Should I make more quick videos like this? With different shapes?

I love all lengths of your videos. The shorter ones are great for showing one phase of the manicure that may be important and show more detail to person who watches it.

Yes, please! Filing is a big deal for us beginners. I would vote for them to even be a bit longer, but this is great.

Yes please! And could you explain if there are reasons why a shape might be preferable for specific nails? (I think you mentioned that oval is flattering for naturally trapezoidal nails?)

This is exactly what I hoped for---shaping the nails can be a challenge especially as you mentioned in this video that even on the same hand, the natural nails can have differences that you need to adjust for.

Yes please, these short videos are great too! Question on nail shapes: do you tailor them exclusively based on the client’s request (if they make one)? If they leave it up to you, what you deem appropriate to the shape of their nail beds? Fingers? Hands? Lifestyle? I read once they should mimic the curvature of the cuticle (what we all now know is the PNF 😜).

My nails are finally getting healthy since I discovered your channel. It’s probably been a couple of months. They were peeling and I took your advice and I did hot oil treatments at home using avocado oil every day because that’s what I had. I stopped polishing and buffing them. I’ve kept them filed short. They are finally starting to get strong and grow. Maybe now I can try polishing them again? Thank you so much!!!

Love this shape. My nails and skin around them are looking so much healthier since I discovered your channel and put your advice into practice. I came across another nail channel and she started cutting the skin around the nail and it made me cringe! I used to do that. Glad I know better now.

I just shaped my nails as per you today! I’ve ordered the cuticle remover and some oils to mix for soaking. I have Mavala from yrs ago and intend to start using that, too. I will be putting a coat of clear on for protection, too. I plan on doing the oil treatment 2 times a weeks to help my nails heal. I need to watch the video again to see how often to use the Mavala. Anyway, as I told you, I’m doing my nails according to Dr. Anna now! Oh! I will take a photo tomorrow! Wish I had thought to take one before I shaped them. In any case, they already “feel” better! Your devotee in San Antonio, Robin🌹

Hello Anna! 🙋🏼‍♀️ It’s funny, because I have been to do manicures only two times in my whole life (I am 43) and every time I thought, that she was filing the nails wrong, because in my eyes they weren’t symmetric to the white edge of the nail. Since I am watching your videos I understand finally why! 😂

Can you make videos on nails where the side walls are problematic
I ask because it was a problem for me for quite some time
I had to really focus on my side walls because I had constant calluses and over grown skin
I realized i was doing these things: over rubbing when i applied my oils
Unconsciously rubbing the side skin while watching a movie, etc
The left hand was much worse than the right.
I use a dotting tool to push back the skim because its much more gentle
At night after applying my urea cream i put on gel finger protectors (they have holes sonmy fingers dont sweat)

I keep my nails oval or almond. I always file a day or two before I remove my polish. The reason is because my nails curve inward a lot and the polish allows for the correct shape. If i reshape the naila unpolished then im never happy with the shape.
My nails grow quickly so i have to reshape every week.

Amazing! I am so happy you mentioned turning the hand around to see if the nail shape was straight. I do my own nails now because every time I'd go to a salon my nails would look like they had been filed slanted. I would grab the file when the manicurist wasn't looking ans file them straight. When she'd catch me she'd say I wasn't looking at my nails correctly 🤷‍♀️🤪

My favourite shape. Great video, thanks! I try to shape mine this way and I have to put a dark coloured facecloth on my thigh, then place my hand on top with nails facing toward my kneecap. It’s the only way I can get even shaping on both sides. One look at me and you I’m NOT a professional!

Why are you filing “underneath” on the sides of the nail? Not understanding that part.

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  2 роки тому +2

I’m going to explain that in more depth. I run the file there to smooth it. So there are no catches that people can pick at. That slightly makes the nails more narrow.

  • @terrirojas

my preferred shape and why I hate getting pro manicures because techs never understand what I mean. Even if I have shaped them myself and say, "keep this shape", they change it. It's very, very rare, like 1 in 5/10 years, that I ever get manicures. Pro pedicures are a little more often, like 1 in 3/5 years.

    • @TheSalonLife

Filing nails back and forth is ok. What matters is the grit. Please check the link in the description box for the reference.
Not filing back and forth seems to be old wives tails. What makes the nail fray is damaged surface.
