You're supposed to stick the ring plastic at the back of your phone. Slide your middle finger into the ring as a safety feature while you use it. Doubles as a phone stand.
+KeiTeo So can I use a couple of them for my tablet? with me having one for each hand?
That ring thing is supposed to be a phone stand.
... yes I got one on my phone case it works great 😂😝 .....
For anyone that doesn't know this controller does work for every game out there you just have to hold onto R1 while holding on the power button which on your PC will read out as an Xbox controller.
woah! thats pretty neat....!
I just ordered it under the impression that I had to use a mapping tool for that. This made my day. Thanks.
Aren't those for sticking to the back of a phone and using it as a stand? There are plenty of products that almost look the exact same... sticky part goes on the phone, ring goes on the table. Confused how you guys didn't realize this haha.
I don't see how it would work
+AstrosGamer look up the iRing. It's essentially the same thing. Though the iRing seems to have a better design
You are correct, they even have one picture demostrating it on amazon.
images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/31nDRxLadML.jpg
yeah! exactly that haha
What are those phone holders with the ring called. Want one for my IPhone
5:37
Those things are for attaching to the back of your phone so you don't drop them. Another product of the same name is called the iRing.
ShadowofColosuss103 Wow, I would have never found that out by myself! I would also never attach a sticky ring thing to the back of my phone. :P
***** Get one of those cases then so that the sticky stuff doesn't ruin the phone if you want.
***** I would've guessed that it was to attach to the controller, to have your mobile controller on your keychain, not your phone, just my guess
***** the ring also folds out as a stand
wow rerez really?
Jason sent the NES one to me, I like the way it looks. Def. a decent pick up.
i realize I'm pretty randomly asking but do anyone know a good site to watch newly released movies online?
@Hector Kyson Lately I have been using flixzone. You can find it by googling =)
@Rocco Leland Yea, have been using flixzone for years myself :D
My guess is that the sticky ring is for the controller itself if you want to attach it to your keys. It's a bit too big for anyone to really do that but their Zero controller really is key chain size.
You were right with what that extra thing that came with the Keychain was on your first guess. It sticks to the back of the phone or phones case and the loop comes out and it works as a very solid phone stand. And the angle is even perfect. Also, that controller is amazing.. I love the design and the quality.. Very impressive!
These controllers are really nice. I have the original NES30 which doesn't have analog sticks and has the exact same shape and size as the original rectangular NES controller. It works a treat with my phone and I played through the entire Super Mario Bros. with it hooked up to a TV.
One thing to add is that these controllers also have updatable firmwares so in the future you can add new features and potentially make them compatible with other devices when 8BitDo releases updates.
Just ordered one of these a few days ago for my Raspberry Pi 3 actually 😃 With your approval on these I'm sure I won't be disappointed!
5:40 They are a phone stand, very common, and can be used as a kickstand or a ring for one handed phone use...
The little square with the ring sticks on the back of your phone and you can use it as a stand. Plus, it makes a comfortable way to hold the phone
Hey everyone. As someone who did a bit of research on moga controllers I was quite surprised by this little gem. I only have 2 minor gripes about it. The shoulder buttons take a bit getting used to and the face buttons could be a bit larger. After owning one for almost a month now I truly still love it. It's exactly what I was looking for in a small wireless portable controller!
"It really feels good in the hands"
-Rerez 2015
ps3shark1 ;)
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
That hookup goes at the back of the controller so you can attached it on a wall hook you can put anywhere on your desk, some new monitors has hooks at the back so you can hang up earphones and if you want the controller too when youre not using them.
In case you don't know, they did make a clamp thing to hold your phone and the controller together. It's called the 8bitdo Xtander.
I actually got it and managed to get my old Steelseries Free to slot in. It's a bit janky, but it works.
I noticed that you never say the price in many of these videos. I would appreciate if you would.
The sticky back is for the phone. It's a phone stand/finger slot to hold your phone. There is a clip called xtander(there is one for the regular FC30 and for the pro so make sure you look for the right one). It grips on to the controller and has a phone grip on top so you can play on the go.
