I'm going to go with.......Wait for it.......Wait for it........Indoors with Mrs. Morgan. I love what you guys do! I wish you all well in these difficult times
New subscriber. I'm 47 and I'm on hospice care for heart disease. I've had heart bypass surgery and 23 stents with 3 arteries completely blocked off. So they feed me enough morphine to make 3 people numb. My dad passed at 38 with a heart attack. My mom was 45 when she passed from a heart attack also. Im made piece with GOD. Thanks for sharing your story on UA-cam it gives me something to look forward to when I get up. God bless
That’s neat you made that Mike, my dad made something like that last year. We had a truck snow plow in the garage but the garage is too small for a truck and it was awkward to get it in there and move it around so he took a good hardwood skid and put caster wheels on the bottom. That pallet with wheels has also had the engine out of my truck on it, and a car hoist. It turned out to be a handy cart that can either be wheeled or carried on the forks.
Mike...if you want the roll around platforms to last , add a thin gauge angle bracket on the outside corners to make it stronger and to keep the screws from cracking the wood out. Great job. Build an extra one to use as a mobile work bench with a vise. Martin
Nice dolly Mike. I built an almost identical one a few years ago for moving heavy items around my yard. I also put 4 swivel casters on all 4 corners. If I were to build another one, I would only use 2 swivel casters and 2 fixed wheels at the other end. If you are moving a heavy object, and the surface in not completely level, it is almost impossible to control. I was moving a heavy item along a sidewalk that had a very slight side slope. The only thing that kept me on the side walk was me continuously crashing into the fence that was beside the side walk.
Nice build on the dolly. Thanks Eva for the music. Of course thanks Melissa for all you do. Melissa have Mike make another so you can put him in and move him to your side.
We've actually made double decker carts to save space. We put the loader attachments (bucket, grapple, forks) on the upper level, which makes connecting them super easy. Then the lower level is for the rear attachments (box blade, splitter, rake, etc.....).
Mike, you should consider adding some embedded nuts and some holes through the bottom of your winch to support it to your custom sled. Or maybe use some ratchet straps and strap it to the sled. Maybe consider making the footprint of the sled slightly larger to increase the stability. Would hate to hear that you had an accident while pushing it around inside your garage by it falling over. Good luck and hope y’all stay safe during these trying times. Love the channel!!!
Norm Abrams used to always build a prototype before doing the one on the actual show. You did a great job with this one. I LOVE your penchant for doing very exacting work. I too am that careful. I like to say, "Strive for perfection, and settle for excellence." If I was designing one I would make my tolerances tight too, but looking back now that you built it, I would have allowed a little more clearance in the pocket, but then again with your exactness in handling heavy duty equipment, it is probably just right.
Greetings Mike & Melissa, Lee here, those dollies are great, so easy to move the accessories around, especially hooking up to 3PTH, no struggling. I made i for the loader, front snow blower, weight box, back blade and front snow plow. real easy to move around the shed.
Mike, if I may make a suggestion, with an implement that tall and heavy, it might serve you well to make the dolly at least a few inches wider so that the wheels are outside the width of the implement on top. This should make it much more stable. Just a thought. Outside of that, I really like it! Well done.
By the way Mike, I used to buy a lot of wood from a saw mill closer by in Lancaster, PA. He had a barn to store it in. The point I wanted to make was that he built a kiln that was so simple, it will make you want to go out and build one right away. He took a 2x4 frame and capped it with approx 1" thick rigid foam insulation. Inside he would put a dehumidifier with a draining tube leading outside, and he also had a small heater in there during the winter. He made it air tight so all he had to do was kick the little heater on to get it started, and then he said just the heat coming off from the dehumidifier was all he needed to dry the wood. Essentially it is the dry air that cures it, the little extra heat helps. In woodworking circles using higher temperatures is called "forced drying" and can lead to unstable wood. Today there are advanced kiln systems that I am not familiar with. However strapping the wood together so it doesn't move while drying is a good idea also. LOve your show. When you eventually put together your woodworking shop I can give you a lot of input. I have a really nice one that I spent a lot of years equipping.
