Just a note to all first-time viewers: I missed MANY Easter eggs this first time through. At the end of the playlist you'll find two "addendum" videos where I cover (almost) every one I missed in parts 1 through 8. I appreciate you pointing out ones that I missed in the comments, since some may have still slipped through the cracks, but you may want to wait till you see all the videos first just in case. Thanks for all your support!
I will still point out one that you haven't touched. Apparently in the first Undead mission there is an Acolyte in disguise in the northern part of the map (behind the fence) who is holding a sheep and well... playing with it.
I wouldn't really call the acolyte carrying the sheep an Easter egg, since he's in plain sight. In fact, he's part of the main quest objectives to rally the acolytes, so it's likely that most people will have seen him.
Yeah maybe you are right but it always seemed suspicious to me that he is hidden from everybody else and does SOMETHING with that sheep. Anyway I just wanted to point out that one thing. Good job on finding the rest of them! I was very curious about those gaysers in Dustwallow. That was indeed a smart move from Blizzard. Also I just want to point out that I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the "wet" part of terrain in Dustwallow. Something about it makes it so climatic.
We used doodads for Siege of Dalaran because we didn't have environmental effects regions at the time. Those were added as a result of the doodad fiasco but the map was already locked for gold master at that point. At least that's what I remember...
That is _fascinating!_ I keep taking for granted the completeness of the map editor, even though I distinctly remember that it was much less user-friendly in Reign of Chaos.
Yeah during RoC we were designing the tools at the same time as we were trying to make the maps. Sometimes days would go by while we waited for a feature, or someone would have to code by hand without triggers to get something working. One of our main goals was to never do something that the player couldn't also do themselves, but there's at least a few occasions where Michael Heiberg had to write some code. I think primarily in the secret tower defense level.
Edward Kang was a Quality Assurance analyst at the time War3 was released. Nick Buzan was a friend of mine, and Greg Edmunson was my girlfriend's stepfather. Fun facts... The reason the model names don't match the name in the game is because there was a code change that over-rode some of our more interesting names for Heroes that we put in during the course of development. Someone took umbrage at the potential for certain names to end up in lore. While hero names got overridden, basic units did not... So... that's why a lot of villagers and stuff got to keep their special names. We also would sometimes clone and create new characters via the editor. Giant gnolls, giant pandas, etc. Those got to keep their names as well.
Wow! I honestly didn't expect these questions to ever be answered. So you personally came up with the names for the latter two paladins? Thank you so much for watching these videos! I never expected an actual WarCraft 3 developer to ever watch these.
I made up a lot of names. Some of theme are still in the Hero name cycles. Kelen for example which was the name of a mage I played in Dungeons & Dragons with Sam Didier, Derek Simmons, and Jason Hutchins. In the Dungeons of Dalaran (TFT) I named a lot of stuff. My favorite name for Warcraft that I made was Wizbang Cranktoggle (WoW)... I think they removed him, but that name cracks me up every time I read it.
+DesignerDave Hmm... thanks for the trivia. I remember Balnazzar was a name a generic dreadlord could use in a melee game in Wc3 but when TFT was released it got removed as he was a villain in the the campaign.

You missed a secret in Blackrock and Roll, too! There's a hidden Murlock behind some trees to the left of the orange orc base. You need to knock down some trees to get to it. It drops a mana stone. The reason you missed it is it's hidden at night. You probably looked at that area when you couldn't see it.
God these videos are hilarious haha! I'm so glad that there still are some people out there making Warcraft 3 content, it was definitely my favourite video game when i was younger. Thanks a lot for doing this man!
You missed something in The Fall of Silvermoon: if you preserve a few peasants when destroying Sylvanas' base, you can have banshees possess one, and then you can build high elf structures and units, and even an infinite number of human heroes! However, the High Elf Barracks is an organic unit, so it cannot be built. That means you can't build Swordsmen, Archers or Dragon Hawks. This is not repeated in later games where you can possess worker units but not build their structures. OK so it's not an easter egg, but still worth noting.
I knew you could do that, but I didn't know about the infinite human heroes thing! That's definitely an Easter egg, since it was most likely unintentional on the devs' part. Thanks!
In the earliest game patches u could finish up the barracks, and make dudes. I just loved spamming high elves out :) i guess it is a bug that made the barracks unbuildable, as the cpu cant rebuild that either, if he wants
In Undead Chapter 2, Digging Up the Dead there is an unused Tichondrius dialogue line: U02Tichondrius14.mp3 It says: Where are the necromancer's remains? Retrieve them immediately.
