When battling mental health and struggling to make it to the gym what helped you? Supplements? Slamming pre workout? Taking time to meditate and getting back to the gym when you feel ready?
I am late to this video obviously but I like to share some thoughts. Cassey , in my humble opinion needs an intervention. I know that sounds like a lot and I'm just some arm chair expert here but I have followed Cassey for over a decade now. I've watched her process going from bubbly pilates instructor, Attempts at a bikini comp, falling down a dark road of eating disorders and obsessive fitness, Bouncing back and finding a new voice, making herself a brand and being extremely successful and now back to what appears to be a dangerous disordered pattern. About a year ago she was on Facebook and other SM sights with some of the most bizarre eating habits. She would go off in her blogs about how she ate ice cream and **Its totally normal guys!!!** As a means of deflection. I think Cassey has thin skin. And that's ok. I do to. But the way the internet treats her and her past with negative comments and judgment has shaped her into someone who pretends they don't care but they care on a deep level. Another thing to add is Cassey's UA-cam views have gone way way down. The typical pilates videos is no longer working. Her business actually makes some amazing things (I own some apparel) But even she has admitted it can be a struggle to make profit. So she's grasping at straws all while spiraling in some old patterns. The thing about Cassey is she is a genuine person. I do not see her in a malicious light, I see her in a heavily misguided light that's been molded over the years by hateful extremes and a lifestyle that relays on you to be 100% physically attractive at all times. What's funny is we are coming into a society that is finally curtailing these misconceptions and calling out that BS. And guess what? Cassey was the trail blazer for that! She started this years ago by addressing her imperfect physic and refusal to show something that isn't real. I hope she gets the message that people calling out her behavior are doing so out of a responsibility to the community and not as some hate train on her. As another comment stated she knows better.
I above all appreciate your comment the most. Both in how thoughtful and genuine it is but also calling to light her clear unhealthy Ed behaviour that reoccurs as it does in so many. It’s sad but the negative comments she likely receives on a daily basis is certainly not helpful.
I share similar sentiments and I hope she realizes she can still be a successful person if youtube isn’t working out for her. I did notice things really changed when she finally lost weight and I realized that her perception on that was unhealthy and did pick up on the way she talked about the things she ate which were normal to me. I just hope she gets the help she needs and realizes she is not meant to look perfect.
EXACTLY!!! i really don't hate her, i've known her content for about a year and a half and i genuinely like doing some of her workouts because she has such a nice personality and it's funny how she basically distracts you with a lot of talking about random stuff so you don't focus on the pain of the workout lmao she seems to be very genuine and open, especially about her cultural background and struggles, as we would say where i live, it's like she's trying to fit her foot in two shoes instead of one, she wants to be honest but she also needs to make a profit with her channels :/ i don't really judge her but she needs to be aware of how young and impressionable her following can be
It makes me SO sad seeing Cassey act this way. She’s the one who got me into fitness 8 years ago. I even purchased her Piit 28 program and it didn’t have any of these weird movements. Idk if she’s trying to stand out but it’s frustrating because she knows better!!! I wish she’d focus more on weight lifting. That’s how she transformed her body and she even has her own dumbbells at Target. Thank you for always being kind when discussing influencers!! Some of the comments on her tiktok are so mean.
I honestly believe she could grow a butt and strong pair of legs if she actually focused on heavy weight lifting and eating on a slight surplus. She’s so underweight
She also got me into fitness way back when and I'm grateful for it! Back in the day, she focused on pilates and basic bodyweight movements, I'm not sure what happened to lead her to promote this stuff!
Her pop Pilates programme is really well designed and extremely effective. I’m a Pilates instructor and took her instructor qualification and teach it, it’s amazing!Pop Pilates is what her you tube channel was about. Unfortunately the past few years she moved away from that on her you tube and other sm platforms and I’ve been with her since the start but even I find myself that some of the messages she putting out there are not the best and her attitude has also changed a lot the past few years and can get quite defensive if people call her out. But again I’d just like to say her pop Pilates programme is still amazing.
Completely agree . Eveyone loves her stuff it’s because “What she USED to deliver !” Just like we r in relationship , just because what was good in honey moon phase , doesn’t add Credit for being bad partner consistency as time goes alone . For me Only saw her for what she is now . Totally scam . Yoga 🧘🏻♀️ version of Dr.HO … just more pushing for marketing .
I started watching Blogilates and doing her workouts over 10 years ago, and in the beginning I was really into it - maybe because I was a naive teen, but I also feel like she had more "basic" and proper exercises in her workouts back then. For the past five or so years I've seen her videos change. Even though I don't have an education like a PT would, I still hit the gym a lot and I've worked with multiple PTs, and whenever I watch her videos now, I can easily see that more than half the moves does absolutely nothing for muscle growth or strength. This is a very good video.
I like how Cassey thinks that she "has built muscle" with her arm swinging things, when she is just very low body fat and can see the muscle underneath. My skinny boyfriend has abs, but he didn't do anything to get them? Muscle exists even without workout... you can just make it bigger with more use.
I really like that you're giving constructive critisicm instead of just being rude. I have been doing Blogilates since 2013, and it really got me into working out and wanting to be healthier (and enjoying it!). In her videos she has often mentioned that it's okay to work out for vanity reasons, hence why some of her videos are titled "6 minutes to a sexy butt" etc, but that she hopes that at the end of the day people will learn to love working out and do it to become stronger and feel good, rather than just for looks. In all her videos she talks about embracing and loving your body while being allowed to want to improve. She makes working out fun. Overall I have a very positive view of Cassey. However, I REALLY don't like her Tic Toc/Instagram clips. They are so over the top and awkward. I honestly don't think they do her justice. I understand why people would hate on her content based on these clips, especially combined with her "rants" in the caption/comment section (talking about "gym bros" and "narrow-minded" people, etc). Her youtube videos aren't like this.
Her UA-cam videos are very positive and I also like that while doing workout she talks about her life, it makes me feel welcomed and also I feel like im exercising with a very close friend. But in different social medias her short workouts are usually so fake I mean it's like rather than doing three workouts which each of them takes one minute, she mix all the three workouts together to do them in one minute which I don't think will work, im a person who take advices from people I see online so I can't just say "the person is right, the person is wrong." But one fitness instructor I watched the other day said that mixing different workouts and make them one is very lazy and a waste of time which I agree
Always! It’s great that she’s helped you on your journey and it is a shame that her content isn’t consistent across platforms, perhaps it’s due to the different audience? You’ve gotta do what’s best for you :)
i genuinely love how youre so respectful and really know your stuff. trust me when i say if only i found your channel before going into the "mid-pandemic fitness" phase i would have saved my mental healtha lot. since so many fitness ytbers use click baity titles and a lot of exercises and movements which are just not it i love how youre just trying to educate everyone here. i have seen how it affects so many people especially people around my age which is like late teens. im so so glad that youre out here revewing all the ytbers it really helps a bunch thank you so much.
It's actually a little bit sad, because she used to upload pretty decent pilates workouts, but she is trying too hard to come up with new moves and ideas and they end up to... this. Not that it's an excuse for spreading misinformation, of course.
Cassey is more prone to developing eating disorders because she admitted she struggled with one in the past while prepping for a bikini comp. I think her more recent downfall is due to the fact that she decided to do some sort of 90 day detox reset, weight loss thing or whatever it was. She lost a LOT of weight. A lot of people called her out for it. And then she started doing these odd pilates movements that I think she totally made up. Idk I just think she’s really struggling with an ED again and is trying to stay relevant. It’s sad.
i noticed that a lot of fitness influencers like her, emi wong and i think lilly sabri too had eating disorders in the past and are now trying to promote healthy lifestyles... but they seem to still trapped in the ED mentality :/
@@MBlto they probably started developing eating disorders when they became famous. I can almost assure you 90% of women in Hollywood have some kind of disorder or body dysmorphia. Its pretty sad actually.