Mike & Melissa - I like "Melissas' Place" that Gord Baker submitted. Nice build on the holder for the Wallenstein skidding winch. Nice music from your youngest . I'm headed over to Melissa's site for the Cheeseburger Soup recipe - can't wait to try it. Blessings to you both, and to the family. Hi to Hunter.
I finally got the video with music by Eva!!!😊 Now, if we could have a longer selection. Also, for some reason, I thought she played a stringed instrument. Would be nice to hear if she did. Loved the homemade music!!
Nice job! You might find that a U shaped handle about 42” off the ground at one end of the cart made from some 1” black pipe and two elbows would greatly aid in pushing and pulling your dolly. A second one on the opposite end would facilitate the moving of a lot of 16” firewood in and around the house. Supermarkets use a similar setup they call a U boat to move heavy cans and goods to their shelves. The difference is they have a 1” larger diameter pair of wheels mounted it the center that allows for balancing of the load and making very tight turns. They go through a lot of them and they are cheaper to replace than repair. I was fortunate to pick up two damaged ones that I was able to cannibalize and make one usable one from the parts. The Mgr was happy to get rid of them as he normally had to hire a special carter to take them away!
Barbara Pitcher: I like your suggestion, but with a slight tweak (I hope you don't mind). Melissa Morgan Making Memories! or Melissa Morgan's Making Memories!
Great video all. Nice job on the dolly Mike. I use the Harbor Freight car dolly's to store my grapple and tractor bucket in the pole barn. So nice to be able to move them around easily. Keep up the good work, and happy social distancing!
Great job Mike. Liked the roller cart for the WALLENSTEIN winch. I sent you a picture of the Cheeseburger Soup my daughter-in-law made from your recipe Melissa, they all liked it. Good job on the picking, Eva, sounds great 👍👍. Thanks for sharing with us. Fred.
Someday when I have a tractor and implements I will be doing the same thing. I like solving a problem with something I built myself. By the way, Callie was super excited to see herself on the TV when I watched the episode this morning. Have a day!
I have seen a couple of names on here that I like. One, which I also thought up, was "Indoors with the Morgans". However, considering that it might not be all indoors, I liked the suggestion "More with the Morgans".
Just what you called it, "Melissa Morgan" that way it leaves it wide open to go in any direction you want. The more words you add, the more limiting it becomes. You never know how these things may grow. Often new ideas bloom, and work best, taking you in whole new directions.
good luck with the new channel . your cart same as the 1 i use to bring wood racks in my house . steering wheels on 1 end and a little bigger wheels well done god bless
That dolly looks great - I have a couple I made myself, similar but not quite as heavy duty as those, and covered them in carpet for moving furniture. Personally, I would have recessed the attachment point of the casters, to make the platform sit an inch or two lower to the ground.
I have many carts like this in my Garage. If you are having problems with the wheels binding/sticking go to a much harder wheel material and that problem will go away. Carts rule!!
Good job Mike, I know you'll be making more of them. I have made the same dollies for all my implements, including the pallet forks and loader bucket, 54" snow blower and box blade. I'd show you mine, but I still have too much snow here in NW Wisconsin to get into the barn where all is stored.
If I had a concrete floor in my tractor shed, I'd have done this long ago. I saw Joe Kapinsky (Kapper Outdoors) make these, and I thought it was a great idea.
Mike I can't believe how green your grass is already. we had some serious rain in the last couple days but the sun was out and it was gorgeous today up here in central NH. Tell Hunter we said hello. 😊. Mellisas channel name....hmmmm how about " pool starved Morgan". Haha
Nice job on caddy. That'll work, bigger/softer castors will help, but that's more $$$. Casters aren't cheap for sure. Have a great day. Melissa's Wonderings.
If you use bigger casters it will move easier. a 6 or 8 inch wheels will make it easier to move. We had 2 inch wheels on a cart for newspaper with about 1250 lb load. Changed wheels to 6- 8 inch wheel. It was 10 times easier to move, no strain at all. Use to take two people at times. I would also suggest getting two locking wheels. The carts will move due to gravity and low places in concrete. A 4 wheel cart with 1000 lb total load, would needed at least 400 lb wheel load. I would use solid wheel rubber tire. If you make T threshold to fit into the crack, even a square piece piece of wood, you should not have to use the forks. Making it easy to move from garage to loading area.
