It is refreshing to find a nail channel about repairing and perfecting the natural nail. That’s what I’ve always wanted to do. Excited to do more exploring.

Thank you so much! I’m so glad you are enjoying my videos. I absolutely love natural nail care and I try to make it easy, simple and inexpensive. I mean I have some high end stuff that I use but basic care is simple and pretty much anyone can learn it :).

I have become a devoted watcher of The Salon Life. You are an excellent instructor, comprehensive in your approach to nail health, anatomy and physiology, treatment, and management of different issues. I suffered from acute renal failure last year, and my nails became brittle, and were peeling and ragged. I also have wider nailbeds. I followed your instructions, stopped using nail hardener, used Jojoba Oil every time I washed my hands, a nourishing nail cream at night, and learned to shape my nails watching your videos. I also bought the ultrafine diamond nail files you recommended. Six months later, my nails are healthy. I am so appreciative of everything you have taught me. Thank you ❣️❣️❣️

Hi Anna: Could you please show us how you hold the nail file to maintain the correct angle? How do you file the sides of the mail without making it weaker? Lastly, how much pressure are you applying to the nail edge as you file & how do you know if you are pressing too hard on a client’s nails? TYVM

Thank you for confirming that glass/crystal files do not seal your nails. I have used various brands over the last 15 years or so hoping to seal the nail edge to stop them from peeling, they didn't work. I do like this type of file but you and your videos have done so much more for my nails than these pricey files. Your knowledge is astounding 😍

Thank you for this video! I'm trying to get the nails of my middle fingers shaped better since they are extremely wide in comparison to the rest of my nails.
I have been trying to get healthy natural nails for ages now. However my nails just keep tearing of (not really breaking) as soon as they grow a tiny bit too long. I've watched several of your video's now and initially I was really scared to use nail harder since I saw everyone saying it only makes your nails break more easily. But now I think I actually need nail harder. My nails are extremely flexible and almost see through and are really shiny as well. Nail polish (several brands) just falls off. It doesn't chip, I mean the literal whole thing just comes off in one piece within a day most of the times. I've started using Mavala since yesterday. I do have a question though. Since I do have very dry skin around my nails, do I also do hot oil soaks (as in can I combine that with the nail harder).

I love my glass nail files because they give me a good result, are easy to clean and last a long time . I never bought into the hype about them though, just thought they worked great for me.
I use coarser, bigger glass nail files to smooth out the edges of my giant breed dog's nails after clipping, a couple swipes each side does the trick.
Honestly, I think that whatever file works for you is best, for you.

Thank you! I like my nails short as I play guitar. Hearing that filing in one direction and using a glass file have been debunked was helpful. I struggle with shaping as my nails looks longer on one side or another depending which direction I look at them. The cutical oil treatment after each hand wash from your other video also extremely helpful. I hope to see better condition and shape following your advice.

Hi, I’ve just found your page and it’s been really helpful. After about a decade of not doing my nails at all (a handful of trips to the nail salon which damaged my nails each time taking about 3 months to recovered each time) I decided to start taking care of them. I never knew I could ‘fix’ my wide nails.
I wanted to ask, do I have to cut my cuticles? Whenever I’ve had them cut professionally it’s caused the skin to split and peel and it’s quite painful. Can I tidy them up without cutting?
    Many thanks 😊

The only time slight buff is necessary is to remove shine before polish to slightly improve the bond of polish

Hello! I am so happy to have found your channel. I have just started to watch various videos. My nails have never been great. And now they are even more weak and thin after chemo and estrogen blockers. I have been using jojoba oil w each hand washing for a few days and already see a difference! I have ordered Kerasal, and I will use it nightly. I will skip using OPI nail strengthener . I will use the Chanel natural manicure product you suggest instead. Please advice if you have any other suggestions for someone on chemo and an estrogen blocker. Thank you!!

I'd really love to get one of the thin nail files like your Erica Diamond Hand File. Are there any products on the market that do this kind of stainless steel file in a 180 grit on one side and a 220/240 grit on the other? Just started watching your channel and you've helped so much already! Had a terrible nail salon experience a couple days ago and while correcting the manicure at home, used your nail polish removal tip and it worked flawlessly.

Anna, i think I must be missing something. I watched the video, but didn't notice anything different about this "wide nail" mani as any of the others. I have very short nail beds (the distance from the end of my finger to the proximal fold) and wide nails. I was hoping you were going to give some sage wisdom about how to make them look more long and narrow (since i'm sure there is no way to actually change -- i presume it's just genetics, right?)

  • @melodied4314
    @melodied4314 Рік тому

I've been to at least 5 different nails and had dozens of technicians work on my nails -- trying to get this look. So far only one technician has succeeded. Usually my nails have different lengths and shapes. Perhaps I'll show them your finished manicure in hopes they "get it" so I can get the length and shape I want.

Just got my glass fold (180 grit )plus a bottle of blue cross which I'll decant into a small dropper bottle I have a spray bottle of distilled water too for wiping off some..non acetone remover but running short so need alone acetone for acrylics and non acetone for plain laquer I find plain laquer polishes are more hard wearing tgen anything else so use it for work oiling after each wash and during changing varnishes and cutical removal befn pushing back my proximal nail folds to help soften the calcified cutical skin in and around the nail..and I must say all this practice is working well in my favour spending time caring for my hands and nails has given me more confidence and even gone as far as helped my depression and low mood ..once again thank you for your invaluable information and unobtrusive unobtrusive intervention the people you stumble across in passing are normally the ones that you actually need in truth ...thank u to you you both

Hi CR! I’m just doing what I can to help. Sharing how I leaned to shape nails. This is why I have many “watch me work” videos showing how i shape different shape nails.
Everyone wants to learn “tricks” but I found that there are not easy ways and tricks. Learning takes a lot of patience and a lot of practice.
Just like learning to play an instrument. You have to listen to a lot of music to develop an ear and then practice a lot. No one can teach someone the “easy way”. Maybe there is an easy way but as a nail tech of over 25 years I found developing an eye and watching the most effective.