I love coming back to your videos. Always counted myself as lucky to have enjoyed this game during my teens when Blizzard was in its prime. Such a nostalgia trip :)
Yeah - back then to October/November 2002, when I was 9, and actually thought that High Elves were actually "HIGH" I mean tall elves. But some time later, in mission "The Spirits of Ashenvale" Grom said about Night Elves: "Yes. They almost look like elves, but they're far too tall, and far too savage." And I said to myself: "It doesn't make any sense". And then I realized that "High Elves" are High not because they are tall, but because they are descendants from Highborne and their title "High" have nothing to do with their height. So lame, but those first years waith Warcraft 3 were great.
You're amazing, i just lost it everytime you went with that "Unsolved mysteries" thing xD stil cracks me up, same with "very" ""useful"" item as goblin scope and all other ironic moments(secretive sounds) xD You got a subscribe :) I love it xD
I prefer the idea that the Pandarens are part of the world and a bigger factor for WoW. Regardless of the mixing cultures, it brings more life to the world knowing that there's more than two or three continents with a different civilization. I liked the idea the Pandarens in Warcraft 3, that somewhere in the world there was something similar to older chinese mythologies, and I was super happy to see that be a thing in WoW. The issue I always had in WC3 was that so many obviously different races either performed similarly or had nothing fleshed out about them, like the Draenei. That even continued into WoW for the most part, it always boiled down to Human or Orc areas while the other races toward the end were just thrown together in factions for whichever big picture event was happening in those zones. Wasn't really until Burning Crusade where they opened a door to bring more life to different races and cultures of that world. I had no troubles believing somewhere in the world that focused primarily on two and a half continents (the half being Northrend because it was never focused on in WC3 outside Undead stuff) there was a continent of panda people with a bunch of chinese architecture and a bunch of mythological shit all around it. I even like that they tied the Trolls to it because Trolls seem to be the most adaptive race in the series and were just fucking everywhere, before and after the sundering.
In black rock n roll too! if you issue the attack ground command to a bunch of meat wagon on the demon gate, just before the end cut scene (kel'thuzard summons archimonde) starts, the demon gate can actually be destroyed during the cut scene, try it.
You might have missed also a longshot reference at 7:48, that sheepherder mage is called Conjurus Rex, that could be a reference to the Swedish king which sometimes used the latin version of his name, Carolus Rex.
Also, if you have an early version of the game (pre 1.06 I think), you can actually command acolytes to repair the bridge Sylvanas destroyed in Chapter 4. I was checking patch notes and bridges were apparently doodads that can be destroyed and repaired at one point.
in blackrock and roll too, there is a hidden solo murloc nightcrawler behind the trees, little above the orc base that is in the down-left corner (the weakest one). after destroying those trees and killing him you can get a mana stone :3 pretty dank videos btw, especially the one about doodads at 7:10!

And Night Elves. Night Elf architecture has incredibly heavy Asian themes. Also, it's kind of a fact now that the Pandaren have more lore in their one expansion than a race that has been in Warcraft for years has ever had - I'm of course talking about goblins.

I think there is one more Easter egg in the first undead mision, u van find a small child behind trees near an lumber mill, this child invurable but works as all the villagers and will call city guard to you
Key (Hard): Forest spider (only one with that name?) hidden behind the rocks southwest of the destroyed bridge. Haven't tested if it changes from lvl 1, no loot to something more significant as key fragments are collected and bases destroyed. Three fragments, three spiders? Silvermoon: Carry 6 items through Silvermoon by dropping one of your five items, collect a different item you want, clear the well but don't activate the circle, drop a 2nd item as close to the circle as possible without activating it, retrieve the first item you dropped, return to circle and activate it, then retrieve the 2nd item in the brief window of time between the urn disappearing and mission end. Possession: If I were designing a level, I'd hide a secret bonus ability on a critter or regular villager.
I've made the Russian subtitles for this video and then send them for approval, just like I did it for "The Scourge of Lordaeron" part, but it was a month ago. What is taking so long for them to be added?
That was my bad, sorry. I forgot I had to make the final approval after they were reviewed by the community. Should be up now! Thanks so much for contributing.
Thanks! Just so you know, it told me the review process for the subtitles was done on the 11th, so whenever you submitted them up to that day is how long they take till I can make final approval.
Maybe the reason the area effects in Dalarn are 'dodads,' as you called them, is because they couldn't figure out how to make weather effects cause damage or because it was easier to program.
7:15 as with a weather effect, I don't think that they could make parts of it disappear as the mission went on. Edit: I just looked and saw that the question had been answered, so nevermind.
1st mission: if you kill the barracks you get an item (not rly sure if this can be counted as an easter egg) Quel 'Thalas mission: at bottom left there's a place that you cannot step on. Black rock n' roll mission: there's a group of murloc at top left
Abelhawk, there is something that you missed in digging the graves, you must use the cheat code to see the whole map, then at the bottom of the map you will see a sheep named Tichondrius.
You forgot the Tichondrius disguise easter egg, after you see the secret with tichondrius in Digging up the dead where he has transformed himself into a sheep.