I just wish cassey was more honest with her audience about how she still has issues with her relationship to food and what she produces - I’ve seen a recommendation diet post from her that was produced with the aid of a dietitian/nutritionist saying the most fat one can consume per day is a thumbnail-sized piece of avocado or 3 almonds.... like.... seriously wtf.
I agree, something happened to her. She seems so focused on weight and her own body transformation that she neglects what made her so unique. Introducing people to pilates as a form of gentle exercise is commendable. This hyper focus on weight and "haters" is just annoying.
i swear i remember she went keto (which is a super high fat diet) for a while before to lose weight and get to her “now” body, and she was mad everyone was dragging her for hyperfocusing on her body/weight.
I followed her back when she first started. Back then she wasn't as muscular as she was now (I think the only exercise she got was teaching pilates at her local gym to get through school) but she was clearly healthy and fit. Her videos were fun and engaging. When she first became popular her videos only became more engaging and fun. She even started a product line with sports bras and leggings that I loved and still own to this day. But as the years went on, her workouts became a lot less creative. Now she only posts videos using her new Target products (She sells weights and bands). Her new fashion line is made with cheaper fabric and none of them have pockets anymore (which is a big deal for leggings). They've also gotten more expensive.
Yeah, we are in the misinformation age. Misinformation is usually over simplified, lacka nuance and aims at our very human desire to find an easy or special way. Thanks for calling it out!
You are the most polite reviewer out there:). As for Cassie. Oyyyyyyy. Like many i think she got me into exercising at least!- and as you said something is better than nothing. Although as a skinny fat person, with her i never saw any results. But, to be fair this was a mistake i did for YEARS with a countless number of other UA-camrs and fitness programs. Also, when you put time and effort into working out and you don't see the change you want it's extremely disappointing, and to some people it can actually lead to unhealthy habits if you think about it. Because a person might think " Well, i'm exercising and eating healthy, but i don't see a change. MAYBE i need to really be drastic with my diet then"- when the whole problem is you are doing ineffective workouts. So recently after not doing the right kind of working out i finally decided to focus on strength training to see a change( well i'm still doing UA-cam workouts but they are with people like Whitney Cummings and Caroline Girvan that is strength based).
That was such a nice video and you were so respectful, Harry. I started following her last Feb and used to love her but gradually I realised the misinformation and stopped doing her workouts. Her previous you tube videos are good though and teach good pilates form! Don't know why she has fallen into this tik tok workout trap.🤷♀️
I used to do her workouts in middle/high school and she definitely did have pretty good movements for beginners/home workout people. And the videos felt more about getting your body to move (and having fun) as well as body positivity (she made a couple of videos about it) rather than burning calories/transforming your body. But then she started doing like 100/1000 squat whatever challenges and more recently started losing weight (even though she was already very small). It just feels very dangerous and harmful (I feel like she's obsessed with being skinny).
I'm glad I got into Fitness Blender early on in the home workout world. They provided really solid, science based advice and complete workouts. You should do a feature on them!
Great video, it’s really sad to see how much misinformation she’s putting out. I followed Blogilates for years, and her videos definitely got me moving way more than I would have otherwise. I think her videos used to be pretty good (I don’t know for sure because I’m not trained or experienced), but the last couple of years her content has changed. As I’ve started learning more about exercise over the past few months, I’ve started to notice things she says that don’t seem right. The way she talks about her body has changed, and I found that quite triggering, which is what eventually made me stop following her. I hope she’s ok.
I love how I was able to hear some of the same concepts in this video that were also in the skeletal muscle physiology lecture I just had for my physio class. Great informational video that without even planning it helped me review for my test.
So happy you made a whole video dedicated to her. When I first got into working out, I quite liked her, but soon she became way too chatty for me. And then when I did some more reaserch, I started to see how she's getting more and more problematic with her fitness and diet advice. Her 90 day journey and how she defensive she got when people started calling her out was when I lost it with her. Hope many people see your video!
Same happened to me. I used to do her calendars quite religiously, but I realised it was just cardio everyday. I stopped doing them and now I am in love with Caroline Girvan!!
I used to love blogilates and occasionally I still use some of her older stretching routines, but it's disappointing to see recently how she's touted some seriously fake claims on social media, I'm particularly concerned about her attempts to rationalize the loss of her period, extreme fitness and dietary suppression to the point of reproductive harm is extremely dangerous and scary to be addressing without medical expertise involved especially when her audience is highly impressionable.
Yes! She said she’s been trying for a baby for years but isn’t having any luck and her progesterone is super low…she has insomnia too. All signs of undereating and metabolic adaptations.
@@RosesareRed38 I don't think she's been trying for years. She said they only recently decided to try because her husband wanted to, but she has no idea if she can because it's been hard for all the women in her family to conceive.
Congratulations 🎉 The sad part is I used to do such workouts. Not hers in particular, but being new and a beginner makes you so available for bs. Need more ppl like you to politely call out other influencer/brands. Life is to short to waste time on wiggling with your arms.
So I'm coming from the perspective of someone who's been a pretty active participator of Blogilates videos for the past 5 or so years but also who doesn't blindly believe...anyone, really. I noticed you focused most of your critique on her arms workouts, and that's probably justified. The arms just cannot be fully worked out without added weight resistance, particularly, like you said, the biceps. But some of the moves she's displaying that you critiqued about being ineffective for biceps and more concentrated on the shoulders, ie. the one where her arms are straight and she's pulsing up and down, those are targeting the shoulders, even by her standards. In fact, I think the name of the move is shoulder pulses. She has quite a few weighted arms workouts, though I've never done them. But I definitely have changed the definition in my shoulders and triceps without weights from her workouts, which is really what I was going for. So I think having realistic expectations is important and also just recognizing what you want out of your workout. For those of you saying her stuff is easy...you must be watching her old videos. Her ab and butt videos from the past maybe 2 years, especially the longer ones, are incredibly difficult. More difficult than any other big Pilates UA-camr. In fact, basically all of her exercises are. And, lastly, to her credit, she acknowledges that her workouts play a somewhat small role in changing your body. There are numerous videos where she talks about how food is the number one player in making physical changes to your body. In one video, I believe it was in an underbutt isolation video, she says, "Don't expect crazy results. Isolation workouts are not going to change your body. If you want to change your body, you need to change your mindset and your lifestyle." I honestly think the area where she spreads the most potentially harmful misinformation is with food and diet. She is not a nutritionist. And I don't feel confident that she's overcome her past eating issues that she's been open about; she has lost a ton of weight and looks great, but she is uuuuuber focused on this despite trying to claim she's not. I just don't buy the whole "It's just to be healthier," and I think she should either stop talking about it or be more open and honest about that aspect of her fitness journey to herself and her viewers.
The main issue I have with people critiquing blogilates is the fact that they forget her primary demographic. There are effective home workouts without weights that give people the goals they want. She’s clickbait but that’s business. Her workouts are easy, but not everyone wants to gain muscle or lift weights. I agree that she’s more dangerous in her nutrition because that’s where she straight up does not know what she’s talking about.
totally agree with you here! I think she and chole ting are in this boat where people forget who their audience is :beginners just looking to build a routine or people who are comfortable with where they are body wise and just want to be active for 15-30 minutes. plus anytime someone says those shoulder pulses don't hurt I swear they're lying because to this day those things kill me!