Question: How specifically does it hook up to the Wii? Does it pretend to be a Classic Controller? (It literally looks like a Wii Classic Controller)
Need some help over here.
I'm really digging for these controlers, they look fantastic. But I've never bought something online and to top it, they don't have 'em in my country.
I was wondering if I buy them from Amazon, would they be able to send it to me outside of the US?
The ring mounts to the back of the phone and work as a kickstand.
Cool the controller comes with one tho. I plan to order one soon.
Quick tip +Rerez, use your Wii U stand (if you have one that is) to hold your phone in place. It's at a slight angle but nothing major
NERDGASM! Seriously i love controlers and it seems that i feel in love with the NES30 Pro
That ring you were talking about is meant for your phone. The ring is used as a stand for your phone.
This may not solve the connecting to multiple devices for everyone but I have an SNES30 by 8bitdo and the thing I've noticed w/ the controller I use for both my PC and my Android is that if I'm using my PC when trying to connect to my Android is it likes to connect to the PC instead so I simply turn off the Bluetooth for my PC and restart the connection process of the controller. That solves it 90% of the time, the other 10% I just restart the android and controller and connect the two. Hope that helps!
awesome I have the older version of the famicom style version it is a great controller although the older version does not have the analog and the second(ary?) set of shoulder buttons
I really like the look of them, don't really game on my phone though. May try for PC emulation though after doing a bit more research.
Found these same controllers on Amazon. I have now confirmed that they do work on both Android and iOS, which is awesome because that means anyone can use it.
I have the nes version and it works just fine with steam given it natively supports xinput too with a button combo when you turn it on.
But it is a bit small I think and playing shooter games is more difficult with the small thumb sticks. But they look so nice!
That actually looks interesting. The R1/R2 and L1/L2 looks confusing at first, being side by side, but I guess it just takes some time getting used to. Very nice review, got me interested in getting one.
Wow those are awesome, haven't seen u upload much lately
I hate when people do a tech feature and won't mention the price in the video.
They usually do this because prices will eventually change. checking the description or doing a quick search online can provide you with not only the price, but a direct deal with a retailer.
it's 40 to 50 dollars in amazon dot com
+Ethan Nguyen well said.
at gameinstock.com it costs 38 bucks.
www.gameinstock.com/index.php/nes30pro.html?gclid=Cj0KEQjwnsPGBRDo4c6RqK-Oqu8BEiQAwNviCcCA8ecHk18i0o-HnkZCALeBTW1aQ4JyQ-BWPNP9NCMaAj8p8P8HAQ
What USD What.. WHAT
The sticky ring is called a bunker ring. You can put it on the back of your phone and use it as a stand, or you put it over your finger so that when you are using your phone you don't drop it. It makes it easier to use your phone with one hand, depending on how you position it.
The funky stuff is how they updated the firmware and made these controllers switch compatible, even if they made a new version that had additional switch compatibility.
Sadly these seemed to be pretty limited time products, much like original FC30/NES30 which are way more of original controller clones with addition of soulder and two face buttons.
I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE.
Seriously, all I've done is emulate old games because...wells they're older than I am and I'm not hunting down an old game console and cartridge just to play a game.
Until now I've used a Wiimote to play games, but this is awesome!
There is a use to the metal ring. It can hold up your phone plus it is like a ring to place on your finger to prevent it from slipping off your hand.
I have the SNES30 controller from 8bitdo, and the only time I have a problem pairing it with my phone is when I'm at my friends place and he has his raspberry pi turned on
those rings, ur meant to stick them to the back of a phone and then it helps u hold it easier if u stick ur finger through it (lets say if u hold ur phone out far away to take a selfie or something like that), it can also however, be used as a stand too to prop up ur phone
Idea: Awesome
Feeling: Awesome
Functionallity: Awesome
The feel of the Buttons: No.
WELL, EVERYTHING IS GOOD *EXCEPT(!!)* the Analog Sticks. They are kinda loose, its easier to pull/push them in one direction than in another, and BY FAR THE WORST PART: *They get stuck at some specific directions, wich kills all the fun and precise gaming.*
BUT A BIG PLUS: Though I lost my warranty, 8Bitdo support answered to a mail in wich I asked for help, and they made me the offer to check my controller and fix it for free - well, free, but I would have to send it to them and shipping to China from Germany is expensive...
