year is looking good!
If anything bad happens, it's on you, you raise the flag
It does, but I have to say 2023 set the bar real high.
I can only hope the sequel to Bloodlines can do something incredible like BG3 did.
They started over from scratch. They said dont expect it for quite some time.
It's been through the epitome of development hell. The Chinese Room are good (the studio has taken over dev) but they're not Larian. BG 3 had a stable development after many previous successes in the genre, super lengthy early access and great communication with the community.
Plenty of games that could teach Bethesda a lot of valuable lessons. Hopefully they are interested to learn from the best out there.
👍🏼
Masquerade and Dragon's Dogma look cool. I would check them out when they come out. Also the kids game looks interesting.
Maybe also Nightingale and the gun Pokemon game.
How is Grandblue Fantasy Relink not on this list?
yea that was my thought, its out in like less then 2 weeks
Seriously! Huge L to miss Granblue
Bc 2026 games matter more 😂😂
chill guys....grandblue is well known while the game being listed on this video is... I don't think it's well known for gamers at least we have a game higher anticipated than these list
@@dielog2211 not sure about it being well known in the sense that these others wouldnt be, i dont even know anyone else in real life who knows what granblue is tbh.
In times like this, I hate being part of the working class lol. I'd be so lucky if I'll ever have the time to play 3 of the games on this list. Was only able to play the first Dragon's Dogma for 200+ hours when the pandemic started because everything shut down lol.
Most excited about Avowed and Dragon’s Dogma 2, also really intrigued by Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2.
Im so excited for Dragons Dogma 2. The first was completely overshadowed by Skyrim and its finally getting more attention plus 2 looks incredible..
This is probably a dumb question but does Gameranx have a game release calendar? Or maybe a newsletter? I'd love to see one!

So many games to try on this list!! Can’t wait! Thanks Jake
On the surface, Avowed reminds me very much of Greedfall.
You getting it on launch day?
Was thinking "where is Dragons dogma 2?"". You got it right. :)
That was the only one he was sure that's coming out in 2024 lol.
Should I go and play the first one? It's on sale for 4.79. An old game doesn't bother me, as long as it's not a clunker. I played DS2 a couple months ago, and it didn't bother me in the slightest.
i like that there are more games based on non-western mythos. it would be nice to see developers expand into more cultures and mythos, e.g. southeast asian, african, mesoamerica, etc. seems like an opportunity for those looking.
If only it wasn't just a setting gimmick to differentiate the next iteration of regurgitated Soulslike formula, since apparently developers have forgotten what innovation is, and have just decided slapping Soulslike mechanics over a new setting makes a good new game.
A lot of amazing stuff is here and of course my favorites one is Dragon's Dogma 2!
I got witcher 2 somewhere for a couple bucks, played it, really enjoyed it, then witcher 3 released like two weeks later and i became obsessed. I still play through the witcher 3 main story about once a year. I feel like im seeing old friends when i play, get happy when i get everyone back together, and still get really sad after the battle of Kaer Morhen, then sad again after the story ends.
I feel like you missed a couple, but otherwise not many are known to play anime games (except for persona). So the game you missed was Grandblue Relink
Yea hthe ydefinitel ymissed a coupl eas we hav ethe PC version of Horizon Forbidden West coming as well. I know it's out on Playstation but PC gets it soon.
He also missed Greedfall 2
I loved the original vampire masquerade highly recommended it for new people to VR can’t wait for bloodlines 2
Yeah, the first Bloodlines was great. Sadly, I don't get any Bloodlines vibes out of the material we have seen from the current developer yet.
@@mrm7058 ye it looks to me like BL2 is actually before the original

Another great year for gamers I think. So glad Dragon's Dogma 2 was at number 1. A great list, thanks Gameranx
I am so friggin excited for Crimson Desert. That trailer absolutely blew me away.