I swear anyone saying her workouts are easy have not actually tried them. It may be faster to get results when lifting heavier weights but pilates exercises are very effective and improve flexibility and core strength. Not everyone wants to be jacked or can afford a gym membership or weights. I go to the gym now but 10 years ago when i had 0 fitness experience i started her videos and i ended up getting in the best shape of my life. People ask me about my butt all the time and i show them the pilates glute isolation moves i learned from her. She definitely has body issues but i dont believe her workouts are hurting anyone. Repeat any move long enough and the muscles will start to burn. Is it always the most effective? No but it keeps things interesting and reduces injuries for beginners. I wish i still has the level of flexibility and core strength that i had while mainly doing her videos.
I should probably clarify that i haven't done any of her new workouts in years so i cant speak on those, and i did eventually move on to the gym because i wanted to work with heavier weights once i got used to/ bored of her workouts. But they did teach me the foundations and how to use you core to have proper form ect
Love this! I like Cassey and have done her workouts a lot in the past, but I recognized quickly she works best as a “gateway” to fitness. She’s positive and good at motivating you to simply be active and move. But once you get the desire to get certain physique changes, you need to move on to a different type of workout. I would love to see you review Sarah’s Day!
This video was long overdue! Thank you for putting out this type of content, we still have a long way to go with these fitness influencers looking “fit” and telling the rest of the world you get muscles by hardly doing any work for it 😄
I'm new to this channel and I wanted to say great video, I used to only do weightless arm workouts thinking they worked because of the burn, but eventually I figured out they were only really working my shoulders. So you're right that they don't really build muscle because my upper body was weak despite doing all those movements. My shoulders look great tho
She is another fitness youtuber I have watched going through mental health issues. Maybe it is in the lying to the community and or the pressures of her business. A lot of them seem to need a vacation from this toxic online culture. I think she has done that a few times but gets sucked back in (i.e. the tik toks you showed).
Hi Harry! Thank you once again for an informative video! I was one of those who looked at blogilates' content (among others) for guidance at the start of the pandemic, and I would say that my biggest takeaway from her was aspects about mental health, body positivity and mentality towards working out. I am very glad I could spot the bs in her fitness content pretty early on and move on. It seems like some creators just wake up one day and choose the path of clout and misinformation, and I am very glad you are not one of them 😊 I've had some fitness related questions at the back of my mind just piling up for some time now, I would very much appreciate it if you could answer any of them (but please don't feel obliged to): 1. In Sydney Cumming's latest program leg days were structured in such a way that you do each exercise first with a full range of motion, then a pulse version, then a hold (plus sometimes an explosive version), say, a front lunge, then a lunge pulse, lunge hold, lunge hops. I had my doubts about the effectiveness of pulse and hold variations and you have partially confirmed them in the video. Is it always just an empty burn? Would you recommend replacing pulses and holds with full ROM movements? 2. My cardiovascular endurance have always been lacking 😅 As I am trying to build it up now, I find it hard to spot the moment where I should lower the intensity so as not to die in the next 30 seconds. I asuume it has to do with my heart rate and the interval in heart rate at which my body is working in aerobic energy system? I don't think I can even put the chaos of my thoughts on the topic into words, so just any cardio beginner tips would be very much appreciated! 3. Sometimes during intense leg exercises I feel a tingling sensation in the skin on my thigh. I assume it is something neurological, like maybe my muscles expand and restrict oxygen or blood flow to the nerves in the area. Maybe you have such an experience or a possible explanation for it? Sorry for such a lenghty comment and congratulations about the 30k!
I’m sure harry will answer this much better than me when he gets to your question, but I just wanted to point out that the kind of training that Sydney does, with the doing the same movements for half moves and then for holds, is actually a legit training technique that a lot of serious trainers use. Caroline Girvan does this too. It increases the time under tension which is very effective! Harry also did not say bodyweight exercises are ineffective! He said the opposite actually lol. But he did say that they have to have an anchor. Push-ups and no weight squats and lunges are examples of good bodyweight exercises. Holding your arm in the air and flinging it around is what he was talking about being ineffective. It would be like if instead of a lunge you just brought your knee up and down over and over again. Yeah, it might burn, but it’s not going to do much because there’s no resistance there. There’s no “anchor.” Burning isn’t always a sign of an effective workout but sometimes it is!
Great video, so many people attack her in an unnecessarily cruel way and even though some of them are correct to point out that her content is littered with misinformation there is no need to be a jack-arse about it. Cassey got me back into fitness after a long hiatus due to hospital stays and starting off with a bit of 10-20 min Pilates every day really grew my strength back, especially my core. Once I was strong enough I moved back to weight training, cardio and mobility focused workouts and it all worked out great. So long as people see her as a stepping stone to fitness, I think it's okay what she does. If you're looking for drastic composition change in your body, then no, she won't get you there. But her aesthetics and presentation sell really well, I completely understand her strong following but it's disappointing she doesn't do all the homework and teach appropriately. But brilliant that you broke down the science of it all, it just made it such a fair video to watch. Ooof, thanks for tolerating my paragraph!!
She presents herself as an expert and is putting out incorrect information, seems like she earned the drag - but of course only focusing on her misunderstanding of the science.
Great video as always, Harry! I used to follow Casey and even have her Pilates book. Her videos really used to be good. The workouts now are just weird. It really is kinda sad. On another note, gyms here have re-opened again and I have been using a lot of your training queues to make sure my form stays good as well as using the TFNL tier system to structure my workouts. So massive thank you for that!!
I have been doing her UA-cam workouts for years and I feel way more stronger than I was when I started and I can even see some muscle definition, that is already enough to feel proud of myself, I think everybody here assumes people work out to have big muscles or a super model body, the mean reason I work out is because it helps me release tension after a long day, it motivates me and improves my self-esteeem. I understand your view about some of the things she posts and I am thankful for it, however this is a little portion of all her content, and it's only social media content, not very fair on my opinion. I don't follow every advice from her, with Casey or any other person you shouldn't believe everything they say, luckily I never expected to have her body from doing her workouts I just have fun doing them, also I don't believe in UA-cam videos titles, just like the one you use here, they are meant to attract people's attention, unfortunately that's how publicity works, it sucks so people should learn and teach their kids to be critical.
yeah I mean cool, if it helps you unwind some exercise is better than none, but even with weightless exercises, like how much of a absolute shitty movement can you do yknow? pushups and crunches and some stretches would definitely be WAYYYYYYYYY better than any of these shorts of hers, plus, 20 kg dumbbell sets online cost 10 usd, I think almost anybody can buy them as a one time investment, they are pretty good
@@mamamamia1882 I guess you haven't really watched her videos or maybe all you know about her are these reactions because she has many videos with lots of crunches, pushups, squats, lunges, planks, etc. So that's part of my point, people is critizacing her just basing in part of her content, I agree not all of her content is really the best but part of it is and she has really effective workouts. Since you are making many assumptions I need to say she has videos where uses dumbbells and I have dumbbells myself, I use them with her workouts and others too since I don't follow her workouts only, but I still prefer hers, I am starting to practice yoga too which requires a lot of body strength and I have seen how her workouts helped me to gain strength.
Great video! I remember her from when I was younger (probably 17-20) and seeing her workouts online, and then just recently I’ve see a few similar videos to yours and posts online and I’ve been really surprised. I agree that the best workout is the one you’ll look forward to, but I hate seeing so much misinformation from someone with such a big platform, especially knowing how easily influenced I was when I was younger.
