- Ten years ago, the first Onewheel prototypes could barely ride around the parking lot. Today, hundreds of thousands of riders enjoy the experience worldwide. It's been a wild ride and a lot of fun. Together, we've created a culture and a boardsport that few could have imagined possible. A decade strong and more to come. To celebrate, we went back into the archives to create a short documentary of the journey.
Thanks to all the riders that have made this movement so special and here's to many more years ahead.

I get compliments and conversation about my XR 100% of the time I'm out on it. It is the best feeling I've ever felt on any board. Love my Onewheel more than any of my other possessions. Thank you for changing the world and my life by inventing this wonderful machine. Congratulations on 10 years!
I just wish for more openness. Having any shop fix your board is essential!

Seriously, the Onewheel has been so good for me physically and mentally I am in love but it’s like having a really nice day but remembering your step dad is waiting for you at home and he’s gonna beat you for buying his board. The attitude in our local Onewheel community (which is sizable) is “f*******k I have to deal with FM” and someone steps in and suggests a reputable PEV shop and they sigh with relief. FM consumer policies sound like they’re written by a guy who you KNOW you shouldn’t have lent your money too but says he’s good for it. I feel like they should just sell their accessories and even Onewheels out of reputable shops since after 10 years they’re still afraid to take a return. I think they’re afraid to lose money by being good to their customers but now most of them want nothing to do with them after they get the board.

Congratulations on 10 years Onewheel! I am so proud of being a Onewheel Rider here in Iowa! I dont know where I would be in life mentally right now if it wasnt for Onewheel! There is no better feeling in the world than riding on my GT. Thank you Kyle and team for making the world a better place!

The latest Pint X firmware update bringing the Pint S software upgrade absolutely embodies the spirit and goals that were the cornerstone of the creation of Future Motion. Took a little while but I am super thankful they did it!
Thank you OneWheel!!! My first board was the GT, then won a GTS from Craft&Ride but the main reason I bought it was for something to clear my head after a long day… and that did not disappoint.
The product has been a life saver for my mental health, and the community is amazing!!!

Life changing for sure. There are very few things I would consider to have a permanent place in my existence and this is one of them. I will ALWAYS own a Onewheel. Thanks for making it and I look forward to the future versions.
This video makes me a little sad. It reminds me why I jumped in with both feet, but the last couple years have pushed me away. I’m optimistic others will pick up torch and keep us all floating for years to come.
I've been riding since the kickstarter days, on my third board, and dearly love every moment of it. I look forward to the next ten years with Onewheel!

Recuerdo que hace unos años amaba ver los vlogs de onewheel de gente usando la patineta y viajando por todo el mundo contando sus historias y experiencias, literalmente para mi era terapéutico ver que esto existía, algo tan simple como una tabla y una rueda de hule podía darte tantas emociones, tanto experimentarlo en vivo como verlo desde la perspectiva de otra persona. I started the eskate hobby like Jun 1st 2023. With the backfire zealot s, then upgrade to an Mboards Endurance, January 2024.
Then i was able to snag an Xr for like 1k. With some extra foot pads and accessories. Im very excited to start learning. Lets see how things go by next year.

Started on a used V1 i bought for $500 with like 279 miles on it in 2018. On my 7th board now and loving the GT-S!

Not a boardsport until you can work on your own board, using standardized tools, or take it to the board shop for repairs and upgrades, or DIY mods. Until then its a company town, watching you lawyer up and commercialize af a great idea.
Safety? Then why doesn't the GT have gradient tracking? Convice people to get hapic buzz in exchange for gt on GT.
I will never forget riding my first board the pint for the first time niether will my legs😂😂rocking gt now with my gts in a fedex truck coming in hot 🎉🎉

I have loved my XR and Pint for 5 years now. One of the funnest things I have ever done. That you FM for such a fun product. Someday I will even upgrade to the GT S-series. The stoke is very real. ---0--

I wish I could fix my randomly unresponsive GT without having to pay you guys to fix it! Excited for the community to eventually get to that point where we own our devices! Floatwheel's new drop-in kit is looking FIRE right about now!!
We just rolled out a ton of individual parts and components on our site to help folks fix or replace parts on their own. Could be worth a look if your board is out of warranty and you'd like to fix it yourself. Cheers
Still my favourite thing in the whole world, and the GTS has been the best of the best.
Riding a OneWheel over hard sand is like using the real hoverboard from Back to the Future II. One of the best experiences of my whole life.
I have my GTS waiting for my Land-Surf Fangs and Bash Bumpers to be ridden for the first time but they are still out of stock at the place I bought them from (not directly from Land-Surf).
I cannot wait to hit the beach at Ogunquit, ME and become Marty again! ❤️🩷🩵⭐️☮️

This vehicle/device call it what you want, but it was inevitable! Every group of pothead skaters has one member who at some point imagined this very thing or something similar. But the "OneWheel" is fundamentally mandatory so 100's if not 1000's have conjured up this base line design. There will be many variations but this one will rule supreme.
Hate that I missed the first ten years, but I’m full in now.

Riding onewheels changed my life forever. I expected a fun toy but instead I got a tool for mental well being and community involvement. I never expected to find something that would connect me with so many new people.
Forever grateful for the existence of Onewheel, only wish I had started sooner. But I know this is just the beginning of what’s to come. 🤙

Such a great product. Just a shame FM has made so many customers hate them. I didn’t really understand why people hated them so much until I couldn’t do something as simple as swapping a battery between two of the exact same board models and versions. That’s when I understood why.