Maybe your controller analog joy sticks are loose but mine are nice and not loose, they feel like a xbox stick but smaller and is nice, maybe is your controller :/
they do work for steam, and everything else..
there is no issue with that
also the ring is for your mobile phone so you can set it up.
By clicky, you mean rubber domes or actual mechanical switches on the buttons?
Do you know by chance if those USB cables are 2.0 or 3.0? Or about the actual USB port on the controller, thanks.
you can always map controls with software like xpadder
You should review the fight sticks. Apparently they have official Sanwa parts and they have bluetooth and USB compatibility which seems pretty good on paper, but I'm curious how they work in practice
It's been over a year and a half since this review. New firmware upgrades have fixed a great deal of headaches and it's much easier to connect to console/PC/devices. I'm going to test it out with Retropie today on my Raspberry Pi. I'm also going to get a USB bluetooth dongle today and see if it will work with my desktop without having to use the USB cable.
i ordered the NES30 PRO and can't wait to have it delivered.
i watched different videoes and you CAN play your steam games with it pretty well. if you have one and can't, just search online how to do it. you should be able.
That black thing that you picked up is the bracket you put it on the back of your smart phone and it sits your phone up so you can play i was trying to figure out what that thing was as well until I started doing some brainstorming
I wonder if they'd work on PS4. They look like something cool to play Rogue Legacy or one of those many indie games I got through PSN.
Maybe the sticky thing was to attach the controller to your keychain?
The ring with the sticky back is for retail use to secure the controller, just like phone kiosk in the phone store
These also work on your PS3 through the USB if I remember correctly
These remind me of the Mad Catz Retrocon on the PS2
Chronis67 Yeah, they do very closely resemble that design.
pretty easy to figure out that the ring item is actually a stand for the phone. stick the ring to the back of your phone and presto. also 8bit make an adaptor which allows you to snap your phone onto the controller.
the little square with the ring is a KICKSTAND for your smart phone so you dont have to lean it on something! very awesome and important. i stuck mine to the back of my phone case so i dont stick it to the phone itself. i have the gold one.
They make a variant of this controller which doesn't have thumb sticks or the rounded shape but it comes with a stand that can slot onto the controller for easy storage. It also costs less.
I did some digging on the site, Apparently they have a Famicom-style fightstick.
This has all of my money if they make one that's SNES-themed. A USB/wireless controller with the look, feel and d-pad of the old SNES controller but with sticks and 4 shoulder buttons for modern games is a thing of my dreams.
Any suggestions on keeping it safe, when it's in my backpack?
Just bought it, shit is amazing, even works perfectly on my switch.
that ring is a stand much like the iRing. how did you know figure that out?
the ring and sticky pad are to mount to you tablet to use as a stand......
Looks great. I'd order one immediately for my PC if they used Xinput. DirectInput just isn't that useful these days.
Again, excellent review!
Dimitri Beauchamp Thank you. :)
8bitdo are one of the coolest controller companies ever in my opinion!
I went and purchased the FC30 Pro immediately after watching this
agreed with the review except that they become uncomfortable after extended play and you often find yourself inadvertently pressing the Bluetooth sync button on the bottom during play. Normally that wouldn't be a big deal except that some games recognize that as another button press you didn't want. The shoulder buttons also kinda suck.
I use it with my retron5 and it works incredibly well. As far as I know its the only 3th party controller with full functionality on the retron5.(without needing to use that shortcut function) Imo totally worth the money
I took a look around their website but I couldn't actually find a page that listed the prices or had a purchase link for these. Have they actually been released yet?
that small thing is iring stick to your mobile can use as stand and help hold still.you can google iring .i just brought one any game list you suggest?
The stickers are for Smartphones, you put it on the back of the phone so you can put the phone facing towards you on any surface.
those rings are phone stand....
and you over exegerrate the hook up
You think it would work with my Ouya?
I'm planning on getting an NES30 pro because I'm getting tired of using a keyboard for emulators and the mobile version of Sonic CD
the ring is a phone stand. you sick it to the back of the phone and flip it out. it also helps you hold your phone.
