When it comes to self publishing no content and low content books on the Amazon KDP there are some common mistakes that most people make. These can lead to your books not being found and prevent your books from making sales and making you money. They can lead to errors when it comes to trying to upload your books, or getting them rejected after uploading. In more severe circumstances they can lead to your account getting banned or terminated. So I go through the top 7 parts of the upload process that lead to these issues and what you can do to prevent them or fix them and increase your chances of getting your books listed and, ultimately, making sales and collecting royalties. No content and low content books present a great opportunity to making money online by self publishing books on Amazon.

Thanks for all the great information. I just got started publishing low content books a week ago, and Amazon has listed 5 of my publications so far.
Here is another one that I have made: When you design your cover keep in mind how it will look in the preview. I made a more pastel cover with a font with fine lines and no big contrasts. It looks pretty good in its original size, but now I have uploaded it and saw how it looks in the preview, I realised it doesn't look very good. You can't actually read the title on the cover and the design I have created is also barely visible. I think of redoing it, because I don't think it will sell that way

Thanks for this video Paul. I was creating series for my journals, notebooks, etc....Amazon allow most of them, however, after watching this video I went back and deleted all the series containing my no/low content books. Your knowledge regarding "all things KDP" is very much appreciated.

About the keyword staffing, I always try to avoid this mistake but when looking at a lot of books that have really low BSRs in amazon, especially in the low content, I see that actually they do Kw staffing often and they make a lot of money, I am confused how Amazon deals with these publishers.

Trade marks oh yeah, my first book has my original artwork and it took them over a week to verify it was my work. Once they verified it, it now only takes the 72 hours… now finally getting the uploads are finally working for me🎉 I still usually have to go back and tweak my work. But this on me..😂😂 spell check & grammar so doesn’t like me…😂😂 live and learn. I’m still new with KDP and loving it, and totally yes I am not going every book in the same category…. I did find out that when I did a sketch book, you cannot have all your pages totally blank I have to either number them or put something on each page.. like I said live and learn… thank you again Paul great information and encouragement…

Hello how this channel has helped me a lot, I will give you some advice regarding copyright.
If they close your account is because they used the images of characters or brands and (When you close an account you can not open another one ever again).
Regarding titles and other text things Amazon does not allow them to be published and you have to edit the text so do not use trademarks to earn more money because in the end they will close your account and you will not earn anything.

These videos are great; I like learning the create software - so no content/low content publishing gives me an outlet....I only just published 10 journals with some creative covers (that I like anyway). I have taken all the key word advice; I have no series; I did not have any rejections -following your advice. But now...would love to hear from more people who have sold (how long did it take, journals seem to be pretty saturated)---also, how do we know the print quality? AND finally, how can we get more images of the work (showing the pages inside - for example - because even though blank - there is some variety offered by Gumroad. Also, showing the back cover for some of my own creations is good because the back and the front are different :) Anyway - thanks - great content! (PS: I am using Vista Create, when downloading the completed cover to PDF I do have an option for "High Quality Printing" - but I want to know the quality of the paper/printing by Amazon...any feedback on this?)

That should be ok but I’ve not researched it.

Regarding margins, on a children's book, I am also the artist. My thoughts for simplifying the illustrations on the page would be to keep the important subject in the middle, then the illustration as it gets close to the edge, to be the least important.
Question: Would this work regarding margins, less worry of rejections, or me being disappointed with results?
Hi Paul, thank you so much for your videos, they are very helpful. In regard to the title keywords, is the title field indexed together with the subtitle field?
For example, if someone tried to be original in the title, but still gave major keywords in the subtitle, does Amazon utilize both fields for hybrid searches?
Here is a made up example:
Title: Name That Bird
Subtitle: Nature Log Book for Kids
Will Amazon show this book if someone searches "bird log book" or "bird book for kids"? Or are the two fields completely separate in this regard?

Hi Paul. Great video videos! If I have four journals with similar covers where the background graphics in different colors, can I use the same title for each? I was planning on loading them as a series. Also, I will publish two sizes. Should they be a separate series and can/should they have the same title? Basically, I am giving buyers color and size options.
Yes you can use the same title if you wish. You can’t publish them as series. They all have to be published as individual books.

