Very helpful video. Also, KDP will terminate your account and keep all earnings if you put your books in the wrong categories. There's plenty of videos of people who've had this happen. It's not worth the risk. Just put your books in the right categories.
You're amazing! Question: I plan to publish high content horror fiction books, yet the majority of Amazon tips I'm seeing (mostly from you and Sean D) involve kids books/coloring books etc. Do you think these tips can help even in my genre?
Hi Barry, This may be an uncommon question to you. But I hope you could provide an honest answer. Have you ever got 1 star rating to your top selling books? Because almost all the top selling books in kdp has got few 1 star reviews. What is your experience on that? Thank you.
Of course. Almost all books I've published have gotten 1 star reviews. Sometimes they are describing printing problems, other times they are fake, other times they are not evenbtaking about my book, I've even have times where the negative review was talking about how the book didn't have the trim size they were expecting. I don't do anything about them. I just continue to gather positive reviews and the negative reviews eventually get buried :)
Hi Barry! What if at launch my categories are set right for my book, but brs is extremely low in them, no way to get bestseller. After the initial 2 or 3 months after launch, then would you change a category to something less revelent to get bestseller. Ps. From my experience, when i have a book that gets the beseller rank, I get more orders, for me it's been more than 3%
That's a great question. I haven't tested this out to see how much it affects your books indexing however I have seen Amazon take your book out of a category if it's irrelevant, even if you put it there. So either way it might not last very long :)
I understand that everyone has a different experience. This is just what I found from my experience. What was your experience like and did you see an increase in your indexed keywords after placing your book in an irrelevant category in order to get a best seller badge?

That's a great question. Unfortunately I don't have any experience publishing in fiction genres so I can't give you any concrete advice :)

Is categories strong to affect our book
Category are valuable as long as you place your book in the correct categories :)
