Hi Anna, I am a photographer learning how to paint in watercolor. In photography the most beautiful photos are when the lighting is perfect. I think people don't often realize this because I see so many watercolor paintings that have poor lighting in the composition. This short video you posted is so important!!! I have never thought about putting white behind photos I take for painting. What a great tip! All the best!!

Hello, Anna. I'm a photorealist artist and I'm interested in getting in to painting some botanical art. Obviously, working from life is preferred, but is working from photographic references acceptable with the SBA or is it a no, no? Also, are other mediums such as oils used at all?
hi tom, i paint botanical art form photos, its getting the detail right thats important, you dont always have time to sit and do more than one study. look up sba books,,the one im working from is botanical illustration for beginners by meriel thurston and rosie martin. oh by the way .........they mention a digital camera. its very good and costs£19.99
