I love square nails, short or long. I tried rounded nails a few months ago while growing out some peeling damage and HATED it on me. I do soften the corners on my square nails. I would like to see more square and squareish nail tutorials, and would love to hear your thoughts on what makes this shape attractive - or not- on various hand and nail bed shapes.

I love them too….I always had very long roundish nails until the early 1990’s then the shorter square shape became fashionable. I changed mine to shorter and square and have never been able to go back to a rounded shape!!!! I just love the square shape and soften the corners on mine too 😊

I’m enjoying hearing you and MSL together. “See what I have to put up with?” Lol my husband would never let me do a manicure for him. I did my first “Anna” gentle manicure for my daughter yesterday. We are trying to undo the damage from the nail salon for her. She has been commenting how nice my nails are looking, so I am teaching her what I have learned from you! Thank you

You guys are so funny, I enjoy your banter, reminds me of myself and my husband. But also this is still the most practical nail care channel on you tube. It really helps you have pretty nails that you can still live life with. I went from just trying to keep my nails approximately the same length, since I use my hands a lot, to actually doing a nice manicure with long lasting polish, with your help. That makes my nails much stronger, not to mention prettier. Keep it up 🙂

I have ugly, uneven shaped nails looking like guitar nails, they were gross. Thanks for these videos, ive been to nail salons before to try and improve the shape but with no luck, so i assumed it wasn't possible and just genetics, ive been following some of your tips and its already made a huge difference. Will definitely be investing in my nails a bit more following your videos, thanks so much :)

Your videos are so informative and so helpful. After getting a horrible paronychia from a nail salon that ended up needing a minor surgical procedure to fix, I started doing my own nails. I found your channel and never looked back! Your videos are so great because not only do they teach how to do beautiful work, but you teach the science behind how and why things work. That’s my favorite part! Understanding the science is key for healthy nails. Thanks for all the info!💅🏽🌸💗

I love a short, square shape on me with a really flat top, but I'll soften the corners a bit. I guess that may be technically a "scround" or a soft square, possibly, but again, my tops are super flat. (my fingers are unusually long and I like to visually shorten them a bit lol) Never have breakage issues though. I was an aesthetician for over 20 years, but doing manicures on natural nails was my second favourite service next to facials, and I took great pride in them, especially the lovely transformation that was often achieved. I think because I love attention to detail so much. So love your channel and both you!!!!

Could you please do a DIY pedicure & give some tips about what to look out for in salons that only offer wet pedicures? Thank you both for your efforts.

I love my nails when they have a sharp square shape and square-round shape. I do find that my nails are more prone to breakage, depending on how long they are, but this is my preferred shape. I think the mister’s nails would look very nice with his black polish! 💅🏾 😎

I love square nails! I used to wear mine super square for years and they never break. The only issue I had was with the pointy edges, they are like weapons. I changed my shape to more round/almond shape because of that.

I am partial to square nails. Mine are on the longer side, an this shape elongates them. Currently wearing a dark copper with matte top coat, so they look kind of like brown velvet. Perfect as it’s starting to feel like the coming of fall.

I have fan shaped nails and have been over filing the sides to try and narrow them. Im currently transitioning to a super square shape to grow out the sides and am surprised to see my widest nails beginning to look narrower already. I think because the corners are able to take more of a c curve

Sixty (60) years ago I was taught NEVER to saw nails back and forth. I am so trained that I can't even force myself to do it.
I have naturally oval nails. I can only get a square-ISH look, which is actually prettier on me than a extreme square. The worst shape for breaking is very long pointy stiletto nails. I grew my nails super long during the lockdown and experimented with various lengths and shapes. Long natural nails are elegant, but very high maintenance. I have come to prefer my nails shorter, just barely over the top of the finger.
Bare, square nails make a woman's hands look masculine. Square nails look very modern and trendy, but only if they are polished with color polish.

Not my favourite shape, a bit too severe for me, but ut might look better painted. I think it's the unevenness of the white that makes it look odd, but like everything it's personal preference. I still love to watch you work.

I have to admit that I have my nails as square as I can get them. I love square nails on myself. I do not like square on Mr. Salon Life.
I try to like other nail shapes on myself as I know other shapes will work better. Maybe I like square shaped nails because i first got acrylics in the early 1990’s and just never had another shape. Before acrylics, I played serious piano, so didn’t pay any attention to my nails other than to keep them very short. I just dislike them every time I try the different shapes. In fact, I recently broke my index nail and it is a rounded shape now. No idea if is rounded or rounded/oval or in between. I’m horrible at shaping nails. Probably one reason I like square-it’s easier. It is driving me crazy that it doesn’t match the rest, but I did file them all shorter, so they match in length. 😁 I don’t like the shape, though. I’m trying to and did decide to file the one corner off to match the broken corner so as to try to get use to the shape. I may try squoval again in hopes of getting use to it.
Oh, i do most of the filing of my nails with polish on and then finish up after the polish is off. The best way for me to double check the shape is to look at the underside of nails. That way the PNF and uneven whites don’t influence the shape as much.

Hello guys! I sort of came here to confess that my red nail diy manicure took me today 3 hours 😭😭😭 and it doesn't look as pretty as Anna's manicures ofc. Sorry I just didn't know who else I could tell my struggles to 😅
Maybe that could be an idea for a future tutorial. How to red polish/manicure without dying in the attempt 😆😊😘

That would make an awesome title lol! I always suggest starting easy projects and getting good and efficient at them before moving to more difficult things. Was the manicure difficult for you or the polishing?

@@TheSalonLife Hello! 😃 Well I follow Anna's technique and it takes me about 40 to 50 minutes to file and remove cuticles with blue cross. I use mount blue cristal nail file and cuticle stick. Afterwards the polishing takes about 1 hour for clear or soft or easy colors but the red one took an additional hour to clean up the edges. The application wasn't as terrible as it seems but taking those small bits near the proximal nail fold was sooooo nerve wrecking 😭 I guess because my brush isn't appropriate, it's a flat short one without point but that works well for the other colors I thought it would be the same 😅😅😅
Thanks for reading me guys, it makes me feel a lot better 😊
