Just a note to all first-time viewers: I missed MANY Easter eggs this first time through. At the end of the playlist you'll find two "addendum" videos where I cover (almost) every one I missed in parts 1 through 8. I appreciate you pointing out ones that I missed in the comments, since some may have still slipped through the cracks, but you may want to wait till you see all the videos first just in case. Thanks for all your support!
Hey you missed something I think, in the culling there is a bandit camp up north that drop items when killed But if you also destroy their camp, one tent drops a tome of strength +2
The waygate system in the Stratholme level are likely for Mal'Ganis to teleport back after being killed, other than that I cannot think of why they would be there.
8:01, on this level, if you destroy the house on the bottom right corner of the city and kill the sheep behind it (I can't remember if there's a sheep, this memory was from years ago), you would be able to find a potion that can fully recover a hero's health and mana.
btw: on "The Culling" map I've managed to wipe enemy camp and lure Malganis to the Fountain of Health for Ultimate Stalemate (aka I can sit there AFK). I've also defeated Malganis on the last map without support of Arthas (trivia: they will take your Scroll of Town Portal on this map, and you cant loose your hero and respawn it in the city either - you will have to sack your units in cave for more supply too). Well, I had to block Malganis with towers that his AI bugged out, but it is interesting that as some of you cheaters may know, he has trigger where he get ankh of reincarnation to his inventory when he dies, or actually - two of them. When he runs out of inventory space he will... drop them on the ground. The sight of 30-50 ankhs of reincarnation lying on the ground is one in the lifetime experience. I've also managed to kill Cenarious without drinking the blood of Mannoroth. All of these things are post FT version and post AI patch (no +15 flaming orb). Two things I haven't managed to do is to fully destroy both enemies on "March of the Scourge" (lvl 10 Lich in 2nd base, plus infinite gold of enemies plus the way undead build their buildings is a pain in the butt), and same with the last map of Undead (towers on high ground, huge map and a lot of enemies). If you cheat your way through "March of the Scourge" map you can notice that this map unlike many other timed maps have trigger to end sooner if there are no mor enemies on the map.
I'm sure you've by now seen some of the crazy speedruns (from speedrun.com) and what not, where they do manage to destroy all the enemies in both "March of the Scourge" and the final Undead level? And it turns out - both of them have the same end trigger!
Hey Abel! Remember me? Yes? No? Doesn't matter... Here is something I remembered.. Human Campaign : Scourge of Lordaeron Chapter 8 : Dissension Upon reaching the area with full of murlocs just beyond the second mercenary camp... To the north of it lies blocks of trees (on the right direction) that will lead you to the 3rd ship... You will either use your mortar teams or you can hire some goblin sappers from the goblin observatory on a cliff above it.. BUT HERE IS THE THING... (Though Im not sure if this is considered as an easter egg or not) The goblin observatory itself IS part of your controlled team... which means it is the player's unit as well... It has a very high amount of hp but can be destroyed... If you destroyed the goblin observatory... It will have a decreasing effect to your food upkeep...
8:20 There's actually a way to prevent villagers from turning into zombies. After destroying the house, turn the villagers into sheep using the polymorph ability of the sorceress. After turning back to people, they won't have the urge to turn into zombies anymore. There was actually a way to "save" the people without resorting to mass murder, not that the game would allow it. If Arthas has gone this path, everything would be different. No Undead Scourge, No Burning Legion, No Alliance, No Undead Sylvanas, No dead Murradin Bronzebeard, No corrupted Grom Hellscream, No dead Cennarius, no awake Malfurion, no free Illidan, no wisps pawning Archimonde, no Bloodelf concentration camp, No Arthas Lich King and, most importantly, No World of Warcraft! On a side note: You could kill the rat without clicking a thousand times by ordering your mortar team to attack ground.
subscribed m8, after playing this game multiple times over the course of 10 years you surprised me keep it up also really cool you do warcraft 3 videos it will always remain special for me
in chapter 2 of scourge of lordaeron behind eastern gnoll camp if you chop down some woods in the end to the north you will find a pack of murlocs where one of them drop a potion of mana
I dunno if you still read these. And it's been a long time since i played the game or looked in WC3 editor. But in final mission Frostmourne, after Arthas claims the titular sword, he has 1 point of strenght and hence 25 hp less. That's cuz game has three Arthas models, paladin with hammer, paladin with Frostmourne and his death knight model. I believe mission starts with 1st model, switches to 2nd during cutscene in which Arthas claims the sword, and stays that way for rest of the mission. Frostmourne pedestal is it's own object and has no interraction with any of Arthas models, it has breaking animation, in which Frostmourne actually permanently disappears, and it's actually 2nd Arthas model that throws the hammer away and spawns the sword to claim. Plenty of tinkering went into hiding some of the limitations they had. But i think some of it is shown through 1 strength point missing.
