The Magnolia is lovely! Especially Love how you used the actual paint names in your color wheel. It made it so much easier to understand what & where specific colors fell on the color wheel. Thanks a bunch!
I am one of Anna's students. Her ability to differentiate fine shades of color is astonishing. She has improved my ability to see colors and mix them dramatically. I am editing old paintings. Boy, has she improved my ability to paint.
Thank you Anna! I have just discovered your tutorials and I'm addicted :)) I am trying to transition from acrylics to watercolours and with your help I might just make it!
I love this tutorial. You gave a great way of explaining your method. I can’t wait to try it. I normally work in acrylics so water color is like a foreign language to me.
I like your teachings, you explain it very nicely and clearly, you remind me a lot of a dear friend of mine!. I wonder if, when you are painting on your own and not doing a tutorial, you have the same thoughts about the colour wheel that you explain here or if you are more intuitive about the colors, I mean, if your explanations on the colour wheel are for people to understand the way to use the colours or because you use that technique in your thoughts while you are painting.
you probably dont care at all but does anyone know of a method to get back into an instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the password. I love any help you can give me.
@Dakota Kamryn i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Thank ou so much for this detailed tutorial! It is excellent for me I always use a llimited palette and your video shows me just how I can add much more variation to my works!!!! Awesome art skills too!!!!!! Congratulations! :D
Fantastic tutorial and stunning art piece! ❤️. Also, I love the ergonomic design of your workspace - I'm quite jealous actually. The stand holds your reference photo, I assume, and has paper towels attached. 👍🏻. The art "board" looks as if it could be adjusted many ways; I especially love that it sits higher than your table top! Awesome....now back to learning and creating art 😊
I really like your (Beth) replies to the video and especially about her art space and furniture she uses to paint. So efficient , compact & organized. I too am quite envious but great ideas for my space: thank you Anna you are definitely an accomplished artist.
I just watched your magnolia flower painting. Beautifully done. I see on the video how easily you layer color to darken an area. When I try going over an area, especially one that has dried, to darken it, I get a nasty looking bloom. How do you avoid blooms in your beautiful paintings?
Thanks Margaret! It's most likely to do with the equipment you're using. You need to make sure you're using artist quality watercolour paints, which are completely transparent. You can see all the equipment I recommend at annamasonart.com/equipment :-)
Hi Anna! I’ve recently discovered your channel and I learned a lot already! One question- in your color wheel, the warm yellow is just below the cool yellow. Clockwise: it’s cool yellow to warm green to cool green to cool blue to warm blue to warm purples to cool reds to warm red and back to cool yellow. Is this correct? I qant to arrange my color in this way bec it’s much easier to shift up or down :) by the way, where can i put the browns? Like burnt umber and umber? Thank you so much! ♥️
Hi Cristy! If you start by mapping the primary colours, you can then locate the rest of your colours in the gaps by working out where they are closer to. I place neutrals between blue and purple on my palette. You can see the arrangement I use on the PDF on my Equipment page here: www.annamasonart.com/equipment/ :-)
Hi, your watercolour work is amazing and quite inspiring. I was wondering if you could share the name of the easel you are using in this video. It looks different than every other table top easel I've seen and looks like it would be great to help maintain good posture while drawing/painting
Thanks Krystie! The easel I use is the Daler-Rowney Artosphere - you can find links to it and see all the other equipment I use at annamasonart.com/equipment :-)
Beautiful work. I love your videos and artwork. Can you tell me the name of your easel, is it an easel, right? Does it rotate? I noticed the ball joint and wondered if it spins. Thanks for sharing!
You must be painting for prints.... You take no heed to the lightfast ratings of the pigments used. 'Opera' is fugitive..... I only know of 'white' magnolias...hmmm Nice flower, and great tutorials!
G Man, I checked the website, and opera rose has been upgraded to a "B" for lightfastness. Buyers should always frame with UV glass (most know enough to do that), so between the two, it should never be a problem.

Just seen this sorry - yes I do this intuitively but it helps for beginners to have the process explained to them before it becomes second nature.

Hi I would love to know where you got your easel from?
Daler-Rowney ArtSphere Easel
Question, what steps in photoshop must we take to see the lightist Color, You showed us. Can You make a video of that please?
I also asking myself this same question from looong time.
I'm wondering if anyone knows if this artist uses hot or cold press paper? I'm guessing hot, which I've never used, but wanted to be sure.
Hi Barbara, I always use hot pressed paper, it's better for creating the fine detail required for realistic painting. Hope this helps! :)
You must be painting for prints.... You take no heed to the lightfast ratings of the pigments used. 'Opera' is fugitive..... I only know of 'white' magnolias...hmmm Nice flower, and great tutorials!
All of our magnolias are pink and white.
We just have white ones in our town :(