7:15 could it be that regional weather effects weren't a thing in RoC? I would say this is likely, if you look at how the transformation from Normal Grom to Chaos Grom works, its really inefficient compared to how you could do it now in the trigger editor.
actually in chapter 2 digging up the dead you can find a sheep called Tichondrious on the bottom side of the map on q hill close to Tichondrious' feast where some rock golems are located
Hey Abel, I know this is 4 yrs late comment since you uploaded this video but I just realized something awesome. Is it worth noting as trivia or can be considered as an eater egg that the missions involving Quel'thalas in this campaign have good resemblance to the 11th mission and last mission of the Act 3 of the Orc Campaign in WC2:ToD - THE DEAD RISE AS QUEL'THALAS FALLS. I mean think about it. It both happens in Quel'thalas. In WC2, Gul'dan made the DEATH KNIGHTS to raise the UNDEAD and destroy Quel'thalas, while in WC3, Arthas, who as already a DEATH KNIGHT, raise and led the UNDEAD Scourge in Quel'thalas. Perhaps "The Dead Rise as Quel'thalas falls" in WC2 was an epic foreshadowing of what will happen in WC3. Don't you think?
I don't know if it's just me, but it looks like when you cut off the beginning of this video, only the audio was cut, but the video prevailed. So the audio is like 10 seconds behind the video.
Hi when you are in final battle vs sylvanas get an high elf peon to your control!!! This will let you to make an army from human HEROS and also they have a high elf units. To do this use your banshees...
You missed the best easter egg in all game in chapter 6. With Banshee your can possess an Orc peon and with them you can build all off Orc buildings and create Orc units. And the best part of all is that you can create infinite Orc heroes, it's insane but it's true. Try it ;)
Hm.....if u possess a master sorceress then u can invite arthas to go for the vault destroy the vault pick em uo and to away but care the gyrocopters.u can use potion of invulnerability too if u have one from the goblin merchanta can't recall though.
They were not weather effects because when you killed a mage, it removed the aura from a certain portion of the map, hence it cannot be a weather effect, since that affect the entire map, while with a trigger (on death of the mages), you can delete specific doodads, hence removing the aura(doodad units) only at a specific area, that causes damage to undead units. There was nothing mysterious about this :D
If you go into the World Editor, you'll find that weather effects can be assigned to specific regions, not just the entire map. One of the weather effects is called "Dalaran Shield."
@@Abelhawk Yes but as far as I know, that requires a unit being in the target zone, doesn't it? And that creates an obvious bug during gameplay, which is that whenever a unit is standing in the trigger zone, then no matter where your camera is, you will see that effect as long as that unit is there. Isn't that correct? And as the programmers, I can easily also imagine that they just didn't know how to program that properly, and said fukk it let's just do 600 doodads and be done with it.
No, weather has nothing to do with units. Just the camera and in some cases fog of war. In any case, one of the Warcraft developers clarified this information in a pinned comment here (his name's DesignerDave). It just wasn't created in the map editor at the time, so they used doodads instead.
Oh my goddd how can you open the map in the world editor??? Can you switch the force you wanna play like a computer is gonna play Arthas? Or will they just stay still please reply luv your vids
Blizzard seems to like naming models something completely different to what the model is for. I've noticed this a lot in WoW datamining stuff on wowhead and mmo champion.
You mentioned the campaign files, but how do you access those? I searched through the .mpq files, and didn't find them, as well as, obviously, among regular map and campaign files. Where are they hidden? I beg for enlightenment.
Nice, BUT.. you were forget something very very mysterious.. in the '' Digging up the Dead '' one.. One sheep that named '' TICHONDRIUS '' someone named this Sheep '' Tichondrius '' presumed some cultist in hidding. x)
if u play the one where sylvanas dies and type in enter sharp and shiny three time and then use a banshee to control a present make an altar and u can summon infinite heros

Black rock n' roll mission: there's a group of murloc at top left
St. Sam I know I'm eleven months late but what quel'thalas mission?
the first mission where you meet sylvanas
1:10 Robert and Tyler can be found in the Fall of Lordaeron Movie.
in the first mission if you destroy the barrack and kill some horse you will get the ring of protection +2
Abelhawk, there is something that you missed in digging the graves, you must use the cheat code to see the whole map, then at the bottom of the map you will see a sheep named Tichondrius.
i remember finding all of these myself lol it took hours of playing one map at a time
You forgot the Tichondrius disguise easter egg, after you see the secret with tichondrius in Digging up the dead where he has transformed himself into a sheep.
Terry 309 wut
There is also a blink dager if you kill one of the arcmages on the last level i think, or maybe you find it in a vault. I am not really sure
I love WoW and Warcraft III
7:15 could it be that regional weather effects weren't a thing in RoC? I would say this is likely, if you look at how the transformation from Normal Grom to Chaos Grom works, its really inefficient compared to how you could do it now in the trigger editor.
