Just a note to all first-time viewers: I missed MANY Easter eggs this first time through. At the end of the playlist you'll find two "addendum" videos where I cover (almost) every one I missed in parts 1 through 8. I appreciate you pointing out ones that I missed in the comments, since some may have still slipped through the cracks, but you may want to wait till you see all the videos first just in case. Thanks for all your support!
Hey you missed something I think, in the culling there is a bandit camp up north that drop items when killed But if you also destroy their camp, one tent drops a tome of strength +2
This is a reminder of that time flies. I remember myself first time watching this and absolutely falling in love with it. Since, I have watched every episode over and over again till this day. Unbelievable that it has been 7 years… It feels like it was just yesterday that I’ve watched it for the first time and immediately subscribed to your channel..
The evasion rats were named after Frank Gilson, a producer on the project who had a particular talent for evading... stuff. ;) I had a bit of a temper back then.
Wow, I had no idea! Were you one of the designers of WarCraft 3? What an honor! I would love to hear any behind-the-scenes stuff you have to share. One of my main goals with these videos is to appreciate the work you guys put into my favorite game.
Yeah, I was a level designer for the Starcraft MOTM, and then I moved onto Warcraft 3 and the TFT expansion. I left during WoW's development (I'd had enough Warcraft for a while). These types of videos are very nostalgic for me, as it brings back all the horrors and huzzahs of those years of game development. :)
I always thought Timmy was a reference to the Lord of the Rings, since he (and the ghouls units in general) look a lot like Gollum, and the main reason why I believe that is because he drops a ring of superiority when you kill him. Also the fact that he's in a cage could reference the moment when Gollum was caught and imprisoned (and tortured) by Mordor. I might be wrong of course, but that's still a nice coincidence lol
It is 02/02/2020 and i´m just here to revel in the greatness that was Warcraft III, the love that went into it so many years ago and to mourn a Blizzard that obviously sold its soul to Activision.
Im so glad I found this, learning new things about one of my favorite games ever made makes me so happy. These are really well done, and your dry humor/ delivery is fantastic, I really hope this gets a view-surge, you more than deserve it.
5:55 timmy is important and actually has some lore with him. In the WoW game, he shows up in the scourge of lorderon dungeon, and is an extra boss which was fairly challenging and some unique loot.
9:12 In the Refogred version, they put a beautiful King Terenas statue in the entrance of the city. Also, the new map is now different, similar to the trailer one.
Chapter 1: there's a crate in the left of the map that you cannot hit. Chapter 6: if you watcth the whole video in the start, you can control jaina for a couple of second even forcing an elemental to come out if you are fast enough. Chapter 8: there's also a panda behind some trees near the spot where you kill the dragons.
The waygate system in the Stratholme level are likely for Mal'Ganis to teleport back after being killed, other than that I cannot think of why they would be there.
There's another one on the same level where the pirates with Phat Lewt are. If you use Far Sight on the bottom leftish, you'll see a big graveyard and a house. If you hover over the area, you can hear muffled voices coming from that house.
Thanks for pointing that out! I didn't see that one. It's actually on the second level, and the building is a tavern, which has a looping ambient sound. So that's what you can hear. I'll add that to my list of things to cover in the addendum video!
Chapter 3: in the Human village, there is a Bandit attack. If you protect the female village being chased, she will give you an item after you kill all the bandits.
btw: on "The Culling" map I've managed to wipe enemy camp and lure Malganis to the Fountain of Health for Ultimate Stalemate (aka I can sit there AFK). I've also defeated Malganis on the last map without support of Arthas (trivia: they will take your Scroll of Town Portal on this map, and you cant loose your hero and respawn it in the city either - you will have to sack your units in cave for more supply too). Well, I had to block Malganis with towers that his AI bugged out, but it is interesting that as some of you cheaters may know, he has trigger where he get ankh of reincarnation to his inventory when he dies, or actually - two of them. When he runs out of inventory space he will... drop them on the ground. The sight of 30-50 ankhs of reincarnation lying on the ground is one in the lifetime experience. I've also managed to kill Cenarious without drinking the blood of Mannoroth. All of these things are post FT version and post AI patch (no +15 flaming orb). Two things I haven't managed to do is to fully destroy both enemies on "March of the Scourge" (lvl 10 Lich in 2nd base, plus infinite gold of enemies plus the way undead build their buildings is a pain in the butt), and same with the last map of Undead (towers on high ground, huge map and a lot of enemies). If you cheat your way through "March of the Scourge" map you can notice that this map unlike many other timed maps have trigger to end sooner if there are no mor enemies on the map.
