Again Great video! I know, you cant test every single CPU.. but it would be great if you could through in a 5900x or 5950x for comparison to see how much you performance you loose with a top tier am4 CPU.
Thanks for the video 👍 Going from 12600k to 14900k you're also gonna have to change the CPU cooler though, which might turn out to be quite pricey and complicated (e.g. incompatible PC case). PSU might become an issue as well if it was adjusted for the 12600. But it does spare the MOBO upgrade.
@theTechNotice I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP. I'm building a pc and I can't decide about cpu. What would you suggest for video editing (davinci) i7 14700k or ryzen 9 7950x ? I'm planning to use rtx 4080 super. Your answer would be appreciated :)
I'm surprised you didn't mention the benefits of the Intel CPU's with iGPU's for those working in h264 or h265 since the media engine can decode those leading to much better timeline performance over AMD. That's why I'll be upgrading my 5950X to Arrow Lake... possibly. Might just grab the 14900K if I can find one for a deal.
So if I were to build a PC from scratch would you go 13700k or 7700x (for it's upgradeability on AM5) - I would pair this with my spare 4070 Ti I have laying around. Also I would mostly use this for 4K video.
Ok i have an rtx 4090, r9 5900x, and 32GB DDR4 (8x4) resolve studio… i use fusion and effects alot, lots of recaching…. whats my best bang for buck move? 1) upgrade to 64gb ddr4? 2) Upgrade to 128gb ddr4? 3) upgrade to AM5 (7900/7950x?) along with 64gb ddr5?
By any chance are you gonna do a GPU for DaVinci one, as well? Is the quality of life better now with AMD using DaVinci? I remember years ago you lasted a week with it, but a few videos ago you said you recommend it now. What changed?
@@theTechNotice Why that far away? LOL! Can't wait - 'hope you can compare a lot of gpus - from both nvidia and amd - nvidia 30 series, 40 series vs amd rdna 3 cards (in particular) - rdna 2 cards don't seem to perform very well? I'm shopping (hoping to buy) a gpu but can't decide - I already have an Intel 12700k from when 12th gen came out and Quick Sync was a benefit compared to AMD's AM4. So, that cpu comparison was interesting. I'll shut up now. C'mon, May 2nd! :)
@@theTechNotice I really appreciate it! If you could, simply just mention how each card scrubs through the timeline for the cards that are the most popular? I find my 5900x and 3070 have an issue scrubbing through in DaVinci so I’m trying to build a more reliable PC
I have a 7950X and a ProArt X670E motherboard. I’ve been less than thrilled with its performance in rendering and gaming. Is it worth considering selling them and going with a 13700k system with the newer Z790 proart board, or should I stick with the 7950X? I don’t even game on the system anymore as I have a SFF 13600K system on an MSI mITX board that I use for that.

Is there a reason you pick the lest common i5 variant i5-12600K, instead of the more common i5-12500? Is it because you want all the CPU to be unlocKed?
Yes the cheapest performance has been paying $300 directly for the license, which I recommend. This was the first software I paid in a very long long time, outside of games. The results are odd, why would a 14700k be slower than a 13700k? The 14700k has more cores and faster clock.
Yeah the 14700K slower than a 13700K makes no sense? I'd go back and re-test as this can't be a valid test. The 14700K clocks higher, has more e-cores and has a slightly better memory controller for faster ram. I don't buy these results. Furthermore nearly every benchmark I've seen online from other testers puts the 14700K tied w/ the 13900K or comes very very close which was the reason I opted for it over the 13900K cuz it runs cooler and uses less pwr. Imo the 14700K is the sweet spot cpu in the current line up.
Are these results that scientific? 5200MT/s - 5600MT/s, 6000MT/s, XMP - EXPO on or off? Apart from the ECC kits surely the only hardware to change is the CPU and motherboard
Would be interesting to know where Apple SOCs are in comparison.