To be honest she triggers memories from my ED I used to try and follow her in middle school and high school and I did her "challenges" all to zero progress because they just aren't effective workouts, and I thought what's wrong with me why doesn't this work why can't I get skinny and "toned". Which helped lead me to the decision to starve myself. After recovering I fell in love with weightlifting and never looked back. Thankyou for calling her out she claims to be body positive but is seriously such a fraud.
@@TFNL I am very good now lifting saved me! There is just a lot of undercover toxicity in the fitness industry especially with programs targeted towards women. That's why I love accounts like yours that are real and help steer people in the right direction!
I’ve been a huge fan of her platform for over a decade. But the past couple years, I all but stopped following her. I don’t enjoy the shorts, don’t enjoy the odd turns in her career (or health?). I enjoyed the mid to late 2010’s when she was big on the Blogilates website- printable PDF calendars, recipes, TONS of UA-cam content, happy community, and not trying so hard to reinvent the wheel. Granted I’m old enough to see that it’s always been there. Everyone online trying to be quirky and present newfangled techniques haha Now it feels so tainted due to social media. It’s a bummer. By the way I’m here because I was looking for classic Blogilates videos (like 8+ years back) to add to my main playlist. Haha Thanks for the thoughts. It’s important to keep learning.
I used to really like cassey, I started watching her about 10 years ago when I was just getting in to fitness. She did a bikini competition, and following her journey is actually what initially got me interested in weight training. I really don't follow her now, but I believe she suffered from orthorexia after her competition.. maybe that is why she takes the approach she does now? I think she is maybe trying to reach people who don't want to lift weights and get "bulky" but want to be "toned".
When I saw her make a video about bmi and bodyfat percentage etc. and she told a lady she was 5% bodyfat, I knew she had zero knowledge about anything pertaining to the human body, especially fitness.
Blogilates has a series with some weights by now. Maybe you can take a look at those and see if they are better at least? I started with fitness 8 years ago thanks to blogilates. Then did her stuff for a while but struggled to keep my motivation up. Stopped for 2 years, went to the gym, had no motivation again and started again with her videos. Her positive spirit and free workout plans always got to me. Now, years later, I went through a gym phase again, switched to Pamela Reif and now stuck with Growingannanas for a few weeks. If blogilates used those positive vibes for some actual 30 minute workouts, that would be amazing. Will always be thankful for those times and that she got me started :) But yeah, I agree that those may make you feel good because you "did something", but I never saw some big results.
Video Notes time! Introduction: Hello sir! Looking far more clean shaven than I’ve seen you recently, have to say. Looking forward to the 30K Q and A, I know it’s going to be mixture of serious topics but also ample, raw humor from you, the way you always treat things. YES for the progressive overload on the likes! Blogilates: From what little I’ve seen and the researching we did prior to video time, I already know I’m not going to be liking a lot of what I see. Press Ups for Biceps?: This already looks horrible, and I’m highly doubting her Biomechanics knowledge here, so I’m expecting you to drop some education right now….there it is, nice knowledge drop on biceps/triceps and flexion/extension. You are correct when it comes to people putting their trust in content creators and expecting them to tell the truth, which is something I have absolutely no doubt that you do, so thank you for that! Please, we know your biceps are already 22 inches anyway.. Make Yourself Taller?: Age 27, and you are still breaking things, so nothing has changed there! Nothing else to say here on this section to be honest, the idea that you can “make yourself taller” outside of just standing up straighter isn’t the best. Weightless Arm Workout: I think I already know what you are going to say here, you need resistance to progressively overload, and something along the lines of “just because it’s hurting, doesn’t mean it’s working”. More educational tidbits from you here, especially on how her movements aren’t even really arm workouts but more so shoulder workouts, and not really all that effective anyway. Do Bodyweight Workouts Work?: Don’t particularly appreciate her attitude and stereotyping of “bros” in her IG caption there, but I’m not really appreciating much from her so far to be bluntly honest. I will back you on the most effective workout for you being what you are able to stay most consistent with/enjoy, a point you reiterate in multiple videos. Otherwise, her workouts really need to go in the bin from everything I’ve seen so far. What Causes DOMS?: Thanks for the education here, definitely something that needs to be clarified for a lot of people. Conclusion: I’m disappointed in her as well, as her platform could do so much good, but she pushes far too much misinformation and she seems kind of elitist to me, just being honest. Very educational video from you again, thanks for the effort you put into it!
I love her workouts.. I used to them occasionally before I started working out with Caroline. I don't think her workouts did much for me physically.. But her, Chloe Ting, Pamela Reif, Koboko Fitness, etc. Kept me consistent. I lost major amount of my weight doing their workouts. But I don't think they help build muscle. Maybe if you have another goals then their workouts are great. Also Pilates is tough and it made me feel very highly of myself or a "celebrity"🙂 Don't know about every one else 😂 BUT I do believe that she's promoting absolute B.S. in terms of information and I don't support that. If stretching made people taller, I would've been a palm tree by now instead of a shrub 🙂🙂
@@cl5420 Hi Christiane .. I am so glad you're doing well now .. Yes I believe weight training is the only way out .. It's easy and less exhausting in my opinion rather than jumping around or just moving one leg in a lunge ...
If I may add on top of the answer to the question at the end: If you feel back pain while doing exercise it might be just the muscle is working and when u stop this movement the pain (lactic acid build up) usually goes away pretty fast. If you feel the pain which could be an injury (more like a sharp pain) and it doesn’t go away right away and it lingers for days (like Harry said) it might be an injury. If it’s an injury please do not continue to workout for that specific area and rather seek medical help. Better to treat it soon than delay it and maybe injure yourself more. Love your content Harry 🙌
Her fan base is from the promise of becoming fit by doing as little as possible. People these days love that idea. Sadly though, it doesn't work that way. You have to push the limits of your body in order to get those gains!!!! 😁
Serious question - and I used to watch this (TFNL etc) content all the time - why do we all care? like really why? If people close to me choose to exercise stupidly, I may give them a bit of advice but strangers? there are only so many hours in the day. Is this dangerous? hardly. And yes I get the irony of me writing this on a comment section of a YT video that I only made it a minute into before re-realising that Blogilates impacts my life 0%.
I got this video recommended to me, so first time watcher ☺️ I gotta say....you opened my eyes when you explained the tricep/ bicep movements. It's so simple yet I never really got it. You changed the way I think about my workout routine with this explanation alone, thank you!
Wow, I have to say, this is the most respectful, kind and informative review I’ve ever seen! Plus I learned as well, that’s why I hit the like button and subscribed. Please keep up with this style - kind & informative reviews 😌 Thank you!
