Most underrated console of all time. It had it's flaws, of course, but it was still impressive for the time. Seems obscure, but it was able to go online, which was a massive deal at that time. The controllers were one of a kind and innovative. You'd never think it was one of the products to tank the company. It was solid competition. Too expensive and too small of a library was what sealed the coffin.

    • @STAXONDECK1

Sega was deep in the red before the system launched, it was of no fault of the system as it was the best Sega ever made and it’s library was huge quilalitt title in one and half year of full support got more games than the Wii U

The Dreamcast was competing with the PS1. (And blows it out of the water) While the PS2 was being worked on, it wouldn't be released until the Dreamcast was already dead. You can't compete with a product that doesn't exist/hadn't been released.
The Dreamcast was a gem. And Sega of Japan killed their console game. Still wanting to focus on replicating the "Arcade Experience" that, while still relevant in Japan, had died out in North America. (Likely why the Neo Geo lasted so long in Japan) As well as being jealous over their US departments success.

This is one of the greatest consoles of all time. It was definitely way ahead of everybody else. Really makes you wonder how different the gaming industry would be nowadays if the system got the recognition it deserved and took off compared to PlayStation and Xbox

The Dreamcast was way ahead of it’s time.
First console to have online gaming.
It was a great console. but sadly it had flaws like overheating problems and disc drive problems. I should know I must have bought almost 8 of them you would think I’d give up after the forth but that’s how much I loved theSega Dreamcast.

It didn’t come out in competition to the PS2. It was out first. And it was fucking awesome. Still my favorite console to this day. SOOOOOUUUUUUULLLLLL CALIBUUUURRRRR

    Samba
    De
    Amigo
It’s the best Dreamcast game in my opinion. The soundtrack slaps, it mixes Brazil with Mexico very well!

Even if the Dreamcast didn't do well I think it had a lot of cool ideas and amazing accessories for the console like the VMU

The dreamcast I so cool, the controller and the vmu are way ahead of its time, I think its a shame that other companies didn't try this feature out, can you imagen nintendo made a vmu for pokemon where you can carry them around with you and train them like a digimon and then be able to put them back into your pokemon game

It was the only system that I ever pre-ordered. I still plug it in and play it to this day.

Was actually one of the first consoles that had a web browser as well. It was a great system that came out at the wrong time.

I remember after the vmu came out and Sony released the Pocketstation. I love mine. Many happy memories leveling up my FF8 Chocobo and my Street Fighter Alpha 3 characters.

If I remember correctly, the Dreamcast controller was the first to have variable rate triggers without going third party.

Great console, I remember getting the Japanese import and completing Sonic Adventures in Japanese.
Joined the military came home on leave to find my parents had binned the system and games, along with my mega drive and mega CD.
That was 20 years ago and I’ve still not forgiven them!

SEGA dident reliase Dreamcast in competition to the Playstation 2. SEGA was allways the first company to reliase the next gen console, it just happend that way. SEGA thought they could take the marketshare before the market got overfilled with other upcoming video game consoles.