The original storyline would have seen Uther lead humans to Kalimdor, while Jaina would have died and "miracously" return, actually being a manipulative spy, and undead made to look living. That base idea would later be applied to Sylvanas Windrunner for the Frozen Throne, a banshee possessing it's own corpse. Jaina would help lead Arthas towards evil, once she's revealed telling her how being freed from their responsibilities make them able to be together, forever, and would later be his queen, serving a role akin to Kel'thuzads. It's interesting to think how different WoW would look today had they gone with that story
Yeah it is. You save him as an optional quest at the beginning of the campaign, then you can break him from the cage, then finally he's a boss in Stratholme.
Yeah, I'll be commenting more about him in the Undead video. I made the mistake in this video of confusing him with the child Timmy (see David Fried's comments about him), but there are at least two Timmys.
Wow man, thanks for doing this video. The most inresting part was with the dialogue lines in the game files, wich made me to do some research and stuff. Glad to see that there are more people who care about this game's story line and secrets.
HailToTheHorse It’s a bug, if you use your army to kill MalGanis before Arthas gets to Frostmourne. Every time he does an ankh was added to his inventory, if you kill him more than 6 times, new ankhs spawn where he dies. Pretty damn funny.
I'm pretty sure the Jaina lines are tutorial lines, with the altar of kings appearing for the first time in that mission. Why they scrapped this, I don't know, but the hint that appears when she dies makes it pretty clear that they thought about this early on.
They scrapped it since it would've been too much like Kerrigan and Raynor's situation (ladyfriend of hero being killed or at least captured by the devouring monster faction, her becoming one of them). Nothing about AoKs. See: pretzel-lectern.blogspot.com/2016/05/behind-warcraft-iii-interview-with.html
I am so glad you made these vids... im 17 now and have been playing warcraft 3 since I could move a mouse... there are so many easter eggs I understand now thanks man :D
the mission where arthas and muradin need to burn ships got one easter egg.some trees near the goblin shop can be blast with the suicide unit, a revenant is there, kill it to drop a goblin scope
In chapter 2 you could just select attack option for peasant and click any tree you want down. It's much faster than just cutting it down. Also right corner of the map has murlocks in the moutains behind the trees.
The Scourge of Lordaeron I remember if you free one of the cages, a gull name "child" will come out, and it is not a hostile unit. I suspected it is the same child Arthus saved back in the villige eariler.
About jaina, there's the theory that a nathrezim just shaoeshifted into her form and used her death and "revival" as a slip in to victory and deception
I think that kid timmy is transformed into the goul you release later. After all, the plague was changing humans to the undead. Both times Timmy is released, its from a cage. Just my thought.
Jaina being killed was originally a part of the mission which served to explain how the altar of kings works. Having to build the altar of kings to res jaina to open a gateway to then continue the mission.
No. She was supposed to be killed in battle with the Scourge then at one point become a Banshee. They cut it since it was too much like Kerrigan from Starcraft and Arthas had enough grounds to chase Mal'ganis.
What do you mean you can't imagine what Muradin could have meant or who he was talking to? He clearly would've been talking to Arthas. It probably would've been a longer drawn out fight between him and Arthas.
You forgot one.. In humans campaing, chapter five, there is a big house near the mine gold.. It's on the right border of the map. When you take it down, there is a potion you can see
if you kill malganis WITHOUT getting frostmourne he respawns indefinitely; unless you manage to kill him insanely quickly so that his reincarnation medallion doesn't trigger, in which case, reincarnation medallions will continue to spawn on the ground where he died indefinitely
A few days ago, my wife's nephew, 14, was staying at our place. He's into video games so I decided to introduce Wc3 to him. Sadly, he got overwhelmed with all the details and said as it takes so long to learn everything in this game, he's afraid he won't ever master the game and didn't want to play anymore. To be honest, the game might be old but still way better than most games. Also he is kind of picky with everything and acts like this towards new food, games and places to go to so it might be him, too.
Hey, that's nice but.. you skipped just campaign '' March Of the Scourge '' :D I found yesterday one Easter Egg no one sees before 100% :D That's when you find Human Building (House) and destroy it you'll find one sheep.. kill the sheep and it drops some random item! :D Just try it.. :D ^^
I always wondered why the Morbid Mask from the original DOTA had the caption "the phattest lewt". Now I understand the reference. Edit: The icon for the mask in DOTA is the same as the Phat Lewt shown at 1:56 with the same tag under it. On second thought it may not have been a reference at all, the creator may just not have removed the tag line for whatever reason.