I went thru the comments. A few people have great suggestions. But l am still partial to “Pennsylvania Potluck” it can include whatever hits your fancy. Have a day!
I liked the suggestion "Downstairs with Mellisa or Downstairs with the Morgans". Slow and easy pushing the dolly - looks like it could be tippy. Thanks and take care all.
I made one of these a while ago. They're easier to use if the "back" wheels are fixed and don't swivel. Couldn't find non-swiveling casters, so I epoxied the swivels on 2 of the wheels. If all four wheels swivel, the dolly will tend to go wherever it wants to go. Anyway, greetings from Wisconsin.
That winch dolly looks perfect for it! Ever think about slicing a 2x4 on an angle to make a ramp for your garage lip? I’ve got a 2” deep alley in my shop because it was a converted farrowing house, and I’ve got to figure out a way to roll my shop crane around past those lips. Would be really hard if heavily loaded, but a come along would probably do it. Dropping it off inside is your easier answer, and if the RK24 can hoist on the forks, all is good. That’s not doable inside my shop, so I’ve been thinking how to solve a similar problem. Nice job on the dolly.
Music by: Eva Morgan "Bounce", I'm thinking the acoustics are enhanced by the shape and screening of the trampoline. -- How about "A Little Bit of Everything with Melissa", good luck with the channel. -- Oh boy Melissa I was afraid you were going to go ass over tea kettle by standing on that cradle glad you survived! Nice project Mike, how many implements for the tractors do you store in the garage? Good video, thumbs up.
Melissa's "Cheeseburger Soup" Channel ~ Mike, that dolly worked our just fine. That be a great back saver for moving that winch around the garage & ease in hooking it up. Now make a smaller one for scooter-putting down the driveway. Y'all be safe up there, take care of each other and grab another Uku to add to Eva's little ditty.
I still like " More with the Morgans !!!" Great tunes , awesome cart , will make a huge difference . Eva is good on the Uke !!!! Hello to Hunter . Hope all is well there !!!! Maybe , the guy who makes the grapple could make the carts !!!!
Mike, as small question. When using the chop saw you usually use a square to mark a pencil cutline across the timber, and then, sometimes (like me) you just mark a length line and then rely on the saw to give a square cut. Any reason?
"Wow that never happens" - I felt that in my soul. 😂 All kidding aside I just built a lean-to and spent days designing it before I built it. The only scrap I had left at the end was the metal roofing due to the dumb width of it (just over 3 feet wide). I did have a couple whole pieces extra left over though I bought in case I made an oopsie cutting something.
THAT DOG IN THE BACKGROUND LOVES TO CHEW STICKS,! Reminds me Of my dog PACKEY,! I'm waiting 4 him 2 BRING Home Half A Small Tree and Ask If He Can Keep It!
Cool build Mike. But please put a couple of eye hooks and strap it down. If it catches a stone or a crack the dollie will go one way and the chipper the other. Feet and shines beware. Would not like to see the fur babies get hurt. It will kick out 100 mph plus. ( Shananigans with Malissa )
"Mornin's with Melissa"...... Mel's always in the evenings helping Mike with "Outdoors with the Morgans" and she's a go-go get 'em morning person as far as I can tell..... Soooo, there ya go!... "Mornin's with Melissa" ☺👍 Edit: "Mornin's with the Morgan's"
Boy!
Melissa fits so well on that dolly!
Like it is made for her!
Now the casual strumming on her Uke on the trampoline by Eva was a super light-hearted cheerful thing to see. Keep it up Eva it lightens our day.!!
I'm going to go with.......Wait for it.......Wait for it........Indoors with Mrs. Morgan.

I added wheels to fortified skids to help move implements around for that final hook up. But do need a hard surface to wheel them around.
Meals with Melissa , I like the cart that should work out well
I think I am going to make a few for our pole barn.

Here in Ontario Canada, we use Red Pine mostly for Hydro poles. And bigger lumber like 6x6, 8x8, 10x10..... but it as nice lumber.

Great job Mike you finally finished project
Wow Melissa going to receive UA-cam silver award soon wow wow