there's so many games I'm excited for this year.
Dragon's Dogma 2
GreedFall 2
Black Myth: Wukong
Gothic Remake
Steller Blade
Avowed
Dragon Age Dread Wolf
Bloodlines 2
Dragon's Dogma was my favorite game ever for over a decade (I have it in all 3 platforms I use, Xbox, PS and PC), even after playing other games I also loved and got obsessed with like The Witcher 3, Skyrim, Elden Ring, etc. It was only dethroned recently by Baldur's Gate 3, so needless to say I am beyond excited for Dragon's Dogma 2, cannot wait.
Nioh 2 is hands down my favourite souls like, followed closely by Elden ring, and actually Strangers of Paradise. And I've always thought, what if we took Nioh 2, put it in a big open world, and allowed you to move around it like Sekiro, and that's exactly what Rise of the Ronin looks like. Team Ninja just does things so well, and even if the stories may not be all there to alot of people, their gameplay is always top notch. Hell the only reason you can sit through Strangers of Paradise is because of that awesome gameplay
Nioh is so good its peoples favourite souls-like without being a souls-like, hows that for an endorsement
The only thing that sucks about Rise of the Ronin is that it comes out the same day as Dragon's Dogma 2. I really want to play it but it will have to wait.
@@Zekegedd On the bright side you might end up getting the other game a bit cheaper, $70 per game is steep.
I’d love a Vagrant Story remake.
👍🏼
2024 gonna be an amazing year for gaming.
I've only seen videos but Palworld is killing it right now.
Palworld is Out In Early Access Now
Sure are a lot of games getting on the Souls-like train.
Looking forward for Avowed and Dragons Dogma 2. I am worried about Bloodlines 2, because what "The Chinese Room" has shown so far doesn't feel like "Bloodlines" to me. I'am missing Exodus and Crimson Desert in this list.
Yeah unfortunately it sounds like Bloodlines 2 has had a number of issues during its development, so while I hope it's good, I'm definitely waiting until release to see how I feel about it
I'm probably one of the very few people who have 10+ runs of Witcher 1 long before Witcher 3 came out and the franchise became popular. I can't wait for the remake to sink my teeth in once more after over a decade.
In the future, it would be good to write under each game what engine it was developed with.
Yep. And list SP , MP , MMO , subscription, f2p….the important details!
Awesome list! Thanks for always inspiring me guys!

If the Gothic remake gets done well I can die happy. Can't stretch enough how badly I want this Game
The Xbox Developer Direct showcased games releasing in fall and winter 2024. Fable is not showcased so I think it will be delayed to 2025.
I hope that it gets cancelled. It doesn’t look good.
@@majorgear1021 lol we havnt seen anything much of it. such a weird take
Super hyped for Avowed. If it's anything close to the outer worlds or Fallout NV it's gonna be an instant classic.
I’m cautiously hopeful for it, too.

@@majorgear1021 For sure, after Redfall I am quite concerned but honestly it was a game that they or their fanbase didn't want and Avowed seems like a true return to form ,fingers crossed.

Witcher remake is supposed to come out after Witcher 4, so it´s for sure not a 2024 release.
I really hope I get some banana tiger.
"20 new rpgs of 2024, or 2025, or 2026 or actually we don't know when most of these come"
You guys should run a poll to see which is the most anticipated game, mine is FF7 Rebirth 👌
Why do games these days look like they all could be in the same universe?
Because they are all made in the same engine
The floaty hair really puts me off. The dudes in these games all look emo to me.
I second the it's because they are all in the same engine comment. Plus, there is probably, no definitely, a lack of artistic vision nowadays. Gotta chase that bottom dollar!
because thats what sell
Unreal engine
The First Berserker: Khazan looks soooooo good. Love to see a game that's leaning into gritty, stylistic combat. Gaming has been needing a nice, violent hack and slash for a while! Kinda reminds me of Darksiders, and I'm all for it!
Doesn’t really look like it going to be hack and slash but souls-like gameplay
Dark souls is a hack and slash dungeon crawler. XD@@mustacheisland9117
For now I’m planning to buy dragons dogma and nightingale the rest I’ll wait for a price drop.
I hope they keep the Witcher 1 soundtrack. I loved some of that music because of how relaxing it was.
Love to see Dragons Dogma 2 at number 1. The first game is one of the best action RPGs ever made, with a combat system that even to this day is flawless. But there were a lot of games on here that look amazing, never heard of half them.
The gameplay looks like shit tbh
It's gonna be interesting to see if Baldur's Gate 3 any effect on how future RPGs are developed. Thank you, Jake and GR Crew. ❤
🤝
It won't. Developers were already telling people not to expect that kind of game from anyone else.
Considering how Witcher 3 had next to zero impact on how future RPGs were developed (not even CDPR's own Cyberpunk), chances are BG3 won't have any impact on how future RPGs are developed either, especially considering BG3 - while successful - is nowhere near as successful as Witcher 3 was.
If creators take note our quality of life will improve. 🙏
Well i sure as hell hope they don't all copy the top down turn based combat trope, few things are more tedious than that.