Just seen the 2nd lvl of the human campaign, and can already tell you missed one... Though nothing special and requires more woodcutting, in the north east you can fight some more murlocs and, I think, get a sub-par drop from them.
Personal theory: jaina's death was meant to teach the player about ressurection shrines. That plot was cut because the shrines were needed in earlier levels.
@@ToniBingi Altars of Kings reviving the dead isn't in canon lore. And the "you're alive" line would obviously refer to her being "in the flesh" as one of the Scourge. wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Warcraft_III_evolution_guide#The_Frozen_Throne "Jaina Proudmoore was planned to die as part of a main story element in an early draft of the story, but that idea was scrapped as Arthas didn't need any more motivation to chase after Mal'Ganis than he already had. The love story between Jaina and Arthas was also planned to appear in the game, and Jaina may have also been planned to become a banshee, but it was scrapped as it was too similar to the story of Jim Raynor and Sarah Kerrigan from StarCraft. The banshee plot point was instead moved to Sylvanas Windrunner.[52]"
How do you aquire the maps for single player, and open them in the World Editor?! I've been looking for a download, or instructions, since I was 15 years old for that.
Jaina was originally supposed to die? "What the hell are you saying? Who are you anyway?" "Jaina.. You're alive." Gateway? "No simple cult could have built this." I am now convinced that Jaina WAS supposed to become a dreadlord and they scrapped. I knew it.
ik this is a late comment but my theory is that if arthas attacks muradin he'll say that. coz muradin trained arthas and at first he was dissappointing him on a daily
And i don't get it. Any one know why sirinox the black dragon in the second chapter have an some sort of acidic breath, not the fire? This is make him uniq black dragon. But why?
The evasion rats were named after Frank Gilson, a producer on the project who had a particular talent for evading... stuff. ;) I had a bit of a temper back then.
Wow, I had no idea! Were you one of the designers of WarCraft 3? What an honor! I would love to hear any behind-the-scenes stuff you have to share. One of my main goals with these videos is to appreciate the work you guys put into my favorite game.
Yeah, I was a level designer for the Starcraft MOTM, and then I moved onto Warcraft 3 and the TFT expansion. I left during WoW's development (I'd had enough Warcraft for a while). These types of videos are very nostalgic for me, as it brings back all the horrors and huzzahs of those years of game development. :)
I always thought Timmy was a reference to the Lord of the Rings, since he (and the ghouls units in general) look a lot like Gollum, and the main reason why I believe that is because he drops a ring of superiority when you kill him. Also the fact that he's in a cage could reference the moment when Gollum was caught and imprisoned (and tortured) by Mordor. I might be wrong of course, but that's still a nice coincidence lol
It is 02/02/2020 and i´m just here to revel in the greatness that was Warcraft III, the love that went into it so many years ago and to mourn a Blizzard that obviously sold its soul to Activision.
This is a reminder of that time flies. I remember myself first time watching this and absolutely falling in love with it. Since, I have watched every episode over and over again till this day. Unbelievable that it has been 7 years… It feels like it was just yesterday that I’ve watched it for the first time and immediately subscribed to your channel..
9:12 In the Refogred version, they put a beautiful King Terenas statue in the entrance of the city. Also, the new map is now different, similar to the trailer one.
Chapter 1: there's a crate in the left of the map that you cannot hit. Chapter 6: if you watcth the whole video in the start, you can control jaina for a couple of second even forcing an elemental to come out if you are fast enough. Chapter 8: there's also a panda behind some trees near the spot where you kill the dragons.
5:55 timmy is important and actually has some lore with him. In the WoW game, he shows up in the scourge of lorderon dungeon, and is an extra boss which was fairly challenging and some unique loot.
There's another one on the same level where the pirates with Phat Lewt are. If you use Far Sight on the bottom leftish, you'll see a big graveyard and a house. If you hover over the area, you can hear muffled voices coming from that house.
Thanks for pointing that out! I didn't see that one. It's actually on the second level, and the building is a tavern, which has a looping ambient sound. So that's what you can hear. I'll add that to my list of things to cover in the addendum video!
Im so glad I found this, learning new things about one of my favorite games ever made makes me so happy. These are really well done, and your dry humor/ delivery is fantastic, I really hope this gets a view-surge, you more than deserve it.
Chapter 3: in the Human village, there is a Bandit attack. If you protect the female village being chased, she will give you an item after you kill all the bandits.