Thank you for this excellent information, Paul. I’ve made two journals since watching and am about to upload and order proof copies. I have a question I haven’t been able to find anywhere. Do the journals hold up well under typical use? Since they aren’t designed to lie flat, do the pages start to fall out over time?
I've bought and used books I've created and I foind them to be of good quality and never had any issues.

I have just submitted my first set of paperback books x 12 and I made the mistake of making them a series (because they all come under one category). The books are still in review, can I unlink the series now from books so they don't get rejected?
If they are in review there is nothing you can do. Just wait to see what happens.

When we search an d find a best keyword and good sales attached to it but then why it is so that there are other books too there or may be entirely different and next question is do we have to include that keywords in our title too because those books we see dont have it in their title then how they are selling on this particular keyword
On canva's custom design, if you change pixels to inches first, you don't have to bother yourself putting the dimensions in twice.

Hi Paul, thanks for this info. I wish I had watched this or researched more before starting. I just wanted to quickly walk through the process to check out all the steps. I made a Bible study journal and use the term “Waymaker” Bible study journal. After watching this video I discovered Waymaker is a trademarked word. I’ve heard it used in church most of my life. I’d hate to get my account banned over something that was virtually a test. I don’t plan on doing journals. It’s already been submitted, so I guess it’s too late? Thanks again.

As a professional book editor of many years, I would like to add that verbs (short ones, long ones, medium ones) should *always* be capitalized in titles and headings.

paul, the adding numbers to the interior pages do no work! i did those exact numbers and it found errors. saying i should add .375 to one of the edges it was so frustrating.

It's impossible to say from the information you've provided. Do you have the right size for your size of book? Is it in pdf format?

Hello very new to KDP. My questions has to do with the title. So if you put your title as Low Milage log book does that title have to appear on the actual book or can it just be labeled Log Book on the physical book?
the title in your listing has to be the same as on the book front or spine

No. Same happens with many books, especially this time of year. I suspect it comes down to the capacity of the printing machines.
Do you have any videos on how to fill in the tax form that is required, particularly for UK businesses, on Amazon? I've read that UK qualifies for tax treaty benefits. We would be paying tax in the UK anyway on any earnings. Also do we need to ring the IRS for an EIN? Or can we use our UK unique taxpayer reference? Thanks in advance.

when is the best time to run halloween ads for coloring books also when do you get billed for the ads is it monthly when is it taken out is it automatic from registered payment im experimenting with ads at the mo with budget very low just to get used to the set up as im new to them 208 impressions 5 clicks now out of budget does the ad still run or does it restart daily as dont want to run a big bill
If you’re out of budget the ad will stop. Now is the time to run Halloween ads. I normally get a bull and money taken out every 2 weeks.
HAHA - I made a couple of these mistakes with my first few notebooks unfortunatly you cannot change the subtitles after publishing. I am using uncommon title names but that is due to the niche I am in each is named after the featured art. I wish I saw this video 3 months ago XD

I put a notebook on amazon & used your lined paper. I checked it out after loading the lined pages and my cover picture and I approved it because it looked fine. I finally got it approved to go on amazon but it only has the cover & no option to look inside. Is that normal for just a lined book?
It takes a little time for the Look Inside feature to appear.

Yes you do need to check your images.
So I published my first notebook on KDP! I was super excited and today I my account was terminated.. because my book was misleading customers. I thought the description was 100% accurate. Anyone else with this problem.

Thanks for this, it's great info but...I've tried uploading my manuscript to KDP today. However on both Kindle (Jpeg) and Paperback (PDF) manuscripts, the text from my exported "5 x 8" word document, is all over the place and certainly not suitable for publication. Do you have any idea why this may happen? I've spoken to Amazon and they are just as confused as I am!
As I understand it, the issue with creating a document in word is that it adds formatting characters into the text which messes things up. It’s been quite a number of years since I created a written book but I used Scrivener to prevent that problem. I’m sure there’s a simple workaround which I’m certain could be found with a search on Google or UA-cam.

Good day Paul Marles, I designed my interior using 6.125 x 9.25 but was still getting the error sign during the preview section on kdp upload and it was having bleed, any suggestions?, thanks
What does it say is the actual error? You may have gone outside the margins or you've not clicked on the bleed box or background images don't go to the edge of the page. Could be a number of reasons.

You need to use a template cover creator such as the on in the KDP help section or on bookow.com.