No wonder bogillates blocked you you Harry. Your honest approach really made her uncomfortable cause she knows what she uploads is misleading her subscribers and that's sad.years ago started with pillates due to injury. It was ok then, but the definition of muscles is only accomplished by using weights and progressively overloading. The reason I love Caroline workouts. Keep up the great work Harry, your channel will be growing ❤️👍
@@_my_insomnia_blink562 No bulking dear, All my life have been lean, I had never excess weight, never have I been on a diet, Just in my 50's now have managed to have the muscle definition that I used to have in my twenties,
It’s like on one hand yes, do what works for you. On the other hand tho body weight can only get you so far. I watch male fitness videos bc it’s hard to find a decent upper bodywork from a female. There’s a misconception out there if you lift weights, you’ll get too “muscular” but don’t people realize how long that takes. I low key get triggered by influencers like this bc like you said Harry they could be spreading a lot of good info w their platform but instead get content like that. Congrats again on 30K! 🎉 can’t wait to see the Q&A
I used to follow her workout calendar consistently and never really expected to build muscle, but the workouts did tone my body. I always expected it to be more like yoga, which is the outcome of doing her workouts. I don’t follow her on tiktok, but I never felt like she was implying her workouts would make my muscles larger
I had scrolled over her Instagram and she was not so ripped earlier...then she said she lost weight controlling food intake...she replaced all carbs with stuff like zoodles and other vegetables...that's how she got the physique she is in today... But saying that just exercise like these do anything, is not correct...she also needs to share how much defense she is doing, what is she eating to give complete picture to her viewers...many people who are just starting fitness journey will get disappointed because they won't see any results from this...this can at times effect people's mental health... This is such a bad trend in fitness industry... Thanks Harry for such a detailed video...as always love your content and super sorry for the rant above, just reached my break point with such content from certified individuals, it's appalling
This is such a great job Harry! My fitness beginnings were making me sad and disappointed because of unrealistic expectations and stupid exercices tiring me without any real results. All of this because of the misleading content and questionable advices produced by some popular influencers. Maybe they don't consider how negatively it can impact others lives. But it does. Making you feel you cannot achieve what others easily can. I'm so happy and grateful I found your channel just in time to get me out of this bubble. You make us stronger and happier and I believe you gonna rescue many people from going down the wrong road.
I'm also one of those who did her older videos a lot. I was a figure skater with some back issues and her workouts were great for my stability and balance and also working in some flexibility in the exercises. But these days it doesn't do much for me when using it as my only exercise and I have a hard time with the image that she's pushing on social media especially with like intense weight loss plans and short term challenges, while at the same time spouting body positivity
I stopped being a fan of hers long ago because of her hyper focus on aesthetics....her 90 day transformation rubbed me the wrong way, it felt forced and like a cover for a serious ED/mental health issue....and that's why I love Sydney Cummings! Been doing her programs for 3-4 years now!
It's nice someone adresses this things. I loved Blogilates workouts (and honestly still do) bc they're fun to me and I've seen major changes in my body. HOWEVER Cassey is so freaking concerned with her business and selling whatever she can get her hands into that she forgot she is putting people at serious risk with the information, tools and content she produces. In my case I did a challenge of hers at the beginning of the year that came with a "Meal plan" that was supposed to be dietitian approved, I was so badly affected by it that I got really sick!! I felt so stupid bc it was obvious she put it there so that people ended up paying for it, spreading misinformation about a "healthy diet" when the truth is everyone has different bodies and needs and it is basically IMPOSSIBLE to make a meal plan that suits everyone. Stopped following her ever since!
Even pilates have overload. Classic pilates, like Joseph pilates creates is made in machines with springs and you can increase resistance with more springs. Or with more body weight, just like Calisthenics. Pilates is a great exercise for mind body connection, for working how You breathe during exercise, an for mobility. Is the classic dancers gym. I think most "definition" you can see in bloglites now is because she is really thin now. Just like dancers normally are, But as a Ballerina I can say that before training with weight, I didn't see half the definition or strength I have today.
I am recovering from an eating disorder and I love your channel so much. Wrong information and unhealthy information definitely is horrible and plays on people's self esteem and worth. All bodies are amazing
Blogilates is more about soft excercises, idk what else to call it, like pilates, stretches, body weight workouts, easy yet intense exercises etc. and they do work. Her excercises are both beginner friendly and for someone who is pro. And her beautiful personality really adds up. I really enjoy her workouts and a lot of people do too. She at least doesn't promote unhealthy eating, or to become obsessive about excercising. Instead of using words like big, plump she uses toned/ healthy.
You just earned a subscriber! Thank you for sharing information. It makes me think about some information. I wasn't sure about clicking this video but I had a feeling I should hear out and I don't understand Science. It makes sense. I started with her in 2013 I used to do her video often I do it now and then. I do explore other fitness workout videos I like to change it up! I don't follow her as often as I used to back in my college day. I'll be watching more videos in the near future.
Congrats on the 30k! Hope you reached your like goal! Unfortunately I was busy and couldn't watch it right away. This video was great and very informative, and I did learn something new. Thank you :) Btw, you were probably just joking about your ears (ofc you have normal ears that did not stand out for me in this video) but one thing I heard that meant a lot to me was "Don't say things about yourself that make you feel weak" (or bad/self conscious). I was in the habit of criticizing myself so that others wouldn't I guess but I realized it's not a healthy thing to do. Things stick with you even if you're the one saying them. If I misunderstood the comment I apologize. It was probably light hearted. But it stood out to me. :) Have a great week and keep doing what you're doing
It's actually scary the amount of misinformation is put on the internet for tha sake of getting more views. It's really easy to trick someone with any account on any platform. Morality and responsability are lost with these type of influencers
Thank you so much for these videos! I’ve been doing her videos on and off for a few years and I always come back to them bc I’m a novice who is still intimidated by the gym. She’s encouraging even though, like many others have noted, I don’t really agree with or like her messaging. Could you maybe suggest some youtubers who aren’t super intimidating? :)
There are so many great push up variations if you want to work your upper body, especially for beginners, I don't understand why she's promoting those arm swinging/lifting motions...
She is actually one of the first fitness influencers I started watching back in the days, and I actually thought rolling my arms etc was making me stronger, because it hurt my muscles. Maybe for a beginner it works because it require so little muscle stimuli in the beginning, but I can't believe one can progressive overload these exercises over a longer period of time 🤷♀️
it's strange, cause even if she isn't into weights she does sell different resistance band sets as part of her brand. so she at least doesn't think you should have no resistance for your arm workouts.
@Lorena Treichler ah, did not know that. I just bought her bands cause they seemed nice. Also I’ve never done Pilates, but I did barre and we still involved light weight for arm work.
Sidenote she hass lost a lot of waight and had already some muscle by loosing waight they show off more, so her physic was build already from the many years of training
Hi. I really appreciate your calmness and friendliness throughout the entire video but you’ve only focused on her arm workouts which I must agree are not as effective as weight lifting. But she does butt, legs, arms and even cardio workout which are really good for shaping you body. Sure, it won’t give you crazy muscle but as you said your workouts must align with your goal and pilates isn’t meant for building crazy muscle definition. Besides that, she also uses her platform for spreading body positivity, period loss… and she has always said that food, sleep, water intake and other types of workouts (e.g. running, cardio) are very important. So yes, I agree with some of the things you’ve said but I believe you should also present another perspective.
Thank you! I always tend to say that my opinions are purely based on what I am observing throughout the video but I'm going to cover her other workouts soon to ensure I'm looking at everything :)
I get that she's a bit problematic but I don't think she has an ED as some of the people here arw saying.. She's just become more conscious of her weight or aesthetics now and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. We all want to look good and everyone's definition of good is different. Also, she isn't exaggeratimg about the losing your period thing. It does happen if you under eat and over train. Model Romee strijd also talked about how she lost her period because of excessive hiit workouts but was able to conceive after she stopped. I think what Cassey is trying to say is that she's not against weight training, but you shouldn't go crazy behind body building anf all that
So I started doing Blogilates’ workouts when the pandemic started and it’s been super helpful for me. I can’t afford home gym equipment and I live in an apartment so options are limited. So weights are mostly off the table for me right now (no, there aren’t any household objects I can use that mimic the experience of weights). I’m also not feeling safe enough to go back to a gym and I probably won’t anytime soon. Cassey’s workouts have kept me in shape mostly. I actually have gained muscle, even from her arm workouts. I get what you’re saying and I’m not at all disagreeing. I do think she’s promoted misinformation. However I don’t think some of the videos you showed were evidence of that. Btw, gym culture is extremely toxic (particularly when you’re a woman).
