I'm watching for Nigeria and I'm divorce at 23, now I'm 25 and I think I have not being productive, so I decide to take next jamb and study nursing in Nigeria university. My big worries is that I will be old before finishing nursing. I'm worried about getting admitted. I'm worried about funding But my biggest motivation is that I want not make my parent and my son proud. I don't want to settle down and make another mistake again.
Thank you so much for taking out the time to share an amazing information here, may your efforts be rewarded. I'm an undergraduate in a part-time program studying economics. Honestly, it hasn't been easy cause, for every time I want to study, I always get distracted or uninterested even when I try to make myself believe that I can do it.. Once I begin in the next few minutes I'll just start feeling sleepy, tired, weak and hopeless. I also find it very difficult to understand whatever I read, I've tried creating a study group but it doesn't work cause everyone always has one excuse or another.... Regards to knowing the best time to study; for me it's difficult to identify what time is the best cause I can just read in the morning and I'll get it sometimes at night I'm also good even during the day also a plus.. So I don't know what time is best for me. I'm just so tired of everything. No accountability partner(nobody wants to), No study group, No time factor etc. I also have kids under my care. Please, what would you suggest I do.
@@chidinmaphilip1510 I truly appreciate your kind feedback about the video; also, thank you for commenting and for sharing with the community. I do think for someone like you who struggles with focus and remembering, things can be a little harder. On the bright side, I think you are an Ambivert who can easily adjust depending on situations - that’s why you can study at night and also during the day depending on need. I did not talk about this in the video, but that’s a plus for you. So, the best solutions for you considering what you shared is a combination of three things, some of which I didn’t mention in the video. These are Pomodoro, use of Mnemonics, and the Feynman Technique. For the first one, I pretty much explained it in the video, this means you get to schedule your distraction (i.e. tiredness and sleepiness). The Pomodoro means 25 minutes of study and 5-10 minutes break of your choice. Please note that tiredness and sleepiness will come your way regardless, if you did not have good sleep the previous night due to children, life, etc. This means moving forward, you should be intentional about letting your body rest at night even though you are not feeling sleepy at night. Unless you are staying awake to study. Advice for falling asleep- consider listening to sleep stories, there are many of them on UA-cam. Quite frankly, that’s how I also sleep at night. Those stories help focus your mind and will help you to drift slowly into sleep without delay. Once you figure out 6-8 hrs sleep and rest every night, trust me, that hopefully will reduce the tiredness and sleepiness part of your challenge. Next, find out more about mnemonics. You should consider creating acronyms, graphs, pictures, images, lists, that will make remembering information easier. Please look up mnemonics and see if this is something you can use to make your studying process more fun and less tedious. And finally, try the Fayman technique. I explained this concept in the video but did not mentioned the proper name. Basically, after applying the things I have talked about above, feel free to exercise your brain but trying to explain it to the kids under your care. Feel free to make a fun experience where you ask them to sit down and listen to you teach what you studied. Or try that with a mirror (I have done this many times myself). The idea here is to identify gaps in your knowledge, so that you will know what might be a challenge when you sit for a test or exam. I am not entirely sure if this is what you were hoping to gain, but I sincerely hope this advice helps you somehow. You got this 💪🏾🙌🏾
Actually I don't know how to say this but let me do it anyhow Firstly my biggest struggle in studying is sleeping and lazyness😢. I really want to know this thing but the passion is not there to study but I really want to study, well 😢am just trying to overcome it And also I don't really know if I'm a night ready or day😢 I just need help 😢
This is a fantastic goal. Fun fact, when I started university in Nigeria, I did not even know what first class was because I was a first generation college attendee. I literally discovered what it was after I got the highest GPA from first semester since then I strived to maintain it till graduation. My point being, always aim for the moon and worst case scenario, you will get the skies. In reality, aim for 5.0 every semester and maybe worse case scenario you will get a 4.5 which is still a first class. I know you can do this. To summarize this, simply target "A" in every course and if at all you failed, you get a B minimum. That is the key.
That is totally understandable, understanding what you are reading can be tricky sometimes. If you struggle while studying on your own, you can truly benefit from group studies or one-on-one study sessions. The one-on-one sessions can be between you and a student (who understands the concept) or the lecturer of the course. I cannot emphasize this enough, please normalize consulting with your lecturer or asking for their help when you struggle. I know it can be hard in some African countries to do this, but you have to train your mind to be comfortable with the idea of seeking help. I hope this advice is useful to you somehow.
Hello Adebayo, thanks for sharing your experience and plans, I do hope these few ideas and suggestions from the video help you somehow. It is truly hard to find focus and put our brains to work. However if you can master active recalls and using flash cards to aid easy remembrance, that will be key for your success. Those two skills are excellent for remembering