Just a note to all first-time viewers: I missed MANY Easter eggs this first time through. Abelhawk criters also can be seen in the grave ;-)
Chapter 3: May be you don't call it eastern egg but in the west to your camp in the Woods is a rogue camp.
The Timmy ghoul actually made it to WoW. I am unsure if he's still in WoW, but he was (or is) a boss in stratholme.
I'd still play this over Pubg or fortnite, like they can compare to this
Hey you missed something I think, in the culling there is a bandit camp up north that drop items when killed
But if you also destroy their camp, one tent drops a tome of strength +2
If this is about my taxes, I can expla-

BETRAYER OF THE LIGHT
FOR MY FATHER THE KING!
FOUL KNAVE!
heres some gold and a potion of healing dont kill me!!!!!!!
lmfao
Arthas, upon seeing a phallic object: "Father, forgive me for what I must do."
low key best comment
Now I cant see that scene any other way. Thanks
lmao wtf
That's a fuckin Freudian & Lacanian thing 😁
There's probably something engraved in that phallic like Terenes 11
The waygate system in the Stratholme level are likely for Mal'Ganis to teleport back after being killed, other than that I cannot think of why they would be there.
Confirmed. Jaina was killed and IS A DREADLORD.
hahahahahaahahah you man are the best :D
Of course she is. I mean she has a dread lord skin in Heroes of the Storm. Lol
nothing but horde propaganda
Bruuuuuuhhhh
I see dead people
RIP Garglemel
8:01, on this level, if you destroy the house on the bottom right corner of the city and kill the sheep behind it (I can't remember if there's a sheep, this memory was from years ago), you would be able to find a potion that can fully recover a hero's health and mana.
There is!
YES!
Timmy was also (much later) a ghoul mini-boss wandering around in Stratholme Living in WoW. Cross-game Easter egg!
btw: on "The Culling" map I've managed to wipe enemy camp and lure Malganis to the Fountain of Health for Ultimate Stalemate (aka I can sit there AFK).

Hey Abel! Remember me? Yes? No? Doesn't matter... Here is something I remembered..
Human Campaign : Scourge of Lordaeron
Chapter 8 : Dissension
Upon reaching the area with full of murlocs just beyond the second mercenary camp... To the north of it lies blocks of trees (on the right direction) that will lead you to the 3rd ship... I know i'm a bit late, but Filson the Rat could be killed using mortar team, as they deal splash damage rather than targeted.
If you look inside Arthas's spellbook while he's communing with Frostmourne, you can see the name Matt inside the book.

Awesome editing and hidden easter eggs (XZibit's heavy breathing) inside
This game and old rock make the best combo .
Wow man, thanks for doing this video. The most inresting part was with the dialogue lines in the game files, wich made me to do some research and stuff. Glad to see that there are more people who care about this game's story line and secrets.
Nice video! those Arthas quotes just blew my mind D:
in chapter 1 of scourge of lordaeron if you kill all 5 Alicia's children you'll be forbidden to save timmy
Curious, did the developers in Reforged version added somd new easter eggs to the old maps.
in exodus of the horde chapter 2 in western end of the map somewhere in the end is a secret graveyard on a cliff
And what about a lifetime supply of ankhs on Mal'ganis?
I missed that one in this video, but I talk about it later in the Addendum vid!
HailToTheHorse It’s a bug, if you use your army to kill MalGanis before Arthas gets to Frostmourne. Every time he does an ankh was added to his inventory, if you kill him more than 6 times, new ankhs spawn where he dies. Pretty damn funny.

BTW Timmy in the cage is a boss in stratholme named Timmy the Cruel ^^ thought it was worth mentioning
At last mission, before arthas get frostmourn. Kill mal'ganis several times you get ankh of reincarnation ......and it has lot of it if you wait...
Holy crap in all the times I’ve played W3 I’ve never heard that Arthas line asking for forgiveness. I guess I was too “busy” to look for it.

Could Jaina have been meant to die to introduce the mechanic of the Altars?
fun fact, if you click garglemel 1200 times he drops claws of attack +15 and explodes
Jaina being killed was originally a part of the mission which served to explain how the altar of kings works. Having to build the altar of kings to res jaina to open a gateway to then continue the mission.

Just seen the 2nd lvl of the human campaign, and can already tell you missed one... Though nothing special and requires more woodcutting, in the north east you can fight some more murlocs and, I think, get a sub-par drop from them.
i wanted to stop watching on middle of video cus nostalgia was too strong...
3:45 It's been a while since I played W3, but can't you use Mortar Team to destroy trees quickly?