I'm sure you've by now seen some of the crazy speedruns (from speedrun.com) and what not, where they do manage to destroy all the enemies in both "March of the Scourge" and the final Undead level? And it turns out - both of them have the same end trigger!
8:01, on this level, if you destroy the house on the bottom right corner of the city and kill the sheep behind it (I can't remember if there's a sheep, this memory was from years ago), you would be able to find a potion that can fully recover a hero's health and mana.
Hey Abel! Remember me? Yes? No? Doesn't matter... Here is something I remembered.. Human Campaign : Scourge of Lordaeron Chapter 8 : Dissension Upon reaching the area with full of murlocs just beyond the second mercenary camp... To the north of it lies blocks of trees (on the right direction) that will lead you to the 3rd ship... You will either use your mortar teams or you can hire some goblin sappers from the goblin observatory on a cliff above it.. BUT HERE IS THE THING... (Though Im not sure if this is considered as an easter egg or not) The goblin observatory itself IS part of your controlled team... which means it is the player's unit as well... It has a very high amount of hp but can be destroyed... If you destroyed the goblin observatory... It will have a decreasing effect to your food upkeep...
just a tip (that someone else probably already said) you are able to attack trees with a non whisp lumber gatherer. you don't get any lumber but you can clear trees faster.
subscribed m8, after playing this game multiple times over the course of 10 years you surprised me keep it up also really cool you do warcraft 3 videos it will always remain special for me
There is also another bit of unused dialogue. Apparently in mission Frostmourne, one of Arthas' unused quotes is "I'm so tired". I dunno what triggers that or anything else about it.
Wow, you're right! Can't believe I missed that one. I wonder what situation that quote was originally used for. Thanks for the tip! Maybe I'll just toss it into a future video.
That would be really nice. I would like to hear it. Also in Culling, citizes used to react to Arthas destroying their homes but that was also scrapped.
Abelhawk I only found your chanel about an hour ago, but i like the effort and content you are putting in your videos. WC3 is one of my favourite games and it feels nice to discover all these little details years later. Thank you for that. I've also been looking for easter eggs in Warcraft 3 and i will watch the rest of videos and if there something not mentioned i will drop a comment. Happy New Year!
This isn't fact but rather a mere guess, but the "I'm so tired" quote was probably a string of quotes Blizzard originally had planned to replace Arthas's regular dialogue that he would speak when you would command him to do something or otherwise click on him. I'm pretty sure all his normal dialogue was to be replaced with brand new dialogue which would have been eerily ominous of the Frostmourne stealing his soul/sapping his strength, and this new dialogue would have come in after you reached the Frostmorune. It's probable Blizzard either thought a brand new line of dialogues of such a dark nature would have been too creepy (doubtful because they've done much more creepy things in their games), or they simply didn't have enough time to get all the new dialogue done and replaced before the game's release date.
they removed the trees that needed to be cut down in reforged, correct me if im wrong but you can just walk to these secrets it seems. also it seems they watched this video and made the statue you're referring to at 9:09 into reforged, thet's pretty epic dude!
Yeah it is. You save him as an optional quest at the beginning of the campaign, then you can break him from the cage, then finally he's a boss in Stratholme.
Yeah, I'll be commenting more about him in the Undead video. I made the mistake in this video of confusing him with the child Timmy (see David Fried's comments about him), but there are at least two Timmys.