I did follow her at one point and her content was going really off piste/incorrect. I’m not a beginner/novice gym goer so I could see a lot of stuff that is bad advice or just incorrect. And also “get these abs” posts which are just a flat stomach with low body fat and not one single ab. She could just share good correct fitness advice, that’s an option she has and isn’t doing. Thanks for a good video sharing correct info in the process
hi Harry, i have a question, so most people say that you should stretch after a workout but home much does stretching help with muscle soreness after a workout? i've seen someone people say DOMS cannot be prevented by stretching but others say the opposite - figured I'd ask the pro! thanks :)
Trainer here and I wanted to chime in but maybe this’ll still be comment question of the week who knows. Stretching after a workout is not entirely necessary. I will do some light stretching after a particularly hard session, but it’s also now known that just ending the workout/leaving is ok too. Now regarding DOMS, I wouldn’t say stretching prevents it, however, 2 things: 1. Dynamic stretching and priming movements before you actually lift/workout help with engaging the CNS and muscles themselves. This results in a better workout and LESS CHANCE OF INJURY (which is maybe what that someone was alluding to?) This is why you see sports teams do stretching/movement drills down a court/field before a game. 2. Stretching after you’re already sore won’t necessarily prevent DOMS either, but stretching and actually more importantly activating that muscle very far from the intensity you actually worked it, I.e. if back is sore from heavy rows, doing light cable or resistance band rows far from “failure” (when it feels like the muscle is giving out) will actually promote blood flow and speed up the soreness/DOMS process. Doing a light full body stretching/resistance training routine-literally could be just lifting at very, very low intensity if you like going to the gym frequently, or at home w resistance bands/BW- is one form of the “active recovery/active rest” you may here fitness people talk about. Another form is walking around your neighborhood or an easy hike/trail walk. Even playing w your dog. Something to just promote blood flow and not letting your body stiffen up too much from a grueling session. Also as I said, some days if I have time and had a particularly challenging workout, I like to stretch to just promote the parasympathetic response ; the “calm down” “rest/digest” mode our bodies have. It’s a way to tell my body the workouts’ over and a chance to work on any mobility moves/issues I’m dealing with because my muscles are still warm at this point. So it’s also not a bad thing to do either. But the question if it’s necessary? No, it’s not. And doesn’t fool proof prevent DOMS, especially if you’ve increased the intensity and/or volume you’re working out at or introduced a new stimulus; for example, a new exercise or rep range. @TFNL anything to chime in/change? Hope any of that helped a bit!
@@TFNL I wanted to make sure you saw since it was addressed to you and oof, I’ve had other trainers undermine me before so I wanted to make sure I wasn’t unintentionally doing that.
If it was just like tinder, your account would be deactivated. Bad friend, I know, please forgive me I couldn't help myself 😂 Love how she calls out toxic gym culture after writing condescending captions insulting people who don't agree with her or the misinformation she spreads. Tbh her views on what constitutes as 'results' are so different than mine that I've never paid any attention to her.
I used to love her exercises it was fun but yeah, lately I find her exercise too weird and not doing anything to me. It's still fun for starting out exercise but I need to move on from her now
I’m kind of surprised by this… I do her leg and butt workouts and always thought they were effective because they felt so difficult. I’m not a beginner at working out at all, so I don’t understand why they felt so hard. Do you think it’s just her upper body workouts that are bad? Also, do you have any recommendations for pilates/ body weight exercises that can be done at home that DO work?
I think she’s doing these controversial exercises and strange movements for attention if people talk about it she gets attention. It’s sad because she has a Pilates background but for her it’s about the money even after her target brand deal and crazy following. Cassey went from the pilate fitness mommy to attention based let me get all this money (ft. The injury reserve) and attention to expand the Cassey Ho empire and dynasty. She’s been around for a long time and she’s trying to falsely re-invent the wheel with this misinformation. I also find it sad she’s trying to bash the gym bro culture but I understand when Greg doucette and Sean Nalejawalaykamehameha has turned her jaded and now she’s doubling down on this misinformation.
These current "workouts" are just weird and have misinformation, some of them just give the wrong impression while technically correct. Pilates can be a great workout when done correctly. Currently for me pilates is one of the only forms of exercise that I can do. For me pilates definitely helps with posture and back pain. Most of the exercises need control in your core which automatically helps. I don't think any of the movements she showed in this video were something I would use in workout. They don't really work, unless you use them as a warm up.... That being said her older videos are much better and actually useful. I have largely stopped following her since I get such diet/fad culture vibes from her currently.
She does make her titles and workouts kind of clickbait-y. But pilates itself is a great workout! It just depends on your goals. I started my fitness journey with pilates and I learned a lot about form, breath, and different exercises from the classes I took. I also used pilates during my recovery when I had a back injury. I have moved onto weights now to build muscle, but pilates is still a very great workout.
Do you have any questions for the upcoming Q&A?! :)
How much cardio do you recommend for someone trying to get stronger? (Other than walking my dog 5k a day I avoid cardio at all costs)
When battling mental health and struggling to make it to the gym what helped you? Supplements? Slamming pre workout? Taking time to meditate and getting back to the gym when you feel ready?
How do you manage stress?
Are my weak shoulders holding back my bench press?
Have you ever cried into your Trenbolone sandwich?
I appreciate this comment a lot, thank you
I above all appreciate your comment the most.
EXACTLY!!! i really don't hate her, i've known her content for about a year and a half and i genuinely like doing some of her workouts because she has such a nice personality and it's funny how she basically distracts you with a lot of talking about random stuff so you don't focus on the pain of the workout lmao
she seems to be very genuine and open, especially about her cultural background and struggles, as we would say where i live, it's like she's trying to fit her foot in two shoes instead of one, she wants to be honest but she also needs to make a profit with her channels :/ i don't really judge her but she needs to be aware of how young and impressionable her following can be
It makes me SO sad seeing Cassey act this way.
Yes Ikr ... She shows her workouts on her insta stories but she doesn't actually make videos about that. I wish she did that along with Pilates.
It is sad to see! Always
I really like some of her dumbell workouts. Much better! I have piit but haven't tried it yet
Agree with that 😍
I've heard similar things about her content shift!
I am also an instructor and think the program is trash and this is not even counting the terrible 1200 calorie diet she promotes
I agree with that. I love her old videos and old merchandise. The energy she gives now is off...I haven't followed her in a year because of it. :/
Completely agree . Eveyone loves her stuff it’s because
“What she USED to deliver !”
Just like we r in relationship , just because what was good in honey moon phase , doesn’t add Credit for being bad partner consistency as time goes alone . For me Only saw her for what she is now . Totally scam . Yoga 🧘🏻♀️ version of Dr.HO … just more pushing for marketing .
I’ll never get tired of you calling out fitfluencer BS in such a respectful way. You’re a gentleman, Harry!
I shall always try to be! Thank you :)
I've heard that her content has changed a lot! It's such a shame. Thank you :)
I like how Cassey thinks that she "has built muscle" with her arm swinging things, when she is just very low body fat and can see the muscle underneath. My skinny boyfriend has abs, but he didn't do anything to get them? Muscle exists even without workout... you can just make it bigger with more use.
It is a bit wild!
She doesn't have low body fat percentage by nature. She was pretty fat 2 years ago
@@raliraykova4888 nah, she was never really fat. She just had higher body fat percentage but never fat.
