- Rage Against The Machine was one of the biggest rock bands in the 1990s and the early 2000s, but infighting between band members quickly led to the group's demise.

I got to meet Zack personally while doing a food delivery.
Talk about being 100%, definitely Zack. Superstardom hasn't gone to his head nor his ego- he is quite humble. I had just lost my wife 2-3 weeks prior; Zack and I were just talking, he literally noticed I wasn't really 100% emotionally.
I told him what had happened- Zack literally gave me a great hug of friendship.
As a fan- " Zack please get RATM into full swing.

4 years between album releases is a long time.
Tool: Hold my beer.
It’s actually pretty long when your first album goes platinum.
There’s pressure from the label and the fans for new music ASAP. That’s usually why 2nd album is often less well received because bands are tempted to release tracks that didn’t make the first cut or songs written between shows on tour without taking the time to let them mature a bit.
Why does he need someone to hold his beer? He's not doing anything.

The reason their albums came out in 1992, 1996, and 2000 was because those were all election years.
Battle of Los Angeles came out in 1999
All political act. Also, why else hire Michael Moore to direct a music video? Politics aside, his production style is low budget porn. In the application process, NYC told Moore everything he needed to be allowed to shoot, he chose to only get permission to be on the steps to cause that drama. Rage's actions at NYSE had nothing to do with making a video and everything to do with politics and proving they had Red Cred.
No cooincidence...
@@FIAhead11 Michael Moore is barely qualified to manage a hot dog eating contest.
Musicians political views are not well thought out, just emotional nonsense. Is it rage against the machine or rage against republicans? Both Republicans and Democrats are a part of the government machine.
I’ve been fortunate to see RATM live 3 times over the past 20 years. Each time was something awesome. I’ve been to well over a hundred rock shows. RATM easily sits in the top five.
I have only seen RAGE live once in I think it was the 1996 the Lollapalooza where Metallica headlined and the bill included The Ramones, Soundgarden and Screaming Trees and Rancid. And yes Rage Against the Machine is definitely one of the best concerts I have ever experience. Awesome live act.

They can't even argue their political hypocrisy anymore with a straight face.
“The group had their first gig in October 1991 at California State University Northridge.”
I wonder if Serj Tankian went and saw them as he was in his senior year there when they went. It seems like something he’d do.
I think Serj graduated in 89 so he just missed them. I’m going to CSUN though so it’s cool I’m going to the place Serj went and where Rage played their first show
Michael Schneider Ah, I guess the source I got the year from was wrong. Thanks for correcting me. ^.^
"conflict between different members"
Translation: conflict between Zack and everyone else.
One of my first jobs I had a manager who always said he knew Zach. One day we were talking about music and he was something like Rage is breaking up and what happened at the music awards was part of it but also Zach's mom was sick or died. It couldn't have been more than a week after the mtv thing. Thanks for this video, you validated that story and brought back memories for me!

For as much as I love RATM, I must have never read so much as an article, or interview with them. I had no idea there was so much inner turmoil. I always assumed they were like a super close-knit band of brothers. Kind of wish I never heard about this, as it'll definitely come to mind when I listen to them. But, it is what it is, and they made some music that will stand the test of time.
Take it for what it is, they are each passionate individuals with similar but obviously differing visions on many things. It's likely that this relationship contributed to the raw, menacing, and unique sound that is Rage. It was the perfect storm, and we can be thankful it toiled long enough to put out 4 records and many live shows. Saw them last weekend and it was EPIC, didn't think I'd ever get to see them. Cheers.

They were supposedly against anything mainstream but they were signed to one of the biggest record label sony/epic, made millions by selling that gimmick.
'Yawn' this pitch is so exhausted and never made sense in the first place. Right wing Trumptards are terrified of the widespread energy a band like this would create if they reunited.
And don't forget all ratm videos were heavy rotation on mtv back in the 90s, the lead singer is married to a supermodel and he's living in a 20 million dollar home in hollywood hills with the rest of rich assholes. Look at their band members, full of scumbags who cheats on their wives. Fake wannabe commie, fake anti establishment money grubbing assholes.

13:36 sums it up perfectly. "Instead of waiting around for Rage Against The Machine. Go out there, form your own band. Let's hear what YOU have to say!"
Tom put it perfectly. The 90's are over, stop hoping for Zach to rejoin and revive "the good ol' days". You have a voice, you have opinions, play your music and make a change in YOUR world, if that's what stirs you.
As a musician highly influenced by Rage as they were one of 3 bands my dad played daily (Alice in Chains and System of a Down were the others) I disagree. Not everyone has the passion to make music, or unfortunately the talent. Some people just want to HEAR music that moves them. And it’s sad when a band you love can’t get their shit together long enough to make amazing music.
@@grantperkins1097 not everyone is a musician. But everyone does have a voice, an opinion and can have an impact on the world. If everyone sits around waiting for Zach to come back with a microphone, we'll be waiting for a very long time. Instead, be the change you want to see, instead of waiting for a hero to do it for you.
Ratel.H Badger I hear you loud and clear. But everyone’s “voice” doesn’t lie in music. It could be paintings, social organizations, poetry, politics, etc.. So those people may be doing exactly what you said, not in musical form. Is it wrong for them to wish their favorite bands to continue making the music that lead them down their own passionate journey?
@@grantperkins1097 I was more, arguing against sitting around doing nothing, waiting for someone else to do something.
Ratel.H Badger I know you’re point brother. I’m not trying to argue in a confrontational manner. Just debate my point. I feel like Tom meant his statement quite literally, though. Literally go make your own music. Not just let your beliefs manifest themselves into productive actions in whatever form they may take.
