Just saw the news of the passing of Jo - el due to a heart attack after performing. My heart is broken. The legacy he left behind, and what he did for Cajun and country music will never be forgotten. Godspeed Jo - el.
Rock In Peace - Jo-el, Clifton, BooZoo, Ray Abshire, Nathan Abshire, Buckwheat Zydeco, DL Menard, and Beau Jeaque all want to come join them for a jam session.
This is the man at the top of his game! Nashville was not his top. Right here among his people, singing and playing for them while they dance . . . THAT was his top. This live performace is the absolute best, most lively version of this well known song. This band accompanying him added excitement. Perfection!
That is My amazing Wonderful Father-In-Law right there! I sure am Lucky to have him in my life. And he was Just nominated for a Grammy in the Best Regional Roots Music Category. We are all so excited. He put's his heart and soul into every piece of music he Writes, Sings and Plays. He truly deserves this nomination!
Opelousas child here, proud of my cajun heritage and love the music , reminds me of my younger days, crawl fish on the picnic tables was good times for sho .
A descendant of Acadians dating back in ancestry to Port-Royal, Nova Scotia (1642), I can understand why it is my most lively and favorite UA-cam playlist... sincere thanks!😅😅
Cajun Country Tv show. Enjoy Songs . Was on TNN channel. Saw few Cajun one was Doug Kershaw. Back 1989. At Tennessean State Fair. One year went to Tennessee state Fair was so much Fun. Jimmy Newman , and Father and daughter. Got on video .
Man, can that guy jam or what !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stormi Sonnier, you sure are lucky to have such a talented man in your life!!!!
La musique cajun est vraiment merveilleuse ! J'adore cette musique-là ! Meilleures salutations de France ! Vive le peuple acadien ! Cajun music is really great and awesome! Best greetings from Paris, France. Long live the Acadian (Cajun) People!
Keep on coming back to watch this band....they have....charisma...Ok, its the real deal with Jo-El. This stripped down version is him at his very best. Very impressive. Once Nashville took over, the posse in charge at the time burdened him with "The Nashville Sound'. Still he has the fire....
Now this guy has lots of stage presence! Not just great music, he's a real showman, as is everyone else in the band. Not that the people in front were noticing, they were too busy dancing. And if anyone else was there and NOT dancing . . . well, how can you not dance to this? Lassiez les bon temps rouler!
I could hardly believe my own ears when Jo-El hit the country chart with "Tear Stained Letter" so many years ago and his music still hits me like a drum stick.
The South went through it. Nowhere in the South is Louisiane. If you lived here instead of where it is that you do, you'd know. We have our own language, culture, music. And we don't need yours. What does Ohio have? Or Kansas? Or anywhere else in the United States. White bread and boredom. We have Alligators and Jo-El, Cajun French, etuffe, jambalaya, gumbo. We eat life. You? Life eats you out there in America.
Jo-El does the best "ES", ever! Will wake the dead, and make 'em get up and two-step, "Ah gar-onn-tee!" :-D Great post! I got to thinking about "the music", since I'm exiled here in Arizona (what?) for a while --- I'm actually from Houston, but I'm used to a lot more Cajun culture around than you are likely to get here in the desert *chuckle!*. All is not lost, though --- the other day, I found a meat-market (Schreiner's) in Phoenix that has *andouille sausage*! :-D Red beans and rice, aw-huh!
Hello Stormi, I stumbled on your Father-In-Law about two years ago later in my life. I've never seeing anyone perform as well as he. He is truly the best! May God Bless him and all his family members. Denny Newville (82ND Airborne/XVIII Airborne Corp.)

Hé-y-yaille, Lui l’à venu, m’voulu cher
pour m’demander d’me dire pardons, il connais il avait mal fait
Solo
Hey ‘tite fille, rappelle toi moi j’connais
Moi j’après te dire asteure, la parole j’voulais pas t’dire
Hé-y-yaille, si tu m’aime mais blâme moi pas
Si les autres t’après donner, les conseils écoute les pas!