8:20 There's actually a way to prevent villagers from turning into zombies. After destroying the house, turn the villagers into sheep using the polymorph ability of the sorceress. After turning back to people, they won't have the urge to turn into zombies anymore. There was actually a way to "save" the people without resorting to mass murder, not that the game would allow it. If Arthas has gone this path, everything would be different. No Undead Scourge, No Burning Legion, No Alliance, No Undead Sylvanas, No dead Murradin Bronzebeard, No corrupted Grom Hellscream, No dead Cennarius, no awake Malfurion, no free Illidan, no wisps pawning Archimonde, no Bloodelf concentration camp, No Arthas Lich King and, most importantly, No World of Warcraft! On a side note: You could kill the rat without clicking a thousand times by ordering your mortar team to attack ground.
Hi, I noticed something interesting. I don't know if you already know about it or not, but those last two unused sounds of Muradin are used in an easter egg. Not in the game itself, but in the world editor. On the bottom right corner if you look closely, there is a green gem, which if you click on it says "Gem Activated", and will do some interesting stuff like playing death animations and sounds when deleting units, or destructibles. If you keep spam clicking on it, it will play some random sounds, like muradin taunting the player (the ones in your video). Great video, I really love your content :)
This might be a Easter Egg in reference to Diablo II, as when you are in the D2 battle.net channel while searching for games there is a gem in between the chat and games list area you can click in which once you click it, it says "Gem Activated" and "Gem Deactivated". I'm not sure exactly what this does, though.
Hey @Abelhawk you inspired me to play the campaign again. In like the first or second mission, there's a side quest to find "gerard's" or "gerald's" (forget his name) ledger. The item description says it's full of facts and figures, prolly a reference to the Peter Gabriel song "Book of Love".
Yes! Near the Goblin Laboratory, turning left once you get on the high ground (Lab was on the right), use mortars to take down trees and you’ll see him, pretty handy for Muradin
Jaina was originally written to die and come back as a banshee, but they changed it when they realized having the female deutragonist die and come back evil was too similar to Kerrigan's arc in Starcraft 1, so they rewrote her.
Wow man, thanks for doing this video. The most inresting part was with the dialogue lines in the game files, wich made me to do some research and stuff. Glad to see that there are more people who care about this game's story line and secrets.
Actually in second level of human campaign there is yet another hidden place with creeps, it's in bottom right of sacrifical pit (where enemy hero is) and you get there by chopping trees too :) It has unusual rocky terrain and a few murlocs, but they don't drop anything.
0:33 That zoo later inspired me to make my own in skirmish - just hire some wilder mercenaries, put them in back of your main base and give them patrol order. I just love to roleplay in RTS :D
7:25 Three years late, but she can just have been "Guess dead" by letting clothing or some sorts of indice, i mean, lot of moovies and game see a just a cloak and here it is "Bernard is dead"
It was officially confirmed by a developer that Jaina was indeed considered die in Arthas' campaign. They didn't go with it since it was too much of a rehash of Kerrigan and Raynor.
in chapter 2 of scourge of lordaeron behind eastern gnoll camp if you chop down some woods in the end to the north you will find a pack of murlocs where one of them drop a potion of mana
The original storyline would have seen Uther lead humans to Kalimdor, while Jaina would have died and "miracously" return, actually being a manipulative spy, and undead made to look living. That base idea would later be applied to Sylvanas Windrunner for the Frozen Throne, a banshee possessing it's own corpse. Jaina would help lead Arthas towards evil, once she's revealed telling her how being freed from their responsibilities make them able to be together, forever, and would later be his queen, serving a role akin to Kel'thuzads. It's interesting to think how different WoW would look today had they gone with that story
Thanks for this video. I didn't know about many of these easter eggs and I just ordered Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (and The Frozen Throne) again, so I'll be having a little bit of fun checking these out.
I'm wondering if anything special happens if you save the villagers before they're sacrificed in blackrock and roll. My disc has a missing file error everytime I try to install.