She used to have a nice full size and muscles but started over dieting and became extremely skinny. Think she might be a bit anorexic
I vividly remember doing those with her lmao
Always trying my best, thank you! I appreciate you
It's actually a little bit sad, because she used to upload pretty decent pilates workouts, but she is trying too hard to come up with new moves and ideas and they end up to... this. Not that it's an excuse for spreading misinformation, of course.
I've heard this, sadly
Cassey is more prone to developing eating disorders because she admitted she struggled with one in the past while prepping for a bikini comp. I think her more recent downfall is due to the fact that she decided to do some sort of 90 day detox reset, weight loss thing or whatever it was. She lost a LOT of weight. A lot of people called her out for it. And then she started doing these odd pilates movements that I think she totally made up. Idk I just think she’s really struggling with an ED again and is trying to stay relevant. It’s sad.
It is sad and I hope she's okay!
i noticed that a lot of fitness influencers like her, emi wong and i think lilly sabri too had eating disorders in the past and are now trying to promote healthy lifestyles... but they seem to still trapped in the ED mentality :/
That's incredibly concerning, especially as a recommendation for women.
i swear i remember she went keto (which is a super high fat diet) for a while before to lose weight and get to her “now” body, and she was mad everyone was dragging her for hyperfocusing on her body/weight.
As do I, sadly!
3 almonds 💀💀💀
I've heard that her content has shifted a lot...
Wait what? I just saw her advertising her leggings with pockets?
Yeah, we are in the misinformation age. Misinformation is usually over simplified, lacka nuance and aims at our very human desire to find an easy or special way. Thanks for calling it out!
It's such a shame! Always :)
She is a great starter trainer. Bu like me many realise soon enough that she's not enough. I still do some of her workouts on my rest days
I get this!
Thank you, I try! That's the issue, many blame themselves when it's more than likely the misinformation causing issues
Cannot believe she's getting away with putting out stuff like this. Great video as always, Harry! So clearly explained based on actual science.
Seriously!!
It really baffles me! Thank you :)
Cue the crying Jesse Pinkman gif
It's not that dramatic. Have seen worse
this is the only video i hv seen of a male critiquing a female fitness influence lr without it being misogynistic
Thank you!
Thank you! People often fall into the trap of producing what people want to hear, sadly :(
I started out with her workouts! but ive moved on to real exercise now. I'm very grateful for her for helping me start!
This is good! :)
I can see how this can be harmful!
And she is struggling to get pregnant!
I'm glad I got into Fitness Blender early on in the home workout world. They provided really solid, science based advice and complete workouts. You should do a feature on them!
Your explanation of tricep vs bicep exercise is so clear and easy to get!!
This makes me happy! :)
Thank you! I've heard a few people say that her content has changed, sadly
I love how I was able to hear some of the same concepts in this video that were also in the skeletal muscle physiology lecture I just had for my physio class. Great informational video that without even planning it helped me review for my test.
I love this comment! You'll ace the test :)
I had the exact same experience, the “too chatty” part is so true
@@nightsgrow6575 Exactly!!
SAME!!! I used to do her videos a long time ago, but then her click bait titles and just her extreme focus on her weight started to bug me.
I'm glad that you tolerated it! I've heard that she's changed a fair bit
That is concerning!
She released a tik tok recently saying loosing your period is extremely unhealthy and is a very bad sign.
couldnt agree more. Besides, she is so skinny while selling fitness
Congratulations 🎉
The sad part is I used to do such workouts. Not hers in particular, but being new and a beginner makes you so available for bs.
Need more ppl like you to politely call out other influencer/brands. Life is to short to waste time on wiggling with your arms.
It does but I'm glad things are better now :) Thank you, Linda
If you want to change your body, you need to change your mindset and your lifestyle."
I honestly think the area where she spreads the most potentially harmful misinformation is with food and diet.
To be honest, I appreciate your insight and this comment a lot. Thank you
totally agree with you here!
I have noticed this! Sarah's Day is on the list :)
This video was long overdue! Thank you for putting out this type of content, we still have a long way to go with these fitness influencers looking “fit” and telling the rest of the world you get muscles by hardly doing any work for it 😄
It's my pleasure! :)
I wouldn't be surprised, sadly!
It seems like some creators just wake up one day and choose the path of clout and misinformation, and I am very glad you are not one of them 😊
I've had some fitness related questions at the back of my mind just piling up for some time now, I would very much appreciate it if you could answer any of them (but please don't feel obliged to):
It's my pleasure! I'll always remain honest, I promise. I have saved all of those questions! Thank you so much :)
@@potato-whiz this is a very informative answer! thank you so so much
Great video, so many people attack her in an unnecessarily cruel way and even though some of them are correct to point out that her content is littered with misinformation there is no need to be a jack-arse about it.
Thank you! I can understand this, she seems to be serving a purpose which is great. I appreciate your paragraph :)
Thank you! It'a shame how things have changed. Ayy, this is amazing to read :)
Gotta do what's best for you :)
yeah I mean cool, if it helps you unwind some exercise is better than none, but even with weightless exercises, like how much of a absolute shitty movement can you do yknow? pushups and crunches and some stretches would definitely be WAYYYYYYYYY better than any of these shorts of hers, plus, 20 kg dumbbell sets online cost 10 usd, I think almost anybody can buy them as a one time investment, they are pretty good
@@mamamamia1882 I guess you haven't really watched her videos or maybe all you know about her are these reactions because she has many videos with lots of crunches, pushups, squats, lunges, planks, etc.
Omg same!
Thank you :) Misinformation is such an issue!
This makes me sad but I understand. I hope you're okay
Everyone online trying to be quirky and present newfangled techniques haha
Now it feels so tainted due to social media. It’s a bummer.
By the way I’m here because I was looking for classic Blogilates videos (like 8+ years back) to add to my main playlist. Haha
Thanks for the thoughts. It’s important to keep learning.
I get this, it's odd how times change! Thank you
I used to really like cassey, I started watching her about 10 years ago when I was just getting in to fitness.
Ooo, potentially!
When I saw her make a video about bmi and bodyfat percentage etc. and she told a lady she was 5% bodyfat, I knew she had zero knowledge about anything pertaining to the human body, especially fitness.
Yeah, that's sus!
Accurately predicting my content?! I feel attacked! As always, thank you for the 10/10 notes :)
@@TFNL Yeah, BACK IT.
Also Pilates is tough and it made me feel very highly of myself or a "celebrity"🙂 Don't know about every one else 😂
BUT
I do believe that she's promoting absolute B.S. in terms of information and I don't support that. If stretching made people taller, I would've been a palm tree by now instead of a shrub 🙂🙂
I get this :) A palm tree, haha!
Absolutely! Thank you :)
Her fan base is from the promise of becoming fit by doing as little as possible. People these days love that idea. Sadly though, it doesn't work that way. You have to push the limits of your body in order to get those gains!!!! 😁
Actually her pilates videos are quite challenging.
Yes, some can be. I followed her for a brief time.
This is a shame! But yes, gotta push it :)
@@Alex-pt5no i think it’s to help people avoid wasting their time on things that don’t actually help
I got this video recommended to me, so first time watcher ☺️ I gotta say....you opened my eyes when you explained the tricep/ bicep movements. It's so simple yet I never really got it. You changed the way I think about my workout routine with this explanation alone, thank you!
Hey! Thank you so much
Wow, I have to say, this is the most respectful, kind and informative review I’ve ever seen! Plus I learned as well, that’s why I hit the like button and subscribed. Please keep up with this style - kind & informative reviews 😌 Thank you!
Always! Thank you, Kate :)
You are so kind, Eva! Thank you :)
Just a question, what has been your experience with Caroline? Her workouts are incredibly effective IMO, but have you noticed any bulking?