Yeah, David confirmed that there was originally no weather effect for Dalaran Shields. There were others though (rays of sunlight, rain, etc.)
i wonder if well ever get a sasquatch WoW xpac like Mists of Pandaria
actually in chapter 2 digging up the dead you can find a sheep called Tichondrious on the bottom side of the map on q hill close to Tichondrious' feast where some rock golems are located
nice editing bro
3:29 the waterfall itself looks like a panda head!
0:59 broke rule one of fight club tsk tsk
And rule 2
regarding chapter 1, i wish to know how can the ghoul harvest unlimitedly to reach the golems? they harvest only 20 lumber
Good question. You just make them _attack_ the trees rather than harvest them.
@@Abelhawk thanks ❤️❤️
THIS IS AMAZING.
Also siege of darlan map has a few hidden items in crates in bandit camp
I like Pandaren. Always have.
these are cool thanks for sharing
2:58-3;41 alone i will sub and like
In mission 2 i find one sheep behind the trees. She is in Tichondrus team. Its very strange.
Michał Iskra It means it is controled by him
I love 'paving paths' with my 'meat wagon' if you know what i mean
...
The blackrock and roll too trolls were accidental for me to find while my ghouls were chopping wood
My favourite game of all times as well :D
I think you missed the timmy at the river bank near the lumber mill in the first mission.
I don't know if it's just me, but it looks like when you cut off the beginning of this video, only the audio was cut, but the video prevailed.
So the audio is like 10 seconds behind the video.
Not just you. It's like that for me too
BY THE WAY IN THE SAME LEVEL WHERE YOU FIND THE SASQUACHES THERE IS ACTUALLY A SHEEP WHOSE NAME IS TICHONDRIUS! you forgot this easter egg ;)
Hi when you are in final battle vs sylvanas get an high elf peon to your control!!! This will let you to make an army from human HEROS and also they have a high elf units. To do this use your banshees...
How do you get the ogre gauntlets on mission one? I cannot cut down so many woods with only four ghouls. Is it possible to drop lumber somehow? Thx
Just attack the trees; don't actually harvest them.
You missed the best easter egg in all game in chapter 6. With Banshee your can possess an Orc peon and with them you can build all off Orc buildings and create Orc units. And the best part of all is that you can create infinite Orc heroes, it's insane but it's true. Try it ;)
What a masterpeace
You missed a easter egg when you possess a elves worker though
Plus adding Random Alliance Heroes (Mountain King, Paladin, Archmage)
Nice vid man, what do you use to record/edit your videos?
I use Fraps to video the footage, Adobe Premiere to edit the video, and Audacity to edit the sound.
0:47 his name is robert paulson
I miss playing this game so much why did it have to get reworked
Abelhawk. I was just thinking, are you looking forward to the upcoming WC3 Reforged?
ive seen these 2 1:52 and the one with the apprentice wizard and the gnolls so this is not fake
In the first mision how do i cut that many trees without a base to drop them. Is there an option to drop wood?
nvm figured out i had to attack them haha xD
in the 1st mission there is no graveyard how the ghoul cut all the trees there is max 20 ?
They just attacked the trees rather than harvesting them.
@@Abelhawk Ohh, never really knew that could be done. Damn, now I feel dumb.
Nice video, you missed at the 2nd level of the undead, if you cut treet in the south you'll find a sheep named "tichondirous"/
Oh my goddd how can you open the map in the world editor??? Can you switch the force you wanna play like a computer is gonna play Arthas? Or will they just stay still please reply luv your vids
There is tichondrius sheep at digging up the dead at right below map
Blizzard seems to like naming models something completely different to what the model is for. I've noticed this a lot in WoW datamining stuff on wowhead and mmo champion.
4:03 you forgot something! hidden in the map (use a iseedeadpeople cheat) there is a sheep that is with a team on tichondrius...
Pandaren are love. Pandaren are life.
Elijah Moore are you crazy
HTTYD & RTTE and more theory's and more you seyed presant lol
what's the name of the song at 3:30 ?
It's a Mists of Pandaria song-I can't remember which one.
Great video. But Illidan's warglaives are awesome.
I agree... Minus the panda logos on them. ;)
I like the pandarain(I think I spelt that right)tho
G-Gus?
Gus Johnson is that you?
Pandarens.... They should have remain easter eggs yeah.. I'll follow you on this for sure !
so you are telling me! there has been a fucking panda face on those glaives this whole time!?
This guy and his Pandaren hate
How can you preview campaign maps?
I extracted them from the MPQ file in the Warcraft folders! That's where I found all the material for this series.
Thanks a lot :) These Easter Eggs videos are great btw.
Thanks for your support! I'm working on another one now, so hopefully it'll be out within the next few weeks.