HailToTheHorse It’s a bug, if you use your army to kill MalGanis before Arthas gets to Frostmourne. Every time he does an ankh was added to his inventory, if you kill him more than 6 times, new ankhs spawn where he dies. Pretty damn funny.
I am so glad you made these vids... im 17 now and have been playing warcraft 3 since I could move a mouse... there are so many easter eggs I understand now thanks man :D
This is a bit dark...but I've read somewhere that Jaina was supposed to be the Banshee Queen not Sylvanas as she would die in the Human Campaign and is the turning point for Arthas seeking vengeance on Mal'ganis so harshly. Maybe Arthas's deleted dialogue is when he meet her again as a banshee and talk to her without recognizing her at first "What the hell you are saying, who are you anyway?" then follows with "Jaina...you are alive" then "I will tell you all about it later" as he take her back the dialogue stating that Jaina might know how to activate the portal might be before Arthas meet her again.
I dunno if you still read these. And it's been a long time since i played the game or looked in WC3 editor. But in final mission Frostmourne, after Arthas claims the titular sword, he has 1 point of strenght and hence 25 hp less. That's cuz game has three Arthas models, paladin with hammer, paladin with Frostmourne and his death knight model. I believe mission starts with 1st model, switches to 2nd during cutscene in which Arthas claims the sword, and stays that way for rest of the mission. Frostmourne pedestal is it's own object and has no interraction with any of Arthas models, it has breaking animation, in which Frostmourne actually permanently disappears, and it's actually 2nd Arthas model that throws the hammer away and spawns the sword to claim. Plenty of tinkering went into hiding some of the limitations they had. But i think some of it is shown through 1 strength point missing.
I got to say that Warcraft III is one of my favorite Strategy games of all time! But to be honest my favorite Blizzard Game is Diablo II Man that Cow Level still haunts me!
“Map reveal cheat code” My god, how many years has it been and I still remember most of those codes? iseedeadpeople warpten whosyourdaddy thereisnospoon
its possible the obelisk where arthas says that is actually where his father was buried it seems likely that the king would be buried with as much grandeur as possible especially if they're good little kings

Chapter 3: May be you don't call it eastern egg but in the west to your camp in the Woods is a rogue camp.
The Timmy ghoul actually made it to WoW. I am unsure if he's still in WoW, but he was (or is) a boss in stratholme.
I'd still play this over Pubg or fortnite, like they can compare to this

Great video! The Wc3 Campaigns are honestly one of the most well crafted Singleplayer Campaigns of all time. Just phenomenal in so many ways.

Jaina was originally written to die and come back as a banshee, but they changed it when they realized having the female deutragonist die and come back evil was too similar to Kerrigan's arc in Starcraft 1, so they rewrote her.
Curious, did the developers in Reforged version added somd new easter eggs to the old maps.
Wow man, thanks for doing this video. The most inresting part was with the dialogue lines in the game files, wich made me to do some research and stuff. Glad to see that there are more people who care about this game's story line and secrets.
In the second level, ther are also secret murlocs if you cut down the trees at the right where the boss is, though they dont leave you anything
I respect the research you did for these videos! subbed
cant overstate how much i love this
This brings me back! It has been forever since I played any Warcraft game. xD
Actually in second level of human campaign there is yet another hidden place with creeps, it's in bottom right of sacrifical pit (where enemy hero is) and you get there by chopping trees too :) It has unusual rocky terrain and a few murlocs, but they don't drop anything.
"Darkness called"
"But he was on the phone so I missed him"
I hate how I missed this quote despite playing this game off and on for 16 years.
0:33 That zoo later inspired me to make my own in skirmish - just hire some wilder mercenaries, put them in back of your main base and give them patrol order. I just love to roleplay in RTS :D
9:10 they do make a statues of terenes in reforge
7:25 Three years late, but she can just have been "Guess dead" by letting clothing or some sorts of indice, i mean, lot of moovies and game see a just a cloak and here it is "Bernard is dead"
It was officially confirmed by a developer that Jaina was indeed considered die in Arthas' campaign. They didn't go with it since it was too much of a rehash of Kerrigan and Raynor.