I want to get one of these, and take it on a big adventure.
I'm talking a 70 hour Skyrim Quest with this thing.
My first outing with Witcher 3 on one of these things.
I want to actively think "Yeah I'll use this controller" over all other Gamepads in my arsenal (including xbox360, Dualshock4, Steam controller, etc.).
You were right about the phone stand I use mine all the time
+Rerez, do you (or anyone else that reads this) know if these work with Retro Pi on a Raspberry Pi?
would this work for a steam game? bully specifically.
You could play PlayStation games on your phone with an NES controller... It's amazing
Is there an adapter to use these on a Super Nintendo or Nintendo 64?
If you power it on holding the X button before plugging it in it switch the controller to X-input mode.
the ring is huge here in Japan. I found one and now I can't live without one on my phone.
I'm curious to see if these works with PS4 or XBONE
The ring you see or "mount" is actually made to stick to the back of the phone, when you flip it up your phone becomes a stand
the ring with the tape on back is to hold the USB cable you fold it up and slide it into the ring
I am assuming that square thing is a magnetic key hook for your refrigerator you just you attach that to your main set of keys and you got a portable key hook
My immediate thought is the ring attaches to the controller, making it more portable ...
on the wall mount thing, you stick half on the controller back and half on the phone or device
I wish they still sold the Famicom version. I'm trying to make a Famicom corner, all systems and metal faceplate themed.
With those USB ports, they would be good for playing on PS4.
Those guys should make a Super Famicom Controller pattern for there Controllers!
I just got this controller. It's really nice. I was able to pair it to my pc and my android phone no problem. Mine must have a newer firmware update or something. On pc it works pretty much like an Xbox 360 controller so you can even play some steam games with it. I also recommend using retroarch (on your phone as well) as it autoconfigures this controller right away.
Will it work if i use two of the same controllers and play emulator games?
Do they work as normal Wii controller or did you mean Wii classic controllers? If they work as normal Wii controller I'd love to buy one just to play Kirby's Return to Dream Land, that sadly doesn't work with classic and Gamecube controllers (and I really don't understand why) and the Wii remote is really uncomfortable...
Rerez, have you tried using these controllers with the Wii U? I saw a UA-cam video where the guy was playing New Super Mario Bros. U.
Quality content right here... Subscribed!
maybe theyve improved it with new firmware, but I recently got the nes30 pro and had no issue hooking it up to my pc bluetooth and wii. now that ive synced them, i just turn on the controller normally to use on pc. and press power + Y to turn it on if i want to play on the wii. my only gripe is the instructions arent very straight forward. for instance, the manual says nothing about how to connect it to the wii. you have to check their website for info on that
So, beyond emulators, can this work on say, PC Games?
For example, games you could buy on steam or RPG Maker games?
I'm genuinly curious, as thats most of the games I play.
Triforce Mario Pretty sure that's how it works
Know this comment is old but to answer your question on windows this can be connected as either a D-input controller or an X-input controller, allowing you to use it on any game that's compatible with generic pc controllers, the wired 360 controller, or Xbox One controller.
I have all the old school dooms downloaded on my phone including the brutal doom mod. in the options it says I can assign buttons. what I'm asking is will this work for my doom games..if it does I'm buying
They should make an N64 one. :D
+unnamed715 that would be complicated and AMAZING.
better yet, a gamecube one 0.0
game cube would be better
+unnamed715 why not just use these to play N64 emulation. since they have more than enough buttons and thumb sticks.besides the N64 controller was an awful design
Xlembros
I tried using controllers with this same layout on an N64 emulator. Unfortunately it doesn't work too well as the control scheme for most games on the 64 are specifically designed to accommodate the controller's specific layout. Any other controller just feels awkward. Well, to _me_ anyway...
Is that ring not meant to stick to the back of your phone to flip out and use as a stand?
How easy is it for you to just press the shoulder buttons wrongly and mix them up?
+evernals That's what I'd like to know
At first I'd say it happens quite often, but your fingers get used to it, as you keep using it and your muscle memory kicks in.
