Man, those Vette's are going to take some getting used to after years of thunder. They seem so much quieter. They used to drown out just about everything aside from the Porsche's.
@Chase Cavalier the Porsche is still the loudest of the bunch by far though. It's just weird, watching videos and having the Vette come by, expecting that rumble. Like I said, going to take some getting used to.
Yeah, sadly there's no american cars in IMSA anymore. A reason not to watch this sissy series anymore. I'll just watch old 1980's and early 1990's IMSA. And Rolex Sports Cars.
I don’t know what happened to it. Porsche has posted numerous videos about these new RSR’s that they’ve been using in the WEC for a few races now. And they sounded even better than the last ones. Is it just the IMSA spec that doesn’t sound right for some reason? 🤔
@@evann5451 I dunno, I watched the last WEC race and the cars were loud but they sounded pretty "flat" to me. Just the nature of the side-exit exhaust I guess. Maybe the IMSA cars are muffled more? I don't think I've seen the videos from Porsche though.
My man, Lanky with the goods!! The Vette's do sound different, and quieter. No more thunder. But, change is good so we'll see how the new car works out. Also, the C8.R night lights set up looks like it'll be fantastic! The new generation RSR's are also singing a different tune. A bit muted, and perhaps a lower note than before, thanks to the new diffuser making the exhaust move to the sides. But, it seems that the RSR's scream still lives on in the privateer Porsche's, so that's good! The Cadillac's are still making glorious noises though!
@@jimbojones1848 I attended the F1 races at Silverstone in 94 & 95. Customer V8s, Works V8s, V10s & V12s (two makes). It really was a great period for Engines. Less said about this period in F1 the better.
jimbo jones well f1 has gotten boring with the new engine switch, but manufacturers are no longer putting money in big NA engines so we have to move on. These people about this new corvette though are just hilarious. Not worried about the extra performance, just a noise.
I love gasoline, loud roaring, screaming racing period. It seems that the toning down of the snarl is the gateway to the electric take over of racing. I have no problem with the electric cars using racing to further their technology but not at the expensive of gasoline. Let the gasoline race teams race, and create a league of electric racers. Stop the pussification of gasoline racing.

I would if they were an “Everyman” car but honestly I’ve never seen the latest one on the road and I only have seen a few of the previous version They were nearly purpose built race cars compared to a vette and way too expensive to the public for what they were Not trying to hate on them because they are magnificent machines I’d like to see one pass by on the highway one day

I went to my first race of any series at VIR last year and I was absolutely blown away. We were standing on pit lane, inches away from the cars within 25 of race start. The fan access is incredible.
I was at Road America for the first time for the IMSA series ever last year. We didn’t get that close to the cars because we didn’t know we could see the cars in pit lane (also we wanted to get a good spot) but I absolutely loved the race. I was at the Indycar race in 2018, but it didn’t compare to this. IMSA races are just an experience of their own
My family was there because it would be our first and only time to see the Ford GT’s in person. They were my favorite cars. And them winning was the cherry on top of that day

Looks like FORD pulled out knowing the C8 was coming this year. Didn't want to be schooled by a 60 thousand dollar chevy. Gotta give GM credit, they have provided a real super car killer for a working man.

The new C8.R sounds quieter than the C7.R because the C7.R had the exhaust exiting under the doors. Looks like the C8.R exhaust is exiting out the rear.
How does Porsche get away with racing a mid engine 911 when it is not a production car?? I thought that the manufacture has to produce a minimum amount of road cars with the same configuration as the intended race car. Anyone have an answer ?
@Dr. Jazz_ y actually you are really stupid XD. Chevy wanted to keep the roudy V8 for such a long time till the regulations of the V8 in the C7.r was being banned for being over powered. Even with restrictor plates being involved

We had so many problems with that shitty flat plane V8. Chevy never used this engine and we personally dont want the vette no more. We rather take a fucking Chevy cruze and make it into a mid engine which we tried going already but Chevy didnt have the funding to continue the Cruze development
I really hope the zo6/zr1 (or whatever other name gets assigned to the high end Corvette) does not sound like that for the street. Fast and powerful I am sure, but it sounds like a G37 with a broken exhaust.
Love the new C8.R! It does give off a bit of an arcady look, which is cool in my book. Can't wait to see how it and the new AMG GT3 perform! The RC F might be a sleeper. For me, it looks the least aggressive, but considering how well it performs in Super GT, I'm expecting surprises out of it. Lastly, M6 is still racing? That's shocking...
And it only took over 50 years, but a mid-engine Corvette is about to enter competition for the first time. Very appropriate to send it through a torture test before putting it on the market.

I think they are using a flat-plane crank in them now. Probably going to debut the motor in the upcoming Z06.

5:15 that’s a .5 second penalty on GT Sport and if you’re luck it will be a full 5 second penalty. 😂😂😂