I know its a 1yr old vid, but just wanna say this is a well made video. Keep it up!
Great video - I always enjoy hunting for secrets... even in WoW, one of the things I did the most was to seek out the hidden places of the world.
in chapter 2 of scourge of lordaeron behind eastern gnoll camp if you chop down some woods in the end to the north you will find a pack of murlocs where one of them drop a potion of mana
Looks like the human hero in Thrall dream cinematic is supposed to be Uther, or someone else. But definitely not Jaina.
Thanks for this video. I didn't know about many of these easter eggs and I just ordered Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos (and The Frozen Throne) again, so I'll be having a little bit of fun checking these out.
I forgot you mentioned the boots of speed in "march of the scourge" mission. Was a nice reveal when I was replaying :3
The peasant “Jillian” at 5:22 is a reference to the barmaid npc from Diablo 1
I'm wondering if anything special happens if you save the villagers before they're sacrificed in blackrock and roll. My disc has a missing file error everytime I try to install.
This game and old rock make the best combo .
And what about a lifetime supply of ankhs on Mal'ganis?
I missed that one in this video, but I talk about it later in the Addendum vid!
My first PC game was WarCraft II. I'm 24 now :/.
2:49 yeah, too bad witching hour is 3:00-4:00 am, not midnight.
3:45 It's been a while since I played W3, but can't you use Mortar Team to destroy trees quickly?
@OptimusGaming 45 Wait, he doesn't actiually join you? I thought he did as a unique unit. Huh, I guess I really need to replay W3 soon.
Nice video! those Arthas quotes just blew my mind D:
I think Timmy was the one that got kidnapped, and also he’s in WoW back in vanilla/classic in the crusader side of Strath
Maaaaaan these videos are soooo entertaining!!!!
Those lines were surely destinated toward arthas, after frostmoorn and a epic battle
Most of these Easter Eggs are eerie... especially the grave yard and Jaina soundfile ones in particular.
How did you forget the bunch of murlocs on the cliff/ hill overlooking the blademaster on the 1st level? does anyone know why they are there?
in exodus of the horde chapter 2 in western end of the map somewhere in the end is a secret graveyard on a cliff
The real easter egg is the friends we've slain along the way.
I got to say that Warcraft III is one of my favorite Strategy games of all time!
But to be honest my favorite Blizzard Game is Diablo II Man that Cow Level still haunts me!
i never knew such things existed blizz did a good job of keeping these hidden

Thank you for being so detailed.
I'll happily subscribe for more.
6:38 Jaina was replaced with a Dread lord comfirmed :D
9:08 In Reforged it is much easier to get Arthas to say that line
its possible the obelisk where arthas says that is actually where his father was buried it seems likely that the king would be buried with as much grandeur as possible especially if they're good little kings
Nice video! Loved this game , Really captured my interest as a young teen playing this ! excited to see the remastered version!
10:21 these 2 taunts are from warcraft 2, he's taunting you (the player) when you click him many times. I don't remember the exact unit.
You killed Garglemel? You better watch out, because Blib & Blob are coming for you!
4:00 i used to build base there and dstroy my original one, then i would wait so see orcs strugling to destroy it
Awesome editing and hidden easter eggs (XZibit's heavy breathing) inside
The ghoul timmy is a boss in Stratholme in WoW, a pretty major easter egg actually, (called Timmy the Cruel)
I love these vids, ty so much for making them!
4:02 I diidnt even know that was easter egg in the first place, i just tought is the path😭
Holy shit, jaina IS a dreadlord!! 6:22
BTW Timmy in the cage is a boss in stratholme named Timmy the Cruel ^^ thought it was worth mentioning
"Or even kill anything that's not invulnerable" is probably the most fitting word you can say to me when i play WoW3
Are those things going to be in Reforged as well?
where can you download the mission maps with the triggers from ?
The files are already in your Warcraft 3 folder! You just need to extract them from war3.mpq with an MPQ extractor.
