It's so true, I bought on the deal and am in love, absolutely love. Thank you for making my board so much better. Softer, more powerful, beautiful, just fantastic.
Very happy with the MTE 5" hub. It's the best upgrade I've made to my GT. It really helps you navigate the bumps and cracks you encounter while riding. The extra torque is definitely a plus!
I do hope you’ll run this when the N52 is in stock for GT’s. I’m signed up for notifications and I haven’t seen it come back in stock yet. When Jeff says you want N52 for your GT-S then that means I gotta wait.
This! I had the same question. If I had to guess, 655 could be for the extended rails so you can maximize the extra space in the middle with more "meat". My question is, if it is a bigger tire in circumference, would that increase or decrease top end speed? However, those numbers may not mean what I think they mean.
Just as the CBXR was *THE* upgrade to have in the XR days, the MTE answers a similar demand today. I am fully confident that I would not be able to do what I can on a board with a 6" hub, let alone a 6.5. MTE forever!!!
New into is a dub!! Teasing the footpad hard too. I would love to talk with Jeff for a bit about my situation and the potential to switch to vesc. Great vid!
First, I love the new intro, I've been meaning to say that. Second, can we get rain checks for the n52 hubs? 😅 I keep whiffing on them. I'm in the Clydesdale range of rider and would like to get more of that torque, and as I'm not a speed demon, losing it at the top end doesn't phase me in the slightest. 😅
Thanks for the vid, I have been wondering what the real difference is. I was thinking it would be worse on the trails but now I see them side by side I can see that it would be so much better for trails. Kind of sucks that I already got two extra tires for the larger rim already.
@thefloatlife any chance these are water tight? Homie just put mine in a lake. Going to pull the stator tonight but seems like they are pretty sealed up.
Wondering about the difference in rim size and magnet strength what effects it has on mile logging and secondly battery range. Newish to these so if it’s a wonky question forgive me. I would assume higher the torque the Lower the range of the ride also. Something I’m sure many folks wouldn’t care much about for the low to mid range bang. I re gear all my motorcycles with -1/+2 combo to get the same effect with those. Seems very similar. Perhaps since you go down on the rim size it equals out closer with battery range. Something to know for sure
I have an XR CLASSIC. What option is there available for that? Also I need a battery upgrade cause it sucks. I need somebody to teach me how to trick it out.
My MTE with N52 magnets weighs 2341g. My stock GT hub 3139 g including life savers. The enduro 5”soft weighs in at 1554g whereas the FM Perf treaded is 1561g
do you guys have data on the increased Torque of the 52 and 48 magnets? the extra sidewall is great but I'm really after more torque being 6'2" 235lbs. I see the Superflux Motor published 80Nm+ on their MkII high torque motor. I dont expect the MTE to be that high but id would be nice to see what kind of increase we might expect by upgrading. Thanks guys and great job!
@TheFloatLife His site recommends, or I think they only go with the N48 magnets on the GTS. He's flying setting times on strava. I really wonder what's the best option for the gts the N52 or 48's. Guess I'd have to ride them side by side. It would be mostly for Granite Bay trails and lake Natoma loop at 210lbs
Maaaan... I've been out of OW for like a year due to a back injury, and now shit's all different. Sounds like I need to order up an N52 hub for my VESC'd Plus. Heavier rider, 16s pack, I love riding trails and really billy-goating my board at low speed.
Damn it Jeff! My TFL Shopping cart currently has $1,000 in merch waiting to checkout... Most of it is to make my stock PintX fit in with my 4 TFL XRs. So are you suggesting I drop the WTF Pint rails and go BTG on my CBXR trail board? Where do I even get a motor for that? I would rather add a motor to cart before cannibalizing the XR hub. I'm building a VESC controller. I have everything I need to complete a build from scratch except the hub/motor/tire. Edit: 8:21 Anyone else notice the EMS siren go off in the background after Jeff said, "I don't think going 40+ miles an hour on a GTS is a good idea anyways." 🤣 Even God agrees... 🙏 Edit2: Removed Pint X WTFs from cart but I still got the Kush Nug Hi and enduro for now. The MTE purchase for my CBXR is more practical and justifiable. Went with the 655, N48, steel red bearings. Since you don't sell the ceramics in red. I wonder if I should have got the more nimble 555 but then again, that's what the Pint X with enduro is for.
@@TheFloatLife it should make a difference since it takes more energy to move the N52 magnets.. there is more pull and less free spin so the motor has to push slightly harder. it's why you lose top speed. rpms go down because of the higher attraction to the magnets.
@wong1659 Yeah, talk about a straight dick move that was so blatantly obvious that even Stevie Wonder could see FutureMotion's 2D chess moves through 5% Limo Tint. FFM's anti-consumer decision to make larger proprietary hubs/tires had a bigger negative effect for the community than it created a positive NET gain for FFM financially. Likewise, FM also powder coated GT rails, which is an insulator, when they should have ceramic coated the rails to prevent the boards from overheating. Are these results of poor marketing decisions or are the FM engineers so drunk with power that they wouldn't think we would notice? I hate to project the crimes of the Government onto the shoulders of FM but you have to ask yourself, "When should I consider departing from a toxic relationship?" Whether it's a relationship with Uncle Sam & Aunt Karen or a relationship with FutureMotion. Toxicity only breads more toxicity.
I've been looking for ever for one of these hubs available for sale (for an XR). Always *SOLD* *OUT* ... has anyone got any information about availability? Thanks
What is the difference between the 555 Enduro and the 655 Enduro in the 5" offerings. Which is closer to stock width? I have the original compound Enduro on my GT. Which compound, soft Vs mid corresponds to the original compound?
mid 655 is going to be closest to the stock tire profile. the 555 is more nimble because of its decreased width, the 655 is more stable because it is 6 inches wide
Soft is the original compound, Mid was added mostly for those who are willing to sacrifice a bit of that comfort for some extra durability. But if you're looking to stick with the same compound as your current tire, Soft is the way for sure 👌
@@nicoaleman Good to know, thanks. I was willing to jump in for more torque but since the N52 is sold out, I'll wait for my tire to need replacement before I do it now. PS, I'm a fan of your competition videos.

You’re talking aluminum vs rubber, there has to be some weight savings, no?! I got mine coming this weekend so maybe I’ll do a video for you guys!
What about the range on gts? My friend who is 20kgs less than me and has onewheel gt just bought this n48mte, but now he has the same range as me with stock hub on my gts (100kgs)
I love the MTE but since converting to VESC with a SuperFlux motor I can't run a 5 inch wheel. I would love to run a 5 inch but not at the expense of having to go back to a Hypercore.
More rubber on that sidewall is great but it’s also time for the industry to consider bigger diameter tires AND shocks as has been done in MTBs. Of course, the bigger diameter tire would necessitate bigger opening in frame/rails for it.
Shocks will be awesome when they come out. The problem is FM has patented a bunch of different shock designs so basically no one else can design anything with linkage for a one wheel
@@TheFloatLife As you’re probably aware, there’s a guy who makes and sells a single mount OW shock but I’ve yet to try one. Maybe you should partner up.

I just want to know if I'm a trail rider, is this really that much better than 555. I like nimble, but need stable
655 = 11.5x6.5x5 (standard width)
555 = 11x5.5x5” (1/2” smaller, 1” thinner)