@OptimusGaming 45 Wait, he doesn't actiually join you? I thought he did as a unique unit. Huh, I guess I really need to replay W3 soon.
Personal theory: jaina's death was meant to teach the player about ressurection shrines. That plot was cut because the shrines were needed in earlier levels.
She was supposed to be killed in battle with the Scourge and become a Banshee. Nope.
@@galten7361 so then why the "jaina you're alive" line?
@@ToniBingi Altars of Kings reviving the dead isn't in canon lore. And the "you're alive" line would obviously refer to her being "in the flesh" as one of the Scourge.
wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Warcraft_III_evolution_guide#The_Frozen_Throne
"Jaina Proudmoore was planned to die as part of a main story element in an early draft of the story, but that idea was scrapped as Arthas didn't need any more motivation to chase after Mal'Ganis than he already had.
Timmy the Cruel
How do you aquire the maps for single player, and open them in the World Editor?! I've been looking for a download, or instructions, since I was 15 years old for that.
Here you go! ua-cam.com/video/bKfekAgJItE/v-deo.html&lc=z233z3tberr4trdlyacdp43aimooutkfz0zb0wjmddpw03c010c
Jaina was originally supposed to die?
"What the hell are you saying? Who are you anyway?"
"Jaina.. You're alive."
Gateway?
"No simple cult could have built this."
I am now convinced that Jaina WAS supposed to become a dreadlord and they scrapped. I knew it.
Humans do not become dreadlords
Nothing can become dreadlord, it's basically a race
She was supposed to be killed and get turned into a Banshee. Aka what happened to Sylvanas.
ik this is a late comment but my theory is that if arthas attacks muradin he'll say that. coz muradin trained arthas and at first he was dissappointing him on a daily
Very nice video :)
in WoW theres a ghoul in stratholme named Timmy, thought that would be of significance.
7:49 that sounds used somewhere, isn't it?
Not that I can find. :/ Let me know if you find out!
its likely that I've just heard it through Custom Games or by tinkering around in the editor. You're probably correct in saying that it isn't used.
that makes me think that actually Jaina really died and a real dreadlord took her place lol
3:50 You can attack trees with peasents to destroy them faster, iirc.
U need alot of peasents to cut all the trees
Hey Abel, are you Russian? Why are there Russian captions available?
One of my subscribers, Некое Деепричастие, supplied them for me!
How Jaina dies in 6:00? plz
tell me
LOL did you know you can use Attack command as peasant to destroy tree?
You don't have to gather all trees lol. Attack is faster.
I know. :D I mainly did that for comedic effect. At 3:45 you can see them attacking the trees without lumber in their arms.
Paladin: No? Is that your final answer??
there a gun shop in stranbrad that is from Starcraft
isnt there a mob in wows stratholm named timmy?
And i don't get it. Any one know why sirinox the black dragon in the second chapter have an some sort of acidic breath, not the fire? This is make him uniq black dragon. But why?
Weird, you're right... I never noticed that before. He's more like the black dragons in the D&D universe.
So, there aren't explanations in the games lore, this thing doesn't allow me to sleep at night sometimes.
The evasion rats were named after Frank Gilson, a producer on the project who had a particular talent for evading... stuff. ;)
I had a bit of a temper back then.
I'm happy to make them! It's the best way I can think of to "give back" to the developers for making my childhood (and the time since) so much fun!
:O
:')
wow come take a selfie tgt V^_^V
fun fact, if you click garglemel 1500 times he drops claws of attack +15 and explodes
Pay your taxes
Mi’lord that’s all I have
YOU ARE PAST REDEMPTION
Oblivion Guards would like to know your location
I always thought Timmy was a reference to the Lord of the Rings, since he (and the ghouls units in general) look a lot like Gollum, and the main reason why I believe that is because he drops a ring of superiority when you kill him. Also the fact that he's in a cage could reference the moment when Gollum was caught and imprisoned (and tortured) by Mordor.
I might be wrong of course, but that's still a nice coincidence lol
I just realized Medivh is a reskinned Druid of the Talon. That's why he can turn into a crow!
Gah, I can't believe I forgot to put that in the video. Yeah, it's true. His voice actor is even the same as the druid of the talon.
Arthas killing Garglemel was the funniest
he was beyond redemption
Taxes are a serious business.
A punishment for trying to kill our little smurfs...
No.
True?
@@achikkun6352 It is
5:55 timmy is important and actually has some lore with him.
Hold down shift to queue up actions so that the commands will be followed in a specific order.
Ha ha, we'll see! I'm glad everyone likes them so much. They're a lot of fun to make.