OW GT was my first and 2 years later I still LOVE this thing. Bought a Pint X to live in the frunk of my car for charging sessions. Give me a GTS with more range and I’ll add a third one to the fleet!

I remember when i got mine when i was thirteen, it was a pint and i remember begging my mom everyday to get a Onewheel and i finally ended up getting one. it was actually a life changer, it would help my mom out so much, she didn't have to take me to so much places. the drive from school was 30mins each day and my mom ended up always being late to work now there's no worry. Thank you One wheel ❤

retired, and bought a Miata and a Onewheel... I've put over 20,000 miles on my Onewheel(s) and 16,000 on my Miata! All I do with my Miata is carry my Onewheel to my next adventure!

As an owner of 3 OW’s, it would be so wonderful if Future Motion was as wholesome and down to earth as this video portrays them. They treat objects like women, man. Eventually FM will be surpassed by other companies making equipment for our sport. The sport Kyle started is much more than just future motion and will continue without them.

Onewheel was the only thing that'd fix my craving for snowboarding and would get me thru the summer to the next snowboarding season. With release of GTs and its amazing performance on trails I am in love with summer time again and no longer thinking of ski resort ! Huge thanks to you guys !!!

What about all of the work Ben Smither and Trevor Blackwell did back in 2006-2010 that was the original design? I love all of my OneWheels, but it would show a little humility to at least give a head nod to the shoulders you stood on.
Now the only difference between Onewheel and board sports is your patent being locked down. Your move, FM. If you want to see this grow, you have to let it grow.
True i wouldn’t call onewheel a sport if one company has complete control over it
I will admit that Kyle is developing and advancing much faster than Henry Ford did. If I'm not mistaken, from 1903-1920 (17 years), the Model T didn't change much because of the limited competition. The OneWheel has changed drastically in 10 years. That being said, if we do not allow competition in this arena, we will not see the level of innovation we would experience if we had adequate competition.
This is the reason the MADDEN NFL FOOTBALL franchise hasn't innovated much since EA Sports "unalived" NFL2K5. All because they sold a better game for $20 less. (You heard that right!)
Those that don't know history are doomed to repeat it.
@@CayoticProphet yeah, at the end of the day, opening up onewheel and putting the patents in public domain would create a huge market which is required for mass adoption. Onewheel would be a competitor (with a huge head start, mind you), and you’d have other brands with similar products tailored to different purposes. Take skateboarding for example (A great example because onewheel and one of the major skateboard suppliers - NHS are both from Santa Cruz), skateboarding would have never been able to enter the mass adoption phase with just one brand making them.
Any hobby, board sport, market, industry, surrounds many businesses creating products (RC cars, skateboards, automotive, surfing, etc). If onewheel wants any of the above, they need to open up the market.
Sounds like you have no idea about IP and what it takes to start and run a similar company. I'm so happy that Kyle started the company he did and I wouldn't have done it any other way. Just laugh when I see whiners like yourself crying about something you have no clue about. Get a life dude

Just bought my first one wheel two months ago with the idea of getting out of my music studio and have some relaxing time outside in the world. It changed my life. I am a fan! Happy anniversary

Yeah, we’ve all already seen that one single, ancient clip of Ben’s chainsaw from way back in the year of our lord 2007 and a few comments of his from the same time period, including the one where he states that his design squarely violated Segways patent, which is why he never could patent it. That’s right, Ben Smithers intended on patenting his design, if he could have, which is the one thing Ben worshipping Kyle haters keep hating on Kyle for doing. 😂
Has anyone ever actually asked Ben Smithers what he thinks about Onewheel? In fact, does anyone even know who Ben Smithers is beyond that one grainy vid? Or, does anyone even know anyone who knows him? I’ve been asking that question for years and have yet to get a real answer.

Great stuff guys.... At 56 years old, i got the Pint, then upgraded to the XR and now the GT... I'm now 4 years into riding.. I love every ride and have done over 7,000 km's in total and never fails to put a smile on my dial!.... Thank you every much! :)

I'm an IT computer guy now, and my life isn't very sporty. This remains the best purchase I ever made in my life. I step out my front door, and I'm free. Milk runs, trips to the hardware store, doesn't matter. The mundane becomes adventure.
I originally purchased mine as a tool for the race track. 5 boards later its one of my favorite things in the world. I use mine every day with my son. Thank you guys!!
Can’t thank Onewheel enough for all the great times that my XRs have brought me and my family. My wife and I ride together all the time on trails at Winman and other places. My dad even got into riding mountain bikes now just so he can follow us around on our boards. One day we will get him on a Onewheel 😅 My XR has evolved just like your brand has and even though now the only original FM part on it is the hyper core since it’s running VESC software, I still thank you guys for designing the XR form factor which I still consider to be the best yet.

It truly can open your eyes to seeing differently. It’s certainly fun but there are so many layers beyond that. For me, it slows the pace of life and allows me to really feel the moment. That is special and so worthwhile.
And yet now what you did to onewheels is not optimistic in any way.

I have the original one .I’m not sure , my special one is the first onewhell in Italy . It work after a lot of years . I had try the new generation , plus , x , etc . . . Is better then my . But the special one is my special one. Great job, great fun

An American success story! Thanks for putting this together and taking all of us on this journey. Not to often you see the start of an idea go through the process of creating a market and then innovating to extend market reach. A company I’m proud to be behind!
Future Motion could be so much better if they actually had proper customer support and were supportive of the awesome companies that helped grow the sport like the Float Life. I’ve owned every wheel since Kickstarter to the GT but after this last bout of bad customer support I’m finally switching to VESC.
Changed my life. Literally switched careers because of it.