@@_my_insomnia_blink562 No bulking dear, All my life have been lean, I had never excess weight, never have I been on a diet,
Just in my 50's now have managed to have the muscle definition that I used to have in my twenties,
It’s like on one hand yes, do what works for you.
🎉 can’t wait to see the Q&A
Absolute facts! Thank you :)
@bianca zelaya please try Caroline Girvan's and Sydney Cumming's videos. They are amazing.
I used to follow her workout calendar consistently and never really expected to build muscle, but the workouts did tone my body. I always expected it to be more like yoga, which is the outcome of doing her workouts. I don’t follow her on tiktok, but I never felt like she was implying her workouts would make my muscles larger
Gotta do what's best for you :)
I agree, it can be so dangerous! No need to apologise, I appreciate your input. Thank you :)
Thank you! I'm so happy that you're here too and I appreciate you
I'm also one of those who did her older videos a lot.
I get that!
I think this is fair enough!
I think many content creators are, sadly!
NO LONGER "TICKLING" THE 30K SUBSCRIBER MARK!!!!! F-ING AWESOME!!!!!
Bloody splendid!
I don't disagree :)
I am recovering from an eating disorder and I love your channel so much. Wrong information and unhealthy information definitely is horrible and plays on people's self esteem and worth. All bodies are amazing
I'm proud of you, Dani. Just know I'm always here if you need somebody to talk to
You are so respectful in your criticism
I try to be!
It's a bit of a grey area but I appreciate this
You just earned a subscriber!
Thank you so much
Congrats on the 30k! Hope you reached your like goal! Unfortunately I was busy and couldn't watch it right away.
This video was great and very informative, and I did learn something new. Thank you :)
Btw, you were probably just joking about your ears (ofc you have normal ears that did not stand out for me in this video) but one thing I heard that meant a lot to me was "Don't say things about yourself that make you feel weak" (or bad/self conscious). I was in the habit of criticizing myself so that others wouldn't I guess but I realized it's not a healthy thing to do. Things stick with you even if you're the one saying them.
If I misunderstood the comment I apologize. It was probably light hearted. But it stood out to me. :)
Have a great week and keep doing what you're doing
Thank you! Haha, it's ok :) You're a good person and I appreciate you
It's actually scary the amount of misinformation is put on the internet for tha sake of getting more views. It's really easy to trick someone with any account on any platform. Morality and responsability are lost with these type of influencers
It really is!
Thank you for this video, finally I understand why I only feel her arm workouts in my shoulders! Thought I was doing them wrong
It's my pleasure :)
Agreed!
I LOVE how you explain things!! everything makes sense.
She is actually one of the first fitness influencers I started watching back in the days, and I actually thought rolling my arms etc was making me stronger, because it hurt my muscles. Maybe for a beginner it works because it require so little muscle stimuli in the beginning, but I can't believe one can progressive overload these exercises over a longer period of time 🤷♀️
In theory, most things will work if you're new to training but it's great that she got you into fitness :)
I had the exact same experience... So glad I know better now 😅
it's strange, cause even if she isn't into weights she does sell different resistance band sets as part of her brand. so she at least doesn't think you should have no resistance for your arm workouts.
@Lorena Treichler ah, did not know that. I just bought her bands cause they seemed nice. Also I’ve never done Pilates, but I did barre and we still involved light weight for arm work.
That is a bit wild
Sidenote she hass lost a lot of waight and had already some muscle by loosing waight they show off more, so her physic was build already from the many years of training
Ah, I see!
@9:10 learned something new here, thanks. I subbed.
Thank you :)
I think what Cassey is trying to say is that she's not against weight training, but you shouldn't go crazy behind body building anf all that
Oh, I know it happens, I know many women who have experienced this, sadly. I guess it depends on the goals :)
I'm due to explore her UA-cam soon!
I appreciate you, Rebecca
hi Harry, i have a question, so most people say that you should stretch after a workout but home much does stretching help with muscle soreness after a workout? i've seen someone people say DOMS cannot be prevented by stretching but others say the opposite - figured I'd ask the pro! thanks :)
Trainer here and I wanted to chime in but maybe this’ll still be comment question of the week who knows. Stretching after a workout is not entirely necessary. I will do some light stretching after a particularly hard session, but it’s also now known that just ending the workout/leaving is ok too. Now regarding DOMS, I wouldn’t say stretching prevents it, however, 2 things:
@TFNL anything to chime in/change?
Hope any of that helped a bit!
I think Ana pretty much nailed it (thank you)!
@@TFNL I wanted to make sure you saw since it was addressed to you and oof, I’ve had other trainers undermine me before so I wanted to make sure I wasn’t unintentionally doing that.
I wish I had discovered your channel earlier! You're videos are so informative so thank you!
If it was just like tinder, your account would be deactivated. Bad friend, I know, please forgive me I couldn't help myself 😂
Love how she calls out toxic gym culture after writing condescending captions insulting people who don't agree with her or the misinformation she spreads. Tbh her views on what constitutes as 'results' are so different than mine that I've never paid any attention to her.
WOW, that was an attack :(
Oh man not even 5 mins in and I’ve already learned something new.
This is good! :)
I remember I used to do her workouts when I was really young, it got me into fitness but for the wrong reasons
At least it got you started :)
New subscriber here! Wow great vid! Very Informative and i like how you explain which exercises targets specific muscles 👏🏻
Thank you! :)
Harry
You should review a person that does bodyweight excises that you do like.
Would be interesting to see what you pick
This could certainly be included as part of another video! :)
@@TFNL please review lilly Sabri, she seems amazing
I used to love her exercises it was fun but yeah, lately I find her exercise too weird and not doing anything to me. It's still fun for starting out exercise but I need to move on from her now
I respect this
Question: how important is sleep in growing muscle?
More than 95% of people think it is!!
@@Moose92411 thank you
very
VERY! :)
It helps in recovery i think so very important
Our next exercise were going to breathe in and out.
Haha!
I think a deep-dive is needed! Have you looked at Caroline Girvan's home workouts? I'm not too familiar with many creators that focus on pilates
I used to like blogilates, but she really seems to have some body image issues and not a great relationship with food, and it impacts her followers.
This is always sad to read
I wouldn't be shocked, sadly
These current "workouts" are just weird and have misinformation, some of them just give the wrong impression while technically correct. Pilates can be a great workout when done correctly. Currently for me pilates is one of the only forms of exercise that I can do. For me pilates definitely helps with posture and back pain. Most of the exercises need control in your core which automatically helps.
I don't think any of the movements she showed in this video were something I would use in workout. They don't really work, unless you use them as a warm up.... That being said her older videos are much better and actually useful. I have largely stopped following her since I get such diet/fad culture vibes from her currently.
I agree and I've heard this a few times before!
Man I was gonna argue with you until I saw how you were actually very respectful and sensible in critiquing her videos. Kudos to you ;)
Thank you :)
Harry sometimes I wish you would also describe the benefits of an exercise from a cardio/weight loss approach. Love your content!
I can certainly do this! Thank you :)
The intro gets me hyped every time‼️
The Mass Effect vibes!
I learned something today, so I subscribed! 😊😊
Thank you! :)
I used to love blogilates several years ago. She’s changed over the last few years and I don’t like what she promotes.
I've heard this!
Calling someone toxic is another way to shut people up
Maybe!
for months now, i have been waiting for someone to call her out again. my wish has come true!
I am here!
Look at daddy bumping that like goal up to 1000 and already almost there within 5 hours 👏👏

I guess that's just how UA-cam works these days!
@@TFNL honestly!
