      Plan on picking up the AVS and pairing it with a 55" QD-OLED(Samsung S90D - 2024) next month. I've got the N30 2.4G already, but I wonder if the RetroBit Origin8(Game Boy version) would be a better pick. Does anybody know which of the two has less latency?
      I'm kind of over using original hardware & wired controllers on an old 2005 Sony WEGA CRT, regardless of it being a more authentic experience. 90's CRT's have aged like crud image quality qise due to long hours and the internal guts getting old, so those mid-2000 wegas are your best bet, aside from having superior PQ as it is. Yet I just can't stand the boxy silver bezel, but eh. And i figure, it's never the same regardless as it was playing these older consoles way back when with the NES, SNES etc. So I'd rather try something new and freshen things up for a more convenient modernized set up as a last ditch effort.
      55" QD-OLED TV(if only 42"'s existed instead of WOLED. Guess I'll have to sit farther back with the 55" to accomodate the stupidly large 4:3 aspect ratio when retro gaming), HD clone consoles like the AVS, Super Nt, Mega Sg & Duo, wireless 2.4G controllers from either RetroBit or 8bitDo, and possibly EverDrive Flash carts.

    I love using the N30 with my NES. I also have the SN30 and M30 for my SNES and genesis. Now if only they would make N64, dreamcast, and gamecube controllers, I could go totally wireless on my controllers!

      Yeah thatd be awesome! They did do the N64 bluetooth controller with Retro-bit a long while ago... but never made the retro receiver for it. Never heard much about that controller and never used one myself so dunno if it was good or not.

    They certainly put out quality, which is nice, in a world where 3rd party anything, normally means useless garbage.
    Its nice to see the quality of there controllers they are releasing is still standing up. Its nice to see a 3rd party company like this, always try to make sure there products are acceptable quality.
    Shame other companies do not really bother.

    I would agree that this controller is great, but it does have one problem. Hitting select/start at the same time does not register as such, it registers as L/R when pressed at the same time.
    Also side note, the turbo a/b buttons are mapped to the same buttons as a/b, they are not seperate inputs

    Seriously though, I would like 8BitDo make updated "clone" versions of the NES Max (controller shaped like a boomerang with wing grips and a cycloid sliding d-pad) and the NES Advantage (basically a joystick) - both original versions had turbo buttons as a standard feature

    I have this controller and I agree it's a great controller, fixes all the D-Pad issues from the past controllers too. I actually slightly prefer the DIY mod Kit for the NES controller (which also has fixed D-pad), the buttons feel a little different probably because the pads. I used it in a brand new NES Classic controller. Both are great though and they are used frequently in 2 player sessions.
    @Madlittlepixel Do you have the NES controllers for the Switch Online service? I read that those can be synced to the 8bitdo NES bluetooth adapters. So it's actually possible to use official wireless NES controllers on the NES. If you have those it would be cool to see how well that works. Thanks for the vids!

    I'm a fan of retro-bit's NES controllers. They are relatively cheap and look very similar to the originals but the A and B buttons are angled like the dogbone style and there is a little indentation in the middle of the d-pad similar to the X-box one d-pad, both of which I think are slight improvements over the original design.

    • @Madlittlepixel
      @Madlittlepixel  5 років тому +1

      My favorite wired 3rd party controller for a while was the Retro-bit dogbone clone controller. It was like $5 and was really good except the cable was a bit thinner and cheap feeling.

  • @ToploadedGaming
    @ToploadedGaming 5 років тому +1

    I rather their DIY nes pcb board they did. You use the actual nes controller that way. The problem I find when it comes to 8bitdo is their membranes and d-pads. With the DIY board, you still use all Nintendo’s original stuff except for the pcb itself.

    • @ZeroB4NG
      @ZeroB4NG 5 років тому

      the DIY stuff is cool, only downside is where do you get a factory new original pad these days? used ones on ebay are either broken or gunked up, yellowed and what not... the few close to pristine ones are so expensive that i wouldn't dare to mess up their collectors value, i'd rather leave those to the real collectors that still play with original hardware.
      But i bought a 8 pack of defective SFC controllers for a few bucks, now i got plenty OG SNES buttons, D-Pads, Membranes and stuff that i can implant on my 8bitdo SFC30 and SFC30 Pro pads. ....just need to actually do it.

    • @ToploadedGaming
      @ToploadedGaming 5 років тому

      ZeroB4NG Yea I guess I didn’t think about that, but that’s only because I was able to get lots of extra nes snes controllers before the craze/price gouging started. So you make a great point, but for me, even if I didn’t, the functionality of 8bitdo’s dpads and membranes on punchout would drive me to other options. The new sn30’s and 30 pros for example have a ton of misclicks. Just thinks you didnt press, where as this diy project im talking about just doesnt have those issues. Even nintendos own nes classic and snes classic controllers membranes and dpads do the same thing as 8bitdos does, so in the end, I guess you gotta ask, how much fo you play, how much of these games do you beat, or want to beat, and what is the optimal performance worth? For me, i’d spend $100 on someone selling the nes controller with the retro receiver I have vs the $0 id be willing to spend on this because I know the issues it has. But I do no death runs and stuff so i need my controller to be spot on. I mean, I spent $400 on a turbo duo to play rondo of blood so, I get that Im not the avg consumer lol.

    The controller has an issue where it doesn't register when Start + Select are pressed together. This occurs when using the Retro Receiver or as a USB PC pad. As I use this combination to access the Everdrive menu (and know at least one game where it is used), it's a deal breaker for me.

      I'm not sure what's been up with the design of the newer versions of their controllers. Their original releases all kept to the look of the actual controllers, but with their newer batches they changed it up and there's no option to pick the original design. I bought one of the sn30 pro usb ones a few months ago just after it released and the SN color option was completely gray controller & all 4 face buttons are light purple, no darker ring around the face buttons. Still a great controller but doesn't look near as great as the original versions they released.
