Can't believe an AI presidents Pokemon Tier list is what's compelling me to play my first Pokemon game.

@@thunderblunder77 Are you high? Play Silver or Gold or Crystal. Gen 2 is still technically Gen 1 because they couldn't fit all of the Pokemon on one cartridge when they initially released Gen 1. Johto is best.
I'd say start with gen 5. Gen 3 is rather feature-incomplete by modern standards, particularly in the lack of physical/special split and re-usable TMs. Then maybe gen 4 if you want to stick with 2d after that, although my personal recommendation for 2d Pokemon is to play the fangames Uranium, Realidea System (just beware of the slipshod translation), and Xenoverse.

Yes. SV failed by abandoning the worldbuilding and sense of immersion that Pokemon thrives on. PLA did it correct. SV literally peddles some of the worst aspects of modernity as normal to children and that’s really dangerous (normalizing social media addiction and influencers)

Iono was put in to make the game more relatable to the kids of Japan, because like it or not (i do not), influencers are the new normal.
It’s been normalized since like 2018. ScarVo isn’t normalizing influencers because they’ve already been normalized, especially in Japan which is where these games were made, but also in every other major market for Pokémon. The kids already see this as normal, and if they didn’t it wouldn’t be in the game. They are including things they know will have the kids immersed.
As for social media addiction, I don’t see how you could get that from ScarVo, they barely even mention the internet at all ingame outside of Iono’s bits. The badge pictures could involve the internet supposedly, but it’s never stated what you do with the pictures. You could just be taking them for a scrapbook or something.

the story was slow and the open world was just an empty sandbox to run around it and catch pokemon. c tier at best

For real lmao, only thing I actually disagree w/ is gen 1 and gen 6. I think gen 1 should be solid B or A tier, they're always fun to revisit, and most of the glitches are charming/fun rather than annoying, and I think gen 6 should be lower, but that's coming from someone who mainly nuzlockes.

Ultra Moon and Sun is S tier. The fact that they bring back Giovanni, who tries to bring the leaders of all teams from alternate realities (where they won) into ours is insane. They even gave giovanni his own theme and reworked the themes of all boss leaders. We will never get such a well done Evil Team ever again because from there it went only downhill.

Trump was absolutely correct on Sun and Moon. Amazing first evolution starters, amazing region, Legendaries held their own, fantastic new pokemon like Vikavolt, Kommo-o, the Tapus, Beasts like Guzzlord, and amazing characters. The fact that a dull game like Scarlet in Violet is in the same tier is sinful.
Not to mention did the "non scary evil team" perfect. Skull is fun to be around and Guzma and Plumeria are very good characters. Luckly OP said its just in C for the joke

X/Y is honestly High B-tier. I enjoyed the gameplay, the only thing that keeps it from being higher is an easy endgame, seriously, the champion didn't take much time to beat, hell i even took out Diantha's mega gardevoir with a doublade of all things. Decent game over all though.
Unova totally deserves S tier. Great story greater music great weather mechanic hidden abilities being added. People are just mad because one of the lines is a snowcone

PLA over Scarlet is crazy. PLA was some hot buns. SwSh and USUM dont get nearly enough credit either. USUM just had a slow start. Everything after that was heat.

You could have a level 100 pokemon before the first gym" The only reason that would be possible is if you went through with it, that would be your fault not the games, you could ignore the raid dens, only battle trainers and actually be a few levels below the champions team in levels.
Use Exp candies if you want to catch a low level pokemon up to the rest of the team or use them for pokedex filling.
The music was great in it too, especially the gym leader music.
Sword and Shield should've gotten at least top of C tier or bottom B tier

To be fair to the Let’s Go games, the Pokémon following you was 👨🍳💋👌chef’s kiss perfection. They weren’t obtrusive, they had different run speeds, and you actually had a variety of Pokémon you could ride on, not just one for land/water/air travel.

But they just aren't good games. Sun and moon is just press A button simulator. Literally, if you don't take your finger off it you won't lose. It's just a movie that asks you to press the button.
Sword and shield is a ps1 game where the cheat codes already got put in so you get lvl 100's instantly unless you decide to challenge yourself by somehow trying to lose on purpose.
It's just hard to enjoy these games if you like: challenges, unique fun experiences, gameplay, storytelling etc. They fail in all categories and the only thing holding them up is the unbeatable gameplay loop of pokemon itself. Sun and moon is the first game I got too bored to finish. I grinded hours in the old gens and the game that spoonfed me wins was the one that bored me. It made me miss grinding. Like how?
