@@Mikethompson303 What is communism? In your words.
RATM is one of the most disappointing bands that I have ever loved. Back in the 90’s I would give just about anything to see them live and was very disheartened whenever they stopped performing together. Now, decades later they are back performing. But with that, comes insanely high ticket prices, and even more disheartening than that is their hook line and sinker following of the authoritarian state agenda. The lyrics spoke to millions of people that wanted to rise against tyrants and seek out freedom over any form of oppression, yet their current actions and support of political parties who seek control over the people go against the image that they originally put forth.
That's exactly how I feel. $125 a ticket. What a ripoff.
Literally you're just confused and upside down about where tyranny lies in our society, and it's really pathetic for you. RATM literally stand for all the same things they always have. It's you idiots who watched to much propaganda Fox News and Newsmax and now can tell up from down. You also all spend all day on the internet crying about celebrities you hate, which is super pathetic. Maybe if you got off the internet and got a life, that would help with the whole being in touch with reality thing.
High prices started as soon as the dumb streaming happened. Bands used to make their money off album sales CDs, vinyl. I still only buy CDs and have been telling ppl this for years .

Rage with the machine
This was a question many years ago before the band went on to endorse high end products.
Didn't someone from the band sue because of IHOP?
F corporate rockers like RATM.
That's true. But Tom made up a sob story and fed it to the press. $125 a ticket. These guys only care about money.
Hell yeah.
They became the machine. Became the man.
The machine has tactics to manipulate us .
Any one in music or Hollywood who gets famous are part of the machine, they are put there by the machine.
mid to late 80's congress was pulling rock stars before them to testify on what their lyrics meant.
after the 92 riot at the metallica concert was when it all changed.
only garbage music was allowed to be played on mtv or the radios from that point forward sure it took them a while to filter out the older music but they eventually did.
after that riot yup they were allowed to perform what they were told was acceptable.
big part of "and justice for all" album was mainly about rockers having a boot put on their work.
MTV always played pop (popular) music. The only thing congress wanted was a warning sticker on album covers. You obviously don't know shit.

He preaches a marxist doctrine, but sure doesn't live by it. A full time capitalist. A hypocrite, and overated guitarist. A one trick pony.
This is why SOAD will always be better, they might have their own political ways of thinking, but it never influences the band as a whole, its always been "fuck the gov and fuck the rich" with soad.
Amen
What a weird comparison
Meh, just another rock group with people you don't know personally. Why do people hold artists to such high esteem? I am extremely skeptical of holding anyone on that kind of pedestal, especially after the last 3 years or so. Also Serj mentions he cant understand why John (drummer) supports Trump. That alone really makes me question what Serj and the band stand behind since they haven't really been critical of current events as far as I can tell. Regardless of how you feel politically, if someone can't see how bad things are currently as far as war, economy, crime, poverty, media corruption, etc etc then I don't really think they should be stepping in the political ring. SOAD has had PLENTY of topics to write music about and call out current events but they still can't be bothered. Don't get me wrong, I like their music every once in a while but I can't take them seriously when it comes to anything political. Honestly, after the last 3 years, people should know better than to idolize celebrities. Usually they only say whatever the money tells them to say and as a result they are usually just as much if not more biased and uniformed than many other independent sources.
@@raulfigueroa588 Not really, both bands definitely get political and if I'm not mistaken RATM is part of some political group which SOAD is also a member of. I would say in many ways that they are peers in the rock scene even if their music sounds different, I just think RATM is a little more overtly political.
@@musicman9901 RATM is definitely more overtly political. SOAD music has political commentary and undertones but are much less specific about it, for the most part.

A lot of fellow rockers sounded off on ROBOTM's vaccine stances. Why didn't Tom clear the air then and before that when they were arising? Rage IS APART of the machine.
I remember when Dave Grohl fell off the stage, broke his leg, went to get a cast, then came back and finished the same show... I went to an as I lay dying show when their bassist had a broken ankle, he just sat down and played instead... also, does he think we all just forgot about them and the vaccine?
He's an actual performer.
I get your point, but a ruptured Achilles tendon is very different from a broken bone, especially as severe as he claims this one to be. I am not a doctor, but I do know that. I don’t know about the vaccine thing, but if that is true, that is messed up.

his riffs are like something you would write the first day picking up a guitar. They guy can barely play.
My favourite is his criticism of people critical of Meg white. Saying drummers don’t need to be flamboyant when his guitar style is probably the most in your face and loud there is

I was disappointed that RATM postponed their tour in 2020. If they truly are against big government, they should've protest, encourage their fans protest also, and they should've know, it was fear tactics. There were some people know about it, but they were name called, bullied, and silent. Rage is one of the bands I want to see live. I don't know if it is going to happen.

B.S. If that really was the case, they should have been loud and clear about it back then.
I played bass in a RATM tribute band when I was about 19. It was fun, but I look back on that band, and it just seems infantile to me. Their politics, their music and their image is precisely what I liked as a teenager who lacked world experience. If you like this band in your 30s, it's time to grow up.

Was very fortunate to see RATM in Vancouver for Evil Empire Tour at Plaza Of Nations right at the waterfront across from BC Place stadium. Less than 100 fans were there they played 7 songs the energy was incredible can still see the band members onstage in my memory think about it every day. The Concert date was Sep 7th 1996.

I don't understand all these comments saying they're part of the machine? They didn't mandate vaccinations, they're donating to charities? What exactly are they "complying" with?
I bought tickets to RATM a few years back. The concert kept getting postponed and then canceled. I was pissed! However I highly doubt RATM ever implemented the vaccine mandate at the concert venue where I bought my tickets. It was the venue itself.
That's what I keep telling these ghouls. A) My unvaxed ass got to see them in MSG no problem, B) Even if there was a mandate, NO ARTIST anywhere had any say in what the venues required, C) Searched every avenue and no member ever said/did anything pro mandate. Only statement out there is Morello saying RATM has never required anyone to have any kind of vax to get in their shows. This is the actual evidence but they don't care

I saw them in Aug 2022 -- they sounded great and I very much enjoyed the show. At that point there was no vax requirement at the venue I saw them in (if there had been one I would not have gone). Whether or not they ever did that -- no clue. Obviously, their political views are at odds with the business model of being in a band in a capitalist system. Doesn't matter how the Tom and the band spin it. That said -- the left-side of the "machine" represents everything they claim to rage against.
